If you never bought any more make up again, how long would it take you to use up what you have?
If you never bought any more make up again, how long would it take you to use up what you have? What would you run out of first? What would you never have to repurchase?
.
Forever. I’d probably run out of skincare/foundation kind of stuff first, but I’d never run out of eyeshadow or lipstick.
Thanks to Anita for today’s question!
I’d run out of my MSF natural and UDPP the first, then bronzer next (just started a new one and have only one back-up). Skincare stuff (moisturizer, face wash) would also be quick to go.
I’d be good for lipgloss (including dazzleglasses and all that) and blushes for quite some time. Actually, my lipglosses would probably go a little rancid before I could even use them all.
Nailpolish and eyeshadows would by far hang in there the longest! (And at the rate I’ve been buying lipsticks lately, they’re not far behind either!)
Am I the only one who’s slightly horrified at the idea of not being able to buy any more makeup, though? 😛
It would take me a few years to run out of shadow and lipstick/gloss, the lippies, especially. The foundation would probably last a year or so. I’m covered for a while. LOL
I have enough to make over every showgirl in Vegas AND their kids, and still have enough to carry me & MY girls through to the afterlife. Sad, but true.
PMPL that is me too :0) xxxJoolsxxx
If you put it that way, yea that sounds about right! I have a problem.
I’d run out of foundation right away. I hit the pan of mine MONTHS ago, and I’m still in the process of running out, plus I take it off in the middle of the day and reapply later. I use LOTS of gloss, so that would probably come next. I occasionally use my concealer, but it’s already half-finished, so then it’d be that. It would take a WHILE for me to run out of eyeliner, but I do use it every day, so then it would be that. I usually don’t do lipstick and I don’t do blush every day, so that might literally never run out. I have so much eyeshadow that it would take years.
Christine, I was wondering how long you keep open products? I thought most products should only be kept for up to a year after you first open it..? (I know this is a theoretical question and all.. but I’m just wondering..)
It actually varies by the type of product. Mascara is the quickest to go bad, with powders being of longer shelf-life.
I, personally, keep and ditch products based on whether they’ve changed texture, smell, color, etc. This is why I also use disposable lipgloss wands (but they’re recyclable!) to extend the life of my glosses and sanitize others.
i think it would take me 5 years to finish my foundations, ten years to finish all my blushes and 20 years to run out of eyeshadow.
Lucky you! I wish I had enough foundation to last me 5 years! I have like one bottle of foundation and a few setting powders.
Lipstick and glosses would be next to go, but I’d probably hate wearing all of them.
I have enough eyeshadow to last me years, blush, too! Liner and mascara, not so much…
I would run out of foundation, powder, concealer, UDPP, and mascara pretty quickly since I have only a couple of each on hand. I’d eventually run out of eyeliner, but that would take a while. And I’d probably never run out of eyeshadow and blush. I’d run out of my favorite colors, of course, but I don’t think I could ever totally use up every single color I own.
Oh, I forgot lip products! They would last me quite a while. I don’t have a ton of lipstick, but I do have a lot of glosses. Since they don’t last forever, and I go through lip color pretty slowly, I’ll probably have to toss at least some of them before they’re empty.
I don’t like this question…the thought of not being able to buy beauty products freaks me out!
I’ll just skip this one and chime in on the next question of the day :).
If I used it everyday, I would probably run out in two months or something.
Oh god it would take me like about 2 to 3 years!
i would probably run out of foundation to but my brush cleanser would be gone first
all my foundation would run out first but my brush cleanser would be gone before any cosmetics because I wash my brushes everyday!!!!! 🙂
I’d run out of my regular face stuff one day (like foundation, powder, stuff like that) but I’d never run out of blush, shadows, lip porducts, ever. I could’ve paid cash for a brand new car and still have a tiny fortune left over if I had all that money back right now. **sigh** it’s sad but what can ya do, an addict’s an addict lol
I could go about 6 months with skin care, sunscreen, foundation, and mascara. I’d last several years with lipsticks, glosses, and eyeshadow. I have about 5 years worth of nail polish if worn every day, but I’d run out of nail polish remover in about 4-6 months.
Many, many years. I buy makeup like it’s going out of style..but I don’t actually wear it that often. I’m super lazy.
Hmm…
Well, assuming that I wouldn’t be applying things as I normally do (usually I use foundation as a concealer (only putting it in places for sheer coverage), set it with some powder, then add blush if the foundation covered up my cheeks too much, add some liquid liner on the top lid (if any – sometimes I skip), and lip balm – sometimes lipstick…but usually I don’t, because I always thought using lipstick made it too obvious I was wearing makeup.) and going all-out…not long. I’m not one to go experimenting with things and getting things in every color (I do that with nail polish though, lol) because I never wind up using it anyway…even with eyeshadow, I NEVER use eyeshadow. whenever I do use it, it is only on very special occasions and all I add is some brown in the crease with some sort of highlight color to the inner corners/brow bone. It was getting to the point where I would find myself buying all these glosses and lipsticks and whatnot, using them a few times, them putting them away for like ever when I get a new one. I stopped buying them all together because I never actually wind up using them up.
I wish I had your willpower and stop buying makeup!
Probably about a 6months – a year. I’ve got an even amount of everything so it would all probably run out at the same time. Except skincare. But by then I would just die cause I can’t live without it lol
I’m pretty sure I’d never finish my eyeshadows and pigments…
I’d probably run out of foundation within the first couple of years 😛
I’ll probably run to of my concealer first….but I think I could live without it….the foundation…I can live without that too without freaking out too much….
I recently started using them so it’s not that bad….
Mascara, eyeliner and lipgloss I probably would freak out about…not enough to cry over for.
I think I’ll cry if I have to give up my skincare….I don’t think I could put up with that…unless I use oats and honey or some kind of concoction
o.O;;
honestly..the rest of my life. i have well over 400-500 eyeshadows. I’d run out of foundation in about a year or so. but i’d never ever run out of eyeshadows, lipgloss, or lipstick. it’s horrid. -hangs head in shame-
Foundation, mascara probably 1 year.
Blush, 2 years.
Lipsticks, eyeshadows, eyeliner, 10+ years, I don’t have a lot like everyone else but I rarely use them. Probably sounds weird but I like owning them more than actually using them.
Never – I have so much makeup, I could never wear it all in my lifetime. Perhaps 3-4 people could never wear it in their lifetime! LOL
Thank God there is someone like me. I could never go through all of mine either.
kindred spirits! 🙂
I run out of skincare first, and then liquid stuff like foundation, mascara, eyeliner, etc. I almost never run out of stuff like blush/eyeshadow because its not like you would use the same colours everyday.
I always feel really bad for buying more skincare when I haven’t finished the ones I currently have, but I never feel bad for buying more makeup, LOL!
that is so true…I would run out of skin care products and foundation. It takes forever to finish eyeshadows and lipstick.
Foundation, I’ve got a little under a half of the pan left.
I would run out of my regular skincare products, concealer, foundation and mascara in about a year, but I have enough blush, gloss and probably e/s to last me until eternity.
Haha! The same with me! 🙂
Enough for both my daughters to have until they die. Except for foundation and mascara. I go through those very quickly.
Sorry for freaking you out with the thought of not being able to buy make up ever again, lol! 🙂
I would never run out of make up, not in this lifetime anyway. The first to go would be make up remover (6 months), skincare products, foundation, face/eye primers, and face powder (in this order), then mascara after a few years. Would never run out of eyeshadows, blushes, highlighters, shimmer powders, lipsticks and lipglosses.
Still it doesn’t stop me from buying more, lol!
Well lets see.
My foundation/skincare – That’d be gone in 2 months or so.
My blush/powder – 6 months maybe?
Lipstick/gloss – A year/18 months
Eyeliner – 18 months or so
Eyeshadow – I doubt I’d ever run out! 😛
I’d probably use up all of my Foundation first, then in a panic.. I’d Jersey Shore myself out with bronzer pretending it’s foundation to ease my anxiety. I have enough eyeshadows/pigments to last me several lifetimes *sigh*. I’m a sucker for those cute eyeshadows that come in the black pot! I have tons of lippies, but only use a certain few.. so I doubt I’d run out.
as first i run out of skincare stuff, and then maybe foundation.
i’m quite sure i’ll never run out of blushes and eyeshadows.
I believe my mascara would run out first, followed by foundation. I think lipsticks, eyeshadows and rouge will be the prodicts I will never finish.
yes, excellent question!
i’ll probably run out of skincare very quickly…lipstick eventually because i suppose they’ll go bad in a few years…but eyeshadow never! i’ll probably be handing eyeshadow down to my daughters one day 😉
I’d run out of foundation in a year or so. I don’t buy multiple blushes, so that comes next. I throw out and replace mascara, eyeliner, and lipgloss every three months so I would go through my stash in about a year. Eyeshadows would probably last forever!
I’d need to be a cat and have 9 lives to use up all of my make-up, either that or changing make-up every hour of the day for the rest of my life.
Of course I’ll run out of foundation in a couple of years, and of blushes in 3/4 years, but I’ll never run out of e/s, lipstick and all.
Total, around 10 years. I have a few Shadows that I never wear yet are quite pigmented so they’d last quite a while. First to go would be moisturizer, then in the following order: mascara, face powder, makeup remover, eye primers &bases, eye liners, foundation, lip balms, lip gloss, blush, lipstick, eye shadow.
The thought of this doesn’t really scare me. I’d probably be more outdoorsy and get naturally better skin that way. Wouldn’t mind at all.
I always say that it would last me through another 3 new years/Christmases, or I could pass them to my little girl when she’s old enough to use makeup (like she has not started using some of my lippies now!)….but it will definitely be a very very long time!
Perhaps, I would run out of foundations/powders 1st. but definitely not my eyeshadows, blushes and lippies!
between 2 and 3 years. I have a good amount and i don’t wear it everyday.
I’d probably run out of foundation in about six months to a year. Mascara even sooner. My eye shadows and liners could probably last me a couple years, and my lip products even longer- not because I have a lot (I have three lipsticks in total), but because I use them so rarely. 🙂
I would run out of foundation and blush in about 2 months, lipsticks and gloss probably 2 months, eye shadows would take at least a year if not a year and a half. The only reason I would run out so fast is I just did a major purge of anything I havent worn in at least a year which is really hard to do but needed to be done. Then after the purge I rewarded myself with new gloss and a urban decay palette.
I’ve got another question for you if it hasn’t been done already 🙂
Are there any products (limited edition/discontinued) that you regret not buying/missing out on?
I wouldn’t run out of eyeshadow, lipstick, gloss, liner, nail polish, blush, pigments. I would only run out of lashes, lash glue, primer, foundation, and mascara. The rest is stocked up for like in doubles if I really liked it. I’m talking years and years of collecting and it’s still in it’s original box and some in the refridgerator to keep it’s shelf life. I have more makeup in there than food, sad, but I’d rather have my face gorgeous than eat anything.
it wouldn’t take me forever but it would last years. I’d run out of foundation by 2011, i’m sure(probably sooner). You have to replace mascara, so i’d run out of that soon too. i don’t think I’d ever run out of eyeshadow and blush. I’ve got enough pigments now that can double as both and i’ve got about 50 eyeshadows, so i think that’ll last me decades, if not forever.
I’m with Danni — the question is too freaky to contemplate!
Did a stock count-15 blushers, 20 lipsticks, 60 eyeshadows, 2 stilla liquid foundation, 1 MAc foundation, 10 stilla face powders, 2 revlon colorstay, 12 eyepencils, 2 cleansers, …..will last 3 years?
Probably only about 2 years, but foundation probably 2-3 months.
foundation – let’s see, I have 2 at the moment, one with about 2mths left in it, the other 3 – so that’s 5mths right there. Lipsticks and glosses – a good number of years at least (assuming we live in a world where things don’t go bad, right!), and eyeshadows and nail varnish – probably the rest of my life? 😉
It would take me about 2 years to use up everything. That’s if I used makeup everyday.
Morning. Like everyone else I would run out of concealer and foundation pretty quickly. I am half way through my concealer and founcation if used everyday would probably take about two years maybe less (I’m guessing). I am just about out of skincare and need to re up on that. Eyeshadows and blushes and lippees would take about two years. I dont’ have alot compared to many. But I have a lot since I only wear make up the weekends with the exception of concealer, foundation and lippees.
It would take about a year maybe year and a half but I would run out of foundation first. I wish I could resist the urge to buy more and use up what I have first.
I’d finish everything within a year or two easy… except some eyeshadows and blushes would take years.
I’d run out of foundation in about 1.5 years but not all stuff I still like to use. I’m sure my blushes would last until I croaked because it’s not like I pile it on and I have a good variety. Lipsticks and glosses probably 5-7 years then I’d run out. UDPP about 2 years worth in my room right now. Eyeliner a good 3 years. But I’d run out of basics like black and brown sooner. And my eyeshadow would last me until I’m 6 feet under.
I throw away my mascaras every 3 months, lip products at least once a year. I would run out of pressed powder and black eyeliner in about 6 months. Colored eyeliner, and blush, I’d be good for a couple years. Eyeshadow and nail polish, I’m set for life.
would probably run out of foundation(I only have one bottle that i use regularly,uh,the other one I try to pretend its not there),concealer and bronzer.
maybe lipsticks will come next.
but glosses, blush and eyeshadows will last me a life time!(my blushers dun ever seem to budge, and i dun actually have alot, just 5)
Hahah, a really long time. I have 3 half full bottles of foundation, 2 Studio Fix’s and a few tubes of concealer. That should last at least a year or more. Next would be UDPP since I have an XL backup to my regular size version. After that would be Feline eyeliner and mascara. I must have at least 4-6 backups of each. Blush goes a long way too. I’m probably set for lipstick, eyeshadow and lipgloss (if I opened them as needed) for several years.
My foundation would probably run out in about 1 year. I’d have to repurchase mascara and liquid liners though since they’d dry up. The blushes, eyeshadows, and lipsticks I own would probably last me the rest of my life and more 😛
Even if Inever buy MU again, I think my daughters can have some in heritage!
What would run out first, probably foundation, but I could never run out eyeshadows, I have so many!
I’ve juste known your website (from a french blog), and it’s really amazing, ther is so many things, I fell in love with Mac spring colors collection, purples are… wow!
Please don’t take notice of my faults, I’m french, and didn’t speak english for à long time…
All my best wishes for this new year.
bye!!
Happy you found us! Never apologize for your English, because it is great 🙂
Skincare would be first. I’m using samples right now as it is. Mascara would be next. I don’t keep multiples of those for some reason. Foundation and lip products would last me a few years. Blush and nail polish would probably get me through the next decade. I’ll be passing eye shadows down to my great grandchildren at the rate I’m buying them.
Ooooh, what great questions. I would run out of foundation and various primers within a couple of months. Then blushes, lipsticks/glosses, and mascara would start to run low. I have enough eyeliners and shadows to last me a long, long time! Makes me wonder why I felt the need to pick up a new eyeshadow last night…
i’d probably run out of primers and skincare items first. second would be foundations and powders. third would be all the lipsticks and glosses which would take years upon years. it would probably take me quite a long time if not a decade to go through all the pigments, eyeshadows, palettes, and blushes.
I think the rest of my life. I am serious! I would run out of key things but it would take me forever at the rate I use it.
I would never run out of eyeshadow, lipstick, lipgloss, blush or mineralize skinfinish!
I have enough makeup to meet my great great great grandchildren’s cosmetic needs, but I would run out of foundation, concealer, mascara, and fix +.
For colour cosmetics such as eyeshadow, lipsticks/glosses and blushes and nailpolishes, I think it would take 5-6 years plus. For coverup such as concealer, foundation, MSF Natural it would in between one to two years. Mascaras and skin care items would take in between 2-4 months.
In about 5 years I would run out of eyeshadows, finishing powder and blush – about the same time w/ lipstick and concealer too. I suppose in a year I would run out of eyeliner and foundation. My cleansing oil and moisturizer would only last for about 6 months.
You know, honestly? I’d probably run out of concealer in about three months… then after that sunscreen would be the next to go at maybe 4 months or so. After that… I probably have enough primer, foundation and powder to last a good year or year and a half, and I definitely have enough blush, eye primer and eyeshadow to last the next decade. I might run out of lipstick first, but only because it goes bad faster too.
Ohhh great question… kinda makes me want to go out and buy more just in case this should happen! haha
Foundation/moisturizer/mascara/brow pencil – 3 to 6 months
MSF powder – 6 to 12 months
Eyeliners/cream blush/paint pots – 2 years
blush – 8 to 10 years
eyeshadows/nail polish – never
It would probably take me 5 years. With the exception of foundation. I tend to go through those and would at least need a new one in a year or so.
With the exception of skincare stuff (lotion, cleanser, toner, etc.) it would probably take me another year or so to finish all the foundations I have (including ones I dislike) and then after that I probably wouldn’t have to buy any until I was 50. (I’m not that old right now)
I have enough eyeshadow to last me till I am at least 100. I am just getting started in my collection of lipgloss and lipstick. With what I have right now it would probably be 5 years before I ran out. It is definitely an addiction. But if you are going to have an addiction it might as well be make up.
I’d be in big trouble if I couldn’t buy any more makeup. Pencil eyeliner would be gone in the next 2 week. Lipbalm would be gone in 3 weeks. Liquid eyeliner and mascara the following month.I just bought blush but idk how long that would last. Skincare and foundation would be all gone in 2-3 months. I’ve got enough lipstick and gloss for a year or two. Eyeshadow could probably stretch to 2-3 years, but I’d run out of my favorites fast.
i guess i would run out of foundation and powders after about 8-12 months and it would take me about 10 years to run out of eyeshadows lol
With daily application, I’d have skincare for a few more weeks, foundation for the rest of the year, lip products for 24 months, and eyeshadow and blush for at least 3-4 years. Could be more extreme, I suppose.
skincare, and foundation will go first but make up? forever probably.
Never run out of color. Mascara would be first to go
It would take several years to run out of eye shadows, blushes and powders. I would have to replace lip products in a year or two(or sooner if they go bad), but mascara every few months, and skincare and cleansers every couple/few months.
I think I’d run out of concealer first and then go about a year for foundation and skin care but years for the rest. I have soooo many lipsticks and eye shaddows but can’t resist trying new ones. I tossed a lot recently but still have A LOT. Yeah, I could pass them out in the afterlife also 🙂
probably run out of concealer and foundation first, since i’m almost out of them now. As for blushes, lippies, eye shadows, would be till my after life. Will never run out of them in my lifetime.
I’d run out of skin makeup and eyeshadow primer within a few months. Same goes for mascara and liquid eyeliner.
But aside from that, it’d literally take me years to run out of eyeshadow, lippies, blush, and other makeup essentials! 😀
I wouldnt say forever, but it would definitely take years! I have soooo many palettes, and untouched mascaras and lip products
I would totally run out of mascara within the month. Then I wouldn’t bother wearing any makeup anymore because my eyelashes are so light, it just doesn’t look right without mascara.
It would take me about 5 to 8 years
Wow, what a great question. Really makes you stop and think about what you ‘need’ to buy, and will you really use it up? At 32 I’m finding that with makeup (like my miniskirts), I’m outgrowing some of the colors and finishes before I every use them up. So, foundations I get every 6-9 months, powders once a year, shadows and lip stuff maybe 5 yrs when I think about it. My goal is to only buy what I know I will get a lot of use out of. I hate to waste anything that I bought because it looks amazing, but never fit into my style. 😉
Years. I think it would take me years to use everything up. How many, I don’t know. But it would definitely take years, plural. LOL! I think I would run out of mascara first, followed by eyeliner. I don’t think I would ever run out of eyeshadow, however. That is one thing I buy and buy and buy, it’s my weakness!
I’d run out of foundation/powder/concealer pretty quickly since I only have one of each. However, my e/s, blushes, and lip stuff would probably last for years.
Will definitely run out of foundation and skincare type stuff first. Lipsticks/glosses next cause I don’t buy that many. Eyeshadows and blushes would las practically forever I think!!
Same, I literally have enough makeup to last me over a lifetime. I would run out of foundation, concealer and eyeliner first. I would never have to repurchase pigments or lipsticks.
Can’t even focus on such a question. I routinely purge my collection giving things to my friends that I don’t absolutely love or am bored with. Only try to keep what is current and absolutely flattering on ME, so while I have much (MUCH) it will be things that I use. Eyeshadow in my current stash would last FOREVER I think!
Foundation soon! I use foundation pretty much everyday. But for the rest it could last me a life time!
I would like to say a year, assuming nothing expired. I’d run out of mascara first, since I only have 2. I’ve never really had problems with buying too much mascara, I just need to stay away from everything else 😛
Agreed on Foundation/Skincare… but other than that, I’ve got enough e/s, pigments, blush, msfs, lippies, to last me a very very verrrrryyyy long time. kind of sad. haha
OMG….it would probably take me at least a year…not because I have SO much, but because I pretty much only wear full makeup twice a week.
I could use my eyeshadows and nailpolishs life-long, but I would run out of all other face products. Probably moisturizer and mascara first.
5 years? I have foundation I haven’t even broken the seal on and about 15 mascaras (some samples) so yeah…lol. I tried to do a gloss out but that didn’t work. I did a blush and foundation ban and it worked so maybe I’ll try that.
