If you could only bring one makeup product with you when you traveled, what would it be? Why?

It’d definitely be tinted moisturizer–skin that looks more even is always something that is an instant boost for me.

A good creamy concealer. I need the spot treatment because of a facial scar but you can also mix it with moisturizer to create your own tinted moisturizer! Great forgiven skin tone.

I would cheat and take a palette 😛 in seriousness, I absolutely need concealer to convince people the zombie apocalypse hasn’t begun.

Mascara! It’s able to be dressed up, dressed down, and if you are just a little creative it can be made into eyeliner in a pinch 🙂

Pawsha ahaha!! You made me laugh.
I would probably say the same thing.
I would never travel without foundation and mascara, to say the least! I really can’t pick only one!! But it’s also true that if my skin was more flawless/slightly tanned I would probably get away with mascara only (I have long but blonde lashes)!

can’t bring one item only. I need foundation + powder (In all seasons), eyebrow definer as my brows are invisible (pale blonde), mascara and eyeliner. that’s the basic minimum I require to step outside my door…

Rosie Avatar

I would go with mascara or eyeliner. No, eyeliner. I’m not huge on lashes but I do like eyeliner and if worn right can make your eyelashes look okay too. Plus you can wear it so many ways.

Lena Avatar

I’d go with mascara too!

One question concerning tinted moisturizer: I had the MAC one and I always had the problem that it streaked on me if it was a little warmer and I did sweat a bit. It was kind of running away… Also when I used powder on top 🙁 Do you have any suggestions of which tinted moisturizer to use and how to prevent streaking?

Elsa Avatar

brow powder… I can do with no concealer and no mascara, but my eyebrows are very sparse towards the ends and when I fill them in they frame my face better. It makes all the difference 🙂

I’d bring a highlighter – I always look dull without it even with tinted moisturiser or foundation. I’d really miss my concealer and mascara though.

I’m splitting hairs here because it does say “make up product” and I’d class tinted moisturizer and even tinted lip balm as “skin care”, so those would not count, IMO, as “makeup”. So I’d probably choose blush or even lipstick (which I could use as blush in a pinch!) because I am so pale!

…or, having thought about this a while longer, I might actually opt to STAY HOME if this was the condition of travelling (or maybe I’d shop for some makeup when I got to the destination!!!!) This question has made me realize just how many products I rely on every day just for a basic look to be presentable when I leave the house! Oh, the joys of aging!

If it truly can only be one item then I’d say a concealer w/good coverage. If I can bring two, then it’d be Laura Geller Balance n Brighten and a retractable kabuki.

Origins Vitazing! It’s all I need!
Have you tried it Christine. I’m a tinted mositurizee girl like you and once I tried it it’s all I use now! I think you would like it.

If skin lotions are not included, then I’d have to bring an SPF tinted moisturizer (and maybe get away with it to cover dark circles!) – Khiel’s or Laura Merc.

If regular lotions are allowed, then just an under-eye concealer.

I usually bring my Bare Minerals Matte Foundation. It doubles as a concealer too. And if that is the only thing I can bring I would stop at a drugstore to get some lippie & eye product (he he he).

Becca Avatar

well, I have two, one face, and one eye. Obviously the face one wouldn’t be necessary if I had clear skin, it depends on when it would be… but yeah, concealer ad mascara, NO QUESTION!!!!!

I am with the eyebrow folks! Gotta have my brow product. I have such pale hair and invisible brows (and lashes for that matter). If I don’t have a brow product on, I look really sick and ready for the hospital! Pale face, really blond hair. If I had a 2nd choice it would be tinted moisturizer with spf in it (I know..all the dermatologists out there are saying #2 should be #1, and actually it is in there – I never go out without those 2 things on – often because I am not all that vane, I am fine just with those 2 things on to run out on errands).

I like the lip balm response as well too. I am never without balm on my lips in the house or out (though sometimes when out it’s a tinted balm AND gloss as well). My lips are the driest thing on my face it seems. I am in love with Fresh Sugar’s lip treatment – but ugh – the $$$$. I order my fav ‘other’ balm from drugstore.com in bulk – Blistex Herbal – only place I can find that ‘flavor.’

Lip mositurizer nothing too sticky just very moisturizing like Palmers cocoa butter moisturizer. Can serve as a cuticle softener, eye cream and lotion in a pinch.

Maureen Avatar

My complexion COMPLETELY CHANGED (for the better) when I started wearing Neutrogena Healthy Defense daily moisturizer SPF 50 (sensitive skin).

Laurel Avatar

Now that I’ve found my HG eye cream, I could possibly do without concealer (I’d be cranky about it the whole time, though) and go for mascara. Even though my eyelashes are the darkest black they can be, they are so straight and impossible to curl that in order for me to look like I have eyelashes at all I have to pile on mascara. Otherwise, I look odd and it’s like something is wrong with my face but you can’t figure out what. haha

Yumi Avatar

Foundation or tinted moisturizer…then I would cheat and buy some cheap drugstore lip balm cuz it drives me insane to have bare lips!

Jennifer McCandliss Avatar

My mineral foundation. It just makes me look so perfect. I’d rather look like I wasn’t trying to look good and just had perfect skin then look like I was only trying to make 1 thing stand out I.e. Eyelashes with mascara.

Miss Nicole Avatar

MUFE Flash Palette.

Because its brow color, eye color, foundation, concealor, contouring, everything.

although, my eyelids are NASTY oily. so idk what i would do to fix that… =/

Francine Avatar

I was about to say eyebrow filler (I use a MAC E/S), however, I just realized that my full bangs cover my eyebrows so it’s not a necessity! If I could bring only ONE I would pack MAC Select Cover Up because it’s super small packaging with a super lightweight wear that I can use alone or mixed in with my moisturizer!

Niki Avatar

OK, I am going to be totally honest, if I could only bring one product when traveling – I would stay home and I am serious for what is purpose looking really bad while traveling? 🙂

Hannah Avatar

This is a tough one, but I’d have to say mascara. My skin is generally pretty good, with the exception of a few darker spots from past breakouts. I’d be fine with going out with nothing on my face if I had to. But mascara just makes me look so much more awake and polished.
