I would want lots of bright shades with fun colors for eyeshadow and eyeliner for sure. I like the idea of a mix of wearable and fun lipsticks and blushes, too.
Thanks to Lindsay for today’s question! Got a question idea? Submit yours here.
-Packaging style would be mod- simple, rectangular clear Lucite.
-Powder eyeshadows that are pigmented and versatile, can be worn wet/dry.
-Cream eyeshadows that can be worn either creamy for priming or to a dry finish that lasts all day.
-Rectangular shaped lipgloss tubes (no rolling around! =) with brush applicators, lipgloss would be non sticky and opaque in a variety of finishes (shimmer, matte, etc)
-A matte liquid blush that has optional shimmer that can be added according to preference.
-Foundations in a pump bottle.
– A matte liquid blush that has optional shimmer that can be added according to preference.
-Liquid Lipliners, similar to lip stains but in neutral colors.
-Lipstick that could transform textures according to preference-sheer, creamy, long lasting, etc.
A makeup collection from the future! Lol.
I would a kind of art studio kind of look for to my line.
with paint cans looking pots for cream shadows
Paintbrush named after artists for the brushes
palettes that look like artist palettes with maybe canvas feeling textures for the cases
lipsticks that look like pastel crayons
Colors from all around the spectrum more color wheel colors and highly pigmented… but with also a good amount of mattes and shimmers and duochrome colors.. this goes for the whole line 🙂
I love shopping at art supply stores, so I love your concept! 😀
First of all a good foundation (really good and wearable and natural) for oil skin!
Then, a true black mascara -which curls and adds lenght and adds volume!-, lots of lipsticks and lipglosses (from natural shades to vibrant reds!) and good and affordable brushes!!
Hehehe =)
a linea of mat, natural eyeshadow
a linea of make up that will enchange the natural beauty of everyone for categories…
es. blonde hair blue eyes blue mat eyeshadow or lillac, pink eyeshadow veery natural
me, im mediterranean a bronze terra, a noisette brown on the lid ecc…
green eyes gray eyeshadow..
very Parisian- chic :)winged liner, sheer foundation, liquid luminizer, a volume mascara, lip balms,a matte lipstick- a Creme Cup- esque shade- Also for summer- (i know, obviously i havent found my exact products) a bronzing gel and a bold magenta lipstick.
– great range of neutral eye-shadows in every finish and matte brights
– non-sparkly-glittery lipglosses (like liquid lipstick)and of course classic glosses
– brow-powders and liners in a wide range of shades
– non-mineral ultra-fine highlighters for very pale to very dark skin
-blushes in all kind of finishes and colors (kind of like mac)
– no drying lipsticks
-focus on a wide range of concealers and correctors as from my experience when you have a good one you don’t need foundation!!!
– extra-fine-milled powders with matte to semi-matte finish
-waterproof pencil-liners in nature inspired colors
-wide range of gel/cream liners that can be used as e/s too
-good mascaras but not too many
I would have neutral eyeshadows, maybe golds & ballerina pinks, and light pink blushes, HOT PINK lipstick/gloss for sure, & a light bronzer & highlighter 🙂
I think it would be a very classic collection…
Foundations in a wide array of shades, good concealers to cover up even the most unsightly blemish, wearable shades of mascara, liquid liner, classic matte blusher, lipstick in every shade of red so there’s a suitable color for everyone and a selection of good brushes.
You know the trouble you have to go through to transfer your MAC shadows (in the basic case) to a palette? Well, I’d make the shadows so that if you like them the way they are, that’s fine, but you can easily switch them to palettes too.
I’d have a permanent line of blush ombres (and regular ones too!), a versatile selection of eyeliners that don’t tug at the lid, and handmade brushes at an affordable price. And how about a brush cleaner that has basically the same formula as MAC’s but for half the price? Ooohh!
i actually do have my own line of loose pigment eye shadows. I have a mixture of brights, neutrals and in between shades.
I would focus on purity of the ingrediants and longevity of the wear, and overall quality. I think I would do a lot of day to night sort of products- day-wearable (not boring though) to party all night.
Bright eyeshadows, lots of greens and purples actually. A couple of pencil liners as well as some gel liners, same colors. A good choice of natural, rosy peachy blushes as well as one or two more dramatic blush colors (a deep purple maybe). 4 lipsticks and 4 lipglosses, including the perfect peach in both lipstick and lipgloss form. Probably one purple combo as well as maybe a lipgloss with a purple and green duochrome.
And, of course, a very cute packaging !!!
It would definitely contain products safe for those suffering from acne and oily skin.
I would pay most attention to a palette that had just really unexpected items in it. Like stuff you would want to do your whole face plus a little something fun. Like a good blush, contouring bronzer, a really wild highlighter that you could use to make things more night appropriate. Like a brown shadow cuz that is always a needed color, a cream liner like a purple or dark green. And either a solid perfume or scented beauty powder. I love palettes with a scented powder (i think philosophy did one recently) because companies seem to make either going out palettes or basic travel items, but even when you travel you need something a little unexpected to make it fun. I guess that’s just me though who thinks applying makeup is so fun that I want to do it extra on vacations.
I think I’d want to zero in on a limited “5-minute-face” theme for my collection. I’d include tinted moisturizer, concealor, a few chubby eye pencils that could double as shadow or liner, a handful of cream blushes and about 15 lipstick and lipgloss shades that veered towards more neutral pinks, nudes and peaches.
Simple colors in a few finishes. Nothing terribly complex/duochromey/frosty, but a basic matte and pearly in a variety of bright and neutral shades. So, similar to MUFE’s selection of brights, but more variety of finishes.
That includes lipsticks in odd colors like Navy, Green, Blue.
Also, a variety of sparkle colors and sizes.
So really, a blend of the selection you see in UD eyeshadows/eyeliners, MUFE eyeshadows and lipsticks, Fyrinnae lip lustres and eyeshadows, and colors like the MAC Dare to Wear collection.
Tons and tons of contouring products !
I’d try to make a lip line of really unusual colors with a range of opacity and textures. Is it so much to ask for emerald green or gunmetal gray liquid lipstick? Apparently it is.
Packaging that stacked like Lego blocks, every piece designed to conjoin with containers in past and future collections. So I’d be able to stack, build and join the stuff I liked, save counter space, and slip into my bag without spilling.
A phone app that took a picture of my face, relayed it to the make-up counter and immediately matched me with the right colours.
Foundation that intuitively changed into a shade darker when I tanned.
Pre-made-up masks that would transfer their contents onto my face when i wore them. No blending, no application. Yayy.
Oh god, I’m so lazy!
My biggest focus – foundation/tinted moisturizers for sensitive skin and broader range for all skin tones. Still pissed that Chanel discontinued my shade, Soft Honey – Teint Innocence foundation.
multipurpose things that are creamy yet don’t turn into an oilslick after a few hours and don’t crease on the lid but aren’t too drying for the lips.
lots and lots of stains in all sorts of colours, not just that pinky berry one every brand makes, and NOT in pen form. those dry out sooo fast.
maybe some sheer yet thick lipsticks. like texture of mac satin and matte lipsticks with the payoff of lustres and glazes.
and liquid lipstickkkkkkkk!!!!!! they’re the best things ever but so few brands have them.
Ohh! Like your April fool’s prank last year?
That would be so awesome. You should start a line. 😛
Rich pigmented shadows that stay true and command attention.
Slick lipgloss that can last through 2 cups of Starbucks coffee and talking through a 2 hour presentation.
Makeup foundation that can whip oily skin into shape and zap acne breakouts before they can even think of happening.
And lastly, nail polish colors so bright and dramatic they can be seen from space! 😉
I love Art Deco and Classic Hollywood, so the packaging of my makeup collection would be super retro looking.
As for the products, I would create customizable palettes, along with a few pre-made ones named after my favorite movie stars. The individual components would include: cream foundations and concealers, brow cakes, eyeliner cakes, eyeshadows, blushes and highlighters and pressed powders. I would also create packaging for mascaras and liquid products like primers, etc. that could be attached to or integrated into the palettes.
It’s funny — I can picture in my head exactly how the products in the collection would look, but I can’t for the life of me come up with a decent name!
Oh, such a fun question. I would definitely include:
-Tinted lip balms! The perfect one, which doesn’t exist in real life and was the item that first catapulted me into the world of makeup. Mine would have SPF, last a long time, be sheer, come in a great range of bright colors, and have handy, attractive packaging.
-Finely milled eyeshadows that last without creasing and don’t require primers.
-Non-gimmicky mascaras. One version for day, one for night, and waterproof versions of each.
-Moisturizing, long-lasting lipsticks.
-A super easy, super effective concealer in a great range for every skin tone.
That’s the makeup I want to use and probably what I would focus on most. While liners and primers and brushes are great, I don’t use them on a daily basis and so not as interested.
Heh, I have already done this, about 4 collections so far I think, each with a different theme.
The collection I did JUST for me though, called Christina Loves, has my favourite colours, shades and textures and features 10 eyeshadows, 5 e/s duos (but if I was gonna do it for real, I’d probably end up with quads), 10 lipsticks, 10 glosses, 3 blushers and 2 highlighters.
I have a really good idea about the colours and finishes I prefer, mostly wearable (with several purples e/s, a liner and nailpolish, cos I LURVE purple!) and I had the most fun coming up with names for all the products… Like a bright metallic green nailpolish called Zucchini Attacks! in reference to a memorable and quite hilarious gardening incident last year… And a raspberry/plum toned blush called Kitchen Bitch.
I had so much fun doing it!
random question: will you ever depot all your blushes, cream bases, etc? and if you do will you write a blog post about it?
I have no plans to do so at this time!
– Everything in the line would be oil-free, have SPF 15+, and be free of artificial fragrances and dyes;
– All of the color collection would be available with in shimmer, matte, or satin formulas (as in you would have your choice of the same dark red lipstick in matte, shimmer, or satin);
– All of the cosmetics could be purchased a la carte so that you could make your own palettes;
– No animal testing whatsoever;
– A nice balance of everyday neutrals and more imaginative shades;
– All color products would have refills available, even tube lipsticks;
– Glosses would not be overly sticky, but still long-lasting;
– Texture and color pay-off would both be excellent, with no fall-out;
– It would feature high-quality, multi-use brushes for a reasonable price;
– Eyeshadows sets/palettes would not come with horrid little sponge applicators…I would include more color product instead;
– You would have the option of special ordering any discontinued product shades for just a small additional fee;
– Packaging would be minimalistic yet substantial, with extra-large mirrors in all compacts – and the ability to resist fingerprints!
– I would offer makeup bags and mirror compacts that you could pay extra to have personalized;
– And of course, I would have a men’s line…and strive to create a retail atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable and free to be creative and beautiful in their own unique way…and I would also offer items whose proceeds would go to charity, as several other companies do. This is important to me.
My target market? Anyone and everyone interested in expressing themselves through makeup.
Damn, I am a dreamer.
“- You would have the option of special ordering any discontinued product shades for just a small additional fee;”
YES!
OILPROOF foundations, powders, concealers, and eye primers. Supposed oil control products do not control oil at all.

-a cream or liquid blush in red (i rarely see true red blushes), baby pink and plum
-a blood red, plum and brown lipstain or lip stick that dries (like loreal infallible)
-a red, black and clear lipgloss with no shimmers, semi opaque and non sticky
-spray foundation in white and ivory
-and maybe some cute accessories like with mac perhaps a necklace or something not too gaudy

Basic make up items is a must, so definitely your glosses and blushes and eyeshadows that can be used for everyday use, and a range of playfuls which will be released as limited edition; items that receive great reviews would be added to the permanent line. Packaging would be sleek, black, matte.
i would love to make something with the brightest of bright, with a rockabilly/50’s glamour/punk vibe. something similiar to sugarpill cosmetics. i really like em. awesome question!
