How often do you change your entire hair style/look? Share!

Never really… I’ve only had short hair twice in my life, and each time I do it, I wish I hadn’t.

I’ve had the same long hair with no bangs look since 7th grade, no changes, and I’m in my soph year of college now. I’m been meaning to switch it up, but I never get to it.

Jenna Avatar

I’m the same as you, every time i cut my hair short i regret it. Its finally at the length I want it, so my hair is always the same.
But my face “look” is ALWAYS different. I always change my eyebrows, whether they are arched or more rounded they are always different because I like it that way. My makeup is always different, I take inspiration from everything so i like changing it up every day.

I change my hair color and cut as often as possible! I’ve been a brunette, a blonde, redhead etc. I’ve had hair down to my waist, and recently I got a boy cut. I love changing it up, and I feel like figuring out how to work a new look is really fun and exciting.

Emily Avatar

I change my hair fairly often. It generally goes the same route of growing it really long, getting miserable with the summer heat and humidity, and chopping it all off. I’ve also put hot pink streaks in it, cut in bangs, etc… I love changing my hair! And, as my mom always told me, if you don’t like it, it’s just hair, it’ll grow back. 🙂

Joyce Avatar

Ummmmm like every 3 years? Lol. I’m so lazy when it comes to getting my hair cut. I haven’t colored it in years.

I had a full fringe once and liked it but now I just do side swept that just grow out.

Day to day, it’s either hair up in a bun or ponytail or completely down. I never straighten, style, or blow dry. The first two out of sheer laziness and lack of skill and the last because I find it’s a waste xP

I change my hair a lot! I’ve had it short-short (an inch) and a slightly longer pixie cut, I’ve had various lengths of bobs, I’ve had it really long (waist-lenght) no bangs, side-swept bangs, straight bangs, longer bangs, dyed every color under the sun and permed too. My hair is naturally very dark, and at the moment I have teal streaks in it. Next, I think I’m going for a full head of fire engine red!

I change my hair drastically at least twice a year. This year alone ive had curly blonde hair a bright red bob with bangs & now i’m wearing a wavy black wig while I decide my next move. I know a lot of girls are very emotional about their hair but to me it just isn’t a big deal. its just another accessory.

Amy Avatar

I feel the same when I get a haircut! I do like to switch up the shade of brown, but nothing like my pink hair in high school.

Christine, have you ever dyed or highlighted your hair? I’d love to hear your experience with it, although your hair is already an enviable, glossy color.

Christine Avatar

I dyed it as a teen, and it took me 3 or 4 years to grow it out entirely, so I have no desire to go back to dying my hair (I really love my natural color). I did highlights, too, when I was maybe 14 or 15. I don’t mind highlights, but they’re best if you keep up with them (though it depends on how dramatic they are). I know I’m terrible at keeping up with my hair! I’ve only done at-home dying (for all over color), though. My favorite was always Feria.

I haven’t changed my hair in over a decade, I’m a creature of habit I suppose. My makeup changes all the time though.

Lucie Avatar

I change it up pretty frequently, haven’t been able to keep the same cut/colour for more than six months since I was twelve or so. Even as a young kid I had access to a good professional stylist, so I got whatever groovy cut I could imagine and my mother would resignedly fork over the cash no matter how ridiculous it was. 😛 Currently my hair is about an inch long (growing out a buzz cut) and my natural golden brown colour, but three months ago it was long and cherry red, and another few months from now it might be a platinum mullet!

MakeupMonster Avatar

I change my color every now and then but I like my hair style.
It’s long, wild, dark and curly with bangs; it reflects who I am… A rock chick at heart 😉

sundrenched Avatar

Oh countless. In the past 4 months, I had black hair, brown hair, golden hair, pixie hair, shoulder length hair, long hair, curls, wavy… I pretty much change it when I’m bored. Trying to grow to shoulder length now and grow out my bangs

Deb Avatar

Oh gosh, I used to change my hair every year or two from the ages of 14 to now, 25. I haven’t changed my hair for about 2 years now though since I like it long and want to keep it this way for awhile 🙂 I’ve had short bobs, layered pixies, long wavy permed hair, highlights in 4 different colours, pin straight…I’ve done a lot!

Lee Avatar

The older I get, the less often I make drastic changes. (unlike in my twenties when I loved changing it up often) Now that I’m over forty, I feel like I’m pretty happy with my basic look (classic chin length bob) but I’ll tweak it to keep it current.

BP Avatar

I recently changed my hairstyle a little. A little shorter, a slightly different shape. But my whole look? Not very a very long time. It’s just not in me to be drastic all at once.

Jacquelin Avatar

I used to change it all the time until high school, and its stayed the same from then until now (my junior year in college). I have been thinking about doing a temporary dye job this summer though, just for the excitement!

Pamela Avatar

Hair is a woman’s crowning glory, her signature. Some women get joy in changing their locks frequently (Rihanna, Lady Gaga) but I think most women keep whatever works for them. I wear hair extensions and my friend/stylist gets mad at me for not being daring enough. But I know what works and what makes ME comfortable which is shoulder length, wavy. I will go lighter in spring/summer but I’m always brunette.

Paula Avatar

Constantly, although my hair is fairly short. I’m a natural brunette but I’ve been various shades of red and light brown and even jet black. I prefer my hair short because it looks like a rat’s nest when it gets too long; I’d shave my head if I didn’t think it would make it even harder for me to find a job.

Amanda Avatar

Every year or so! I get bored looking at myself in the mirror with the same look. I vary my make up, hair length and color. Been sporting a pixie cut for the past 6 months and loving it. 🙂 For make up it depends more on my mood. I’ve been in a rut the past few weeks and using just concealer, mascara and blush.

Luna Avatar

I think you would look awesome with side swept bangs.
Me particularly have had my hair in pretty much all of the “traditional” colors, but always long. I have way too much hair for a short style.

cori Avatar

since we’re talking about hair….. I’ve got an appointment coming up with the hair stylist. ( my hair just feels bland!! but its a love/hate relationship) currently I have long darkish/brown hair with no bangs! but I’m debating getting this hair cut ->

well… more or less every 5 years or so. Or when the fashion changes dramatically. I mean, looking back to pictures of 5 and 10 years ago, my hair style (colour, cut) was different. I guess it’s a bit about following the trend in hair shades (i am a blonde but have been wearing diff shades of blond) and hair cuts. It’s important for being up to date. However looks can be changes almost daily if you think “today i’ll do a ponytial”, “tomorrow way-curly style”, the other week was straight ironed etc etc.

Dusty Avatar

i change it often when i keep it short (like it is now). color, cut, etc. when it’s long i get kind of bored because i don’t do ANYTHING with it but keep it healthy (dull! lol!). lately i have been wanting something more drastic for summer… i have an urge to shave my head on camera just for fun 😛 if i shave my head i feel like i need a big beard though. hehe.

meme Avatar

I pretty much change my hair cut every 2 years. However, it’s not normally really radially different. I sort of grow into a bigger change letting a above or just below my ears cut grow out. Color, well I only do highlights. I have a great ash blond base color that I can go without any highlights. But I will put in some highlights off and on. Sometimes I keep up with them every 5 months. Then I will let them all grow out and go with my natural color. Pretty good for being as old as I am. Guess I am not going to go that yellow white or gray white color that many natural bonds go to in older age. Would have started to show by now I would think.

CeeBee Avatar

I don’t. I only get it trimmed when it gets too long and heavy, maybe once a year in summer when it gets really hot. I tell them to cut 3 or 4 inches off, texturize the remaining length to remove some bulk (I have super thick hair) and then in less than 6 weeks it looks pretty much the same as ever. Long brown waves.
I do dye my hair at home, but as close to my natural hair colour as possible (I use L’Oreal Excell in 6.41 which is supposedly Amber Light Brown or something, but it comes out much darker and with auburn highlights on me <- natural colour anyway) and I only do that to cover the pesky little grey hairs (I'm only 32 ferchrissakes!) and because it takes only 10 minutes.

I am super hair lazy. Wash it, comb it, go!

Chester Avatar

I have only changed my hair style in it’s entirety 3 times, alternating between long and short, and 2 times in terms of color, from natural brown to black for several years, and back to my natural hair color.

For styles, I prefer to wear my hair above shoulder-length now and get it cut about every 2 months. As a kid and teen I tried to grow my hair out but I have a weird combo of heavy+fine. Styling it when it was long was a nightmare, they couldn’t even hold a soft perm but held very well onto permanent dye. I don’t want to wear pony tails and chignons any more so instead I wear them short, maintenance and styling are a breeze now.

Brenda Avatar

Probably every 5 years I do something drastic, but it always winds up the same in the end. Long, no bangs, kinda beachy layered (my hair is somewhere between wavy and loose curls). That’s my lazy hair. I’m certainly no hairstylist, that’s for sure!!

I used to colour it to remove natural blonde highlights cuz I wanted darker hair. Then I was a hair model and they dyed it to pretty much my original colours, so I give up.

Lori Avatar

I change the color a whole lot more than I do the cut. And even when I do have it cut I’ll change the length only but I’ve had the same basic haircut for the past 20 years. I just realized how really boring that sounds but it works for me and unruly curls.

Phyrra Avatar

I change my hair as often as a get bored. Right now I’m blonde and fuchsia. It’s the first time I’ve gone blonde. I’ve done red, purple, black, teal, etc.

Anita Avatar

I do that a lot, lol 🙂 the longest my hair has ever been is shoulder-length and every once in a while I go back to a pixie cut. I’ve done it 3 or 4 times now. But now I’m trying to grow it out longer.

Andrea Avatar

I like changing my hair pretty often, but not really my makeup choices. But that’s probably because I like all kinds of color for my makeup.

Sarah Avatar

I had it pretty much the same for the past 3 years medium brown and wavy with layers but usually around the 3 year mark I start to get bored
so this time I went a little wild and went for the hair ombre trend I really like it

Juddde Avatar

Well, I’m a hairdresser. So I change my hair color almost every 2 weeks. I go from pink to red, purple, blue … I know it’s crazy! I think the only color I’ve ever worn is green. I frankly do not want to look like grass.

Ash L Avatar

I change my hair color every 1 or 2 years, but I’ve been growing it long for 3 years. I always change hairstyle and makeup for every day. Currently im a brunette that gets darker at the ends (ombré-ish) and elbow length.
