An hour and a half on my hair and makeup. I’m really slooow putting my makeup on!!! It always makes me late in the morning.

If I’m doing a smokey eye, adding false lashes or doing a winged eyeliner for a special occasion it might take me 2 hours. XD

I like to experiment with my eye makeup, like different combinations and placements, so I take a while. Plus I don’t have the steadiest hands when applying eyeliner and mascara, so I frequently have to go back and clean up stray blobs of stuff from my face. I have taken an hour to do my makeup before but 1.) because I had the time and I enjoy putting it on, and 2.) I was testing some stuff out. If it’s a look that I have done before, though, and I know exactly what I need to do, I can put on my makeup in under a half an hour. I’m too much of a perfectionist to do like a five or ten minute face. It’s just impossible for me!

30mins…I know…that’s a lot. But I think I spend some time thinking about what eyeshadow color combination to use with my outfit for the day. Used to be 15mins…when I just had one standard neutral palette haha gone are those days!

Viccy Avatar

After using moisturizer and face primer, it takes me about 30 mins! However, in my defense, I do a full face (I kinda have too due to acne, blotchy skin, small eyes, sparse brows, etc)…

10 minutes? I don’t preen too much unless I’m out to a special occasion like a party or a wedding. I use powder foundation, which is so easy to apply, a bit of shadow for the eyes, liner, mascara, blush, and i’m done. I have some gloss in my bag.

monica Avatar

weeelll…usually about 15-20 minutes. my makeup routine takes longer than actually getting dresesed, which is why i get dressed AFTER i put my makeup on.

Mora Avatar

usually between 20 and 25 minutes. but today i just had 20 seconds to apply mascara and that’s it. i took a train earlier to work and i hope that i can go home earlier, too.

Hinahon Avatar

It depends this morning: only 5 minutes
But usually I like to make more elaborated looks so it’s often 20/25 min…

By the way Christine:
Thank you SO much !!! You told me to try MAC PlushLash Mascara and I totally LOVE it !!
It’s just perfect !! So thank you !!

Evelyn Avatar

like 30 seconds haha i just wear tinted moisturizer to school
but on weekends…i take like 30 min LOL
well 15-30
eyeliner, mascara, foundation, powder, lipstick (+ blush, brows and any extra pretty eye things like coloured/glitter eyeliner if i feel like it :])

Honeys Avatar

hi Christine,
average bout 20-30mins..
but that only if i use compact foundation n i play with colors on my eyes..
a quick simple one would be 10mins and the longest time bout an hour, complete with liquid foundation, concealer n all =)

p/s – may i know if MAC Freckletone & Shy Girl lipstick are permanent colors? thanks!

Honeys Avatar

oh, thanks Ally_D =)

i don’t have Shy Girl but i love the color =)
so i’m on the look out if anyone sell if they have extras, lol!

Erica Avatar

Holy Cow! 5-15 min?! I guess because i’m still learning what colors go together takes me forever in the morning. Not to mention the blending technique. I will say about 35 min. give or take as the moisturizer sits for ten minutes before i start. Any helpful sites you can refer me to for color combinations?

Marta Fernandes Avatar

About 10 minutes if all I do is apply tinted moisturizer, lipstick and fill in my eyebrows. 30-45min if I go for the full face.

Emily Avatar

Generally I try to give myself 20 min. to put on make-up. Sometimes less, sometimes more, depending on the day and how I’m feelin’.

Cynthia Avatar

on a good day during the week,10-15 minutes…when i’m going all out, 20. i’m still getting the hang of utilizing all the tips and tricks i learned on YouTube! 😉

Sally Avatar

Same as you, Christine. 5-15 minutes. Sometimes, if I’m preparing for a big event I will take longer, but that is usually due to being distracted by other things or wanting to be super precise.

Meri Avatar

30 minutes or longer
for my daily makeup basis I use these :
moisturizer
primer
foundation
bronzer for contouring
loose powder
blusher
eyeliner
mascara
lipstick

Rica Avatar

If I’m on the mood, it’s 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. But if I’m in a hurry, it’s 30 mins to 1 hour.. And take note, it’s a full make up! LOL!

Kell Avatar

About 30 mins. Not longer unless it’s special occasion makeup (when I’d wear eyeshadow, maybe lashes). I spend a lot of time on my skin. That 30 mins is skin skin skin (makeup).

Rissy Avatar

Today I did my makeup in 15-20 min… with a couple distractions. I can take up to 30-40 depending if I know what look I want to do or not… and distractions… 😛

Mirna Avatar

Anywhere between 10-25 minutes. If I rush then I look rushed, my makeup will look abit out of place. In 25 minutes I can do a very good face. My eyebrows will actually look even! j/k lol

Kim Avatar

Probably around 20-30, mostly because I get distracted online or watching tv. Plus I’m not much of a morning person, so everything just takes me longer.

Ashley Avatar

I’m a perfectionist with my makeup, so for an average day it will take usually.. 20-45 minutes, depending on how many shades I’m using and how detailed I want the look to be. I can sometimes cut that down to about 10-15 minutes if it’s a look I am very familiar with.

ambersmile Avatar

Somewhere between a half an hour to an hour. It depends on if I’m trying something new or not. My hair is a half an hour. I usually just flat iron it.

Leenie Avatar

It usually takes me about 30 to 35 mins. every thing on my face has to be perfect so I take my time, and I give myself enough time to get ready in the morning.

Allison Avatar

Honestly I love putting on makeup, so it usually takes 15 to 20 minutes if I’m in a bit of a hurry but still want to look really good. If I’m really taking my time, it can take 30 to 40 minutes, but I try not to do that too often.
If I’m just rushing to class but don’t want to look dead, I can be ready in 5 minutes. Don’t do that too often either though. =)

Becca Avatar

it usually takes me an hour to get ready total…probably around 30-45 spent on makeup. I can do it much quicker, like 10-15, but I prefer taking the time to look polished and to play with my goodies 🙂

Sharon Avatar

5 – 10 minutes for work, more if I’m doing something special (or have more time, LOL… mornings are definitely not my time of day!)

Huong Avatar

For everyday like 15-20 mins to do skin care (clean face, toner, moisturizer, eye cream, sunscreen) and then another 15-20 mins to do my makeup including primer, mineral foundation or tinted moisturizer, eyeliner and sometimes lipstick. Thank goodness I wear semi-permanent false eyelashes so I dont have to apply mascara anymore!

If I’m gonna go to an event and do a full face it’d take me about 40 mins or 1 hour.

Makeup always makes me late but I still love it though 😀

Anitacska Avatar

On weedays it’s about 10-15 minutes because I don’t have more time, at weekends it might be up to 20-25 if I have the time. I’m pretty quick at doing it now, can do a fairly complicated eye make up (3-4 colours) in 5 minutes or so. 🙂

Laura Avatar

Since I do a full face anytime I put on any makeup — I’d say 30-40 minutes. But 1) I’m pretty OCD with my application and 2) the faster you make me go the more I just screw up. Ha!

Since I’m in my mid-30s now, a full face is just sort of required for me. Which includes:

Concealer
Studio Fix Powder Foundation
Blush/bronzer
Eye Primer (Paint/Paint pot/Shadow Insurance)
Eye Shadows (Multiple)
Eye Liner
Eye brows
Heated Eye-lash curling (I don’t typically wear mascara)
Lip Liner
Lipstick/LipGloss

I’m glad I’m not alone in how long it takes me! When I was younger and wore/needed less foundation (well and less makeup in general) it certainly took waaay less time! 🙂

Leah Avatar

I generally wear a full face so about 30 min. I like to take my time especially with gel liner. If I’m in a hurry I can run out the door in about 15 min though 🙂

Lucy Avatar

it goes like this : SPF moisturizer, primer, foundation, concealer, setting powder, curl lashes, eyelash primer, mascara, liquid eyeliner, contour/blush, and probably a lipbalm on the lips. = about 20 minutes?

Annie Avatar

It really depends.. I can put my make-up on in 5-15 minutes when I need to get ready, other times (when I’m just playing around) it could take me an hour.
