How important is finishing a lip color to you?

It’s rare that I care, but I don’t use makeup like a normal consumer, so it’s not really like I have the ability to do so. I’ll say that for something like a lip balm, I try to use it up. I don’t like to have a ton open and in various states of semi-used!

Its not. I don’t wear a color every day and quite honestly using a lipstick to the point where its completely flat is satisfying enough for me! That said, I do deliberately keep my collection of lip items rather small to try and avoid waste since they go bad the fastest after mascara.

finish a lipstick?
hahahaha

hahahhahha
(wipes tears of laughter away)

But seriously, even though I wear lipstick almost every day (and have favorites that get worn often!) I’ve never even come close to finishing one up. I don’t know how other people do it, unless they own just one or two lipsticks at a time and reapply them constantly (which seems like a really wise and awesome approach!)

I tend to cycle through up to a half dozen at a time or so. Emphasis ‘or so’. I have used up some limited edition ones and some GWP ones. If I paid $50 for a nice lipstick, I am not going to let it go bad, I have also had some break or melt, so those are gone. Some I forget about and those get tossed too.

To be perfectly honest, I only have a handful that I feel I must finish because they’re favorites, and I do have at least one backup for them. Others I use as I feel the mood for a specific shade and finish. Or because it goes with my outfit for that day. I own over 200 lipsticks, so I seriously doubt I’ll get to use many of them up before they turn rancid. I do feel rather guilty over this fact.

I only have 7 or 8 lipsticks right now that i love and hope i can finish. I will not be buying any new ones until i don’t have to wear a mask.

In this day and age, the only lip product I’m using up is lip balm.?

But usually I do like to finish my everyday lipsticks within a year of opening. For colors I don’t wear regularly, I just focus on getting regular use. There’s no reason to own a lipstick color I wear once a month or less often.

Off topic but what lipstick is the icon for this convo?? The one with a spider imprint and a tube with skull and cauldron?

I like finishing lipsticks, it’s a sense of satisfaction. Also regret if they’re discontinued, which has happened repeatedly!

It’s always a sad day for me when I finish a lipstick that I really love and it is now difficult to purchase, because sometimes you just cannot get the same shade and finish again. I usually do finish up my lipsticks because when I love a shade, I wear it a lot. I try to finish a couple before I open any more so that they are not wasted. So yes, finishing a lipstick is important to me.
