I definitely feel more comfortable bringing out really bold, deep lip colors — berries, burgundies, purples, and the like!

It doesn’t, aside from the fact I wear more of it, and more often, as the weather is more bearable. My overall color palette stays the same, and it’s actually perfect for Fall & Winter. I don’t let seasons dictate what colors I wear. If I feel it suits *me*, I’ll wear it. I do tend to wear lipstick more often, though, as it seems to last longer when it’s cooler outside.

I’ll wear darker lip colors – darker reds and berries and maybe plums although I’m not sure I own any plums! (Must fix that.) And I’m still looking for a good every day fall blush – Burberry Peony was fantastic for spring and summer, but I want somethign a little deeper for fall. Maybe NARS Dolce Vita or Douceur?

About NW15, I think, I haven’t been officially matched to MAC. But I’m usually the palest shade in any foundation range, and I’m cool-toned. Dark hair/eyes.

I would use a light hand with both of those on your skin as both come off fairly dark on me NC20-25ish, I think. If you are looking at Nars, how about Madly? or Illamasqua Ambition or Naked Rose. Both have muted qualities that make them pretty for fall looks, but will not overpower your light complexion. If you like Chanel joues contraste, how about Tempting Beige. Just some more ideas to toss around 🙂

I was thinking about Naked Rose when Christine reviewed it, so maybe I will pick that up 🙂 I do like Chanel JC, though. And of course Burberry – I want to know if they’re going to release a winter blush! Cameo might be good for fall, too, or Russet.

If you’re cool toned, NC15 might be a better guess for you (I have similar coloring and I have tried NW foundations and they didn’t look quite right), just a thought :).

Have your looked at NARS Amour? It’s lighter/slightly pinker than Dolce Vita. You can build it up to be pretty intense or keep it very natural, it’s super versatile on light skin. I originally thought I might like Dolce Vita but it was too overpowering for my skin tone, a very light hand was needed! I found that Douceur looked kind of off on me, but I think it could definitely look nice on light skin. It seems like maybe a warm/cool thing since it’s kind of a brown/tan blush. I think a nice neutral/dusty pink would be good for fall, and with NC15 coloring you have a lot of options 🙂

WWendalynne, Madly would look nice on NC/NW15! Very subtle for fall 🙂

NC is MAC’s definition for warm tones, and NW is their cool toned line. Maybe you’re more neutral than cool? I can’t wear NC at all.

I haven’t looked at Amour, but I will the next time I get a chance – I *really* wanted Sin the last time I went to Sephora and they didn’t have it in stock 🙁 I think I own either Dolce Vita or Douceur, I can’t remember which, so I want to play with it. Madly is an idea, though!

Jay Avatar

I might have gotten that mixed up! If you’re NW you could probably pull of the Dolce Vita/Douceur better. Sin is so pretty! Maybe you could layer that with one of the darker matte shades you already have? I bet that would look nice!

Natural colors on eyes, lighter colors on cheeks and mauve, berry tones on lips.
In summer i like bright peach, coral colors on lips and the balm frat boy or mac peaches on cheeks. Mac peaches is wearable in autumn but now i got the feeling i need new blushes which are lighter pink with a hint of plum or brown. The eyeshadows fit to my clothes, but now they are less colorful more brown and taupe and a small line in crease with the color of my shirt.

Since I really do not suit pale or pastel shades, my makeup does not change as much as some perhaps. I do pull out my big pile of ‘almost blacks’ which consist of deep deep plums, browns, blues, teals, etc.. and also darker lippies. This year, however, I think I will be wearing more traditional spring/summer based brights into the fall and winter only paired with a more dramatic eye.

Overall, I wear whatever I want to wear regardless of season. While I do not deliberately try to match my makeup to my clothes, I do try to pair the ‘weight’ of my makeup to the weight of my clothing.

My aqua and teal eyeshadows come out less and less, and the darker browns, greens and purples make an appearance. My lips go from glossy nudes and bright pinks/oranges and reds, to darker more muted colors. And I switch my tinted moisturizer for a medium coverage foundation.

Definitely bolder lip colors. I went for plum the first time in a year today. I used Tokyo Milk Lip Elixir, Urban Decay Lip Envy in Greedy, Mac Cyber lipstick, and Dior Ultra Gloss in Flash. As if you couldn’t tell I hate touching up my lip color throughout the day so all those layers should last me for a while.

Like most people I wear dark lip colors (wine, plums, red, berry tones). I also wear Mac Cranberry and Plum Dressing eye shadows; I don’t think I ever wear them in S/S. I stop wearing my bright shadows like lime green, etc. Same goes with nail polish & I put away those neons.

I wear my beloved deep lip colours on a regular basis! I also find that I tend to use more neutral, contouring shades on my cheeks more, as opposed to the softer rose shades of Spring/ Summer.

I wear pinks and pinky nudes everyday but when fall/winter rolls around I get crazy with RED lips!! I have 5 red lipsticks and glosses and love all of them! I used to be SO afraid of red and didnt get comfortable wearing this color until this year (I just turned 24)

I can wear more makeup in general! Darker, smokier eyeshadow + colour!
I’ve always worn bold lips in the summer but now I can wear the darker bold colours in full force rather than a stain! (MAC Rebel & Dubonnet!)

Dominique Avatar

I like bold red colours whatever the season. But during winter I also wear plum, burgundy, black or rosy colours. deep blue is another option, grey too. I like nude shades too esp. on the eyelids but also on the lips.

Laura Avatar

I totally agree Christine! In the last couple of weeks (since the weather got colder) I’ve worn MAC lipsticks in Diva, Riveting Rose, Hipster, So Scarlet, Rebel, and a few other dark/bold colours that I rarely wear in spring or summer.

I’ve also been wearing more smokey eye makeup – not necessarily dark, just sultry and ultra-blended, darker around the lash line. I’m also mattifying my face more, using foundation and powder rather than just tinted moisturiser/BB cream.

As for nails, I’m staying away from bright colours and using some of the lovely dark greens, wine/plum tones, neutrals and blacks that I have. I bloody love autumn makeup all-round to be honest!

I don’t really change my makeup too much, although I’ve been looking into more plummy colors as of recent. I do change my primer though, as I have to worry about my face drying out more so I go for a more hydrating primer than usual.

I definitely use deeper and darker nail polish and lipstick shades. I especially love bringing out deep purple polishes like OPI’s ‘Vampsterdam’ or ‘Lincoln Park After Dark’. On the lips I can’t go past Tom Ford’s ‘Black Orchid.’

My foundation goes from the second lightest shade the company makes to the lightest!! Then I get back to my beloved autumn shades, and I mean the ones that look best on “Autumn” skintypes as per the color me beautiful schemata. The browns and rusts that don’t go with summer clothes or styles now are in fashion again, and they are the shades that look best on me. I struggle to find a nail polish to wear all summer while everyone else is wearing a French mani or white shades, but now I can go for my browns, when Ican find them. The last few years have been slim pickings since Chanel’s Particulaire turned brown to gray, across the price spectrum. But thanks to your warnings, I knew about Chanel’s Fashion night out nail/lip editions, and on faith, ordered the beige nail polish. It is the first Chanel nail polish I’ve ever owned, but it won’t be the last. My manicurist said it was an “old lady” shade, but she has black hair and white skin, she wouldn’t wear this shade, but on me, AMAZING! It goes with all my fall clothes and makeup, I’m finding reasons to wear peep toes because my toes look so well in it. I’m loving fall colors! Hopefully, this return to grace of brown colors will lead me to a lipstick and blush to love as well!

First change is definitely switching from bb cream/tinted moisturizers to foundations. The color doesn’t change immediately I usually lose my tan around november(ish) but the color goes lighter eventually! Also I start to use less bright blushes. Eyeshadows become bolder in color and shading and I leave waterproof mascaras and go back to regular ones!

Shea Avatar

I usually go from brighter colors to deeper neutrals and I love playing around with dark nail polish. I have red hair and pink undertones to my skin so I also have a lot more fun with gold shadow and liner.
