How do you use glitter eyeshadows in your looks?
How do you use glitter eyeshadows in your looks? How do you incorporate them? Do you avoid them?
I like to apply them over a tacky base, either a cream eyeshadow or something mixed with MAC’s Mixing Medium. Then, pat rather than sweep it onto your lid!

I like to mix them w/ Too Faced Shadow Insurance, or a clear eyeliner product by Urban Decay. I like Make Up Forever Eye Seal. Great stuff!!! I had some awesome glitter going w/ Eye Seal, at a concert!!! I also use Liquif Eye from Too Faced.
I almost never wear glitter…which I am proud of since most of my grade went through a HUGE glitter eyeliner faze. Lets just say, they don’t wait til it dries before they blink. Circles of glittahhh.
I pat them on top of Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy 😀 It really helps with glittery eyeshadows!
Pixie Epoxy ishould be in everyone’s stash. It’s not just for glitter shadows per se, but for any shadow where you think you might have some glittery fall out. The tiniest bit of PE will really hold the pigment and glitter in place. It’s also very reasonably priced.
Where can you buy this??
From Fyrinnae. They are an indie cosmetics company. http://www.fyrinnae.com/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=412
Yes, yes, YES! I love Pixie Epoy. Anyone who wears eye shadows with glitter or shimmer in them should have it. It makes eye makeup look more vibrant than even applying them foiled.
I don’t use glittery shadows. Shimmery shadows yeah, but you know those nice, satiny slightly shimmery shadows that lend themselves to the skin on the eyelid.
Also, if they are by Urban Decay, I apply them wet and blend them wet. Urban Decay Rocks!!
I love any kind of glitter. 🙂 I try to add it into my look in many diffrent ways weather its on my lips, eyes, or cheeks. 🙂 I usually like to apply it ontop on a sticky base as well. It helps it last longer.
I don’t try anymore. I had a pretty traumatic experience with MAC glitter pigments…I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to use them on your eye (no warning in the Tartan Tale box! and I was new to it).
So how do you use them anyway? 🙁
There’s a new product from TooFace. It’s a glitter glue for glitters or pigments. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m going to buy it and give it a try 🙂
I want the Too Faced Gliter Shadow Insurance. Waiting til I get in a Sephora store, to see it.
On top of Too Faced Glitter Glue! A gift from god. Hahah. That base is so damn tacky it’s unbelievable! Love it for glitter.
I use the original clear sticky base of awesome, Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy 😀
Where do you buy Pixie Epoxy? I’ve never heard of it. I live in Toronto, Ontario. DOes anyone know where I can buy this in Toronto???? THX!!
I think they are only on the web. Fyrinnae.com
Usually just on my lid but occasionally all over 😀
I used glitter glue or NYX jumbo pencils Mixing medium doesnt work for me.
sometimes i just swipe a bit of the MAC glitters over a regular shadow for a shimmered look. if i want crazy glitter i use the urban decay heavy metal glitter liners. amazing!
I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance or UDPP then some pixie epoxy and then wait a few seconds for the pixie epoxy to dry before applying the glitter.
I avoid them entirely. I’m just too old!
With Pixie Epoxy, I can actually manage to wear Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, haha.
Sometimes I layer from my glitter palette over the top of regular eyeshadow. (Love Pixie Epoxy for that, too.) Because I don’t have a huge variety of glittery shadow shades.
I also tend to go a bit more crazy with my eye makeup since I generally just wear foundation and eye makeup, no blush or lip stuff.
Nope, no glitter. At my age, well lets just say NOT!
I don’t wear glitter eye shadows It’s too messy, I prefer to wear satins or mattes anything without glitter
I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance or UD primer potion on top of my eyeshadow and it holds the glitter pretty well!! My favorite one is MAC reflects antique gold and it goes well with the neutrals (sable, era, patina, satin taupe, mauvement)
I use them with a bit of eye drops, yup, eye drops!! Trust me it works. MAC mixing Medium works with a thin brush if I want to make a liner out of the glitter. I also have a special glitter brush that sephora came out with its like a silicone I think. I really want to try that Too Faced stuff thats come out.
I usually put on a Mac paintpot for a base, then apply Fyrinae’s Pixie Epoxy, let sit for about 30 seconds tops, then pack on some glitter. Makes for a mega-sparkle effect. And as long as you don’t rub your eyes, it’ll stay out without much fallout for most of the day. PE is an amazing product for glitters.
