How do you organize your complexion/base products?
I have my most-used foundations usually on top of my vanity, since they’re in use, and I’m not the type of person to put everything away if I’m using it daily, LOL. I have other foundations that I like using in my vanity drawer, so I usually have 3-4 formulas I rotate through that are in easy access. The rest are stored in pull-out plastic bins in a closet.
I have organizers for all of my other makeup, but since I only use one foundation it just sits on my desk that also serves as a vanity.
The only foundation that i am using now is MAC Studio Fix and Powder so it is always in my vanity drawer.
Honestly, I have no organization system for my foundations! I should probably develop one but since I need to declutter a lot of them and have recently purchased quite a few cushion foundations, like maybe 10 or so. I am slowly testing them to determine which ones I like enough to continue using. It takes me a while to determine which foundations I like since I have to play with sunscreens, primers, concealer, etcetera. My taste in foundations has also changed since I use to wear makeup all the time. I loved my Chosungah 22 foundation and never could find one I liked as well when it was discontinued. Since starting to wear makeup again, I have discovered that I prefer a dewier foundation. I think I thought I should want matte since my skin is older and showing signs of age. All of the older beauty influencers I watched were all going for matte foundations. Since returning to makeup, a number of them have gone to dewier and I realized that that was what I like about the Chosungah. So, I have purchased the cushions in more dewy formula’s. Once I decide what I like, I will try and whittle my collection down and then I won’t have to worry about an organization system. Right now, they are all in a decorative hatbox that sits next to my vanity.
All directly in front of me on my makeup center (my low dresser top, lol) where I can get to them readily. Oddly, one shade of MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation went MIA: NW35. Which is okay since THAT is the outlier that oxidizes on me terribly. So, for the 2 days that I made it to the Convention in Casa Grande, I got a much better looking match using equal portions of NW30 and NC41 with some Strobe Cream to take down any thickness or cakey-ness.
Like Seraphine above, I generally only use one foundation at a time – my all time favourite L’Oreal’s True Match and it sits on my side of the ensuite bathroom bench. I do have some of my Clarin’s Everlasting foundation and Fenty’s foundation (as my ‘best” living in my ensuite bathroom cupboard.
I also only use one blush and setting powder at a time too and they live on the bathroom bench as well.
The ones I use regularly during a given period (because based on my skin color by season or condition I change them up) are in a multifunction acrylic tray atop my wooden corner stand near my bathroom sink. The rest (the backup ones or ones I may layer over certain areas of another one are in the second drawer of the same stand. And then I have ones for use on other people or colors that didn’t work, but “you never know” (so I haven’t gotten rid of them (yet) that are in large travel vanity bags in a shelf in my bedroom and my MUHE HD are in a drawer in a tall metal makeup pro kit.
