I look at my clothes, sometimes eye shadow palettes.I don’t have too many singles laying around. And then lips and cheeks to coordinate w/ it. I stick w/ the mascara, for about a month and a half, than pitch it.Mascara used daily for me, is only good for that long.I like to experiment with new colors, or go with 2 for day. Usually more than 2 for night time, as far as eye shadows. Usually 2 lip products, as well. A liner and gloss, or lipstick and liner, or lipstick and gloss, depending on my mood. I like glitter for night, on my eyes; if we are going to a party, and glitter in my hair, for special occasions, vacations, etc. I like body glitter too, mostly for summer. It’s fun!! And bronzer for the body, in the summertime. Bronzer for the face, year round.
I decide the main color I want to feature – either an eyeshadow or a lipcolor – and then figure out which colors go well with it.
I do a regular rotation of my palettes in my head if I am doing a neutral look.
If I wanna do a bright look, then it will usually be straight to my MAC palettes or Star Makeup Haven Palette.
If I am home, then I will choose something random I haven’t used for a while, to match my mood.
It is always blush and lips to match my eye look.
It really depends on the day. Some days, there’s a product that I’m just dying to use (especially if I’ve just bought something new!). Other days, I look at my outfit and try to match to that. And sometimes, whatever I grab out of my makeup bags first is what I wear lol.
I get hooked on a blush and I stick with it. So I match eye shadow with it or I just use my newest! :p currently I am really into aquadisiac and pink cult!
I have a box of about 30-40 products on my sink counter. It holds my essentials, a few eye and face colors but mostly lipcolors. I use the pretty much the same products during the week with the exception of changing up my lips. The eyes stay with a matte or shimmer in a neutral color.
On the weekends, if I feel like putting on a “face”, I go through my boxes in my sink cabinet and find an eye color that interests me. Then I find the colors that would compliment it.

I thought i was the only one that did that.
Usually new products I have bought and need to try! lol
I almost always do lipstick/gloss last if it’s just a normal liner-mascara day, but if I want to showcase a particular lip color, I will put it on first so I can better moderate what’s going on the eyes.
I always generally wear the same neutral palette but I have so many neutrals that I try to rotate and use things I haven’t used as recently as others. Or I will pick one eyeshadow I really want to use that day whether it be a crease or lid color and then plan around that. My foundation/concealer is generally the same every day.
I lay out my makeup before I take a shower and choose colors that either go with what I am wearing or projects the mood the I am in; however, I do make a point of rotating the makeup I use so all my MU can be loved/used on a regular basis.
I pick from the same color family as the clothes I’m wearing, and then I consider how formal I need to look for wherever I’m going.
Ah I’m horrible with coming up with looks so even with only having around 12 eyeshadows i get really overwhelmed. I’m thinking about turning my shopping more on clothes since my boyfriend claims he can’t tell if I’m wearing makeup or not. I usually experiment on the weekends cus I don’t have time in the morning to do a look and if it turns out bad start over. so I basically do the same look throughtout the week and on weekends I use samples of things I’ve gotten and try to use up stuff I don’t care for.
I’m awful about it spend ages picking what to wear and then always end up hunting down something different in the middle and adjusting it all anyway
I always have some sort of inspiration if I’m doing a full look. It can be anything from an ad I saw to a fruit. And of course, it has to compliment my outfit.
it usually depends on what color i want on my lips that day. if i’m feeling in a red, vampy lip look then the eyes are going to be more natural. if i’m going for a nude lip then anything can happen on the eyes!
I love eyeshadows, and I have way too many. What I do now is pick one or two brands for every week, and keep just those in the bathroom. Then, I co-ordinate (not necessarily match) my eyeshadow to whatever I’m wearing no narrow it down further. Then I add complementary liner, blush and lips. For foundation, whatever I feel like (I have a few different ones in the bathroom all the time). Ever since I started my weekly rotations of eye shadows, it really makes it so much easier to decide on something in the morning, and now I actually use all of my stash. Before, I used to forget or neglect anything that wasn’t in my bathroom. Now I switch it up every week, I love it.
My clothes are my main inspiration haha
The weather, seasons, and the time of day direct me to wear what is best.
The occasion 🙂
For me it’s all about the eyes. So on Sunday I pick out a “palette of the week”, it’s either a pre-made palette or a quad put together with depotted eyeshadows. I mix-n-match brands, finishes etc. and choose the eyeshadows for their color compatibility. Then I choose a few lip sticks and glosses for the week and one or two blushes to compliment it. And this is the selection of products I use for the week.
I only stray away from it for presentations, exams, performance days. Any day where I want to look professional, then it’s a selection of neutrals on eyes, lips, cheeks and nails.
My skin care reads are pretty much regularly the same AM/PM, day in and out. My make-up often is doubled up with my day skin care from my tinted spf moisturizer being my only ‘foundation’ needed. I HAVE to have eyebrows as I am very blond & post chemo that never really grew back in my eyelashes and brows much. Now that I have a mascara that does not make my lashes fall out – I will use mascara (TARTE Lights, Camera, Lashes). I can go just with an eye shadow base alone or 1 maybe 2 shadow shades. A pop of something on my cheeks and I am done. I usually use a tinted balm vs lipstick for daily use and at home use My toes are always polished (a fetish of mine) & well groomed fingernails (usually only buffed shiny as they stay in best condition if I only use oils and no polish on them). My guide on how much, what shades is usually dictated by both time and where I am going. My makeup colors rarely change so much that I have issues with not looking like me in whatever clothing I put on. However, that said, most of my clothing is along a definite color pallet that I look good in and mixes/matches well. I have gobs of all kinds of eye colors and can make any of them muted or played up, smokey or soft. I am of late, big on one eye shadow shade only. Yellow corrective powder really helps if I have spent too much time playing in front of the mirror doing makeup and need to tone it down – rare but it does happen.
