We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

There are so many factors and almost all of them are random: the weather, how much time I have, what I’m really enjoying at the moment, taking out a shadow or eyeshadow palette I’ve not used in a while – any and all of those things can factor into my decision but most of the time, I’ll be honest – it tends to be “same old, same old” in terms of the finished look. I don’t go for rainbow eyes or neon bright or colours that just look “strange” to me, so mostly it’s neutrals with perhaps a hit of something bright in a small area.
Wow….ok, let’s see lol. I factor in day or evening, colors in my outfit, time of the year, occasion, or just basically what mood I’m in. I love wearing a deep smokey eyeshadow, sometimes with a little sparkle for evening, maybe with a splash of jewel tones like deep blue, green, or burgundy, along with plum or red blush and a deep shade of lipstick, most of the time a very dark red with a little pop, like subtle sparkle. For daytime or more casual occasions, I keep it simple with dark gray or dark brown eyeshadows and I keep the intensity down, paired with pink or coral blush and lipstick.
Several factors:
1.) What am I wearing?
2.) Special occasion or just running errands?
3.) My mood and energy level plays a significant part!
Most times I simply try to use in order the eyeshadows from my custom made palette. 😅 It forces my creativity to create a look that will match my outfit for the day.
It depends on what I’m doing that day, what I’m wearing, and my mood. If I have a new palette, I’ll usually want to play with that.
This. All of the above.
I’d say mood first, but then the clothes also reflect my mood, so there’s that.
My clothes reflect my mood, too. I totally get that.
I rotate through all my palettes so it will always be neutrals with a pop of color, even if my “palette of the week“ is very colorful or dynamic. I’ll pick one color to wear and pair it with my workhorse neutral palette that I have at the ready. Typically the color I pick will complement my outfit in some way.
Lately my eye looks are just a wash of color with a little tightlining close to the lashes, and then my cheeks and lips will be where the color is.
Like most of us here, the factors include: the season and therefore what I am wearing (in terms of colours), where I am going and what I am doing. Sometimes I choose to go with an eye palette that I haven’t used in awhile or at other times I will be using an eye palette for the week and choose different shades within that palette for my eye look.
Like Mariella, I don’t go for neons, pastels, overly bright or multchrome shades – mainly neutrals with a pop of colour.
I match it to my outfit, always! How fancy depends on the amount of time I have, but color-wise, it matches.
It depends on what I’m wearing, where I’m going, and how I feel like presenting myself.
The decision is based on the mood of the day and how much time I have, the season, the occasion, and once these are factored in, I most of the time go for a fairly recent addition to my collection. In the rare occasion that I have a lot of time and I’m not too concerned of ending up with a somewhat surprising outcome, I will pull out a palette I don’t use often and will play with it – but this is not often.
