How do you decide on your manicure and pedicure?

How do you decide on your manicure and pedicure? Do they match? However you’re feeling?

I tend to be pretty picky about the colors I use on my toes… it really seems to depend on the occasion or the season. I usually wear China Glaze For Audrey during the summer! For the rest of the year, it’s usually dependent on the event!

For the most part, I keep my nail polish in a weekly to biweekly rotation. However, if I have an interview or special event coming back where I have to look put-together, I reach for Essie’s Topless and Barefoot, great sophisticated nude. As for toes, I tend to like pastels and light color, but have been experimenting with dark colors lately and find that I like the contrast with my skin-tone.

I can’t find Topless and Barefoot anywhere in stores! 🙁 I love that one for my toes, or fingers when I need something neutral and subdued.

I usually go with whatever I’m feeling. If I’m excited for a new season or a holiday then I will do them/get them done with something that goes with whatever season/holiday I’m excited for at the moment. For instance, my toenails are painted with CG Flip Flop Fantasy (bright, neon coral-pink) because at the time the weather was just starting to get warmer and I was excited for spring/summer. Or if I get a new nail polish then I typically go for a new one. Right now, my nail polish for my fingers if Kendall on the Katwalk, which was something I picked up last night, which is how it got chosen. So, fingers and toes totally don’t match. I don’t need my polish to match, but it kind of bugs me when it’s two totally different types of colors, lol. Typically, I prefer french or nude colors on my toes, or something light because then I feel it clashes less with whatever is on my fingers.

I’m the opposite-I prefer french tips or nudes (or clear) on my fingers, but I like something bright or dark on my toes, unless there is a special occasion, then I like to completely match, especially if my toes are showing.

I lean toward a neutral nail, as I feel I can be more flexible in my clothes & makeup. Also, it’s easier & quicker to change the polish if necessary if the color is paler, and touch-ups are needed less frequently.

I just kinds go for whatever I’m feeling like. 🙂 Sometimes I’ll go TOTALLY out of season (like right now when it’s spring and I’m wearing a black with purple glitter), it really just depends on what catches my eye. My pedi never matches my mani and I normally go with bright creamy colors or nudes.

my pedicures last two weeks so i usually make sure that it’s neutral enough for whatever polish i used on my weekly manicures. lately tho i tend to favor dark grays on my toes – read somewhere that using dark tones on your feet elongates you or something haha!

as for the polish on my fingernails, i go with my mood! or my newest untried polish.

For my fingers, it depends on how much I’m working during the next few days (I usually do them twice a week). Since I’m a bagger, my nails chip really quickly no matter what, so I tend to go for a light, shimmery color that won’t show as much. Otherwise I love dark green, silver on 9 nails with gold on one, black…anything that’ll match most outfits. My toes are always some bright crazy color that I never feel like wearing on my fingers.

I don’t like bright colors on my hands but I love wearing them on my toes! 🙂 I usually wear clean/pink/nude nail colors on my hands. I do my toes only in the summer, when I can actually show them. I only match them for special occasions when I need to look perfect 🙂

always something in the red family for my toes…usually just red but sometimes i paint them hot pink.i don’t take too much time on my toes. if i have more time i’ll do it properly with a top coat and everything to make them last longer but usually i just slap it on so that if i take off my shoes my feet look cute.

then whatever i feel like for my fingers. right now i’m wearing midnight cami by essie.

I tend to stick with neutrals for a manicure. Current favs includes Essie’s Sugar Daddy and Ballet Slippers and OPI’s Samoan Sand. For toes, anything goes, especially bright colors!

I usually just flip through the collection and see what has been out of rotation. Yesterday I convinced my husband to paint my toes for me. He used Zoya in Envy. It is a dark forest green that looks almost black from a distance. I liked it so much on my toes that I did my hands to match but I took my Martha Stewart colored foil collection and sprinkled it over my nails while wet and then added Seche Vite as a top coat. It looks so cool!

I’ve only been painting my nails recently, since I found a base/topcoat that makes my nail polish last for a week or longer. I’m amazingly lazy when it comes to nails and the more time I can go without thinking about them, the better. I usually choose colors in the warm pink range; most of the time they’re colors I could wear on my lips, so that it doesn’t clash with whatever clothes/makeup I decide to wear.

My hands always match my toes. I had the impression everyone did this…it just looks sloppy when they don’t!

Manicure : always nude and soft colours ( Rose caché from Chanel, Ballerina Pink from Estée Lauder or a simple basecoat ). Sometimes I try pastel ( blue, grey, rose ) but I take it off shortly after.
Pedicure : always bright colours, red, rose or blue or others. ( Jungle red, rouge andalou, dovima, schiap from Nars for example ).

I choose colors for my mani or pedi based on season, mood, and maybe what I plan on wearing throughout the week. I do tend to go for softer shades on my fingers because of my work, but since I don’t wear opened toe shoes too often, I can wear anything I want on my toes.

CeeBee Avatar

On my toes I tend to go lighter or brighter, fingers go deeper or darker, unless I have a neutral/nude/sheer pink/French/whatever on them.

I prefer vibrant pedicures and more sedate (light or dark) manicures – though I still love to rock a bright red every now and then!

I can’t remember the last time I had the same colour on both at the same time. For me, there are definite toe colours and definite finger colours, there’s not too much overlap.

Alison Avatar

I love specific colours for nails! Deep, rich colours: burgundies, eggplants, dark mahogany-purple and deep dark burnt red types of colours, and glowy sheers.

Liz Avatar

For my pedi I always do reds, pinks, corals, or light purple. I just dont like how other colors look on my toes.

For my mani I do something light nuetral during the work week and then something bright and fun on the weekends.

I go for FUN! My hands are both severely disabled after an injury required both wrists/hands to be reconstructed so I cannot wear anything on my fingers…including jewelry (both rings and bracelets, sadness) so toenails are my form of expression! I am lucky enough to have a nursing aid one day a week who understands that playful toenail polish is a mood elevator and she polishes them for me once a month…I know it is too long to go and the polish is mostly worn off by then (yes, tacky) but it is better than nothing and I’m too broke to go to salon. I go by mood, or what I want my mood to be…could care less about trends, seasonal appropriate or any of that. I just want it to make ME smile when I look at my feet. Color is so mood elevating and joyous! This is a huge treat for me and makes me so happy. Sorry to ramble.
