They’re each like a little compact of fine art, but I don’t think I’d want to use an eyeshadow palette where the colors are all mashed together like that… They call it “effortless blending”, but I think that’s just a prettier way of acknowledging that it’s just going to be a muddy mess after the first couple uses…

Michelle Avatar

OMGOOODDDDD!!!!!!!!!! I want to keep to a $100 per month budget at Sephora but how am I going to do that with all these Spring pretties launching! These are so gorgeous. So different, not the same old, same old palettes. Works of art.

I love Hourglass, but I like my shadows to be in separate pans. This looks like it could get messy and muddy after a while. And if the shimmer mixes with the mattes, that’s not good. And since the surface of the shadow is wavy and bumpy, I wonder if it’ll affect the application? At least 3 of the 7 palettes look heavy on the brown shadows, but at least they have a warm neutral and a cool neutral palette. Since I have enough brown shadows to last me 10 years, I’m mostly interested in the plum and greens, will be interesting to see how they swatch!

Shelley Avatar

My daughter has the palette that was a Barneys exclusive in her kit….she has used it on numerous clients and it has yet to become muddy and the waves have no effect on application. Each shade within the pan is uniform in color.

Grace Avatar

OMG…. drool! It looks so nice! But since its all together as one solid, when you eventually hit pan on a color, will the product starts to crack? My friend’s Urban Decay bronzer / blush compact broke when she hit pan on the blush, and everything just cracked 🙁
But this still looks amazing!!!! Can’t wait to see a review and see it in stores!

Christine Avatar

My inner completionist says get all of them. Graphite and Monochrome really drew my eye. I’m going to need swatch tests and to look at these in person. The patterns are a work of art.

Thank God these are permanent. I can adore them from a distance while I wait for my next Sephora Friends and Family coupon to come in.

Carla Avatar

The grays in the Graphite one just look too blue for me, but I’m not confident that I’m going to be able to talk myself out of the plum one (Exposure).
I keep telling myself that, even if I *don’t* already own the equivalent of every one of those shades as singles, I don’t wear plums every time I wear eyeshadow, so it would be a waste of money.
Really.

What a coincidence that you should post this, Christine. I just saw these palettes on Sephora’s website with a “coming soon” alert at the top. I wondered when their previous eyeshadow duos – I have Dune and nearly got Gypsy, which I know you have – but then suddenly, they were gone – all of the duos, GONE. I figured for sure they’d be launching a whole new line of shadows. I wasn’t expecting anything like this, though, and from what I saw at the Sephora site, even the grey and “cool” palettes seem to have a pretty warm golden shade in them. Not sure if these will excite me enough to hand over $67 CDN for them. I’m glad I’ve got Dune though – it has 2 fabulous shades which seem like they might be replicated in the Infinity (olive) palette. I need to get that duo out and use it a bit more…

Lotus Avatar

Google it, they’ve been around awhile. There are great swatches and examples of how the palettes work which will help all the questions and assumptions. 😀

Jenn Avatar

Omg hourglass is evil for coming out with these right after the holidays! Love color field, exposure and obscura. Can’t wait for the reviews.

Sunny Avatar

OOOOO MAJORLY INTRIGUED! I was able to sit the first one out because I don’t use matte shades all that much, but there are at least three here that I’d love to own!

Sarah Avatar

Today, January 11th for VIB Rouges. I already have the Infinity palette and just bought the Exposure palette today. Now I’m lusting after Graphite and Obscura, though Obscura seems to have very dupable shades.

WARPAINTandUnicorns Avatar

WOW I saw the first palette Atmosphere a few months back in the fall (but it might have been Infinity). There are so many colours here now! I’m hoping there is not issue with the shades because it’s really hard to do baked eyeshadows in different formulas together like this.

Although non of them really screams a mush have shades wise for me and my fairs skin i do like the looks of the Monochrome palette.

Fara Avatar

I would love to lust after these, and in a way I’m super excited, but i just can’t handle the weird merging of the colours like that. If they had made each colour in separate pans in the palette i’d be all over them.

Donna N Avatar

Monochrome and Exposure are so pretty—not really sure though how practical this design is….I foresee a big ole’ mess on my hands around mid-pan.

Alison Avatar

They are totally gorgeous. But way too much brown and mauve for me. I guess my wallet is happy. The graphite one looks like the only one with colors I could wear.

Mariella Avatar

Okay, this is odd – I just looked at Sephora’s site and they have Colour Field listed as the olive collection, Obscura as cool neutrals, etc. I think they’re very mixed up (annoying if you are going to order online and you get the wrong stuff). The one they “say” has a pink shade it in (perhaps Obscura) doesn’t have ANY pink shadow when you click on the pic that is supposed to be that palette. I know they had 2 Bare Minerals quads mixed up (they’d swapped the photos so the photos were wrong). I posted about it in my review of The Designer Label and may have even emailed them about it and they did correct it but, honestly, could you imagine ordering one of these – they’re not cheap – expecting cool neutrals and receiving, instead, the olives or warm earth tones (certainly lovely but not what you’d been led to believe you’d be getting!).

Vicky Avatar

Infinity was released through Barney’s New York back in October as a limited edition. It’s got nice texture, although the colors are not as described above (Olive). Based on the photos, Infinity is the third-from last palette (and probably the best matching description is the one for Color Field). Odd.

Trina Avatar

So much for my new years resolution to spend less money on cosmetics. So much amazing stuff coming out and it’s only January.
Glad these are permanent so i don’t have to rush. I love hourglass products! Color field & exposure are on my definitely list.

Sheena Avatar

Hi Christine! I think you mixed up Infinity and ColorField descriptions! But who cares!! I am just happy these are permanent!!! The hoarder in me will collect these!!!

Rachel R. Avatar

Insanely gorgeous design. Almost too pretty to use. I really like all of the shadow colors in all the palettes, too. Not having separate pans could turn into a huge mess, which I’d hate if I spent this much.

Nicole Avatar

These are gorgeous. I’m not sure on the way it’s not divided though. It may be one of those things that are just not practical.Very interested in reviews. Do you think you will get any of these Christine?

Nancy T Avatar

While these look just exquisitely gorgeous, I do NOT like that the colors are not in separate pans, ad I would hate it once all the shades got muddy and nondescript looking. Beautiful, but with a very impractical design.

Bunga Avatar

Thanks Hourglass for making it permanent. Otherwise Imma need a 2nd job seeing that my spring want list is growing fast. My #1 choice would be Graphite but color selections are like the NARSissist Dual Intensity Palette and Im already set on the NARS. So my next choice is Exposure. Hope they review well. Those plums are gorgeous!

Side note, hmmm kinda disappointed they dont have a Marsala themed one tho. Id love to see some rusty red or burgundy or merlot

Jill Avatar

I love their blush and ambient lighting powder palettes, so, hopefully, this is of the same quality. Picking just one is going to be difficult! Im trying hard to budget since hearing about Chantecaille’s glacier palette coming this spring and Chanel’s upcoming summer collection!

Jillian Avatar

*sigh* of course, right after I’ve decided to go on a “low buy” year… thank goodness these are permanent! Jan 1 2016 can’t come any sooner, I’m building up my order!

Sabrina Avatar

How is it that Hourglass can make ANYTHING look good? Why? WHY? I do not need anymore eyeshadow, yet the olive toned eyeshadow palette looks like the most beautiful thing on earth right now…….argh, there goes my next paycheck.:P

Johanna Avatar

I gasped when I saw these, they are all sooooo pretty and I echo the comment that it looks the most beautiful Neapolitan ice cream!! I initially wanted ALL of them but yet… I just don’t think these will appeal to me once I start working through them. I, like others can see it all turning into a big ol’ mess, but maybe somehow they will maintain their integrity? I don’t know! SOOOO pretty though.

M Avatar

W-O-W. Once again, Hourglass making me lust after their products. I haven’t been excited for a new product in a while, which is good for my wallet but boring. I will definitely have to grab at least a couple of these. Can’t wait for your review!

cara Avatar

Wow these are stunner!! Is it totally weird though that I despise palettes without dividers… sigh… I mean let’s be honest, I’m sure I’ll get one cause they are beautiful and I love HG but reminds me of the physicians formula bar shadows…
