LORAC has this beautiful gloss called Candy Apple. It was from the Sweet Temptations last year. I still use it in my makeup tutorials and plan on using it for a Christmas tutorial next month. It even smells like candy apple! It’s a really nice dark red with some glitter in it, but you cannot, I SWEAR YOU CANNOT, feel the glitter in the gloss! It looks great alone and on a lipstick!

Ditto Ditto Ditto!!! Love that gloss and I could have kicked myself for not picking up another set when they had it on sale a couple months ago for $10! For the whole set.

What a fabulous question! I love Chanel extrait de gloss in Fatale but have too many red lipglosses to count. Nowadays the super pigmented ones blur the lines with lipstick but Fatale is perfect.

I like Meta by obsessive compulsive cosmetics. They have gloss, as well as tars 🙂 its a really unique color and lasts a long time. OCC is known for its longevity. The texture is smooth too.

Beauty For Real has a “lip cream” (basically gloss) in Really Red that’s my definition of the perfect neutral red. AND, the cap has a light in it and the case is mirrored for on-the-go touch ups! (Which is a must for me with lipgloss.)

I have a dior addict gloss that I ADORE but I can’t remember the name right now. I think it’s discontinued. It’s a sheer, sparkly, pinky red. So gorgeous and wearable sheer or more opaque.

This would be more helpful if I had the name, I know.

lipgloss to me equals “not opaque” therefore red lipgloss to me is a contradiction of terms. if you’re gonna wear red lip color, why would you half-ass it.

i know, i know, some people aren’t comfortable with it, but really have you ever, ever met anyone who looks bad in red lip color (maybe the undertone may not match, but another color would).

Since I am super pale (borderline Casper, really) – I always feel like a clown if I wear anything to bright or intense. Bobbi Brown’s Ruby Sugar is the perfect red gloss because it gives a sheer ruby finish with a really beautiful shimmer. Definitely one of my favorites, and it’s like a good set of training wheels to help ease me into a really red lip 🙂

Yes! And now it’s been discontinued, I’ll be so upset when I finish mine. The color is a beautiful sheer red-orange, and the formula is the most moisturizing thing I’ve ever found.

Theodora Avatar

Oh, I came here from FB thinking you were displaying YOUR favorites, but it was still fun to read what other users covet. All of mine, with the exception of MAC’s Russian Red, are discontinued. :\

For a glossy but opaque finish: MAC Wonder Woman
For a sheerer finish: MAC Venetian…. It’s a MLBB juicy red gloss… LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
For a matte finish gloss (so more of a stain then I guess): NARS Indian Red

I LOVE Nars Indian Red. Never have a had a lip stain that was so perfect. I check all the time on Nars ‘s website waiting for them to bring it back. Just perfect!

Hmm, I haven’t found one that I consider the end of all red lipglosses, to be honest. I also have so many of them but I don’t think anything stands out.

I have two faves, but neither is a traditional lip gloss.

I love, love, love Lime Crime’s Velvetines in Red Velvet because it’s a matte lip gloss that goes on easily and stays on all day. It feathers a bit, but that’s what lip liner is for. 😉

My other unconventional fave lip gloss is OCC lip tar in Black Dahlia. It’s the best, most sinister red and it doesn’t just wipe off. It stains your lips and can take days to wear off without a good lip scrub. It has amazing staying power. In fact, I swatched it on my hand when I first got it and the color was still visible 5 days later despite frequent, obsessive hand-washing on my part. If you want a true red, go for NSFW instead of Black Dahlia.

Red gloss tends to bleed/migrate on me, so I simply wear a clear gloss over a red lipstick or pencil. I find Prestige Lip Vinyl to be perfect, as it isn’t sticky, but it doesn’t slide around, either.

My current fave is
Drugstore: Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer in “Big Bang”
High end I have a couple: Sonoran Rain lipglass from MAC (LE i think)
and my favorite “gloss” is MAC”s Dazzleglass in Love Alert which leans more to the pink side but has a redish sheen to it.

Great question! I have two:

For an everyday, wearable red, I agree with Sofi on Chanel Extrait de Gloss in Fatale. It’s definitely red, but brown enough that it’s just really easy to pull off with anything or at any time.

My truly favorite RED LIPGLOSS, however, is Bobbi Brown’s High Shimmer in Black Ruby. This is, simply, a party in a tube. It’s a deep red (rather than bright), but super shimmery, almost glittery, and very pigmented. In the very best (non-cheesy) way, it’s the perfect Christmas party lip shade. It’s the kind of product that turns, say, a white blouse or black sweater and dark jeans into a glamorous holiday outfit. Highly, highly recommend!

I swear by the Buxom full-on lip cream in red poppy. It doesn’t feather, lasts for hours, and is shiny and looks like you just ate a red Popsicle/stained look. It also smells really good, minty vanilla and it makes your lips tingle for hours. The tube lasts for a long time even with daily use

Illamasqua Succubus, fortunately I have an older one with the superior squeeze-tube applicator.
I’ve been avoiding getting new Illamasqua lipglosses because of the new brushes they have.

Quinctia Avatar

I’ve got two: Smashbox’s Lust, it’s sparkly and a deeper red, and it has a brush applicator. I got it in a two-pack at Ulta a couple years ago. The other is Milani Hot Flash, which is one of the full coverage glitter glosses, and I think it might be on its way out, I just saw the line on clearance last week. The name is amusing to me, and if you like full on opaque sparkle, that line is great.

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in RD607 Nocturne, although it’s not technically a lipgloss. If we’re going for lipgloss, then I would say Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss in Icon like a few others have said.
