Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation or It Cosmetics Celebration Foundation. The texture for these two pressed foundations is amazing and it really blends in with my skin.
Glo Minerals pressed base 🙂 Good coverage, suits my combination skin, LOADS of color choices and it’s matte with a healthy sheen.
I use Meow Cosmetics Pampered Puss and Flawless Feline (in Abyssinian light + medium combined to match me the best) mineral foundations. Pampered Puss blends in just perfect and Flawless Feline has a bit more coverage and I go over the more stubborn red areas. All the other powders I’ve tried make me too pink or cakey looking. I needed with yellow undertones.
As someone with aging skin and dryness issues, I’m not much of a powder foundation fan. It’s the least attractive option on me and I would rather grab a tinted foundation for quick light coverage. However, D&G powder foundation is quite tolerable and would probably be very lovely on younger skin.
I love Dolce and Gabanna Powder Foundation. It gives you 1/2 ounce…something other brands dont do anymore and it stays on forever…without the sticky feeling I get after application. And a little goes a long way. I do put on moisturizer before I apply but I do that even with liquid foundation.
Bare Minerals’ Ready powder foundation, HANDS DOWN !
Shiseido Sheer Mattifying powder foundation compact. It’s perfect!
Ditto
I know right? This foundation needs more love
My all time fave is Mac’s Studio Fix but recently I am REALLY loving Tarte’s Amazonian clay full coverage airbrush foundation. It covers well and looks really natural.
that’s the one I really want to try. I’m going to pick it up in the States when I’m there in a few weeks. It irks me that it’s so much more expensive in Canada. Do you know if the special brush is entirely necessary for it to work well?
I have this foundation, and have tried to apply it with other brushes I have and did not have as good as success. If you just need a bit of coverage other brushes are ok, but if you need the full coverage effect I have found the special brush so far is the best.
I LOOOOOOOOOVE Bobbi Brown’s Illuminating Finishing Powder. It has a medium (with a brush) /full (with the sponge included) coverage! The color range is great- Golden is the perfect match for my mixed race skin tone. Bobbi is the best match for my skin. It’s not too heavy and I feel like my skin can breathe while it’s eliminating shine. Definitely give it a try!
I swear by the Lorac POREfection baked perfecting powder as my everyday foundation. It covers so much and can be done in a matter of seconds. If I want to look extra put together, I can set it on top of a liquid foundation and have super coverage. I truly recommend this powder, because it’s my only holy grail product I’ve found so far.
CoverFX.
I’m shiny as heck and very few powders do a reasonable job mattefying that without extra powder (and some days you just want to put foundation on and go, you know?). Lots of other powders sink into my pores and make them look huge (looking at you, Bare Minerals). And it has good coverage, toning down my Rudolph nose and cheeks. CoverFX gives me good skin, all day.
I like the Physician’s Formula Healthy Wear (orange compact) because it has super high in SPF(50) which has become significantly harder to find in recent years. I also like Clinique Almost Powder. But most powder foundations are too light in coverage for my liking.
MAC Studio Fix my favorite… forever!
I haven’t tried many but I would say MAC studio fix foundation. It’s long lasting for my oily skin but I still prefer liquid for that dewy, natural look.
I liked Smashbox’s HD powder foundation a lot. But still, I prefer liquid.
NARS Powder Foundation SPF 12. Been using it since 2006 and though I’ve tried other brands and forms of foundation I keep going back to this. This is makeup perfection. You can pile it on and it will still look smooth and flawless. I’ve gotten the most compliments on my skin and the most questions on what I’m wearing when I wear this.
Mac Studio Fix NC30 works for me.
Hmmm – this is a tough one for me. I really like the MAC Studio-whatever (I can never recall the proper name) but I also really like Lise Watier Multi Fini and then for actual “mineral” powder foundations, I have a few that I like, some with SPF (PUR Minerals, Laura Mercier) and some without (IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation). Now, this all might change because I’m going to buy the new Tarte HD powder foundation and brush when I’m in the States in a few weeks. Review on this stuff are filled with high praise and I love everything I have ever tried from Tarte.
I only used Nars powder foundation. It was long lasting with sheer coverage. I don’t use powder foundation anymore as I like glowy look but I could highly recommend Nars.
Laura Mercier Mineral Foundation without a doubt !
1) bare minerals matte- it’s not heavy, good for my oily sensitive skin, medium coverage.
2) mac studio fix- full coverage, great shade range, pressed powder form makes it easy to apply.
3) cargo blu ray pressed powder- light-medium coverage, makes skin look smooth, excellent over liquid foundation.
I have tried many other powder foundations like pur minerals, dior, bare minerals original and pressed, makeup forever, amazing cosmetics, lancome, bobbi brown… They either made my skin itch, didn’t cover, caused acne breakouts, looked cakey, or oxidized shades darker than my skin.
Sephora Collection Microsmooth Foundation Face Powder
I’m really enjoying Studio Fix by MAC. Mineralize Skinfinihs Natural is good too but I wish there was a better colour selection…
Kiko or MUFE powder foundations, both are smooth, very easy to apply and quite long wearing. The new MUFE powder foundation is really good and not so pricey ( 34 € ), I love the packaging and the formula itself.
Powder FX by Cover FX. Love this stuff, have been using it for years. Great for your skin, great colour range, buildable & blendable coverage. I usually need something a little more moisturizing now as a base so I mostly use it for touchups for my oily nose and chin and it works really well on top of other products too. Excellent value for the money, can’t really say enough about it really. I have heard complaints about it looking chalky but I think those people aren’t applying it right, probably applying too heavily. If you apply with a light hand you can build it it up very nicely and natural looking.
probably Smashbox Halo
NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat. I love it. I use it as more of a setting powder, but it’s awesome as a foundation. It doesn’t make my skin look overly powdery.
Laura Mercier’s powder foundation! It’s so pricey considering the quantity but it’s buttery smooth, pigmented, and color match is perfect.
Bare Minerals! My only thing is it isn’t full-coverage but for 95% of the time, it’s all I need!
I like two that I found at Whole Foods, Zia and Mineral Fusion. Mineral Fusion has a tiny bit of luminescence. I’m also using a brand that I think is only online, Michael Todd True Organics, but I think they may just be making the skin care line now. I’m having a hard time finding the makeup.
For me it’s Bare Minerals Matte foundation since I have oily/sensitive skin.
Makeup Forever Pro
MUFE Pro as well. Doesn’t cake up or oxidize or irritate my skin. Lovely non-powdery finish. I don’t use it wet so it merely gives me very light coverage.
I’ve been a studio fix lover for years, and I’m at the point where I know there must be something better for my oily/combo skin, large pores issue near my nose. Suggestions?
It Cosmetics Celebration Foundation is the best I’ve found so far, but I haven’t tried many! (Though tbh, if their line went one half-shade lighter, I’d never need to look again). Silicone-free, well-priced, and medium-coverage, it’s everything a girl could want… PLUS it blends into the skin so absolutely seamlessly that it’s not only girl-friendly, but boy-friendly, too. 😀
I’m a longtime fan of stila’s Illuminating Powder Foundation. It’s sheer but evens out my complexion, doesn’t oxidize on me and I love the soft finish.
Meow Cosmetics. I’m shad “Inquisitive Sphinx.” The organization system is inane and the website designed to some logic system alien to the human race. Damn good foundation though!
MAC Studio Fix used with Sigma Round Kabuki. Don’t like it as much using the sponge.
Also want to try NARS!
Wet N Wild had an *amazing* one several years back, and of course (for some inexplicable reason), it was LE. I bought one, but didn’t even open it for nearly a year, which I ultimately regretted. Had I known how amazing it was, I would have bought several…
Milani had one that was comparable to MAC Studio Fix, but 1/4 of the price.
Currently, I’m loving Salma Hayak/Nuance. It doesn’t provide alot of coverage, but I’m at a point where I don’t need much. It’s talc-free, is light & neutral enough, and doesn’t change color or cake.
I have several in rotation, and prefer them to liquids, as they have a much longer shelf-life, and DS are typically just as good as HE.
Pur minerals is by far the best powder foundation i have ever tried. Not only is it a mineral, natural foundation, but it does good things for your skin. They have alot of colors, and its just fantastic.
MAC’s Studio Fix for sure. =)
I love the formula of Smashbox Halo. It really looks good and never looks cakey. I never use it alone, only when topping a tinted moisturizer or BB cream. However, between my second package and third, the color seems to have changed. Color selection always ran warm and dark so even though I’m NC 30, Light is a match for me. My current package looks very orange even though I have the same color I have always gotten (Light). I am very disappointed and don’t really use it much anymore due to color issues.
Chanels. Best hands down …been using it for over 10 years. Second is MAC studio fix .
Mac select sheer pressed powder. though i prefer to use it as a setting powder over my studio fix. I am on the lookout for a powder that keeps oilyies at bay though.
I liked Everyday Minerals semi-matte but with the weather where I live now, my skin is just too dry to support mineral foundation. I did like the Zia compact but that is no longer carried locally, nor can I find it online, so much for that. Now I am back to Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear talc-free face powder as my purse compact.
Bare Minerals!
Youngblood Loose Natural Mineral Foundation and La Prairie Cellular Treatment Foundation-Powder finish
MAC Lightful Ultracharge Foundation SPF 25/PA+++. Even before my huge love for makeup grew, this product has always been a must-have for me these last 3 years, at one point I used it on a daily basis over or without primer, it never breaks me out, it gives good matte coverage and I consider it long wearing given the fact that I live in a very high humidity place all year round.
Bare Minerals Loose Foundation (original formulation) is the only powder foundation that I’ve found wears well on my drier skin type. It’s also one of the few brands with a shade light enough for my winter skin tone. 🙂
I use Laura Geller Balance and Brighten in medium and I Love it, Great coverage and no powdery look!
Clinique Almost Powder Makeup for me for sure. Very light applied with a brush – evens out skin tone nicely. Or can be medium coverage with a sponge. Either way it doesn’t look cakey on my combination skin and doesn’t seem to make dry areas look flakey.
The only problem with it is that once i’ve used 2/3 of it and i’m hitting pan, the rest seems to break up easily making a huge mess! This has happened with 2 out of the 3 i’ve bought!
For years I used Bare Minerals and loved it! But as I’ve gotten older, I can’t use powders anymore so I had to switch to a liquid foundation.
Hands down it’s Laura Mercier Minerals. I’m in my early 50’s and this is the only one I’ve found that doesn’t make me look wrinkled and dry. My only complaint would be the color range, or lack there of! I have to use the darkest color they have during summer months, and I have to be really careful with it because it can get ashy and splotchy.
MAC Studio Fix
Jane Iredale’s PurePressed foundation is very nice. StudioFix provides slightly more coverage, and is my current go-to.
I don’t use it as foundation per se, but I do have powder foundation for my bag to touch up, especially when I’m out for an evening, because I can fix pretty much any foundation problems I may have with it, plus control shine at the same time. I’ve used Lorac wet/dry for years and really liked it, but I’m trying to go as paraben free as possible, so just switched to Becca mineral powder foundation. So far so good.
Urban Decay Surreal Skin Mineral Foundation. Matches my skin nicely, and I like that once I put it on, I can’t *feel* it on. It feels very natural, not cakey.
1) Noella Beauty Works foundation, followed in close second by Meow Cosmetics Pampered Puss & Flawless Feline. I’ve tried them all – BareMinerals, Everyday Minerals, Alima, and some high end ones from the big brands, and these indie companies take the cake (not affiliated)
Definitely Clinique Almost Powder makeup for a light-medium coverage. So nice and underrated
Rimmel Stay Matte and MAC Studio Careblend 🙂
I would like to ask if you tried using Ben Nye’s Banana Luxury Powder… How was it?
Thanks and regards!
🙂
I love MAC Studio Fix powder because it is so silky and has a medium-light buildable coverage. It covers but keep your skin looking natural and glowy. For my skin type (combination), it last a little bit less, however this power last longer on my skin than other powders
