The one I just found and love is the YesTo Cucumber soothing mask! I have combo skin (oily in the t-zone and moderately dry everywhere else), and this mask isn’t too drying plus makes my skin suuuuuuper soft! I try to use it weekly since the softness lasts for around that long.
Also it smells like cucumbers. Yum 😀
I like that one too!
I tried a sample of a Vichy mask a while ago, I think it was from Normaderm. I loved it!
I have several facial masks from the body shop, (tea tree, oats and honey, blue corn ) which really made my skin feel great later
I have dry, sensitive skin which had gone a bit dull over the years. I started using the REN Radiance Renewal Mask after reading reviews and have been thoroughly impressed the last two months. My skin is dewy prior to makeup and there was a surprising reduction in these irritated little red bumps I had previously had on my forehead. It did more than I expected it to do for me and it works so well in conjunction with my other products.
Queen Helene Mint julep! Perfect for my normal to slight oily and oily t-zone with black heads and what not!
I have actually never used a facial mask because I have very sensitive skin and I’m nervous but I am looking forward to see what others have used and try out some new things (:
I have oily/acne prone skin. My favorite detoxifying mask is the Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask. Its a clay based mask, but it also has Marajuca Honey in it which is antibacterial and moisturizing. It cleans everything out, but doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped or dry.
I have also just discovered the REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask which I love – it helps even out my skin tone and is also clarifying. In that same vein Im really loving the Michael Todd Pumpkin Mask which is an exfoliating mask, but also helps brighten and clear skin with glycolic acid and the pumpkin enzymes.
i really dont like using face masks because they make skin drier but i loved freeman’s beauty chocolate and strawberry face mask!
Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask. It works really well, and a tube lasts forever, I’ve used it probably 20 times and small size is only about a fifth gone
Queen Helene mint julep mask. I’m oily skinned, but dry skinned people love it too.
^^ What Jan said ^^
🙂
I have dry, red, sensitive skin and the best mask I’ve used is Fresh’s Rose Face Mask. Super hydrating, calming, and all around wonderful.
I have normal to dry skin, and my favorite kind of mask are the My Beauty Diary sheet masks from Sasa.com! They seriously miraculously solve any dryness/redness issues without triggering sensitivity (an issue of mine in extremely warm or cold weather). They are so inexpensive, too, and I like to collect lots of different kinds depending on what my skin needs at the time!
In terms of a more traditional mask, Lush’s Oatifix is always a welcome winter treat. It soothes my skin, and removes redness from the cold and wind.
I have dry, sensitive skin. I get a jar of Oatifix by Lush when it is achy. A thick coat every night and my skin is back to being plump. I feel it really quenches the thirst and it smells like banana bread, who wouldn’t want that! I’ve also used it on keratosis pilaris patches with good results!
Saint-Gervais moisturizing/soothing mask. Very good ( thermal water in it ), and not pricey !
I love me self a thick homemade mask for my extremely dry sensitive skin (I am 25) of bananas, mayonnaise and olive oil, this works wonders to my skin and it is so much better now. Only downside is keeping it in place so I have to lie down every time I put it on, when instead I would like to use that time to do something else as well.
Schaebens Totes Meet Salz mask and Boots BotanicsGreen Clay are my favourites. Or iI like to make my own with rhassoul clay, chamomile tea and olive oil.
Origins Drink Up Intensive for my dry skin
…make that dry sensitive skin
I have normal skin that’s not sensitive, and I love the Ole Henriksen Power Peel kit. I’ve never been that impressed by any at home mask I’ve tried, and this is the only one that I use routinely because it actually makes a lasting difference on my skin.
LUSH Love Lettuce and the honey one…Brazened Honey maybe? I can’t remember the name of the honey mask but they’re both exfoliating and seem to tighten up my skin. My skin is SO soft after using both of these masks. I usually alternate them.
Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Mask – absolutely wonderful for the super-dry areas of my face in the winter. My skin is normally combination but also aging. Cold and central heating dry it out, even with my humidifier running full blast. Paula’s Skin Recovery Mask saved my life last winter. The ingredients list reads like a primer on good things for dry or dehydrated skin: macadamia nut oil, apricot kernel oil, olive oil, glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, etc. It’s inexpensive and can also be used with, or instead of, a night cream or serum. My skin and eyes are very sensitive,. This doesn’t sting if it gets near my eyes and leaves my skin smooth, baby’s bum soft, and plumped up. Love it!
When I’m dehydrated and breaking out:
SKII Treatment mask – deeply hydatres, exfoliates dry skin, heals acnes, keeps hydration in your skin all day long, worth the price and the hype. But not recommended for sensitive skin
When my skin feels congested:
Boscia Luminizing Peel Off Mask – skin looks and feel clean after using
I’m 40, with normal-dry skin (although not flaky/patchy), and noy acne-prone. However, I do have visible pores, which is my primary skin issue, apart from a bit of redness. I simply use Calcium Bentonite clay, mixed with either water or Apple Cider vinegar, and it clears my pores of everything, making the noticably smaller. I also moisturize with Jojoba Oil, which aids in purging the pores. The clay mask, which I use as needed (every couple of months, every day for a week or two) also leaves my skin feeling as smooth as my 7-year-olds. It’s the most inexpensive, yet most effective mask I’ve ever used, and I’ve been through dozens.
I don’t have a specific brand in general but lately I’ve been LOVING sheet masks and I mean like the cheapy Asian ones I find in Asian beauty/food stores (Pearl River and Chinatown here in NY) that are $2 each or so. I have overall combo skin with an oily-ish t-zone and dry-ish cheeks, especially when my eczema acts up. I love that they seem to balance my skin and make the dry areas feel really hydrated and that they overall leave my skin feeling plump and juicy. I have no aging concerns whatsoever but I feel like they make my skin feel youthful and I like that. 🙂
Bentonite clay + apple cider vinegar. I have the lovely combination of acne prone, oily, and extremely sensitive skin (I once ended up in urgent care after putting just a few drops of tea tree oil in a mask). The clay and vinegar is the only thing I’ve found that unclogs my pores without killing my skin.
I really like clay based masks even if I have to slather a bit of oil on my cheeks before applying. Borghese Fango (which I actually got at Costco for next to nothing and, of course, now they no longer have it at all) is great but I’m another fan of Queen Helene and also of a mud mask from Pur Minerals. When my skin it more dry and delicate feeling,I’ve got several sample tubes of Clarins’ Super Restorative Replenishing mask, which is lovely. I’m glad it’s almost always included in their bonus packs that they do 2 or 3 times a year, because I don’t think I’d shell out over $60 for it. I need to check out this Yes to Cucumbers mask that others have mentioned.
My skin is very oily in the t-zone, and moderately oily everywhere else, a fair amount of blackheads, breakouts occasionally, often dehydrated in the winter. I have a few favorite masks that I use for different purposes.
Exfoliating: PSF Pumpkin Enzyme Peel. Possibly my favorite mask ever. It exfoliates well, while still being gentle (using glycolic acid, salisylic acid and pumpkin enzymes). Leaves my skin feeling clean, hydrated and silky smooth. Extra bonus points for smelling just like freshly baked pumpkin pie!
Deep cleaning/oil control: PSF Blemish Clarifying Mud. Great mask for oil control if you have very oily skin. Helps clear out and minimize pores. This is also an excellent overnight treatment for breakouts.
Hydrating/soothing/brightening: Eminence Organics Stone Crop Masque. Gives lots of hydration, evens out the skin tone, helps with redness and calms the skin down after over-exfoliating.
I have to stop myself from adding a bunch of Eminence Organics masks to the list, because they are the best brand I’ve found for masks. A few other favorites include Sour Cherry Masque (hydrating for oily and mature skin), Seven Herb Treatment (hydrating, helps balancing the skin) Lime Stimulating Masque (detoxifying), Hungarian Herbal Mud Treatment (GREAT for detoxifying and preventing breakouts), Pineapple Enzyme Pro Peel 10% (exfoliating)
I have oily acne-prone skin – lately, I’ve been loving Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask. I start with a clean face, lay a hot towel over my face for a couple of moments and then start slathering this mask on. After this, I usually follow up with a sheet mask that I’ve tossed in a fridge – been really liking the Innisfree It’s Real Face Mask in Jejubija.
For super spotty days – I use the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask. It’s a little too harsh for me to use all over my face but for spot treatment, it works really well for me. Before I go to sleep, I smother the spot in it and it speeds up the process in getting rid of it.
I really love LUSH’s Fresh Face Masks. I like their Catastrophe Cosmetic to help with redness and any congestion in my pores. But I do find it to be the slightest bit drying, so for a more moisturizing mask I like their mask in Oatifix.
My skin type: acne, combination, dry patches, some oiliness, prone to eczema, redness, visible capillaires, extra-sensitive
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask:
CALMS & RELIEVES skin immediately–whenever my skin is dry, tight, too red, inflamed, feels raw, I slap this stuff and it works immediately. I MIGHT be allergic to their licorice extract or whatever they use for their antioxidant bc I can’t use anything else in the line without my skin feeling tight or tingly but I guess 10 minutes worth of exposure isn’t enough to do harm on me. Another perk? Smells like COOKIES but there is NO FRAGRANCE! (none that is known to be dermatitis-inducing for most)
Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Oil Absorbing Mask:
A clay mask with calming and hydrating ingredients–perfect for sensitive skin. At a decent price point too. Helps dry up any zits.
