I haven’t tried this serum, but as with all skin care it’s important to give it at least 30 days (unless you have a really bad reaction to it). How your skin looks and feels after a couple of days doesn’t really matter, as the results you see then is mostly superficial. Long-time results requires time and patience. 🙂

Oh, that one is one that TOTALLY works for me. To be honest, you only see a difference when you stop using it (after two weeks or so). I thought it didn’t do anything and I abandoned it and it languished on my bathroom counter but I recently picked it back up and BAM! Smoother, plumpier, less tired looking skin. Can’t say it works on brown spots (I have freckly bits all over my face), but it makes a difference. I only use it at night, though. It probably works faster if you use it twice a day.

I LOVE Caudalie’s Vinoperfect Serum. It WORKS and the ingredients are safe for your skin. The other serums I’ve used literally do not leave my skin feeling as soft and supple as this serum. It’s milky, soothing, and feels luxurious.

I’ve been using Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum for about a year and half now. I tried to switch to something else and the rough texture of my skin came back and I started breaking out. So I don’t think I’m going to switch for quite some time!

I wanted to love that serum so bad, but it irritated my skin – broke out in acne and a bad rash. I felt like I had a sunburn (ironic since I am not supposed to spend time in teh sun at all – on the plus side, didn’t need blush for a while). I have several friends who swear by it, and all have beautiful skin now. I let them fight over my barely used bottle 🙁

Couldn’t agree more! Also, a little tip from a former EL employee: Add a drop or 2 to your liquid foundation. Lasts longer, grabs less, skin benefits… Just wish it weren’t so expensive!

The Ole Henriksen Truth Serum is fabulous and probably stands at the top of my list. The most dramatically effective serum I’ve ever tried was the Clarins V Shape “Lipo-drain” serum which is supposed to drain fat and contour your face. I only used it for a week, but not only did it seem to do its intended purpose, it was also shrinking pores, reducing redness, and getting rid of any puffiness that I’m prone to get from fatigue and allergies. I’m in love with/terrified of it.

I would have to say Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair serum. It has improved the texture of my skin. It is not an overnight miracle worker, but with months of use, I actually saw noticeable improvements. It is the only serum I have used and actually saw results.

But I HATE the price tag! It is ridiculously overpriced IMO.

I really wish we had CCOs in Hawaii! I hear so many wonderful things about them. I’m sure its like a beauty products candy land! Next time I go to the mainland, I’ll make sure to visit one. =D

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery complex serum (Long name). It always keeps my skin looking nice and supple the next day and doesn’t break out my acne prone skin. I have also tried the Caudalie one someone mentioned and its good too! Both are about $80. Ouch!

I use three serums: SkinActives Rosacea Control Serum, SkinActives Collagen Serum and SkinActives Classic Collagen Serum. I first apply the Rosacea Control on my rosacea areas and then I layer on top the Collagen Serum for the day or the Classic at night ( has ingredients that help with broken thread capillaries). None of these serums is hydrating or moisturizing. I top them off with a treatment cream. These are workaholic serums. The Rosacea one controls my redness and flare-ups and the Collagen ones stimulate my own skin to hold on to its collagen. These are not fast acting serums…takes a bit of time to see the results. I like them because they work for me, there are no exorbitant promises and they are quite affordable.

pyrokitten Avatar

do you find that serums with ingredients meant to help reduce broken capillaries actually work for that purpose? i’m under the impression that you need laser treatment for broken capillaries, but i’d love to see if a topical product could help since the laser treatments are very expensive.

patsyann Avatar

In answer to Pyrokitten question, I don’t know if the serum I use is as effective as laser treatment for broken capillaries because I have never tried the laser . My dermatologist does not use laser for broken capillaries. He uses an injectable that is very effective but must be repeated several times for the very worst ones. I have, unfortunately, become allergic to one of the ingredients in the injection so I can’t do that any more. The serum that I use has helped but not eliminated all broken capillaries. It takes time. I did not see any results to the naked eye for at least 3 months. The small indie company that I get my serums from also makes a face cream that targets broken capillaries. I layer that on top of the serum several nights a week. The combo is pretty effective, but slow.

Jax Avatar

I just got some broken capillaries lasered and it was not anywhere as expensive as I thought. It will depend on your specifics but I had a large mark on my nose and a few smaller ones on my cheeks and she zapped those on the discounted trial session and they vanished in a few days. I wish I’d had it done much earlier. (my session was £40 or approx £60)

1.korres quercetin and oak-more of a dry finish good for summer, korres wild rose-more of a hydrating and a bit sticky finish that sinks into the skin but slower, good for winter! both are my HG!!!
2. Ole henriksen truth serum, very watery good for brightening complexion, no stickiness whatsoever
3. SOS vinoperfect by caudalie – super hydrating, great for dehydrated skin
4. l’occitane extrait divine-very moisturizing, saves my skin after long haul flights
5. este lauder advanced night repair, kind of had its moment, used to be my fave one, but now I think there are lots of better option out there. overall good serum
6. dr brandt -overnight resurfacing serum with active retinol – good serum, not that hydrating, very good for complexion, wouldn’t buy again, but worth the money.
all of then are good for my supersensitive skin, don’t clog pores, right now I’m using korres and caudalie ones for almost a year, love them! highly recommended!

I have tried loads of serums, and my current favorite right now is REN Radiance Perfection Serum. I have insanely dry skin and I would say that my skin has never looked better and I have to exfoliate much less often.

L’oreal youth code texture perfector serum (pink bottle). I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and have been getting SO many compliments on how good my skin looks. I don’t even wear makeup anymore. It’s amazing! It’s also a steal compared to other high-end serums out there.

Candace Avatar

Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum is the first one I really, really loved. La Roche Posay’s Effaclar Duo has been rocking my world too – it’s kind of a lightweight moisturizer/serum-ish texture, but I use it under my regular moisturizer so consider it a serum.

The one that is truly a miracle worker for me is EL Perfectionist. It does an amazing job of diminishing deep wrinkles and making my skin smooth and clear. It is expensive, but I can always find it at my CCO

I absolutely love MAC’s Moisture Infusion Serum. My skin is so much clearer and the tone is firmer and the color is more even. It really plumps up my skin and the MAC Mineralize Lotion I put on top seals it all in. I don’t really get breakouts anymore or blackheads either.

For the AM, Philosophy WHINE firming serum. For the PM, Philosophy Miracle Worker retinol pads, which combined with the Clarisonic really do work miracles!

Sarah Avatar

Paula’s Choice RESIST Ultra-Light Antioxidant Serum in conjunction with RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment makes my skin feel smooth and soft! I don’t have a lot of experience with serums, though.

Jessi Avatar

MAC Moisture Infusion is great for simple hydration at a reasonable price, but it’s only for hydration and not brightening or retexturing.

For something that dos it all, Clarin’s latest reformulation of Double Serum is fantastic. I used to use it for years then had to switch to other brands that did more; but as of this past year I’m back to Clarins.

For a very special serum with a unique function, Rodial Glamoxy Snake Serum is really impressive. It’s got numbing agents and you use it on spots where you’re holding tension in the face for a temporary mini botox effect. It’s expensive but if you’re getting frown lines or squint lines, this will stop them in their tracks. You still need moisture on top of it, though.

Turnaround Concentrate Radiance Renewer. I would like to try the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic , NeoStrata – Renewal Cream 12 PHA and Paula’s Choice products , if i managed to find a way not pay so much for VAT and Taxes (for USA imported items) in Greece

The avon cream its like a serum consistency , its in the red jar I think called regenerist ? is really nice I rarely hit pan on anything but I did with this and the two eye creams in the line.

Stacey Avatar

Paula Begoun’s RESIST C15 Super Booster mixed with Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair. My face is flawlessly beautiful because of this combo!

Mitzy G Avatar

I use the Olay Regenerist religiously. As a matter of fact, I am recovering from a head cold or some such nasty and have my Regenerist sitting on the end table next to me. I apply it two or three times around my nose and upper lip where I am having some redness/soreness due to tissues. Saving mah face!

The only serum that I’ve been using is MAC Prep + Prime Skin Brightening Serum- I love it! It’s done exactly what it promises to do. I had some hyper pigmentation on my cheeks & it’s pretty much gone now. I will continue to use this serum as it works for me. I am thinking about getting a sample of the No. 28 serum from Hourglass to see how my skin likes it- I like to try out new stuff 🙂

I will give this serum a try – Im always looking for new serums. I have been using Lady Soma Renewal Serum for 6 months now. My skin drank up the Lady Soma serum right away. It is really light serum with great citrus scent. I was afraid that it was gonna give a stingy sth feeling to my face, but not at all. I would alternate between this one and the Lady Soma Serum!
