Got the brush set back in Dec. as a Sephora Insider promote, it was complete junk!! Blush brush fell apart (cheap). I was willing to keep the brush for the container, but that is junk too (plastic). Returned it before it was even released.

Carrie Ann Avatar

I’ve always loved Hello Kitty, but I’m a little too old for some of that stuff and a lot of it is overpriced, so I just bought one of the nail lacquers. Some of the colors looked pretty unique. Unfortunately, the compact mirror was sold out. My niece would absolutely love this stuff.

Tiffany C. Avatar

Just ordered the brush set and the purple felt tip liner!!! i missed out on all of MAC’s hello kitty and honestly i think this set is much prettier!!!

Diana M. Avatar

I completely agree! I just went over to get some of the accessories and found that none of the items came close to the quality and style of the MAC items. The brushes are junk and the makeup isn’t worth spending any money on. However the packaging is flashy and cute which even I can appreciate.

Eliza Avatar

hello kitty and mac was enough for me. at least with mac the packaging was so much better, and the quality too. don’t get me wrong, sephora’s nice and all, but the packaging looks like it walked out of a japanese dollar store.

Marcela Avatar

LMAO japanese dollar store! I agree, the packaging looks to childish whereas the MAC packaging was “grown-up” but maintained the fun aspect of Hello Kitty.

elise Avatar

I am so happy that I just looked at this post as I forgot to check my email today. If not for this I would have missed it. Thanks to you i just got my order in for all the stuff i wanted. I collect hello kitty and i got the brush set, the hand held mirror, both shadow compacts, the large perfume bottle and pencil set. Please note that the only way you can get to that product page is through your email that has a special link. This will be an extra christmas gift to me. Thank You Temptalia!

Ani_BEE Avatar

I’m sad 🙁 the Charmmy Eyeshadow Sticks I wanted to try out are sold out. I knew they have a few pale shades … but those are the ones that are gone.

Pattie Avatar

Aww, Im VIB but I didnt get an email and when I search on sephora’s website it just says sign up to be the first to know when it arrives in store. ohh well back to studying I go

Rosalinda Avatar

If you search for “private event” in the Brands area it will show up. You don’t need the special link, but you do need to be a beauty insider to purchase.

Marcela Avatar

I love Hello Kitty but much of this packaging is very kiddie-ish (and judging by the prices and being a Sephora collection, this is meant to be aimed at adults). On the other hand I think MAC did a great job of packaging their Hello Kitty stuff in a “grown-up way” while still keeping the fun aspect.

AnGeLwInGz Avatar

OMG I am notorious for my love of Hello Kitty (my car looks like it was made in the Sanrio factory, I have her face detailed on my gas cap so you can imagine all of the other accessories I have going on there)! I have to get something but I’m curious about the quality, especially at those prices. Hope it’s not as disappointing as the Tokidoki shadows. The compact is gorgeous!

Maya Avatar

Love Hello Kitty. I’d really like to get the mirrors, especially the one covered in crystals, and try the perfume! Whoever the genius is that thought to combine Hello Kitty and Sephora deserves a raise.

nicci Avatar

I was surprised to get the email this morning from Sephora. I definitely want to get a few items – I want to get the blotting sheets just because it has Hello Kitty everywhere on it. I guess I’m different – w/the MAC collection w/HK came out I didn’t like it at all. I didn’t like the black incorporated in it. But I do like the packaging that Sephora has. I don’t really think it is too childish and I’m 27. I used to be big into HK but it faded a little but I can’t resist this! 🙂

Caitlin Avatar

Can someone just give me a quick description of the fragrance? Does it smell good or bad?
I also really want to get the apple balm… but only when it comes into stores. 🙂
Thanks!

elise Avatar

I am so glad that I made my order this morning. I loged inn again few minutes ago as my friend asked me to order some stuff for her and almost all of it is sold out. The brush set, the big hand held mirror, the compact mirror, the perfume bottle and even the small one too are all sold out. I had to call my friend back and tell her sorry you will have to wait for it to come out in stores. Than I got worried about my own order so I checked it out but it already went to the warehouse so I’m all good. All the itoms that I got are all sold out already. I know that it will be coming back in mid January but this way I am sure that I got everything I wanted. Like it or not this stuff is very popular and it will be sold out very quickly, especially when people start doing video reviews and others will see this stuff is good quality. Also, it is true that some of this stuff was available in Japan long time ago, as I got the rinestone mirror some time ago in japan and I have to tell you the quality is very good. I do not know how it looks to people on line but none of this stuff is in plastic or looks like dollar store. It is all very well made and solid, trust me.

Rose Avatar

Totally agreed about the high quality (I saw this line at Sanrio’s 50th anniversary event in LA) and it looked absolutely gorgeous!! Btw, you’re right, there was a HK line of cosmetics that was released in Japan already, however, that one was not made by the Sephora Brand, but the package styling was very similar.

Ani_BEE Avatar

I fine with that since some of the shades look more wearable to me being so pale. Things i want to get are the brush kit … sucker for synthetic brushes. I bet there are better Quality compared to the Hello Kitty set I bought from MAC. The Hello Kitty Fragrance I think I’ll like with all the citric notes. The Creamy eyeshadow sticks (there’s a few shades I would love but unsure of the texture). The shower cap is funny but it’s not worth $16. >_< That I can buy from Dollar store. I would like to try the nail polish but I hope it's good consistency.

This line in lunching in January … so much for my Winter No-Buy.

Rose Avatar

I Saw this collection at Sanrio’s 50th anniversary carnival in Los Angeles, this whole collection is gorgeous, all the people saying it looks cheapo only have these photos to base their opinions off of. Everything was enclosed in a glass case, so people couldn’t touch it, but I can tell you that all the mirrors/compacts, brush set, perfume bottles, and nail polishes looked really sturdy and well crafted. I feel like this line is more true to the spirit of Sanrio and HK compared to the MAC collection. I hated the packaging, it took itself too seriously. This collection is fun and light. Plus, it appeals to all ages because it conjures up memories of your childhood loving all things Sanrio.
BTW, this line is limited edition, it’s not a permanent line, so if you want it definitely don’t hesitate to purchase it in January or else you’ll miss out (A Sephora VIB line rep confirmed this. Also, it’s cruelty-free and made by the Sephora Brand.

Jessica Avatar

I’ve never been one to complain about the look of a product until now… but this collection looks like pre-teen play makeup, like it would be in the toy section of Target.

Quinctia Avatar

Man, I wish I wasn’t so sensitive to perfume or that I had a real Sephora nearby so I could sniff test it, because the bottle’s adorable. The other products don’t look like they’re great quality, but I love Hello Kitty. :/

Rosalinda Avatar

I am excited about this collection and cannot wait until January since yesterday I missed out on the Pink Sprinkles nail polish BUT I was able to get Blueberry and Purple Sprinkles, the modern nail decals and the brush set. I was a little bummed that the compact was sold out but I went online this morning and it was back in stock!!! With free 2day shipping so I went ahead and picked that up!! I can’t wait til my stuff gets here.

Gaby Avatar

Cute, but very little girl-esque in its packaging. I prefer the packaging from mac. I have always been an avid hello kitty fan, but as an adult, I need it to be packaged differently.

Rose Avatar

The Hello Kitty Beauty collection IS LIMITED Edition for Sephora. I contacted VIB’s Customer Service and asked. So this is a verified answer from Sephora.
So,Don’t hesitate to buy this line if you see something you want now… this line will sell out quickly online and instore =D better to buy it straight from Sephora than resorting to eBay

dawn Avatar

I really want the mirrors and the spray parfum, but this limited edition garbage has gotten old for me. I think wanting the naked palette so badly when it finally came out it made me think they can just shove it…..shopping should be fun and instead I’m finding as far as cosmetic lines go they make it purposely stressful. Why don’t they accept advanced orders where people can pay and they fullfill them? Seems like they would make so much more money and everyone would be happy. What UB did turned me off so badly I won’t buy from them now since I wanted the things for Xmas.

Swt Azn Qt Avatar

Does anyone know when is it the last chance to purchase this Hello Kitty collection @ Sephora? I’m waiting to buy these items until near the end of this year when Sephora is more affordable around that time of the year, as I’m EXTREMELY tight on my budget!!! =’(

Swt Azn Qt Avatar

I’ll be getting 3 things at the least or 12 things at the most! It depends what colours they have and whether or not I can decide on just one colour or not for products that have different shades to choose from! Also, does anyone know if any of this is available for Canadians as I hate it when Sephora retardedly restricts some of the products that they have to its Canadian customers and how much do they cost in CAD? Thanks!

Swt Azn Qt Avatar

I just found out today that it’ll be in-stores in Canada too! Yay! =D But only it’s going to be out in April though…but it’s okay, as long as I can get my hands on them! Haha! =P I’ve just got laid off from my job last year…='( So…it looks like I’ll be getting these Hello Kitty things for my late birthday early next year as well…! ='(

Jane Avatar

“Hello Kitty Beauty will officially launch in all stores and online in mid January.”

Incase anyone was wondering when the collection will “actually” be available. (Quote taken from Sephora.com)

Rosalinda Avatar

OMG!!!! I just got one of my packages and let me tell you girls that everything is amazing and of great quality. It’s better than MAC’s collection.

Rosalinda Avatar

I got the brush set, 2 nail polishes one in blueberry and the other in purple sprinkles, the compact, and the nail decals in modern. Were you able to get anything?

Rose Avatar

I got the brush set and the two palettes. I LOVE the smell of the lipglosses in the palettes! Too bad, I’m gifting ALL of this to my sis =( I’m gonna wait til it’s released to get the lipglosses. I thought the brushes are really well made, they’re super soft for being synthetic and the handles seem sturdy (Far better quality than the MAC collection’s set). Btw, how’s the polishes? I saw a youtube review and the girl wasn’t impressed, she thought it was streaky and too sheer.

Rose Avatar

I’m kinda with you =D! I only buy HK stuff for my sis and friends. I LOVE the Little Twin Stars and Badtz Maru! I’m kinda annoyed that all my local Sanrio’s are basically shrines to Hello Kitty and they have tiny sections for all the other characters. It also annoyed me that for Sanrio’s 50th anniv. product line, the majority of it featured HK. I get that she’s the most recognizable character of the brand, however, for the 50th anniversary, I was expecting them to highlight ALL their characters equally.

Tina Avatar

I think this collection is quite cute! Im totally eyeing the Brush Set. I missed out on the Hello Kitty MAC brush set and heard that it was bad. Hope that these brushes are good! I betcha I’ll be soo broke when I buy from this collection 🙁

Rose Avatar

You won’t regret buying this brush set! I got this set for my sis and I felt the brushes, they’re super soft and the handles are sturdy, I have the HK MAC set and these seem so much better!

Karla Avatar

Idk how to feel about this collection excited or blah. I love hello kitty but this doesn’t make me wanna go and shop for this. I will probably just be getting the nail polishes and some lip/cheek products….

Rose Avatar

ugh the polishes were awful, I got the blueberry color and even though it was opaque, it applied horribly dried very streaky and I got pink sprinkles, which was super sheer, would probably look great layered over another color though

Rose Avatar

It’s on sale now on Sephora.com, just type in: Hello Kitty on the search box =) it’s been active since 10am PST today, Sephora still hasn’t mailed out the alerts! Also, call your local Full Sephoras and ask if they have the line in stock b/c 2 of my local stores had the line out earlier this week already

morena123 Avatar

These companies and their sales tactics!!! They waned to get rid of the christmas stuff (i just bought a sephora brush set for the holidays) and now i like these brushes because they r cute. There’s nothing that i need from this collection so im prob going ot skip this one. I would like to check out those eyeshadow sticks though.

Rose Avatar

It’s absolutely worth skipping! The MAC line at least had great quality makeup, the quality of Sephora’s collection is appalling! I’ve tried drugstore brands better than this one! It’s overpriced for what it is. Little girls would love to play with this, but grown women who love makeup should definitely skip it. But I do like the accessories they’re very cute and appropriate at any age!

divinem (Melissa) Avatar

Thanks for the heads up, Christine. The brush set, while entertaining, is SO cheap! I don’t mind synthetic brushes, but these are ridiculous. They’re mini brushes and feel like toys. The HK is cuter and much bigger than I thought it would be. I was so caught up in the excitement of it I couldn’t resist. I would not repurchase, however.

Karly Avatar

Mac`s was by far better, I got most of it & will defo skip this. Mac`s quality surpasses Sephora`s brand any given day! Mimi lip gloss kicks butt. Thanks for the posting Christine, ur by far the #1 blogger in America.

Jean Avatar

Even though I’m not a big Hello Kitty fan that is a very cute collection, simple and clean. I think I saw a giant HK statue when I was working in New York… If anyone has seen this, can you enlighten me as to where it was (I worked in mid-town Manhattan) and why it was there??? Thanks!

amelia Avatar

You found this Wind-Up Hello Kitty as part of Tom Sachs’s Bronze Collection, in front of the Lever House at Park Avenue @ 53rd St. It is a really unexpected but cute piece of art there, I love it!

Kerstan Avatar

The eyeshadows are really good – but the lipglosses have NO color payoff. I just got the Super Fun palette. It was worth it for the eyeshadows.

kim Avatar

pretty disappointed. the silver packing on the brush sets and mirrors looks cute. the eye shadows are not pigmented as MAC’s hk. all the lip glosses and apple cheeks are just a sheer wash of color. If you’ve missed the mac hk collection this is ur chance to get it the sephora.

Kristen Avatar

Just ordered the bling mirror, I couldn’t pass it up! I was a little concerned about quality in the color cosmetic products (not crazy about the Sephora collection items in general …) so I didn’t try them. But the packaging is super cute all around.

Vanessa S Avatar

I LOVE Hello Kitty but i have to admit this collection looks a little cheap 🙁 Its very disapointing becuase MAC Hello Kitty was gorgeous… Sephora! Get With The Program.

Christy Avatar

Bought the Kohl liner set back in December during the private sale weekend. I’ll be honest, I’ve only swatched them and the colors are decent. My favorite pencils at this point are MAC pearlglides (they really need to release more colors). I was a huge Kitty fan as a child so not all is lost. The tin case that they come in is cute enough to justify the purchase. I’m realizing more and more that some items are simply collectibles vs. things I’ll get a lot of use from. The jury is still out of whether I’m entirely ok with this concept. =)

Andrea Avatar

I really thought that this collection was going to be pretty similar to MAC’s Hello Kitty collection, but I think that the brushes are the only ones that kinda look alike…. I really want to try them!

Kerstan Avatar

I went last night and the sephora had the testers out – they said they weren’t going out for a few days but the let me buy one thing – was so happy got the “Super Fun” palette the eyeshadows are amazing – the lipglosses are disappointing but for the eyeshadows it was worth the $35!

jell Avatar

How I wish sephora will open a branch here in the philippines 🙁 I love hello kitty. But shipping is so long. Took my friend 2 months before she got herb order

Mabeline Avatar

When Sephora did a sneak preview of this line I was too late to buy up anything because everything sold out in minutes. I thought that when it finally became available to everyone, I would jump at the chance to buy anything from this collection. Now that everything is in stock online, I just don’t have the desire to buy anything. Weird, right?

I think I’ll save my money for MAC’s Wonder Woman collection – one of their eyeshadow palettes is calling my name! 🙂

Loeny Avatar

The mirrors and perfume look high quality but the other stuff looks like it’s for kids! And the quality….reminds me of BonneBell lol. Kinda disappointed =/

Katie Avatar

sooo i went to my sephora store today and i was the first one to see their collection however this store only had like half of this stuff. i was really disappointed. plus the JC penney stores dont carry this (according to a few i called anyway) so i dont know why all the stores dont carry all the items….anyway good blog ~!!!

MissDeeCanada Avatar

I think this is really tacky. This has BEEN DONE. We saw a makeup collection for hello kitty by mac like a year and a bit ago?! SO TACKY that another brand is doing the same thing now.

Kelly Avatar

Tacky?? Really?? I’d have to say that the reason another company is following suit is because it was so successful the first time…wouldn’t you?!?! I’d have to say that there are more than enough of us Hello Kitty lovers out there for a company to keep a permanent line at their store!! 🙂 🙂

Danielle Avatar

Will you be doing a review of these products (like how you normally do with the new MAC collections)? Not just a post with the promo photos?? I would love that! 🙂

Dani Diamond Avatar

i quite like abit of that, i wasabit sad 2 see the palettes so small and the packagin on abit is childish, cos the mac stuff was oadult and fashionable, but sum of this looks abit cheap but some looks nice =D
i used to love HK back in the days but yeah… the mirrors are sweet xx

Bekx Avatar

All in all, I am seriously unimpressed with the quality of the items that I tried. My 0.02…

*The compact mirror is cute and kitchy. I do like this.

But, I was disappointed by most of the other products that I bought.

*The brush set is poor quality. The container IS cute but I don’t think paying $49 for a plastic Hello Kitty brush holder w/crappy brushes is a good deal no matter how cute it is. I passed this on to my teenage niece (along with most of the other items). Thankfully, she is a huge HK fan so they didn’t go to waste.

*The cream highlighter (Cottonball) was okay, at best. It was way too shimmery for my taste but the texture wasn’t bad. It was easily blendable and buildable. IMHO, it’s not worth the money. There are better (and cheaper) highlighters out there. Most DS products surpass this in terms of quality.

*The twist up lip gloss (clear tube) was horrible! *shudder* I’m a bit of a gloss junkie. Tried more than my share of brands both HE and DS… This was very, very sticky. (I don’t mind a sticky gloss but this was beyond.) It had no color payoff to speak of and tasted of sweetened chemicals. Fail. Period.

*The gloss in the slim lipstick case was a BIT better. Thankfully, I only bought two. (the deep berry and Pinky) The color payoff was okay at best. The taste was marginally better. There are FAR better glosses for the money!

*The Apple balm was the best of all of the lip products, IMO. There was no sweetened chemical taste and it provided a nice light wash of color. I do like this. I could have done worse for $9.00.

*The nail polish bottles are cute but the quality of the polish itself was fair to poor (fair-Purple Sprinkes/poor-Blueberry).

I definitely recommend checking these out in-store before buying. It goes without saying but you are most definitely paying for the packaging.

FlutistEmeritus Avatar

Did anyone see the promo pics on the Sephora website? They copied MAC’s Hello Kitty Collection. Tsk tsk! I would take MAC over this anyday. A 45 dollar mirror with some rhinestones on it? Come on!
