Have you ever slept in your makeup?

Have you ever slept in your makeup? C’mon, share your shame!

I’ve taken unplanned naps on occasion with makeup on, but I tend to remove my makeup as soon as I get home or know I’m not going anywhere!

Unfortunately yes, yes I have…not anymore though…unless it’s a nap. When I was still completing my undergrad in art I pretty much lived in the art building on campus and came home so late I didn’t always make it to the bathroom to wash off my face before crashing!

Valene Avatar

Sadly yes! Just today actually, but to be fair, it’ unusual for me, and I ended up just crashing because of pain and medication. So I’ll forgive myself this time!

Barbara Vidal Avatar

NEVER. EVER. despite i love makeup, i hate the feel when the hours passes, the face gets a little oily and i´m aware that theres makeup. as soon as i get home i take it off

Maryelle Avatar

When I take quick naps between classes, I have no choice but to sleep in it. However, even after a crazy night of partying, I MUST take off my makeup even if I am dead tired…. I find it uncomfortable sleeping in the previous day’s makeup.

Kat Avatar

Like thrice a week–no kidding. I know it’s such a bad habit and it should only take 5 minutes to remove it, but damn, sometimes even that little effort is a pain. Most of the time I tell myself that I’m just taking a 15 minute nap, which unfortunately and ultimately ends up with me passing out til 2 a.m waking up with a horrendously dry and yucky face. O-wee, I definitely need recommendations on a good face wipe!

Ashley Avatar

Unfortunately more than once! But I’ve learned my lesson because I always wake up with a few pimples if I do! So that’s encouraged me to take it off for sure

Jennifer Avatar

Oh my gosh, yes! And I always feel totally gross the next morning. It happens rarely, but if I’m exhausted, I cant even change into pajamas, much less remove makeup. I also put an old t-shirt on my pillow so as not to stain the pillow cases. The next morning I cleanse twice, exfoliate and tone!!! Not to mention a heap of moisturizer to top it off!

MichelleNW Avatar

I have, I try not to, it doesn’t happen that often usually when I have heavy party nights. And for the most part when I know that’s going to happen I keep make up wipes next to my bed for when I get home!!

angelicaflora Avatar

I am a full time mother that works full time, and goes to school full time. So, my answer is yes, of course i have fallen asleep numerous times with my makeup on. I dont prefer to because i always get a pimple on my face the next morning. But gee, i be so tired sometimes that i just collapse on my bed when i get home..

Randi Avatar

I used to on occasion, but now I almost never do. If I can’t be bothered to do my whole night time routine, I’ll at least use cleansing wipes to clean my skin.

Kay Avatar

Ashamed to say i’ve slept with my makeup on quite a few times.. :/ you know what its like after those drunken nights out, all you want is a subway and bed!

Molly Avatar

I know it’s awful to do! But I’ve slept in my makeup multiple times if I am staying over my boyfriends or friends house unexpectedly, or simply just fell asleep before taking it off. 🙁

Luckily I am blessed with clear skin that rarely breaks out, but it still is awful; especially when you have a bunch of mascara and concealer/blush/bronzer. lol.

Erica Avatar

I have! I went out for the whole night and was SO tired when I got home. Well by then my makeup pretty much all melted so I felt without removing it intentionally wouldn’t make any difference!

Michelle Avatar

I sleep in makeup every so often (maybe once or twice a week if averaged out). It’s quite a counterproductive habit, since my foundation sinks into my pores and breaks me out by morning. It’s sad for at least two reasons; it takes little effort to use a makeup wipe if nothing else, and my skin would be much healthier if I took my makeup off every night. I hate being lazy 🙁

Rosanna Avatar

For the most part, I remove all my makeup when I get home from school/going out. But yes, I’ve slept with it once or twice which I totally regretted when I woke up – fortunately it didn’t break me out though!

Mandy Avatar

I do sometimes, now that I swear mineral foundation and I’m not in such a hurry to wash my face when I get home. I just totally forget sometimes. Or I’ll take my eye makeup off and just put washing my whole face off until later. I should really stop!

Arantzazu Avatar

I’d be lying if I say no… But it was many years ago! Hehehe
As Christine said, only when I take a nap. But never at night or knowing I’m not going out =)

Hannah Avatar

I accidentally did that the other night! I usually take it off when I get home but it was a sat so my schedule was off. I had a 14 hour nap! It’s mineral make up though so it’s not too bad?

Miss Silver Avatar

No. If I have to wait for a few minutes for the hot water to come on the tap, I will wait, even if I’m dead tired. I will wash my face clean with my face wash, and remove any eye make up with eye make up remover because I get sties easily. Also, I do not want to break out in spots. So the wait is definitely worth it.

kasiaj85 Avatar

never!
I can get drunk, that happens, I can be tired as hell, that happens a lot more often, but I never sleep in my makeup! (when I’m drunk I may not even remember how I removed it, but I always do, isn’t that funny…;) )

Christine Avatar

I agree with Christine. I have laid down to rest briefly and ended up falling asleep for a short time. Aside from that I’m quite dilligent about removing my makeup every evening. I would never go to bed wearing makeup.

Anna Avatar

Unfortunately I have fallen asleep with make-up on. Its awful.. you wake up and all the mascara has smudged of 🙂
I dont think Ive done it more than maybe twice 🙂

Ellie Avatar

I’ve fallen asleep in makeup before (not on purpose), but end up waking up feeling like I have a filmy mess on my face and all over my pillowcases, so try to avoid! 🙂

DonnaN Avatar

Sadly, YES! I can remember in my younger days comining home from a night of clubbing at like 3am and crashing, clothes and all on my bed. Thankfully, I’m my age had made me older and wiser and I make the attempt to at least take a quick swipe with a makeup removing cloth before my head hits the pillow. My partying days may be over, but good skin stays around for a while……

Kenneth Alan Avatar

Every once in a while I’ll get lazy and just go to sleep in my makeup, but I definitely have unexpected naps all the time with my makeup on. I feel so disgusting when I wake up though.

Vanessa Avatar

When i was younger i was notorious for sleeping with my makeup on especially after a long night of being out dancing etc. but not anymore. It really messes up my face so i have my little makeup remover towels handy at all times.

Taj Avatar

I usually take off my makeup as soon as I get home. On very rare occasion when I get too tired to pull myself together to cleanse my face that I wear my makeup to sleep.

Amy P Avatar

*hangs head* Yes…many times! Typically this is when I’m not wearing any base/foundation and just forget that I have it on. And let’s be honest, sometimes it’s just late, and I don’t care!

Katie Avatar

Ugh, I did it the past two nights because I stayed up way too late and I told myself, “I’ll just lay down for a few minutes…” It feels disgusting to wake up the next morning realizing you forgot to wash it off. 🙁

Maggie Makeup Addict Avatar

More times than I’d like to admit. But yes, at least once I week I sleep with my makeup on. When I work 14 hours I really don’t have the energy to do anything but crash in bed when I get home :S
I wish I did take care of my skin, but I’e slacked off a lot since my skin is SO much better just by moving away from hot and humid Shanghai…

LiAnn - Sparklecrack Central Avatar

Yes…sort of. That’s how I test “waterproof” mascaras, by wearing them overnight and seeing how much they smudge. If I don’t wear waterproof mascara, I get “racoon eyes”, and not all waterproof mascaras are created equal – so a bit of pre-testing is in order. Sleeping in mascara occasionally (1 night every 2 or 3 years?) means planning and putting a towel down over the pillowcase, and means that I’ll end up with some smudging the next morning; but it’s the best way I know of to test how a given waterproof mascara performs on me (without risking smudges during the day, as I go about my life.)

Other than that, I will remove my makeup after dinner, because unless I’ve got plans, I don’t often just suddenly decide to go out and do something once I’ve had dinner. That’s not the end of my day, but it’s definitely the start of my cocooning for the evening 😀

Regina Avatar

Although it is my golden rule not to sleep with my makeup on… I have and more than once. It rarely happens but when it does, it’s usually during midterms or finals. It’s not an excuse I know but… some times I’m just to tired.

isla Avatar

this is one of my worst/best pet peeves…i simply never go to sleep in my make-up as i feel my face is extremely dirty and covered up…no matter how drunk or tired i am,i always ALWAYS take my make-up off

leesie Avatar

I actually usually shower before bed, and sometimes (more often than I should) I don’t bother actually taking makeup remover to my eyes.
I just slept in my makeup last night. I’d gone to the wedding and reception of two of my coworkers with a couple other coworkers, and I wound up crashing at one of said coworker’s homes.

Val Avatar

Unfortunately yes. I didn’t do it on purpose, only when I really tired from work and accidentally fell asleep on my sofa (I have a heavenly comfortable sofa, everyone sits their and fell asleep…crazy).

Azaza Avatar

Yup there are times when I get home from work and I just fall asleep but I do wake up a few hours later. Ever since that happened I know now to take off my make up as soon as I get home so if I do fall asleep unexpectedly it wont be a problem anymore

Mary Avatar

I feel so guilty after falling asleep with my make-up on! I even remind my husband to wake me up (esp. on those over-the-top days) if I fall asleep. Although, I have gotten into the habit of washing my face before looking at my openly inviting bed.

Teresa N Avatar

Ohhhh yeahhh. Not anymore though for the past 3 months since I started breaking out plus I’ve just include an anti-aging night cream into my night regimen. I still take a 1-2 hour nap once or twice in the past few months with my makeup on but no more overnights.

Nic Avatar

Yes, but I almost never do. I might take a nap with makeup on, but I never go to bed for the night wearing makeup. No matter how tired I am, I always remove my makeup because if you don’t it feels absolutely gross when you wake up. Plus it’s bad for your skin.

Scarlett Avatar

I’m sure I have done it at some point, but whenever it was, it was so long ago I can’t remember it. I can’t go to bed without a shower, so that sort of prevents the temptation.

Jaime Avatar

Maybe once or twice a month, I’m way too zonked to remove my makeup or wash my face before I stumble into bed. On those occasions, I usually wake up with crease-face and dried mascara sticking my eyelashes together. Highly attractive!

When that happens, I immediately apply LUSH Babyface cocoa-butter based cleanser all over dry skin, and then add Ocean Salt scrub on top. I massage everything in, and then rinse it away.

My face comes out completely clean, soft and radiant! If I’m feeling really ambitious after that, I’ll apply a soothing face mask on top to sit for ten minutes before I jump into the shower.

Ann Avatar

I’ve only taken naps in my makeup, but i never sleep overnight with it on. I feel rejuvenated after washing my face. It feels nice not to have that oily and aware of makeup feeling.

jennylevi Avatar

yes when am very lazy and dont feel like getting up when am already in bed i do it occasionally like twice a month or so but its not habit am pretty good with my face routine =D

Anastasia-Evangaline Avatar

from the ages of fifteen to seventeen there was nothing worse that i could think of than getting home after an underage club or a late night with my friends and washing my face to get rid of my makeup. safe to say i woke up with eyelashes stiffened in every direction, eyeliner on my chin and one side of my face almost perfect enough to wear out the next day but from the first day that i bought makeup remover wipes, i will never ever ever ever ever sleep in my makeup again. its just too easy to remove the makeup. ill usually use those, then wash my face but i know that if i just cant be stuffed scrubbing my skin, at least theres no makeup and i can just exfoliate and cleanse twice the next day.

Maja Avatar

I have done, and sometimes do. I hate doing it because I know it’s bad for my skin and I hate the feel it gives. It makes my night of sleep a bit worse, to be honest. But I get hypersomnia and insomnia, and so when the hypersomnia takes me I tend to be out like a light. I don’t really wear makeup during the week because I have a tendency to fall asleep a lot (naps or otherwise).

Leann Avatar

I know its bad, but I sleep with my makeup on all the time. Its me being lazy and forgetting about taking it off. I’m trying to be a lot better about it.

Ursula Avatar

Yes but I try not to do it too often. Sometimes if I do it by mistake I might start letting it go and doing it too often and then I pay for it later. I’ll get clogged pores and itchy skin. So I try to be very good with washing up.
