Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Although I never had a huge collection of makeup products, I did felt overwhelmed when I owned multiple products of one type. The decision what to wear, the idea that a lot of product was going off… then 4-5 years ago I decided to only open one item of a type at a time and I never felt more relief. I love each item I own, I feel oddly more creative and the process of choosing a new addition always sparks my research enjoyment (when it rarely occurs).

All the time! I have too many eyeshadow palettes to use, realistically. I have decluttered some, but the rest are all favorites, so I am keeping them and just living with the fact I’ll never hit pan on any of them. At the same time as they are overwhelming they also bring me a lot of joy!

Definitely! I was looking for a particular lipstick last night and was having to go through boxes of lipsticks that I had just put into a box when I did my declutter, planning to organize them and put them back into the storage caddy that I usually keep them in. I never found the lipstick and I know I didn’t declutter it. I just mentioned it here on the blog, recently. It is the Rouge Bunny Rouge shade, “Perfume of His Gaze” and I would never have parted with it. So, if I don’t find it soon, I will see if I can pick it up. I hope it is still available. I am trying to decide how I want to organize my lipsticks and when you have so many, you likely will not find a perfect solution that works every time. Prior to my declutter, I organized by brand and then by color within the brand but when you are looking for a pink lipstick and you don’t have a particular shade in mind, it is frustrating trying to find the pinks. So, I have thought about organizing by shade but I can see problems with that also. Consequently, they haven’t been organized yet! Back to the question, though. I sometimes feel like picking one shade from each color story and getting rid of all the rest and making do with just those shades. Being a makeup lover makes that choice just an excuse to buy more. I don’t get panicky when I see my collection but it can be overwhelming.

Yes, I’m feeling totally overwhelmed by the amount of bronzers I have. It’s become a chore deciding. I need to declutter, like most things I have to be in the mood

Oh every morning, when I go to pick out a lipstick. As in, go to my guest room, the overflow for cosmetics that won’t fit in our one shared bathroom:;

Every now and again I do – but then I declutter the ones that are getting too old (except for Naked 1) and now my stash is far more manageable – both in terms of lipsticks (a major weakness) and eyeshadow palettes. Luckily for me, in a way, very few eye palettes have caught my attention this year and so far, I haven’t bought any.
