Has your makeup routine changed over time?
Has your makeup routine changed over time? If so, how?
I find I wear less makeup when I’m home or just running errands than I did a few years ago, and I also take better care of my skin (despite my skin not loving me much for it).
Thanks to Soly for today’s question! Got a question idea? Submit yours here.
Oh yes. I think I am more interrested by make up then when I was younger. I’m 56 years old and I take it like a joke. But not every day, hum…
Completely! This time last year, I washed my face only once a day, moisturized and wore mascara and maybe this one purple e/s. Now, everything has changed!
Well I’ve definitely gotten better and more efficient at it. I’m also lazier and tend to cut more corners, it takes a special occasion to get me to do my full routine, I don’t even bother with mascara anymore and I haven’t worn eyeshadow in like 3 weeks. I do more natural and basic looks primarily. I remember being a lot more excited about makeup before, not to mention spending forever on it! I also take better care of my skin now as part of the whole process as well.
I definitely take better care of my skin, do more complicated eye makeup, use more than just black eyeliner, define my eyebrows, make blush a priority, and some other things. These are all changes
I’ve made since I began reading your awesome site!
Hey Christine,
I know this has nothing to do with this post but the Sephora F&F Sale has started.. or at least the code works. I commented about this in your previous post but hopefully it gets out to people!! I just tried it a few minutes ago and it’s good to go.
Yes! I wear less makeup but better brands. And I take much more care of my skin!!
Not too terribly much. I had added a thing or two, or found a better method for something, but I pretty much use the same products the same way. I agree, I have changed my skin care routine but my efforts seem wasted as my skin seems to be hating me right now.
I actually wear a lot more make up now than I used to, primers, foundation, blush, more than 2 eyeshadows in a look, etc. I also make sure I remove my make up and clean my face properly every night, use serums, face creams and lip+eye cream, masks, scrubs, etc.
Mine has really changed. A year and a half ago I was always full face makeup, at least 5 days a week. Now I’m naked faced all the time. I wear full face makeup maybe 5 times a month! I don’t even buy makeup anymore.
I’ve warmed up to wearing lipgloss. I couldn’t stand it before but I’ve seen the light and I am now converted (with too many to ever finish). I also use makeup brushes more. Before I had one eyeshadow brush for e/s application. Now it seems I have a brush for every groove and slope in my face. And I always try to give my face at least one day a week of absolutely no makeup, even if I have to go out. It give my skin a chance to breathe.
Yes, I have worn less make up over the last few months. I would always take the time to apply foundation, do my eyes, everything.
I stopped doing so over the summer. I wear tinted moisterizer if I need coverage. I recently became obessed with blush, so I put on blush, mascara, and gloss. I’m definitly letting my skin breathe.
I wear more makeup now than i did when i was 17-22… I also take a lot better care of my face. I’ve developed a routine i guess becuase i took a skin care class.
Yes, mine has definitely changed. I went from wearing none, to a lot, but I believe I’ve now found a happy medium for the day-to-day stuff.
I do need to start taking care of my skin more though!
Yes, definitely! I have taken better care of my skin and I love the way my skin looks now. Also, I have ditched eyeliner completely because I think I actually look better without it! Plus, I don`t have time. I don`t wear foundation but I wear concealer for under eyes, and sometimes I can leave this step out too =D.
Well, I’ve started to wear an eyeshadow base/primer which I like because it makes the colors more vivid and tends to keep the colors from migrating. I’ve used face primers for special occasions. I don’t do as many fun looks anymore, because I work and I’m not in college anymore. But, despite all of that, I’ve definitely become more obsessed with it. I’m starting to get into a phase where I’m going to be more picky about my choices for collections, just because I have a ton of makeup that I don’t wear as much as I would like!
Mine has changed a lot over time, but most especially within the last two years. I used to wear nothing. Then I discovered mineral foundation and everything changed. Then I started adding eyeshadows…then gloss…and only recently got into blush.
Definitely. Compared to all the years, I’m finding that I’m wearing more makeup now than ever. It’s an irrational addiction, I tell you. I have clear skin, but why do I feel the need to wear foundation when I’m at home?! Ridic!
It has – I used to have to do full makeup before I left my house, but now I just cover up my worst stuff and fill in my brows before I run out the door to university.
my skin has got worse as I grow older…I use more makeup now than I ever did when I was young. Overall, I think it is more attractive but the skin tone is still so off………………….
I find myself using more make-up and experimenting more, also because I’m still building a collection and because I think that once I start working I won’t be able to use make-up so freely. (I’m still a student and once I finished I will most likely work in an enviroment that is more conservative).
Now that I finally have my skin really under control and know what works, I am very into my skincare routine. I also started to take more risks, like bright liner, or tangerine lipstick.
Yes. I have become more experimental the older I have become. I do lots of wilder colors.
I’ve started wearing less makeup and taking better care of my skin. I cleanse and moisturize twice a day and I take my makeup off before going to bed… I used to be pretty lazy when it comes to cleansing.
And instead of just throwing all my makeup on, I look at what I need.
I have foundation-less days when I just wear a little concealer and powder and I don’t heavily line my eyes every day.
I became less high maintanance 😉
They eyeshadows I wear on a daily basis have gotten more and more neutral (though I still pull out the funky shades for special occasions) as I get older, and I’ve also transitioned from lipgloss to lipstick. Finally, I moisturize and wear concealer and foundation now, which I never had to do in high school and college. I almost never use pressed powder anymore, and that used to be my go-to product! My skin is just too dry now to need it.
Mine has. I never used primer and found my makeup used to disappear quickly. I also used to just use a wash of eyeshdaow over my lids.
Now i will use more colours. My eye lining skills still arent briliant though.
Of course! I used to hate all related things with make up and skin care… now I love it 🙂
In the last year or so, My makeup routine has changed DRASTICALLY. I started watching youtube stars like xsparkage, petrilude, etc etc… and found myself focusing on my skin more. Before that, I thought eyeshadow was meant to crease (haha). I have definitely increased my range of products and have also started using LOTS of bright, crazy colors. I am 22 and only wish I could go back to my high school years to sport these amazing looks I wear now!
I’m gradually getting into it. I really only go for simple makeup looks and use it as a light enhancement but it wasn’t long ago I didn’t used to wear any makeup out at all except on special occasions. I do like eyeliner and mascara, though, and wear them almost every time I go out now.
