Half Magic Cheek Fluff + Eyeshadow Swatches

Half Magic is a brand that just became available at Ulta, and I’ve heard good things about the brand and its quality since it debuted a year or two ago. I didn’t pick up everything from the range, but I did purchase the cream blushes, one glitter (sparkle) highlighter, and the shimmery eyeshadows that were in stock. Have you tried this brand before?

Yes I have the glitter puck which I absolutely LOVE, and I have the two duochrome highlighters as well as a blush. I love every product I’ve purchased.
I have wanted to try this brand since I saw the “wing magician” last year, but I didn’t do so until they came to Ulta! I snagged that plus the eyeliner. Wearing the eyeliner right now, and so far, so good.
They seem to swatch nicely. The colors are nothing new but given that the packaging is that bright neon green, you won’t have to worry about losing them in your makeup stash! Sexual Flushtration is a nice shade and very pigmented. I also like Only Drama but it comes off different on your face than in your swatch. I would have to use a super light hand to make it wearable for me.
I knew from Lauren Mae Beauty that I really liked this brands shades, although the packaging will not last as long as the product within. Love “Only Drama blush, Elvin Things, Lil Deranged and Wet Pebble eyeshadows all very much!
Hearing they have a duochrome highlighter intrigues me, but nothing other than the studs really stood out to me from launch.
The packaging reminds me of takeout 😶
I quite like the single eyeshadows: especially Wet Pebble and Lil Deranged. It’s always nice to see a new brand do well.
There’s been a lot of hype for this brand, since it was created by the head makeup artist for the show “Euphoria” (Who’s been accused in the past if stealing other makeup focused content creator’s ideas, and then trying to pass them off as her own….but that’s a story for another day).
The products definitely piqued my interest, and I like their focus on sustainability, but I don’t see myself purchasing anything from them anytime soon, unless it was for my teenage nieces. I’ll be 50 in a few weeks, and while I wholeheartedly believe that a person should wear whatever makeup they want, regardless of their age, for me personally, the colors are a little too “rave club kid”. I haven’t rocked those looks for over 20 years, and the only way I’m interested in revisiting them now is through old photos, lol.
Having said that, this does look like a fun line, and I love seeing people experiment and have fun with makeup!
The swatches of Sexual Flustration (actually, an amusing take on the whole “sexual names for makeup products” trend), Lil Deranged and Wet Pebble look really good (Elvin Things looks nice in the pan but not as great swatched). How I wish ULTA was in Canada. Pre-Pandemic, there was talk of stores opening here but nothing on the horizon, alas!
I’ve heard really good things about this brand as well (and since the creator is the Euphoria head makeup artist you know they know good makeup). I think I have plenty of most of these shades, but I do like the looks of Pretty Robot which would be a bit more unique to what I have. I need to try this brand.
I haven’t tried them yet, but I’ve heard good things. I’m glad you will be trying them out.
