As a result, these brushes are soft as cashmere, yet deposit more product onto the face due to less absorption and are more hygienic than natural hair. The result of the first ever collaboration between a beauty company and highly-skilled traditional Hakuho-do craftsmen, these brushes benefit from the expertise of the Sephora Pro team and are handmade in Japan using a traditional, 200-year-old manufacturing technique. This ensures the highest quality design, materials, and assembly for astounding results.

Hi Mariella, I’m looking for a synthetic flat, concealer type of brush to use with some of the more glittery ColourPop eyeshadows I bought recently? And after reading your comment, I figured I’d ask you about one in Sephora’s line.

The Sephora Pro Cream 28 I also have & it works well also but that’s when I dip into hourglass or MJB concealer brushes.. Just LOVE them. 🙂

Hi Lotus! TY for that recommendation!!! I literally just left the North Scottsdale Sephora, but am heading down to the mall with a MAC and a Sephora. If I get there in time, I will pop into that Sephora and get that brush! Finally, no more issues with over-applying my Krinkle or Sugar!!!! YAY!!!

Hmmm, if I bought all 5 of these Hakuhodo brushes, it would be $211, but for $4 more dollars, I could get the Chikuhodo Sakura Brush Set, which has natural hair and a cherry blossom design. I know I’m comparing different brush types, but it seems like the Chikuhodo is a better deal…. but I am curious about these new Hakuhodo brushes

Valerie Avatar

Lol. I think so too. If you don’t object to natural hair, I think Chikuhodo is way better deal. Plus Beautylist has beautiful packaging. 😉 I just got mine yesterday 🙂

I HATE that I am going to have to skip this. Happy that there are more face brushes offered and not as I buy more eye brushes lol!

Yelena Avatar

I’m glad that there is someone else that agrees!
I also find it a little funny that the descriptions are pretty much going: these synthetics are *so* much better than natural hair…. yet the brushes are being made by a company known for the quality of it’s natural hair brushes. I just feel like it’s a bit of a slap in the face but buisness is buisness i guess.

I’ve always wanted to invest in a good set of Japanese brushes and these seem like a good compromise. Although I personally think Sephora brand brushes feel cheap to me. Does anyone have any good recommendations? I’m afraid if I purchase this online I might be disappointed. I do prefer natural haired brushes.

Try Koyudo’s basic C series. I own a few myself. They have natural hair brushes for reasonable prices. A great place to start is Sweet Makeup Temptations or Of Toys and Co.

My opinion of Sephora brand brushes is that they’re pretty mediocre. That pricepoint is just too much of a shock for me. It’s like when you find that one $200 item at H&M or find a $17 entree at Panera bread. It just doesn’t compute.

Valerie Avatar

I love Hakuhodo brushes but I will pass on these due to the price points. They are way too pricey for synthetic bristles. I have couple synthetic brushes from another Japanese maker and they are only about 50-60% of the cost

Sarah Avatar

Ooh, do you mind sharing the japanese synthetic brush maker? I don’t use animal hair brushes and am always looking for great quality synthetic ones. 🙂 Thank you.

I had been wishing for a long time that Hakuhodo would do synthetic bristle brushes as I now only try and buy vegan brushes. I wrote to them a while ago and they kindly responded they were planning to test out synthetic brushes. I guess I got my wish. I ordered the fan cheek brush to start.

Lotus Avatar

I’m looking forward to receiving these! 🙂 I had to order them all as soon as I saw them when I was browsing and they weren’t necessarily listed! Synthetic Hakuhodo? HELL YEAH! I can’t wait to play! 🙂

I kind of feel like Sephora dropped the ball on this one. There was A LOT of hype in anticipation of the Sakura collection from Chikuhodo x Beautylish, granted they look a lot more expensive and luxurious with the cherry blossom design.

I dont see any images from Sephora, but I know that these do come individually boxed in beautiful red boxes. Maybe I’m jumping the gun and we’ll see an email about it tomorrow, but it seems like just another new product release, which is kind of a bummer.

If I had the cash, of course I would own both as I’m a huge sucked for packaging. Too bad no one has seen it though! A quick Google search will bring it up if you’re interested.
