Guerlain Ombre Fusion Cream Eyeshadows Review, Photos, Swatches
Guerlain Ombre Fusion Cream Eyeshadow: Bahia, Havana, Maya
Guerlain Terra Inca Collection: Ombre Fusions
Guerlain Ombre Fusion Cream Eyeshadows ($35.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) are new for summer and come in three varieties. Guerlain claims they are heat and water-resistant that “will last from dawn to dusk.” Each shadow is housed in a square glass tube with a metal cap–the packaging is very reminiscent of lipgloss, even down to the doe-footed applicator. The packaging is a good mix of functionality and aesthetic appeal, but the glass makes these less portable.
- Bahia is a soft pinked peach with very fine gold micro-shimmer. This is definitely wear-and-go kind of shade; perfect as a brightening wash of color on the lid.
- Havana is a chocolatey khaki brown with olive green and gold micro-shimmer. Of the three, this is the most unique, as the color shifts from chocolate bronze to olive to khaki.
- Maya is a medium-dark bronzy brown with red undertone and gold and copper micro-shimmer.
Depending on how much product you apply, you can get a sheerer layer of color or something richer and more opaque. Guerlain mentions an “illuminated effect” and “shimmering reflections.” I swatched both heavily and very lightly to show how sheer it could be blended out, if desired. It’s really all in the application of the user–a little goes a long way. Bahia was the one shade that I found took real layering to achieve a more opaque look, so I would describe Bahia as semi-sheer to semi-opaque, while the others are semi-opaque to opaque–all depending on how much product you choose to apply. They’ll go on more opaque generally, just because so little is required for a sheer effect that you have to be deliberate about how little you use.
The texture of these is a very thin cream; I would consider them more liquid than cream, because they have the feel and spread of a thicker liquid. It enables these to blend effortlessly onto the lid, whether you use a brush or fingertip, but they act far more like a cream eyeshadow from there on. These dry down at just the right pace; not so quick that you rush to get it in place or so slow that it builds into creases. Once it set, it stayed on for twelve hours with no creasing, fading, or smudging. I took a hot shower while wearing Havana on the lid to no noticeable decrease in wear–it didn’t crease, and it didn’t disappear. I just patted my face dry with a towel, and it looked the same pre- and post-shower.

How come there are no swatches?
There are!
The glass packaging seems really luxe but it seems kind of impractical for a klutz like me. I like the colors, but they sheer out too much for my taste.
So it stayed on even after a hot shower? Wow, that is impressive!
Hmmm, I don’t know. The swatches look splotchy to me. The pinky one looks the best, in my opinion. Love the packaging and how they look in the tubes though.
The texture kinda looks like the one of the big bounce eyeshadows, are these basically what the big bounce eyeshadows tried to be?
The texture is completely different, IMO.
I’ve got all three of these and I truly love them. They are actually the only pick I got from Guerlain this summer. These are really easy to work with, especially 01 Bahia which I apply as a base shade almost every single day since I got it.
01 Bahia + Armani Eyes to Kill no.4 are really an amazing couple!
I find that almost all cream-type shadows irritate my eyes, but I’m really tempted by these. The colours are lovely and wearable in pretty much any situation…
Hi Christine,
Can you think of any dupes for Bahia? Strikes me that it’s pretty easy to find cool pinks, but warmer pinks that are still sheer are tough to find in cream shadows. Since I’m a pale girl with warmer skin, Bahia would be the perfect summer shadow for me–but if I can find something like it for cheaper, well 🙂 Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hi Christine I don’t know where to post this but the bing video ad that pops up on the mobile site is SO annoying. It covers the whole screen and if you accidentally tap the screen a stupid video starts playing. Anyway I love your site but I hope you can change that ad
I was excited about these when I first read about them (on Temptalia, I’m sure!). But, the payoff just isn’t there. I’d rather take my $35 and get a Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense shadow and a cup of coffee!
These look so lovely, especially Bahia and Maya. I’ll try to get my hands on at least one of them as soon as I see them in Spain!
How does Bahia compare to MAC’s Bare Study? Thanks.
I’ll be getting Maya because I automatically love any product with my name on it!
Christine- you are causing this make-up plebeian to have bourgeois desires! These are so interesting to me and now I am seriously considering the Rouge G on an unemployed salary 😉 thank you for re-introducing me to the pleasures of quality luxury cosmetics. Really you are saving me a ton of money in the long run and raising my satisfaction with my stash! Merci Beaucoups..
Those are so gorgeous! I wasn’t happy with the Chanel ones I tried that are similar to that but I think I might give these a shot. Thanks as always for the beautiful pictures!
Hi PerilouslyPale,
Usually we meet up on BTiB! Anyway, these are not like the Chanel Ombre D’Eau. They aren’t watery and you don’t have to shake them up to distribute the pigments evenly. They’re definitely a fluid cream in texture. I apply mine to my lid with the Bobby Brown cream eyeshadow brush. When I want to use Havana or Maya as a liner, I use the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner brush. These can be as opaque or as sheer as you want. Actually, I’m hoping that the new Ombre D’Eau Chanel will be releasing on July is more like the Guerlain.
I like the chanel ones but the quality is deft not all there. There are new ones coming in july?
Maya looks gorgeous for a wash of color. I’m really liking the packaging of these too, but they’re a little on the pricey side for me.
Those colors look gorgeous and so summery!
I have both the Bahia and Maya and they are absolutely gorgeous! The pics don’t do them justice. Not that your pics are bad, it’s just hard to pic up the fine micro glitter. I blend them out and wear as a wash of color.
Somehow I’m really curious to try Bahla as a blush. Weird 😀
is it me or do they look like lipgloss? haha
I Love all the colors. The packaging is interesting though. I wouldnt have expected cream eyeshadows in that kind of lipgloss like packaging..Is the applicator easier to use than cream eyeshadows in tub form?
I thought it was lipgloss. 😮
Bahia is so pretty! looks like it could double as a blush too
Beautiful shades – won’t do the price point this company charges.
They don’t look like they apply evenly do they?
Gosh these are so pretty, im so glad they have a great wear time kinda makes the price justifiable in my opinion 🙂 x
