Do you have a go-to nail polish?
Do you have a go-to nail polish? For fingers and/or toes? Share!
The closest I have to a go-to would be Illamasqua’s Raindrops but even that I can’t say I wear that often (usually testing something else!).
Thanks to Nicole for today’s question! Do you have a question idea? Submit yours here.
Everyone’s go-to for fall should be Essie’s BAHAMA MAMA.
i just looked this up and now i NEED this polish!
OPI’s Mod About You, forever and always.
Revlon in Revlon Red, and OPI Mod About You.
Depends on the occasion – at Xmas my holy grail was Essie Ruby Slippers but they just HAD to discontinue it!! Haven’t found one as glittery since! In the summer I go BRIGHT with neons. MAC Steamy (bright but not a neon) was my go-to for many summers!
Right now, it is, hands down, Wet n Wild’s Buffy the Violet Slayer. It is the most incredible purple. Of all my high end, low end, and in-betweener polishes, it’s my go-to color. It’s been my favorite for two years running. Zoya’s Channing is an up-and-comer that could roust it from it’s favored spot for autumn, though.
I love that one too!!! It is one of the few polishes I have a back-up bottle of 🙂
Chanel Quartz – it last a loooooong time with no chipping on me, it’s easy to apply and it’s unbelievably pretty.
For my toes I would pick Topless & Barefoot (Essie) or Mod About You (OPI). My fingers would be Macks (Essie) because it’s the perfect shade of red that can be worn all year long.
Used to be one Graus from Maybelline Coloroma but I usually like to play with shades.. so a new nail paint everytime.. but loving my Sally Hansen Rockstar pink nail paint 🙂 🙂
Butter London Wallis, Illamasqua Nomad or I layer Zoya Miley and Dharma. If I don’t feel a pull toward any of my other polish at the time, I’ll almost always fall back to those.
any pixie dust for me.. really any textured ones but pixie dusts are my favorites. especially the new fall colors!!! i just love that i don’t need a basecoat or topcoat and mistakes can be fixed easily. and i always get compliments on them!
OPI “Wooden Shoe Like to Know” and Wet n Wild “Haze of Love.” I can never go wrong with these, but they just so happen to also be PERFECT for autumn!
Right now, I’m loving Rebel Fox and The 444 from butter London, Isherwood and Black Metal Dahlia from OCC, and the new Urban Decay polishes. I haven’t found my prefect pink polish yet. 🙁
I had no idea so I checked and bottles speak for themselves:
-Sally Hansen In a Flurry
-Sally Hansen Blue Frosting
-Revlon Bubblegum
🙂
Not a specific polish, but some variation on nude + subtle sparkle is my go-to look, because it looks “polished” without drawing too much attention to my often stubby nails. OPI Not Tonight Honey with a little Sidecar from the UD Naked polish collection is a great example. But I’ve been more into my nails recently and it is almost summer here, so I’ve been rocking brights the past few weeks.
Jordana Pink Lemonade on toes and LA Girl Antique on fingers!
My work requires me to have relatively natural-coloured polish so my go-tos are usually ORLY Sheer Nude, Pink Slip, Gilded Coral, and Bare Rose.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve hemmed and hawed over what to wear on my nails and I’ve just gone “F it, I’m gonna put on Butter London Knackered again.” It’s pretty much as many of my favorite things in nail polish that can possible be shoved into one bottle.
The color it displaced, which I still love a lot, is Zoya Zara.
I love knackered! And I love layering it over other polishes. If I’m sick of my manicure, but don’t really have time to change it, I just put a layer of knackered over it. I haven’t found a polish that it really looks bad over.
Zoya Sooki – love the color and the name 🙂
Boots 17 Raspberry Mocha, though I don’t have too many nail paints, about a dozen, perhaps.
Essie’s Maximilian Strasse-Her – muted yet interesting colour (and I love all greens) and I find the application pretty impossible to mess up.
essie licorice and sally hansen complete salon manicure gilty party
Love Gilty Party
Chanel Rose Cache. Problem-free.
When in doubt Essie Footloose! Not sure if its discontinued but its an amazing color!
No, I have such a huge nail polish collection that I like to wear something I’ve never worn before most of the time. I have a few that I keep coming back to, though. I wear OPI Diva of Geneva a lot during fall and winter, it’s a great medium-dark purply wine with golden shimmer.
I love reds, so my go-to is my favorite red of all time, Elevation Polish Matsuda.
Right now I love Zoya’s Pixie Dust collection
Probably OPI Malaga Wine or St. Petersburgundy. I have a marked preference for those classic, “ladylike” red shades.
Spring/Summer: Essie Tart Deco
Fall/Winter: Zoya Sailor
These are both awesome colors!
Essie Eternal Optimist, OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, China Glaze Dress Me Up, Chanel Paparazzi. Basically I have a very specific type when it comes to nail varnish!
My favorite fingernail polish is still Deborah Lippmann Dark Side of the Moon. That said, I have a lot of nailpolish and rotate frequently. I have been really liking Chanel Lilis too.
I don’t have a specific shade, but for autumn & winter my go-to polish would be anything red. In the spring & summer it would be anything pink or green. But for my toes, my go-to is always Essie Butler Please.
OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark. Spring, summer, winter, fall. I will wear it whenever. I swear I’m probably going to get married wearing this nail polish. I just love super dark polishes!
essie mademoiselle – nude
chanel rouge noir – dark
chanel pirate – red
essie a list -red
these are the ones that I keep repurchasing, even if I have 100+ nail polishes, I use these up, these are HGs, and to-go ones:)
Zoya ‘Colbie’ is my ‘power’ nail polish, and a Caroline New York light grey nail polish for field work days (which I need to find a dupe soon as I am running low).
For a any time of the year polish it would be Orly Rage.
I’d say my go-to’s for office-friendly and ease of use are:
Chanel Frenzy
Marc Jacobs Baby Jane
Cult Nails – Lets Get Dirty
Chanel Pirate
The list could go on LOL.
OPI Bubble Bath!
One of my Chanel polishes. I am cheating, since I *only* have Chanel polishes. But I rotate them very regularly, so no single one is go-to.
I’m tempted to say any of the OPI NYC Ballet 2011 polishes, because those are my most used, but I think I found a new go-to polish just recently (it’s on my nails now!). It is Revlon Colorstay Stormy Night. It goes with everything for fall and compliments my pale/pink skin tone.
My aunt bought me a kit of ELF nail polish for Christmas last year and I fell in love with a shade called Cherry Bomb. The bottle is tiny, so I’ve been on the hunt for a dupe ever since. When I find it, that shade will be my go-to forever and always.
I love this color (got the same set last year) and while it’s not exactly a cheap option, Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies is a dead ringer for it.
I keep finding myself going back to Illamasqua Scarab, even though I prefer Zoya’s longer lasting formula. I just love the toned down, deep red metallic color, especially for fall and it goes well with my wardrobe.
On my hands it definitely Chanel Frenzy – it just looks chic and polished anytime of year. In the summer my go to on my toes is Butter London Primrose Hill Picnic, in the winter I don’t usually paint them.
On toes M.A.C Carine Roitfeld Underfire Red or Essie Skirting the Issue ( and also Dior Marilyn )
OPI Malaga Wine… but only in my dreams! My nails break easily so I usually end up having to keep them short, and I don’t like dark polish on my short nail beds 🙁 but if I could keep my nails long, this polish is all I’d ever use.
Cult Nails Disciplined and Cult nails Untamed, they’re both so perfect.
I thought you were going to say China Glaze For Audrey for your toes 🙂
It has been SOOOO long since I’ve worn it, though it is still lovely. I’ve just totally forgotten about it, LOL!
Yves Saint Laurent’s Rose Romantique (25) is my go-to nail polish. It’s incredibly subtle, so it might not be worth the money for some people. However, it glides on so well and eaves you with a streak free and high gloss finish. I highly recommend you go try it out, if you can. It’s a perfect “work” color. 🙂
I am currently *obsessed* Illamasqua’s Cameo and I’ve been wearing it as often as possible recently but normally I tend to gravitate towards oxbloods for regular wear.
China Glaze “Smoke and Ashes”. Also the only thing besides base and topcoats I have more than one of.
I have close to 200 bottles of nail polish. Almost all of them are OPI but I have a few essie. Whenever OPI releases a new collection, I buy most of them, so I really don’t have a go to color. With that being said, a few of my favorites, all being OPI, are Unripened, Midnight in Moscow, Crown Me Already, Suzi Ski’s in the Pyrenees, Eurso Euro, Fly, and DS Magic. .
Chanel Black Pearl. Even if I haven’t slept, that, a little black dress, winged liner and a red lip can make me look polished.
That is a surprising response Christine. I would’ve thought you’d pick something coral or gold. 🙂 I love fuschia polishes myself. Right now I’m loving China Glaze Purple Panic.
I’ve worn OPI’s La Paz-itively Hot on my nails for years and it’s become my trademark color. I think it’s the perfect hot pink with just enough blue. I don’t even really see it as a color anymore, it feels like a natural part of my nails.
My go-to is Cult Nails Nevermore. I wear that more than any other polish I own. I’m on like my 3rd or 4th bottle. It’s great for layering, it’s a 1 coat perfect black, and it looks good on its own.
I’d say the color I wear the most often is deborah lippman enchanted evening. That or across the universe is a close second favorite.
OPI Red-y for Anything. I only use it on my toes, so I have been through almost two bottles. I haven’t purchased one in ages because I’m rationing it as it’s discontinued (I think). The texture and the color are perfection. I also really like OPI Affair in Red Square. I enjoy trying other polishes. But those two are winners. No doubt about it. Look great on my pale skin.
I LOVE Orly Night Owl…perfect nude taupe with a subtle shimmer.
My favorite color changes on a daily basis, so I don’t have a favorite nail polish shade… I do, however, have a favorite top coat: China Glaze Fairy Dust. Holographic microglitter that makes any color look like sparkly rainbows!
Fuggen Ugly by ManGlaze is my choice whenever I am uninspired or don’t want to think about colour choices or if I do not have a lot of time for my manicure. It is edgy, punkrock, stylish and cool all at the same time and it matches all my clothes. It is the only polish I own with a back up bottle.
It dries superfast too and application is a breeze.
