Go Drugstore for Dry Skin: Aveeno Has Your Fix

Aveeno is one of my favorite drugstore brands, because it is soothing, gentle, and works when it comes to healing and dealing with incredibly dry skin. My sister and I both suffered from ridiculously dry skin as babies, and this is what our dermatologist recommended (in addition to a prescription medicine–yes, it was that bad!). My sister suffers from dry skin even now, while I’ve lucked out with mostly normal skin (though my legs can get scaly). Aveeno is a brand I trust to help me cope with making sure my legs are dragonscale-free so I can show ’em off all summer long without scaring away the children!

This summer, I am really loving their Eczema Care Body Wash & Moisturizing Cream ($9.99 each) (not pictured), because these two products are meant to soothe and help with the most intense skin issues. I use these and my legs feel SO soft and hydrated, even as the day wears on. I actually feel pretty good just using the body wash, surprisingly! If I’m running late, I imagine I could probably skip lotioning up if I had to and be okay. Their Stress Relief Foaming Bath ($5.99) is a soothing bath additive to help you come down from the excitement of the day, and the soft notes of lavender and chamomile, along with ylang-ylang, definitely turn a terrible day into one you can cope with. And you know me, I’m a total lip balm junkie, and we often forget to put SPF on our lips, so here’s Essential Moisture ($3.49) to save the day with SPF 15 in a product that keeps my lips moisturized for hours.

Hi Christine (again)! Like your sister, I also have very dry skin. I also have very sensitive skin, so I tend to stay consistent with my skincare. The Aveeno Stress Reilief Bodywash has been my savior these past years! I love how it’s totally non-drying. Dove is great, too. Sometimes when my skin is being ultra-sensitive, and I don’t have the Aveeno bodywash for sensitive skin, I use Dove instead. I might have to check out the Eczema Relief one you suggested! It sounds divine. Thanks, Christine!

I, like Minty746 have both sensitive and dry skin, and love Aveeno bodywashes. I love their dry skin bar. Also, my daughter and I use the Clear Complexion and Positively Radiant cleansing pads, respectively. Hmmm, what else do we use? Oh yeah, the lotion, from time to time. I also would like to try the moisturizer with SPF. My daughter was given a sample and it worked pretty decently. I have been dragging my feet about it for myself, because it occupies an odd price point for a drug store brand… I just haven’t been able to bring myself to do it, although I’ll spend more for Kiehl’s; go figure :-/. One of these days, I’ll pick it up, though.

I’ve actually bought a whole cleansing system from Aveeno about 2 months ago, and initially i LOVED all the products, especially their mouisturizers but after about 2 weeks of use, i broke out like CRAZY! i had to throw everything away. and it wasnt even regular acne, it was white bumps underneath my skin. i went to a dermatologist and he urged me to switch back to my regular cleansing routine and products.. didnt work for me.

Christine – where did you find the Eczema Care Body Wash & Moisturizing Cream?

I followed an old link to drugstore.com but I guess it’s sold out. I found one on Amazon but it’s $30!!!

The only other ones I found online are on eBay…

I ended up sending an email to Aveeno since I thought it was strange that I couldn’t find this product anywhere despite it being on your blog and a few others.

I thought maybe their PR just sent it to bloggers early (before being released) but I just got a reply from them and it’s already been discontinued! =( I wonder why!

“AVEENO® Eczema Care Moisturizing Cream has been discontinued.”

They didn’t mention anything about the body wash even though I asked about it as well but I’m guessing it was discontinued too.

I really wanted to try this!
