Fyrinnae Hitched Eyeshadow
Fyrinnae Hitched Eyeshadow ($8.25 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “bright, metallic satiny warm red.” It’s a vibrant, medium-dark orange-toned red with a subtle, satiny sheen. I applied it dry and then applied over Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy for comparison. I found it entirely unnecessary to use it over Pixie Epoxy, though, as it looks very much the same either way (but certainly no harm using the base with this). It’s incredibly rich in color with a single pass yielding full, opaque color coverage, but despite this richness, it’s still easy to blend and apply. It doesn’t stick unduly, so I had no trouble blending and softening the edges to meet with other products. This shade did stain when worn without a base, and then mildly over Pixie Epoxy, but I didn’t have any signs of creasing or fading after nearly nine hours of wear (no primer). Illamasqua Daemon is more matte. Sugarpill Love+ is brighter, matte. Make Up For Ever #99 is cooler-toned, matte. Inglot #366 is lighter, matte. See comparison swatches.
Unicorn Eyeshadow ($8.25 for 0.07 oz.) is described as an “iridescent lavender filled with multi-color sparkle.” It’s an icy, cool-toned lavender with an iridescent sheen. I applied it alone (dry), and it had good color payoff, and then applied over Pixie Epoxy, the sheen came out slightly more but the pigmentation was buildable to full opacity. This shade wore well for over eight hours–no creasing or fading–without a base as well as just applied over Pixie Epoxy. Urban Decay Aura #2 is lighter. MAC Amethyst is more sparkly. MAC Ready to the Party is more metallic. OCC Datura is slightly purpler. See comparison swatches.

I did a red look with it earlier this week and I didn’t even need to use Pixie Epoxy to make the red more intense. It’s awesome.

I just talked to Fyrinnae on Sunday night after connecting via Twitter. It sounds like there really shouldn’t be a major or noticeable difference in performance, mostly in how some shades look in the jar, but colors should be the same. Fyrinnae said that all should go “the slightest bit better” but not enough that you would really notice unless you owned the original and the reformulated version.

i love to see you review indie brands! ive been using fyrinnae since 2006 and im a huge fan of them in general but pixie epoxy is probably my favorite product of theirs. so good!

Do you have really yellow undertones? It is a warm-toned red (so it has strong orange undertones), but it was still more red than orange on me. Have you tried wearing it with say, cool-toned shades?
