Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I don’t think there was anything! I feel like I finally got all the various holiday purchases I ordered last week.
Weekend plans: It’s a pretty busy weekend for me! I’m volunteering to do some supplemental feeding to some newborn pups (who have a mama) because there are 14 (!!) mouths for mama to feed, so I’m doing that twice a day for a few days (then we’ll see how it’s going), along with taking the Raccoons in for their first set of vaccines and having them meet Mittens. My parents are coming over on Sunday to play mah jong.
Do you have any big plans for November? Not yet!

Recent Purchases: I finally got my hands on an authentic sealed bottle of Guerlain La Petite Robe Noir Black Perfecto (discontinued) through an eBay seller. Cherry-almond-leather yumminess!
Rediscoveries: Dior 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette in Soft Cashmere
Weekend Plans: Going to an Indian restaurant with friends and a family birthday party. Also plan to watch some scary movies.
Do you have any big plans for November? Not sure yet…
Congratulations on scoring that authentic bottle of Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noir Black – that was a lucky find. Soft Cashmere is a gorgeous quint and was created when Dior was back to its best.
Enjoy the birthday celebrations – I love Indian food myself.
HAUL: I cut back on my Sephora purchases after their site crashed and I was waiting around all day to get my purchase I had time to reanalyze my needs versus my wants and moved quite a bit to my loves list. As far as actual purchases that I have received, none.
Update on some purchases: So, I am loving the foundation combination that I am now using but doubt I will repurchase as it is taking three separate foundations to be perfect!! I am mixing one pump of the Chanel Water Fresh Tint in Light, one pump of the Chanel Les Beiges Water Touch in the shade B10 and about 1/4 pump of Chanel No 1 in B10. It is really lovely and not too much coverage but enough to just even my skin tone a little. I have used the sample sizes of the Rituel de Fille and the Rose Inc and I like both of those also. Shades are just a tinge off but I can make them work. I am going to order the Rituel soon so that I will have it for the winter which I think will work nicely in the bitter cold and chill and then will try the Rose in the Spring. I have new bottles of all the others so that will get me through for awhile.
WEEKEND PLANS: None, we have had snowfall here for a few days although it isn’t sticking but it feels a bit like we went from 65 degrees to 30 degrees overnight so I have not acclimated yet and don’t want to do anything but snuggle under the covers and watch romantic comedies and period pieces. I just finished watching the Dakota Johnson version of Persuasion which I must confess, I liked more than I thought I would. I have watched every possible version of all of the Jane Austen novels and the Bronte sister’s novels. The humor in this version was a nice touch.
November plans: I leave next week for Denver to see Queen and Adam Lambert, followed by a trip to Seattle to stay for Thanksgiving with my daughter. In between, I will finish the things for her Advent Calendar so that I can take it with me. A couple of years ago, I took my original Advent Calendar which was 25 boxes, 2 in x 2 in which I made myself and they were stacked in a round shape to mimic a Christmas tree. I made it and used it for about 15 years. Someone stole my idea and now manufactures them, LOL! Anyway, I made a new one two years ago with larger boxes and a different Christmas paper pattern stack that Aislinn picked out. She and I always have opposite likes in most things! I wouldn’t have chosen the paper pad she did but it turned out nicely and then in the voids between boxes I decorate in either Christmas scenes or with Christmas themed chipboard pieces and drape it with ribbon. The bigger boxes allow me to add more things into the boxes but inevitably there are things that are too big so I decorate a round hat box and mount the box tree on top. So, I always like to get that part done first and the things that are going into the boxes and into the hat box, need to be wrapped. The actual wrapping and putting them in boxes takes longer than the actual shopping and deciding. After Thanksgiving I am flying to Tennessee to see my best friend and her husband. I doubt that I will see them or at least him again has he has just been diagnosed with a treatable cancer but he has other health issues so I want to make the trip now. After that it is preparing for Christmas, starting to price my entire collections of things to sell before moving in the late spring or summer, assuming my house sells.
Best wishes on an enjoyable to trip to see Adam Lambert and Queen, I really hope you enjoy the concert.
That is a mighty fine Advent Calendar you have created there – shame you don’t get the royalties for the one you created and was copied!
Have a great weekend and hopefully it doesn’t get too cold for you.
I am on the road now and just stopped for the night. I am taking the trip in smaller sessions as sitting in the car for over 8 hours a day really gives me back pain. I will arrive in Denver tomorrow and my daughter’s plane gets in at about 3 PM so I must be there before 3. I haven’t flown into or visited Denver in about 35 years so have no idea how much it may have grown. Excited for shopping but mostly for Adam and Queen.
Persuasion is on my to watch list.
I’m a Jane Austen fan, I have read all her books, some of them many times. Some I need to re-read as it was decades since I read them. I still have some of the Bronte sisters books to read.
Your daughter has such a lovely name, it suits her as she is so good looking, yes, I have been on Instagram. 🙂
I look forward to read your next haul. Things being the way they are, I live my makeup life through all here.
I read my favorite Jane Austen books usually at least once a year. So those would be Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice. The others I read every few years. I read Jane Eyre just about every year also. The other Bronte sister’s books I don’t read as often. I wasn’t a huge fan of Wuthering Heights and can’t honestly say that I have enjoyed any of the renditions. There is a lot to work with and I think there is room for a really stellar production of it but in this day and age, doubt it will ever be done.
Thank you. Aislinn’s name is an Anglo-Saxon version of an old Irish name. I read it in a trashy romance novel when I was just out of college, or maybe still in college. I loved it and while I wasn’t planning on having any children, I thought if I ever had a girl I would love to name her Aislinn. Fast forward many years and I am pregnant and my mother was hoping for a girl as she has no grand-daughters. All my siblings had boys. I was 40 when Aislinn was born and her cousins were already in their 20’s so chances of a girl from any siblings at that point was pretty slim. I had an amniocentesis done and found out it was a girl. I had told my husband many years before that if we ever had children and if it was a girl the name was a done deal. We could negotiate over a boys name but a girls name was set. I wanted to name her Aislinn Alissa but in the end we went with Aislinn Lucretia as that is my mom’s name and since she was the only grand-daughter, it seemed fitting. I still really love the name although she comes and goes on her name! Of course when she was little and these things are so important, she could never find souvenirs with her name. I think she really likes the uniqueness of the name now but she still is really upset when people don’t get it right. She doesn’t mind if they don’t know whether to say it phonetically or not but what really bugs her is when she is called Allison and it happens a lot. She is always saying, “Do you see an L right after an A at the beginning of my name!” Poor child, life is so hard for her.
How are you doing. If you are living vicariously through me for your shopping fix, I hope to have something to share with you next week, LOL!!
I’m sorry I’m late to the comments. I hope you enjoyed the concerts! Have a wonderful time visiting your DD for Thanksgiving. Fingers crossed that your house sells.
That is okay Rachel. Just glad to see you here on the blog. You know you are my makeup guru and I have missed seeing you here!
First photo! I wear Tom Ford fragrance and I like it!😂
Haha! So recognizable despite turning all the labels backwards!! But I was like hmm, what’s black and gold and decorative without me buying anything?!
I love this photo!
RECENT PURCHASES:
Revlon ColorStay Satin Ink in Queen of Quartz. A few weeks ago I got The Nightmare Before Christmas and Vampire items from Wicked Sisters Cosmetics.
WEEKEND PLANS: Stitch Circle and errands today. Visiting a pumpkin patch tomorrow.
DO YOU HAVE ANY BIG PLANS FOR NOVEMBER?
Having the kids and their friends over for Thanksgiving. Then hubby and I are going to Seattle for a Depeche Mode concert.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My new Terra Moons and Electrum singles arrived!
Weekend plans: Having major surgery Monday so getting ready for that!
Do you have any big plans for November? Nope.
Now THAT is a cutie pie!!! Almost makes me watch t adopt a Shepard pup!
Sorry, got lost in the pup photo!
Discoveries: a very purchase after a longtime of not purchasing makeup – new products by Prismatic by Saphir (a small “indie” [if you’d like to call it that] company)
– Prismatic TRUESKIN Concealer in “Peachy Keen” and “Beachy Babe”
– A sponge applicator called “Ice” in Hot Pink (it’s been awhile and I figure I could replace one I have).
I’ll let the group know my thoughts, they arrive soon!
Weekend plans: catching up on work! And a little spiritual and mental relaxation! Alone! Yeah!
November plans: I’m thinking about having a family (friends) over for Thanksgiving. it’s been a while since I did and outside invite for this particular holiday (with COVID and all) and it’s not celebrated where I live, but of course I keep it alive for my family.
Man, I’m really going to miss the Racoon pups once fly, and Mittens, too! If my property mgmt would just allow a third furbaby, I would definitely love to have Rascal because she’s so affectionate and clingy. I just adore her!!! 🥰🦝🥹
Purchases/rediscoveries: So far, I have only ordered the Danessa Myricks Lightworks 5 palette. Tried to order a foundation yesterday, but the site totally CRASHED!
Nothing rediscovered this week because I haven’t left the house all 7 days. 🥺
Weekend plans: Going with a close friend to Sally’s on Sunday because I need to get my hair dye. Am trying to get it together to go to WinCo later, but have ZERO energy today. Woke up for my Zoom meeting on time, but felt a level of exhaustion like nothing else and halfway through, I had to go back to bed! Not happy with myself over that.
Any plans for November? Nothing that jumps out at me except for several medical appointments. Dermatologist. Neurologist. Mammogram and diagnostic ultrasound, and something else? Doc suspects MS.
Just FINALLY got through on Sephora to get my foundation! So, since this FF&CI’s is today, I’m including it. Lancome Teint Idole Care & Glow foundation in 310. This after using the sample I got last Friday afternoon, and I really love how it sits on my skin! Plus, despite my thinking that the shade would be too dark for me, as I had told the SA, it’s actually perfect once blended out with my old Sephora Rouge brush. Having already watched reviews on it, everyone made it quite clear that beauty sponges just don’t apply this particular foundation all that nicely and that a brush is the way to go.
Oof, that’s a lot of medical stuff. I hope the doctor is wrong about the MS.
The puppies are adorable and they look so mischievious and into everything — just like human toddlers.
Winnie tolerates them very well. You are doing a sterling job taking care of them and helping out at the rescue centre with the mum and her 14 newborns.
Recent Purchases: I went looking for a new blush, in a shade that would work with my fair toned complexion and it had to be long wearing. What a journey it was! In several beauty places I went to (more high end) – Sephora, Mecca in three different shopping centres – none of them had the right kind of blush. They had either sold out of my shade, or I wanted to see what the blush tested looked like by the end of the day. Sometimes I wanted to go home and check if Temptalia had reviewed it to see the results. To cut a long story short, I went to Myer (a dept. store here and I had a voucher) and I was after Clinique’s Rosy Pop – sold out, but ended up getting Benefit’s Schelle blush. It looks mighty bright in the pan, but goes on beautifully and lasts all day.
I also received my Knowing Perfume from EL this week and Bobbi Brown’s Supernova lipstick.
Rediscoveries: Hmm – CT’s The Rebel, CP’s Tea Thyme lipstick and assorted eye palettes.
Weekend Plans: Anika, my DIL had a bad case of Mastitis this week and my husband and I picked her up from the local hospital at 2 am Friday morning, where she went to for treatment. Luckily there was an all night chemist open nearby to pick up her tablets so she could start the doses. I went around to their place Friday afternoon to help collect the older two from school and help sort out the mountains of washing she has every day.
I have been buying some Halloween costumes for the kids, as they celebrate it and they have decorated the front of their house. Hopefully the weather will be good enough for trick or treating come next Tuesday night.
No real plans for Sunday.
Big plans for November: My birthday (with my twin sister) later on in the month.
Recent purchases: Nothing makeup-related. I got a body wash from Saltair because I really like their packaging and hair products that I have tried so far. I got a new laptop finally, over a year after the old one broke.
Weekend plans: work, laundry, the usual. I am not mad about it, I really think I like routine more than I let on.
November plans: We are gonna go up to Oakland and hit up the zoo, go to Naan n’ Curry. I am also doing NaNoWriMo, which entails writing 50K words in the month of November. I am not doing a novel, but a memoir about my beauty journey, self-love and acceptance, and discussing all that societal baggage about the concept of beauty. It will be more approachable than academic, I hope. Temptalia, the blog, will certainly make an appearance due to how influential it has been on me over the past 15 years or so. I am excited to get writing since I haven’t written much of substance since I graduated college in 2016.
Recent Purchases: I got the PML Crimson Ecstasy lippie from Sephora and the bullet was broken. The second time consecutive time a lipstick bullet from Sephora has been broken. Great color tho.
Weekend Plans: Resting my rotator cuff which seems to be torn.
November Plans: None right now! Maybe an x-ray?
The puppies are so, so cute.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Purchases, nothing at all. Rediscoveries, MAC VG Rhianna 1. It’s still OK to use, smells the way it should. The packaging is a bit sticky, and not so nice anymore, it’s like the old NARS packaging’s.
Weekend plans: Resting. Watching somethings on Netflix while cuddling with Stubbs the Schnauzer.
Do you have any big plans for November? Other than doctors appointments and chemo appointments, no.
