Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Two Giorgio Armani blushes, Haus Labs Lavender Blonde blush
Weekend plans: My mom is coming over to meet Bailey and her 11 liqueur bottles (they are the Liqueur litter). Bailey seems to be more comfortable around women, and she did great letting a friend (who is a foster for the same rescue) meet her and her pups earlier this week. Bailey did not care for my brother-in-law, even though she met him in the family room, away from her pups!
I’m trying to figure out props/backdrops for their two-week old photos tomorrow! I bought a neon sign that’s a heart with a dog in it (that way I can reuse it for any fosters) trying to lean into the bar theme. Hopefully, some of them open up their eyes a bit more, as they are actually slightly more cooperative as they start to see than when they can’t see at all!
Today, I’ll be doing photos/swatches of some new products (ColourPop x Naruto, a couple of Lethal Cosmetics’ eyeshadows) that came in this past week. I am fairly caught up for photos/swatches but will spend the weekend writing up reviews and trying to get through the backlog of dupes.
What’s your favorite cold drink/beverage? I love strawberry lemonade!
Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 Here’s a breakdown of what we have:
- Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
- Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
- Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
- Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)
This week's doggo photo/video...

Recent Purchases: Cover Girl Exhibitionist Mascara (trying it for the first time). Also, decants of L’Heure Bleue and Après L’Ondée are being delivered today. I hope I like at least one of them.
Rediscoveries: No makeup, but I wore Miss Dior (2017) for the first time in a long, long time. I had forgotten how beautiful it is. Too bad it was discontinued; I’m not a fan of the pink version they made to replace it.
Weekend Plans: Getting my car serviced, relaxing, eating ice cream (Ben & Jerry’s Everything But The…).
What’s your favorite cold drink/beverage? Ginger ale
I really dislike when reformulations are made of perfumes because the replacements are never the same!
I hope your car bill isn’t going to be too expensive Seraphine.
I have heard about your heatwaves over in the States and in Canada and they are truly appalling. Stay cool!
Sometimes reformulations are okay, but it’s very disappointing to people whose signature scents get changed. Miss Dior 2017 was a reformulation, though it still had some of the DNA of the original. But the 2021 version is completely different. They should have given it a different name. Just found out the car is costing me $600.
$600 is quite a hefty amount Seraphine and I hope they do a good job of servicing it.
I absolutely loathe it when my favourite scents – like Opium get watered down.!
Maybe get some of the mini liqueur bottles to put around them? Or check with liquor stores to see if they have any old promo materials in the names you’ve got.
I thought about mini liqueur bottles! My husband was like, “will people think you’re promoting drinking?” so I was on the fence, lol! I don’t get to choose the theme, but I try to lean into whatever it is!
Aww! Such major cuteness overload X’s 12!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Neither! Been cloistered indoors due to our INSANE 21 day heatwave, so the last time I did a look was 2 weeks ago, I believe.
Weekend plans: Wash/rinse/repeat. Zoom meeting tomorrow morning. Praying that the monsoon gets here soon to bring us from the 115-120° (122° in Surprise AZ a few days ago!) miserable heatwave so that I can hit the pool. Too hot even for that right now. The pool is tepid.
Favorite cold drink? Either raspberry ice tea or a strawberry margarita! Root beer sounds good too, right now!
Your heatwave has made our news feed over here and it is terrifying – because this is probably going to happen to us when our turn for summer comes. I certainly wouldn’t be getting into a pool of tepid water – who knows what kinds of bacteria are living in that?
I hope your monsoon comes soon to break that infernal heatwave!
Yes, this summer is downright depressing, Genevieve. Hadn’t realized that it’s made international news outside of perhaps Mexico, Canada, anyplace nearby! So, I would have to now say that it’s historical. Although the summer of 2020 was likewise brutal. Both so terrible that lives have been lost. Particularly for those who are homeless, because the cooling centers almost ALWAYS close at 5 p.m. when it’s usually hottest. This area needs to get an attitude (empathy) adjustment and do MORE for the homeless/unhoused, or this summer may go down in the books as a truly tragic part of Arizona’s history and reputation.
*Squees at all the cute, chubby puppies*
RECENT PURCHASES: Nothing beauty related. I got some Tunisian crochet hooks, stitch holders, and yarn.
WEEKEND PLANS:
Today I’ve been taking my son and his GF to an estate sale and some thrift stores. Later, I’ll look for some nice yarn for a shawl I’m making for a friend, and start crocheting it. Crochet Stitch Circle on Saturday, and then I’ll help the kids with some housework at their place. Sunday, buying fruit at the produce market and doing chores around my house.
I hope the heatwave isn’t too fierce around where you live Rachel. What a great hobby you have found to do with your son’s GF. It sounds like you are really creating some beautiful and useful pieces.
Genevieve, our high so far this summer in the Portland area was “only” 98° F/36.7°C so far. No doubt we’ll get in the 100°F + next month. We’ve been leaving cool water out for the outside animals (a squirrel family lives in one of our big pines, plus neighborhood cats, a raccoon, an opossum, and lots of birds come through). I need to purchase a new salt lick for them, though.
Arizona and Southern California have had truly terrifying temperatures. I hope your part of Australia won’t get hit too hard.
We’re having great fun with the crocheting! It’s nice to be doing it regularly again.
Forgot my favorite cold drink: Peach iced tea.
Adorable pups!
Recent purchases: a few shades from the Clionadh sale. Otherwise I’ve been trying to be conservative and use what I have. I’m excited to see what you think about Lavender Blonde—I love it so much.
Weekend plans: going to the little remodeled vintage theater to see my favorite movie ever. Idk when we will see Barbie or Oppenheimer, but this might be a good way too get us back into theaters. I don’t think we have been since 2018 maybe?
Favorite cold drink: water, iced tea (southern style), or a fizzy coke from McDonald’s.
How lovely that the local vintage theatre has been remodeled and I hope you enjoy the shows there. I think a lot of people haven’t been back to the theatre since pre covid days.
New purchase: ColourPop powder highlighter in Spotlight. It’s everything I want in a highlight – smooth luminous glow without glitter, shimmer or sparkle and the perfect neutral leaning cool toned pale pink shade. I’m really happy CP finally created a glitter/sparkle free formula and that pale neutral/cool toned shades were included for vampire skintones like mine!
Weekend plans: I was away for a long weekend last week so I’ll be doing laundry and some cleaning this weekend…sounds like a blast, I know!
Favorite cold drink: nonalcoholic – water (yes, I’m boring), alcohol – pastis (Ricard/Pernod) in summer and a Manhattan any other time.
I have very pale skintones as well and so many products have those warm undertones that end up looking frightful on me. I know the CP highlighter you mean – I thought it was a great one for porcelain skintones as well – and no glitter, or shimmer etc either.
I absolutely agree and even some products described as neutral pull warm on my cool undertone. I’ve been reaching for Spotlight since I received it and you’re right, it’s a great option for porcelain skintones. It reminds me of WnW Blossom Glow, if you’ve tried that, but without the rogue sparkles.
Bailey seems like a really friendly doggie and I admire her for caring for 11 pups – who look like they are thriving! It would be a lot to feed, and like our human babies, often need supplementing with a bottle – lots of work for you Christine!. They are adorable.
Recent Purchases: It isn’t quite recent, but I have just begun using my MAC blush – Fleur Power and it is sensational! I really love the easy way it applies and the soft colour on my cheeks.
I also opened a couple of perfumes that I had in my beauty bag (presents from last year) – EL’s Sensuous, Cimmaron and Beautiful Belle. All are lovely too.
Rediscoveries: Pixi Beauty Reflex Light palette, PMG Decadence and CP’s Drama Much lipstick
Weekend Plans: Unfortunately my twin sister has been readmitted to hospital due to her wound having fluid in it again. The really hard part for her was working out which doctor to see: she went to her GP – who said it felt hot and swollen and recommended her to go back to the ray treatment place. The breast nurse there and the radiation specialist both agreed her breast was swollen and hot – suggested she go to her GP or see the surgeon who did the orignial operation….Getting confused? She contacted him and was told that she couldn’t get an appt. until mid August! By now Allison is in tears….
She then rang the other oncologist who dealt with her in hospital and HE was able to see her straight away and ordered her into hospital…Honestly you would think by now and with all of the women who have suffered from breast cancer that the medical profession would get this right as to WHO cares for the patient! Such a treadmill…
Anyway, I am visiting her today (Saturday here) to see how she is.
Tomorrow I am taking both Olivia and Lachlan to a new indoor play centre – it’s called Rush HQ and it’s supposed to be the next level in playcentres – so that will be interesting!
Charlotte is doing well and starting to sleep for longer stretches at night – great for mum and dad.
Favourite Cold drink – I use to love iced cofees but now I can only tolerate these if they are made with non fat milk.
Oh Genevieve, my heart literally HURTS for your sister Allison. It really does feel like even though we have had so many advances and helpful treatments for cancer and other serious, life altering illnesses/conditions, many working in the medical profession just lack… something. Compassion? Empathy? Understanding? Perhaps all of these key elements! I am glad that her operative oncologist got her in hospital ASAP, though. Dealing with a cancer dx is difficult enough as it is without a doc telling you that “oh well, we don’t have anything for like another month.” Attitudes (or just plain incompetence) such as that get my blood boiling! Hopefully, Allison will finally be on the mend quickly. Praying.🙏🏼
I’m sorry your sister has to go through all of that, but glad the other oncologist was able to help. I hope everything goes well for her.
Thank you Seraphine. I saw her yesterday and she was looking ok. I think they’ve caught the infection in time before it got any worse.
I’m so sorry for Allison. I’m glad they finally got her into the hospital. I hope she’s doing better. We often get that same kind of run-around in the U. S. , too.
Enjoy the new play center. It sounds amazing.
LIQUER LITTER OMG I love it
recent purchase: Dyson Supersonic! It was on a major sale at work (Ulta) and difficult to say no to at that price…I hate that it works so well!
CP x Naruto is not a collection I thought I would ever see and I’m not sure how I feel about it. Like the shades are at least kind of good for the theme? But it also feels a bit like a repackaged AtLA collab in some ways.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My latest Quicksand Cosmetics order arrived!
Weekend plans: I’m way late posting this but I saw friends last weekend!
What’s your favorite cold drink/beverage? Sweet iced tea!
