Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Sephora Lipsticks and Liquid Lipsticks
Weekend plans: This morning, I’m planning to upload and add photos of products I photographed earlier this week and get sneak peeks up for the weekend. Later on, I will be taking my current foster pups back to the rescue so they can go on to their next fosters in pairs (I have all eight!). We are having misters installed on Saturday, so I hope to enjoy the cooler patio over the weekend and we’ll probably invite family over to check them out, too.
What are you looking forward to in July? There’s nothing in particular that we have planned in July, but I am excited to have the misters installed, which should make our patio much, much more usable in July/August! Now, I just need to find my next set of fosters, LOL.
Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:
- Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
- Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
- Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
- Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)
This week's doggo photo/video...

It’s really summer here in the desert, around 110 this weekend….thank heavens for a.c.! A few months ago I discovered Lisa Eldridge lipsticks and am now addicted…ordered two more this week with liners..They included samples of her foundation with my last order and I’m trying not to order it because it is really good, but I need another foundation like a hole in the head ! I love the puppy videos! I just want them all, I keep trying to think which one would I take, and would have to take them all, it would be impossible to choose! Everyone have a great weekend!!!
110! So hot. I know we were due for this level of heat, but every time it comes, it’s just impressive how hot it is, lol!
when my eyeshadow sticks and lipsticks come in the mail they are so hot I have to put them in the refrigerator for a few hours before even opening them…….
Not much better here. West of Boston it was 96 in the parking lot at day job. My dogs just lie on the tile floor and block my access to the toilet. To corral spending, I said no new brands. Lisa products would put me in a tailspin. The lipsticks are TDF. The shade selection is great in my preferred colors. It bugs me when there’s a release (side eye to CP, bec who releases more than CP?) that has 15 shades of warm nude, warm pink, and coral. I get that those shades sell, but even after we got products for more diverse skintones, WE GET THE SAME WARM NUDES, PINKS, CORALS in darker and more saturated iterations. Glad that inclusion is progressing. But The industry seems fairly stagnant and predictable at present. Dogs are far better fun.
Monsoons will be here soon! Do your lipsticks melt during delivery?
Ha…funny you should say that….they are really hot when they arrive and I put them straight in the fridge for a few hours before I even open them!!! So far so good……
That sounds like a Melbourne summer when we get a heat wave….so I can really, truly sympathise with you Penny. We have evaporative cooling for non humid days and a refridgerated a/c for our family room, breakfast table and kitchen and we wish we could afford a/c for the rest of the house….
I put my lipstick bag in the fridge during hot days and I can understand how you have to do that too. Lisa’s foundation is that good is it?
Recent purchases: I ordered decants of Diorissimo EDT and Mitsouko to try them out. (I’m very into classic perfumes right now.)
Rediscoveries: MAC Shale eyeshadow. I’ve been using it with MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork and UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Mushroom.
Weekend: Visiting family member in medical rehab.
What are you looking forward to in July: Nothing really.
I hope your family member is getting better – being in rehab will help them along the road to recovery. Best wishes for your work this week too.
Thank you, Genevieve.
Recent purchases: nothing (except the cooling/heating system for my car, which had to be replaced at great cost!) Rediscoveries: Two NYX eyeshadow products – Iced Mocha single, which is very much like WnW Nutty, though a hair darker, and a trio called Rock & Roll that is an ivory, a shimmery taupe and a shimmery grey not unlike MAC Smoke&Diamonds. I’ve been using these 2 almost historical items all week.
Weekend plans: a bridal shower (don’t even get me started….) for my niece tomorrow and then my grand-daughter’s first birthday party on Sunday.
What are you looking forward to in July: getting some work done on the garden but other than that, just taking it easy.
I detect a fair bit of drama with the bridal shower Mariella….and I hope it all goes well.
Amazing that little Jemma is a year old already! Best wishes for her birthday party. I am sure she is going to be spoiled – but I think you can’t spoil a bubby too much!
At least your a/c in your car is working Mariella – I would truly die without mine. In my new car the a/c is much better than the old one – thank goodness.
Anika has just texted me to say she had an awful night with the baby just wanting to sleep on her chest…….
This couple have been living together for over 5 years, they have a house, etc. but this is just one in a long line of “stag and doe”, bridal shower, another bridal shower, a guys’ stag – that they’re having. To my way of thinking, showers were sort of to help out a couple just starting their lives together, not as a cash grab for a couple who are already established. I adore my niece (and her mom) but I think this is a bit of overkill.
I remember my babies sleeping on my chest or falling asleep nursing – apparently these have become “no nos” to some extent. My daughter had a sleep consultant (she still uses her) to learn sleep techniques and get Jemma to learn to put herself to sleep…. How things have changed.
Yes, I agree with you regarding your niece and her fiance – bridal showers were once (in my day) for couple who hadn’t lived together and had nothing, not for established couple who have bought or have been given everyday items…besides what can you buy them that they don’t already have?
As for bubba – I can recall each of my children as babies falling asleep on my chest as I lay on the coach at pre-dawn hours…
Self settling is the new norm.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Sooo, I finally visited the Sephora and Ulta in my new neighborhood. I didn’t end up picking up the birthday gift from Ulta (a Lancôme moisturizer, because I don’t need another mini tub of non-vegan, fragranced goop), but decided to finally sate my curiosity and try a mini trio of About-Face’s eye paints, along with elf’s new/repackaged (reformulated?) lip exfoliator. As for Sephora: Since the Nest fragrance set was VIB+ only, I settled for the 250 point reward, which contributed to getting $10 off a bottle of Paula’s Choice BHA exfoliant.
Weekend plans: Nothing in particular/unusual.
What I’m looking forward to in July: Inching closer to fall and Halloween? I dunno. There’s an impending heat wave…I hate summer 😩
Yep I hate summer too with a passion and am always fearful of what hot temperatures we are going to face. Last summer was actually quite reasonable here in Melbourne, Aus, but I fear that next summer is going to be terrible.
Puppython!!! 💗🐶💗
Purchases/rediscoveries: Ordered from The Inkey List: Succinic Acid Acne Treatment, Retinol Serum, Caffeine Eye Cream and 15% Vitamin C and EGF Serum.
Rediscovered my perfect for summer Hourglass Tiger holiday face palette after watching Charlotte Holdcroft use it just the other night, so I used it yesterday and even though it runs quite dark, she and I can make it work using a light hand with the included blushes.
Weekend plans: Try to get some laundry done. Something that has been a challenge with our extremely HOT temperatures! Because the laundry room is a bit of a walk outside to that building. Zoom meeting tomorrow morning. Sunday is up in the air!
What are you looking forward to in July? Hopefully some idea of where we are in our lawsuit against that RTC that I spent 4 years in. Like, either a far more generous settlement offer or a court date. Also, let’s hope that our Monsoon Season arrives soon! I am dying for some heavy rain and thunderstorms!🌧️⛈️🌧️
Best wishes for the lawsuit Nancy – these things take their time and can be nerve wracking to say the least. I hope you get a very generous settlement – so generous that you can afford to move to either NJ or Ohio – where your daughter is.
We get a lot of Monsoon weather coming down from Queensland, usually in Feb and the days are so infernally humid – even at night time. Let’s hope it comes sooner rather than later for you.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Electrum Cosmetics Celestial Witch palette!
Weekend plans: There’s a career related thing I have to work on.
What are you looking forward to in July? Just getting closer to AZ summer being over! And waiting for some health news and career news that should come by the month’s end!
Best wishes Zia for a speedy end to your summer – our weather in Melb Aus in summer is very similar to yours and I dislike it with a passion!
I hope your health and career news are positive ones too.
They do look like an energetic bunch and I love how Winnie is sitting on the day seat supervising them!
How gorgeous they are and I hope they go to wonderful homes (and I am sure they will!)
Recent Purchases: Nada
Rediscoveries: Stila in the Garden – such a gorgeous array of autumn tones.
Weekend Plans: Well, our darling little Charlotte Ivy arrived safely last Monday morning (Aus time) at 6.59 am – weighing 8lbs 1oz and was 48cm long – in other words short and chubby! She has dark hair at the moment and a peaches and cream complexion. It was a relatively short labour and Anika is well.
The other children adore her – Harry calls her ‘dolly’ and he has been very sweet with her.
The past week has been busy, as I have cooked their meals for them. The children were up at Kinglake with Anika’s sister for a few days and then they came to our place for a couple, so that mum and dad could just be with Charlotte to see what her eating and sleeping patterns were like (all over the place, of course!).
Next week the older two go back to school, so I will go over to their house in the afternoon to fold up the washing etc and pick up the kids from school and watch over Harry.
Looking forward to in July: Just being with my newest grand-daughter.
Oh Genevieve !
Congratulations!,! …Charlotte Ivy sounds adorable..❤️
Thank you Mary – she is a little sweetheart.
Such lovely news about Charlotte’s safe arrival!!! All the best to everyone as you enjoy the new family member.
Thank you Mariella. I have been busy cooking up a storm for them – minestrone soup, roast vegetable focaccias, chicken satays etc. Everything they can eat quickly.
The rest of the children really adore her and she is just a little bundle of love.
….meant to add – “In the Garden” – from the days when Stila made such wonderful powder shadows as singles and in palettes. I get the feeling we might be the only two here who actually have that palette (hope I’m wrong and others also know the joy). Even though it’s chock-a-block with those autumnal colours you and I both love, it’s still very wearable all the year ’round!
I always regreted not being able to get the first Stila In the – I think it was In The Know – the neutral one. Just couldn’t get it shipped here. And I only got In the Garden when it was onsale at an Australian online retailer that I regularly use.
It is fabulous and the shades so perfect for the two of us.
In the Know was the all matte one so I imagine it wouldn’t be your cup of tea. In the Light is the neutral one and I have it and I’m so glad I grabbed it when it was available. Stila’s singles were also really fantastic and I wonder why on earth they stopped making them. I remember being “shook” when I realized they were available here in Ontario – I “stumbled” across them in a Shoppers Drug Mart location and was SO over the moon as I thought they were simply not available at all here.
Congratulations on the birth of Charlotte Ivy, what a pretty name!
Thank you Ilene – and she is as gorgeous as her name!
I’m very behind on posts right now but have to say Congratulations! Charlotte Ivy is such a beautiful name and I understand it suits her perfectly.
