Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: So much blush. Sooooo much. I bought all of the new Sephora blushes (there was one that was out of stock, I believe), six Giorgio Armani blushes, and then the Rare Beauty bronzer sticks. I’m hoping to get a start on photographing/swatching through a lot of the blushes today and then working through some eye products on Saturday or Sunday (I also bought Sephora’s new eyeliner formula in all shades).

Weekend plans: I will be doing some photographing/swatching this morning, and then my parents are coming over for lunch and to meet my newest grandbabies. Tree is TROUBLE. I upgraded them from their crate to a slightly bigger playpen set up, and the bars on the playpen are *barely* wider than the crate and yet Tree escaped at 3AM. These lil’ guys are resilient and problem-solvers, so Tree just found a stack of towels and cozied up in them during his adventure.

Unfortunately, he is VERY adventurous and says that he cannot be contained, so he proceeded to escape once more before I had to chance to run to the hardware store to get some pool noodles (my plan was to attach them to the sides of the pen panels)… and he escaped again while I was at the store (hubby had to rescue him). Alas, the pool noodle technique did not work as Tree escaped yet again once he cracked the code. They’re back in the crate for now, and when I have the energy, I may reinstate the playpen and try taping cardboard all around the base of the panels, but he is one determined pup!

What song do you have on repeat right now? Chinchilla – “Little Girl Gone”

Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:

  • Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
  • Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
  • Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
  • Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)

This week's doggo photo/video...

Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group!

Recent Purchases: Hyperskin Vitamin C serum, Rare Beauty Bronzer Stick in Bright Side, Ilia Balmy Gloss Tinted Lip Oil in Saint, Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Cleansing Balm, PML lipstick in Infatuation (my new favorite non-red).

Rediscovery: Lorac Pro Palette Noir

Weekend Plans: church, reading my excellent book and dodging pollen particles. maybe watching some baseball?

Song on Repeat: it’s an Oldie but I can’t get Lauryn Hill’s ‘To Zion’ out of my head.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No new purchases, but rediscovered MAC Satin Taupe eyeshadow.

Weekend Plans: Getting new tires on my car, visiting family, grocery shopping.

What song do you have on repeat right now? “Low Happening” by Howling Bells

Nancy T Avatar

They look sooo cute and wriggly (Lotus is my favorite out of all 4, as she looks very chill and calm)! And, Tree is definitely a HANDFUL!!!

Purchases/rediscoveries: Placed 2 more orders with the Sephora sale. One was for 3 of their own products, because 30% off? So I ordered their bi-phase waterproof eye makeup remover (because my daughter wondered whether my tearing eyes were actually caused by blocked tear ducts), Every Day Brush Cleaner, and one of the new Retractable Waterproof Eye Liners in Shimmer Plum just because I loved how PURPLE it looked in their pics! 2nd order was for two of the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Lip Tint Oils in Joy and Serenity when they were FINALLY restocked the other day!
Rediscovered the absolute beauty of my SG x Mel Thompson Tiny Marvels a few times lately, plus a very old MAC 6-pan Toledo eyeshadow palette (Savant needs to be a PERMANENT shade!)

Weekend plans: Zoom meeting tomorrow. Nothing else truly planned. Maybe hit the pool? Maybe launder my cotton summer blanket and matching sheets?

Song on repeat? Just a mostly 80’s radio station, now playing Talking Heads “Burning Down The House”. I listen to lots of late 70’s thru early 90’s Punk, New Wave, Goth, R&B songs, plus older and newer Soul music.

Nancy T Avatar

Yes, Lacey, it certainly sounds like we do! Every band you mentioned, plus: The Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, U-2, Duran Duran, Living Colour, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, Cyndi Lauper, Sting and The Police, Peter Gabriel (and also his group Genesis, and bandmate Phil Collins earlier work), I’m sure that I’m forgetting a BUNCH of others!

Recent Purchases: I purchased the brush set from Singe Beauty, and should be receiving it in the mail today.

Rediscoveries: My Devinah singles! OMG. I forgot HOW PRETTY THEY ARE. Also, anyone remember the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse? Yeah, I’ve used that all week this week and I LOVE IT. I’m not a matte foundation girlie, but it just looks so nice applied with a wet sponge.

Weekend plans: My husband is having friends over for a game night Saturday night, but other than that, we’re just hanging out.

What song do you have on repeat right now? My mind is an endless playlist of random songs. Lately I’ve listened to the entirety of CHVRCHES: The Bones of What You Believe, over and over.

Genevieve Avatar

It’s really hard to get the Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse foundation and I’ve heard that it’s pretty good – not at all cakey and tight looking.
It’s good to make a rediscovery of something you’ve liked in the past but now love.
Have a restful weekend Celesta.

Tree sounds like a little handful! They’re all so cute, I don’t know how you can foster without keeping at least one pup from each litter.

Recent purchases/rediscoveries: I picked up the Sephora Clean Beauty set during the sale, and there have been some winners. I’m very happy with the Rose Inc Delphine blush — I’m not a huge fan of cream blushes and really prefer the drier formulas, and that blush delivers in both color and texture. I also like the Gwen Stefani lipstick in Stomp Box, even though it’s the annoyingly tiny sample size, and the Phlur Missing Persons perfume is a nice subtle scent for casual days. I do find it lingers more on my clothing than my skin, which leads me to wonder if the “missing person” is me, lol. Not impressed with the Tower 28 mascara or any of the skin care, but for under $35 and some surprises, I’m happy.

Weekend Plans: I have book club tomorrow, which I’m really looking forward to, and I got some new running shoes that I’m going to do an easy mile or two to break in. I also need to have my daughter try on a couple of her prom dresses while she’s home this weekend (she graduated last year, but is attending her boyfriend’s prom in May).

What song do you have on repeat right now? Richard Thompson, “Vincent Black Lightning”

Genevieve Avatar

I hope you enjoy your book club Brandi – what book are you reading? My girlfriend is in one and they have just finished The Lincoln Highway – which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Over here in Aus, we call the Prom night a Graduation Evening and the girls get all dressed up and so do the boys. What colour dress would she like? Sometimes it’s very hard to find exactly what you like and then when you don’t need a formal dress, you see lots that you like….Good luck!

Purchases: Tatcha Cleanser (the Rice Wash one) and a bigger bottle of Maison Margiela On a Date fragrance (I’d already purchased the 1 oz. bottle so now I can be REALLY lavish with it). Rediscoveries: MAC Tempting eyeshadow. It is such a lovely colour. Alas, I also “discovered” that MAC has discontinued it – phooey!

Weekend plans: it’s going to be rainy here all weekend so I figure I’ll spend some of it at the gym and scouring Winners for some good finds and then doing some baking for a baby shower next weekend (squares that freeze really well).

Song on replay: The other day it was Lost Together by Blue Rodeo (an oldie but a lovely song).

Genevieve Avatar

Tempting is such a beautiful shade – why on Earth would MAC d/c this gorgeous one? No wonder you are feeling disgruntled…
I love being lavish with my perfumes, but I get told off by my family that they are too strong. I tell them it’s a hint to leave me alone and not ask me to do anything for them!

Genevieve Avatar

Tree looks so cute and peaceful as he is having a big snooze recovering from all of his adventures. He seems like a really intelligent puppy, working out how to escape his enclosures. I bet he is keeping you problem solving on how to keep him safe. How lovely they are all and what a great job you and Shaun are doing looking after them so well.

Recent Purchases: Nada – still waiting for CP’s Party Mix to arrive
Rediscoveries: PMG’s Bronze Bliss and Shiseido’s Sleeping Dragon Visionary Gel lipstick

Weekend Plans: Recovering after a car accident.
Last Tuesday morning, as I was turning right (we drive on the opposite side of the road to you in the States and Canada) into a local shopping centre, a driver decided to access the left hand turn lane and proceeded to drive straight ahead and smashed into the left side of my car. The air bags were activitated as she hit my car with such force. Luckily no-one was injured and even more luckily I didn’t have Harry sitting in his car seat on that side. The insurance company that I am dealing with have been great – straight away they said it was her fault.
The problem is that her personal car was in for repairs from an earlier accident she had and she was using a hire car (the whole front of her car was smashed). The car insurer’s think that my car might be a right off and so I don’t have a car to drive at the moment. But she will get her own car back and be able to drive….I love my little cornflower blue Honda Jazz and really do miss not having a car.
I have a massive bruise on my left breast, which is being monitored by my doctor and if it doesn’t go down by Monday, I will be having an ultrasound on it.
The hard part was that on Tuesday I was looking after all of my grandchildren as their parents were going to the funeral of my DIL’s aunt in a country town 2 hours drive away.
On a happier note, my twin sister is just out of hospital and the tests on her heart, after all the adrenaline she received when she had the anaphylactic reaction, indicated that her heart is in good nick. The pathology from the cancerous lump showed that it was much bigger than first thought and she may have to undergo a round of chemo and then ray treatment.
So we are hoping that the ray treatment alone will surffice.
Thank you to everyone for your good wishes last week.

What song do you have on repeat right now: Linda Ronstadt’s Tracks of My Tears – just love her voice and I have been playing all of her albums.

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you Helene – I’ve never been in a car accident like this before and it was very scary, but luckily no one was injured.
Thank you for your kind wishes re my sister. She is much happier at home and relieved that the lump is out.

Helene Avatar

I’ve only been in one accident, it was due to a sudden very slippery icy part of the road I was on. The car just lost the grip on the road, It went in a circle twice and stopped when it hit the mid rail head on. I remember thinking “this is going to hurt” but it didn’t. I had managed to get the speed down a lot from the 90 km/h I was going in. I still don’t know how I moved the car from the middle of the road to the side.
The only thing that got hurt was the car, but not badly and my pride, badly. 🙂 Going home, still driving the car I saw at least three others who had slipped of the road so I didn’t feel quite as stupid for losing control of the car.

Nancy T Avatar

OMG, Genevieve! That is a pretty awful and frightening car crash! Thank goodness that you were not hurt any worse, as head-on collisions are potentially life-threatening. Since the other driver was driving a loaner because her actual vehicle was ALREADY in a crash… makes me wonder whether she had alcohol or something else in her system during BOTH. 🤔

Susan Nevling Avatar

I have ordered odds and ends for the Sephora sale but haven’t had time to sample them. I was caring for a very ill family member for 6 months so was in a no makeup mode. Hoping to kick it up a notch now.
These puppies are wonderful. I love dogs so much. My daughter worked in pittbull rescue too but had to stop. She kept all her fosters but had to stop at 3!
Thanks for caring for these re sweet babies.

Lacey Avatar

Recent purchases: LYS serum foundation in TN6, blind buy, looked too dark, sheered it out with a brush over mineral un-tinted spf (PC Calm mineral moisturizer) and I’m shocked at how much I like it! It’s light weight, doesn’t set immediately so creams layered very well on top. A bit of Hourglass powders, no setting spray. The satin, skin-like finish lasted 10 hrs with some fading. No pilling or settling into pores/lines, not drying. I think people with dry, combo or textured skin might like this a lot.

Danessa Myricks duo chrome eye liners in Jade and Morganite. Bought for my lower lash line, they’re long lasting and the sparkles don’t go everywhere. I like these and will pick up a few more colors.

Weekend plans: chores and seeing my friend’s band play.

Listening to: Kate Bush, Cocteau Twins and Zero 7. Female vocals ground me when life gets too hectic. 🙂

Helene Avatar

Tree sounds like such a fun little one. Out adventuring at such a tender age. They all look lovely, I’m glad I live far, far away or I’d come puppie-napping Lotus I think.
We don’t have anything like the amount of rescue dogs that you have, we do have some, but almost all are grown up dogs, I’ve not checked in a long time, but most used to be Pit Bulls or Staffordshire types of dogs.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I bought a few things from MAC, all at sale. MAC Stack Mascara in a limited packaging and therefore cheaper, Dazzleshadow Extreme Kiss of Klimt and three other eyeshadows, #Humblebrag, Darkroom and a back up of Brule. I got some GWP’s usual stuff and an Extra Dimension Blush in Faux Sure!. I’m not sure if it’ll work for me, but it could be a nice eyeshadow if I find the colour off for my cheeks or find it too shimmery,
Weekend plans: I have an annoying cold, so I’ll do as little as possible, get some fresh air when walking Stubbs, watch the last few episodes of Smallville, my latest binge watch show, and then find a new (old) show to watch.
What song do you have on repeat right now? Am I terribly boring when I say none? I love music but I generally listen in the car or when I feel an absolute must to listen to something, it may be almost any kind of music except jazz as it’s something I rarely listen to and probably the genre I appreciate the least.
The last thing I did listen to was the trio in the final of Richard Strauss Der Rosenkavalier, yes opera. 🙂

Helene Avatar

Maybe it’s because all dogs are quite expensive to buy here. Dogs like the Cocker Spaniel and Poodle mix is probably around $3 000 – 4 500. They are very popular. A registered breed can be anything from I guess $1 500 and up.
After taking a quick look at the rescues that are available I’d say that most of them are big, strong and insecure dogs and mixed breeds though some are pure bred.
We also mostly buy the dogs from breeders who have mostly around 2 -3 litters a year. There are puppy factories, sadly and have been quite a lot of very young puppies smuggled into the country.
Very often we have to talk to breeders, meet them and having them accept us as well as we accept them then we just have to wait for the litter to be born and at 8 weeks they are ready to come to their new home.
I have in my by now, rather long life never seen a stray dog, maybe a runaway once.
Sorry for going on so long.
I really admire what you and Shaun are doing for the little puppies, and I love seeing photos and films. You are an amazing family!

Sorry, late to reply, was driving back home with my younger children from a short rest at my sisters-in-law’s.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: None. Going through a dry skin spell, so I’ve not been inclined to where makeup.

Weekend plans: Studying, reading a book, watching the rain and perhaps church tonight if it let’s up (since we walk there).

What song do you have on repeat right now? I have none on repeat, but my son keeps pestering my with some dance song called “Rasputin”. I’m Euro-discoed out! LOL!
