Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Fenty liquid lipsticks, Milk Makeup and Tower 28 Contours/bronzers.

Weekend plans: Getting some sleep, taking naps, and admiring Bri’s new babies! Brisket had her nine babies, who are the Cuts of Beef litter, late last night, starting around 8PM and finishing up at 11PM. She and all her pups are doing great so far!

What’s your favorite movie genre? I like a good rom-com, but I need like 60% comedy and 40% romance where it’s not overly cringy!

Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! ๐Ÿ™‚ You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:

  • Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
  • Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
  • Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
  • Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)

This week's doggo photo/video...

Congrats on the baby steaklets! I’m glad the process seemed relatively quick and easy for your foster pup. She seems like such a sweet girl.

Recent Purchases: My OE palettes should be in today as well as my SbSD singles… and I ordered a few shades from the Clionadh restock just a few minutes ago.

Rediscoveries: I’m cycling through my base products currently to see what I like. Today is my Estee Lauder Double Wear, which I’ve only used a few times in the time I’ve had it. The shade is perfect, but I definitely need a glowy primer underneath. I used my CT Flawless Filter today, but realized it was time to dispose of it after I already applied it to my face… so we’ll see how that turns out!

Weekend plans: Nothing in particular!

Whatโ€™s your favorite movie genre? Ohh, I love comedies, but nothing too raunchy, which is hard to come by these days it seems. I also love a good dystopia.

Stephanie Avatar

OMG congrats Brisket!! Nine little steaklets!!

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I have been having a really bad MS flare, so I have been in treat yo’self mode. I purchased some orange makeup from Moira because I am going to do all orange makeup looks on my IG in March for MS awareness (perfect timing with the stupid flare!!!), a full bottle of Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid (my signature vanilla methinks), and an orange LipStories lipstick from Sephora (Hot in Havana.) This is definitely the most I’ve spent in a week in…. forever. Definitely since my last pre-pandemic vacation. This stuff will all be loved and used, so I am happy with this. I also won a giveway of the entire set (!!!!) of Moira’s new lipsticks, so i think those will be here soon too. I am excited AF to try those as well.

Weekend plans: I have decided that I am going to write 20 letters to my husband before our anniversary trip in May, so I need to go to the stationery shop down the road tomorrow or Sunday to get supplies. Nothing fancy, I just want some nice matching paper and envelopes. I am making gumbo tomorrow, but otherwise just trying to rest enough that this flare stops kicking my entire butt. We might watch some classic best movies ever type films as well since we found a list of Roger Ebert’s top ten that looks pretty fun.

Whatโ€™s your favorite movie genre? The ones I gravitate to the most are sci-fi and classics, but I like a little of everything honestly. I use a website called flickchart to rate and rank movies, and it’s always fun to see what I actually liked or what I just watched out of boredom.

Genevieve Avatar

Sorry to read about your MS flare up – that must make everything really uncomfortable and difficult for you.
What a lovely idea to hand write 20 letters to your husband for your anniversary. I am sure he will be touched and thrilled by the gesture.
Congratulations on winning the Moira lipstick set – how fabulous that is! I hope you like all of your new goodies and that they cheer you up.

Seraphine Avatar

Congratulations on the adorable puppies!!!

Recent Purchases: MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork

Weekend plans: Game night with another couple, visiting family, chores, and hopefully finding a new show to binge-watch. I’m not sure I want to continue watching “The Last of Us” (I’ve only seen the first episode and it’s not grabbing me yet).

Whatโ€™s your favorite movie genre? Psychological horror

Genevieve Avatar

I am fairly keen on Psychological crime mystery series (not so much of the horror factor though) and I think it is difficult to find one that grabs you. The Happy Valley British series is an example of what I like.
I hope you get to have a relaxing weekend Seraphine – how’s work going? Or shouldn’t I ask because it’s that frenetic?

Mariella Avatar

Oh gosh….Happy Valley!!! Apparently there is now a 3rd season though who knows if/when it will be aired here in Canada. On the flip side, Sarah Lancashire (Catherine Cawood) is also fabulous in Last Tango in Halifax, which also has Nicola Walker and the incomparable (Sir) Derek Jacobi in it. And I recall Lancashire so well from her years as ditzy but sweet and vulnerable bar maid Raquel Wolstenhume on Coronation Street.

All those sweet little “steaklets” have me like: ๐Ÿ˜โ—
They’re sooo cute and of course, I love the names that you gave them! ๐Ÿ˜˜

Purchases/rediscoveries: Nothing purchased. Rediscovered the simple beauty of something that I typically begin wearing as our weather warms up, which it isn’t, MAC See Sheer lipstick with Nyx Ever SLP for a dusty coral lip.

Weekend plans: Zoom meeting tomorrow morning. Then, a lot of laundry… tentatively, anyways! Not much else.

Favorite movie genre? Sci-fi and adventure. Once in awhile, I do enjoy an old movie like Breakfast At Tiffany’s or something along those lines. I grew up watching far too many horror or otherwise scary (for a little kid) movies, and so, I’m not a fan of those. Although a good psychological thriller or mystery may get my attention.

Rachel R. Avatar

Great job, Brisket! So many precious babies. You did great with her, Christine.

โ„๏ธRECENT PURCHASES: Nothing beauty related. We spent our discretionary money on concert tickets for Duran Duran in May and Depeche Mode in Nov.

โ„๏ธWEEKEND PLANS: My older son’s birthday is today, and we just got back from a wonderful lunch. Hubby, my younger son, and older son’s best friend all had today off work, which was lucky.

Tomorrow, I’ll be giving my younger son a cooking lesson.

Otherwise staying warm and off icy roads. It snowed 7.7″ (19.6 cm) in my town yesterday, and it’s still really cold! We rarely get snow, much less so much overnight. We’ll still be on winter storm warning through the weekend.

โ„๏ธWHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE GENRE?
Horror/SciFi/Fantasy

Genevieve Avatar

Happy Birthday to your eldest son Rachel and I’m glad to read that you all had a fabulous lunch out together and it’s lovely that your family members had the day off work so they could also join in on the celebrations.
I can’t believe that you are experiencing snow at this late stage of the year – but then we have ‘had’ our summer now too – it’s been really quite hot here in the past week.
Stay safe and warm Rachel.

Mariella Avatar

Recent purchases: well, I can tell you what I was going to buy – until an ice storm put the kibosh on my plans to hit Sephora. I’d planned to get Maison Margiela On a Date fragrance and Drybar Liquid Glass Moisture Rich Sealant. Alas, it was just too treacherous to go out yesterday (I even cancelled my training session).

Weekend plans: hubs is going to Myrtle Beach with his brothers to golf for a week and they’re taking MY car!!!! (DH has a luxury sedan but I don’t like driving it but I’m stuck with it for a week because “The 4 Idiots” and their golf stuff won’t fit into hubs’s car or the cars of the other 3 Idiots). So the “rental fee” is basically carte blanche shopping for me so I’m hoping to hit Sephora tomorrow, then go to the gym. Gym on Sunday as well and then the rest of the day for me….might meet some friends for coffee or make some raspberry meringue bars or a coffee cake and invite the friends here…

Favourite movie genre: if it’s British and a mystery or rom com or comedy, I’m all over it. If it’s Norse and slightly dark but not too dark, sign me up. Anyone else here every seen Charade (from the 1960’s) starring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant??? It’s one of the most divine films ever! Audrey, Cary AND PARIS!!! I’m not a fan of horror or dystopia (I’ve never seen The Handmaid’s Tale even though large chunks of it – around the Commander’s house – were shot in my neighbourhood; mind you, I’ve never been a fan of Margaret Atwood, which is kind of sacrilege here in Canada!)

Genevieve Avatar

Nine puppies! She deserves a medal for that effort! Thank goodness the puppies are all well and thriving. You must be exhausted Christine – such an emotional time for you and Shaun as well. She seems like a beautiful doggie too. Congratulations.

Recent Purchases: Just a few skincare items that were on sale – more of The Ordinary’s Moroccan Argon Oil, Dermaveen’s Eczema lotion and a few other items.
Rediscoveries: I have mainly been using PMG’s Decadence palette this past week, in conjunction with others in my vast collection.

Weekend Plans Well, we have some great news on the baby front as welll. During the week we found out that Anika, my DIL, is expecting a GIRL in early July (between the 1st and the 5th). Everyone in the family is so excited and their eldest children – Olivia and Lachlan are really happy to be welcoming a girl into their family. Little Harry has no idea why he’s cheering and we figure that the new arrival is going to be a bit of a shock for him.
Anika is keeping very well and the baby is healthy and active, so that is also good news.
As far as our weekend plans are concerned, all is a bit low key at the moment. We’ve just had a bout of very hot weather that I have found taxing, so I am not planning much apart from the usual this weekend.

Favourite Movie Genre: I am not much into movies these days and I can’t remember the last time I saw one. I generally like happy stories and sometimes a bit of a mystery. It’s that I prefer series and documentaries more these days.

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you Stephanie, the year is ticking away quickly and you’re right -it will be July before we know it. At least the baby will be born during the school holidays which will make organisation a lot easier.

Mariella Avatar

Congratulations on the new grand-daughter, Genevieve. She’ll be almost exactly a year younger than our grand-daughter, who was born on July 11 of this past year.

Weather extremes, which are becoming more extreme, are so hard to cope with. We just had a major dump of freezing rain (oh the joy – NOT) followed by snow followed by more freezing rain so it was treacherous to go anywhere or do anything. That’s why I didn’t make it to Sephora when I’d planned (but I went yesterday and it was MOBBED!)

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you Mariella – we’re expecting the baby to be born either on Canada’s Independence Day or the US Independence Day – or somewhere in between.
I’m finding it very hard to resist rushing out a buying some little baby girl clothes – I have purchased some lovely little winter jackets for her, cardigans and warm onesie outfits though…..resistance is futile for me!
Well the weather has turned more autumn like this week and you have suffered through some pretty freezing weather this winter. Take care.

Sarah Avatar

Recent Purchases: Melt Cosmetics Cream Blushlight in Lynx and Laura Mercier High Vibe Lip Color in Bright (which lives up to its name).

Weekend Plans: I have a rotator cuff injury so mostly rest.

My favorite movie genre: movies where lots of things blow up but no on is injured. (Ie fast & furious)

So glad the puppies were born without incident!

Helene Avatar

First of all, puppies! They and mother Brisket look so sweet. Can you keep a puppy? Or the Brisket? Or both!

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I finally got my Black Friday order from About Face. I got Cheek Freak Blush Balm in Score, Line Artist in Blue is the New Black and LE Fractal Glitter Brow in Eclipsed.
It took a long time getting here, obviously there was some problems, but they managed to sort it out so I got my order and they deducted 20% as it took such a very long time for me to get my order.

Weekend plans: I’m late reading my e-mails so the weekend is gone. I didn’t do anything interesting.

Whatโ€™s your favorite movie genre? Classics, but I enjoy all genres as long as the story is good. I’m kind of bored with superhero movies, though.
