This week's doggo photo/video...
Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group!

These photos are from around Easter in 2018 (he was about 10 years old). He’s on his littlest–and original–bed, which worked well for the lil’ photoshoot. I always love looking at these because he looked so serious, but patient, waiting for me to finish taking photos! The third photo in the slideshow is him looking at me with great worry about whether treats were incoming (they were!).

Mellan looks so handsome in his spring finery. Do you think you will ever get another dog?
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No new purchases but I opened a new mascara that I acquired months ago. It’s a promo size of the Fenty Full Frontal Volume Mascara. I like it so far.
Weekend plans: Nothing special. We don’t do holidays.
What do you do to help you fall asleep at night?: I usually nod off reading but then wake up after a few hours and have trouble falling asleep again. Based on something I read once, I try to distract my brain with some nonsense like random words beginning with a particular letter, which is supposed to permit it to shut itself off. It usually works.
Yes, definitely! 🙂
Recent Purchases/ Rediscovered things: (this is about a months worth)
– Tarte creamy Shape Tape (which unfortunately was returned….Light/medium coverage which disappeared in about 4 hours, both at home and at work….for my preference it doesn’t work)
-Rediscovered SG Summer Days palette and love it so much
– Elta MD Elements Tinted moisturizer- awesome. Holds up under the mask, so pretty, doesn’t go orange
– Rediscovered Marc Jacobs TanTasic bronzer…brilliant with the Rephr 05 brush
Weekend plans: Riding Horses. Writing Reports. Garden. Being Outside. -> Rinse and repeat plans until October 😄
What do you do to help you fall asleep at night?: Work-out after sitting on my bum all day at work (the trusty bowflex) .
I forgot: Pan Check in
Naked 3 palette Quarterly check in- 5.2 grams used
Returned Laura Mercier Cake Liner (black) – it kept crumbling and giving me raccoon eyes…I even used with the All Nighter spray (don’t to that, it stings!) to see if it would help. I used dry, I used wet. For me, didn’t work.
Played with the SG Summer Days palette; love it; this will replace my ND 3 palette; for me, same kind of vibe, but better quality and smaller/more travel friendly (IMO).
Overwhelmingly, I used more skin, hair care and body care items; not surprisingly, the least amount was lip-related.
I have also done a ruthless declutter of my concealers…and the only one left standing is my HG IT cosmetics…which fortunately was in the Ulta 21 days of beauty sale. It’s such a good value for money…1 tube lasts approx 2 years (I know, but it does) without smelling off or going weird. Love it.
I have put the ABH Riviera palette in the To-Pan box for 2022….so sad, the shimmers aren’t lasting, the mattes are nice, but in reality you can’t use all of them around the eye (I believe 3 are designated as unsafe around the eye ???) and so…I will pan what I can next year and dupe it with Sydney Grace because it is my go-to summer palette.
Decluttered TF Gingerbread spice; the 3 shadows I was happy to use started to get this weird bubble/hard pan/gritty texture. Out. I was able to use a little over 2 grams in 2 months.
Palettes to play with next couple of months: Viseart warm edit, ND Safari Palette
It’s good to do a general declutter because then you discover the palettes that are actually worth it and are still good to use. Plus your tastes change over time and some palettes are more useful to you now than before.
So agree! 😎
I recently rediscovered my Mac On Hold and some other MAC lipsticks in my stash during a declutter. Super excited about the cremesheen lipsticks, I forgot how moisturizing they are for my poor lips. Planning on taking my pupper down to the river and playing around. It’s fun watching my 70lb lap dog splash in the water.
Recent Purchases: Does buying the Aquaphor Baby Wash and Shampoo (fragrance free) and Native plastic free deodorant from Target count? 😅 Paula’s Choice still doesn’t have the Body and Hair Shampoo back in stock and I’m trying to cope somehow; I’m not that anxious about the body part, it’s my scalp and hair that more picky. I’m ordering at least 3 bottles when it’s back in stock.
Rediscoveries: Wearing a face primer. I skipped the step for a few weeks and I only realized how my skin looks better with it this week.
Weekend plans: Enjoy the nice weather and my boring weekend activities. Nothing new planned.
What do you do to help you fall asleep at night?: Nothing special really. In the past 6-7 years, since I started being more active and eating good quality food, I just go bed and fall asleep almost immediately. I can be on my phone or the computer 10 minutes before, doesn’t matter, my brain shuts down fast. I use to suffer from bad insomnia, I could stay in bed for hours to get asleep.
Those Mellan pictures cheer me up as soon as I see them! He was the best 🐶
Purchases/rediscoveries: Haven’t bought anything…yet. As for rediscoveries, sort of? I say this because the palette is still fairly newish, but CP x RBK. Got such an earthy, yet still spring-y enough.
Weekend Plans: Still on grandbaby watch. Thanks to a misunderstanding, the due date wasn’t actually March 1st, but April 1st. So any day now. Other than that, major food shopping trip later today. Swimming tomorrow, I think. Zoom meeting on Sunday.
What helps you go to sleep at night? Sooo much! A whole routine of skincare, watching a YT video or two, reading, and sleep medication, too. One is natural, Estraven for Sleep, and one is prescription. I’ve struggled with insomnia my entire life. I thoroughly despise the whole ordeal!
Sounds like your soon-to-be-born grandkid pulled an April Fool’s Prank on you with that due date mix-up! Hope the baby arrives safely soon.
Best wishes for the baby Nancy and I hope he comes soon for you and mamma. I hope your daughter is OK and everything is going well for her.
Mellan was cuter than any easter bunny! <3
Purchases/rediscoveries: No makeup/beauty related ones but I did finally get myself an earring holder for all of my little stud earrings. During the pandemic I've been wearing post earrings only since dangly ones easily catch on the straps of a mask when I'm taking it on and off. Now I have all of them on one easy display so I can see what I have and make a decision on what to wear 🙂 Unfortunately in the process of rediscovering earrings I forgot I had, I discovered that I am missing a few singles and have lonely unmatched earrings!
Weekend plans: Go to a nearby nursery for a new pot for a rootbound plant, pruning sheers for my herbs, and probably buy more plants, because I can. Probably do a bit of yard work. Get at least one takeout meal for Seattle Restaurant Week (which is actually running all month).
What do I do to fall asleep at night? I also read to fall asleep! Then because I fall asleep mid-chapter I read when I wake up in the morning. Sometimes I also read if I wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep. It's for this reason that I have already read 34 books this year, LOL.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I picked up just the Phyto-Poudre Compacte by Sisley during their F&F Sale, and…ok let me be completely honest: I LOVE the powder. It’s phenomenal. I touch up once at noon (forehead, nothing else needs to be touched up…) and I’m good for the rest of the day. However, the packaging is just awful. For its proud price, it gets you cheap, flimsy ANIMAL PRINT packaging. For that alone, I doubt I’ll repurchase. The packaging is just the worst and at that price point, you gotta impress me at all angles.
Weekend plans: Nothing. I just realized it’s Easter weekend, and I don’t celebrate Easter. So an extremely quiet, low-key weekend it is!
What do you do to help you fall asleep at night?: I take natural medicines to help me sleep, because otherwise my insomnia will keep me up all night. Once those kick in, I’m out. That’s kind of my whole routine. Take my meds, read a little until they kick in, and sleep for 5 hours. Whew!
How gorgeous Mellon looks, sitting there patiently whilst being photographed. What a darling boy he was!
Recent Purchases: Just some shampoo, conditioner and Glow Labs daily moisturiser. I am really liking the Glow Labs brand and have their cleansing balm, which is perfect for removing make up and leaving my skin soft and hydrated, so I thought I would try their daily moisturiser.
Rediscoveries: Stila In the Garden – the Sage shade is just gorgeous.
Weekend Plans: Well no Easter relaxation for us! Last year we were in total lockdown and it was a very quiet Easter indeed, but no such thing this year as our son, daughter in law and the three children are moving in with us. We have boxes everywhere and there is still a HUGE amount of sorting and moving to do. I still have to clean the house too.
They are officially moving in on Monday, with the furniture removalist coming, so everything has to be done by then. I am tired just thinking about it. We will probably have to do another hard rubbish collection as well.
Olivia is still not too keen on the move, whereas Lachlan told me he is’counting down the hours” because he can’t wait to be here! And baby Harry, who is looking like he seriously wants to crawl, is just divine.
Falling Asleep at Night: Read – I am an avid reader and I always like to read for an hour or two before I go to bed. It’s the best thing.
So happy you can be with family this year! 🤩
Thank you Arena, I will be a lot of fun and activity around our place for quite awhile. The school holidays are on and I am already planning to go to lots of places that have been closed in the past, due to Covid, but are now open. And the parks are open too. So I am looking forward to all kinds of activities that we couldn’t do last year.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I recently became a brand ambassador for Truly Beauty, so I’ve been trying their Unicorn Fruit bundle which contains a whipped body butter, lip balm, and body polish. I started daily-vlogging the month of April but because I’ve been going out/wearing a mask every day I haven’t had a chance to wear makeup this month!
Weekend plans: I’m finally seeing a friend for the first time since this pandemic started. I can’t describe how excited I am, it’s been over a year since I’ve seen anyone that isn’t either direct family or a doctor
What do you do to help you fall asleep at night?: I’m trying to get back into reading before bed, but sometimes I still default to bad habits and fall asleep watching videos of cats
That’s fantastic news Kimberley that you can start seeing friends. It really makes a difference to your spirit when you are able to catch up and have a good chat. I hope you have a lovely time together.
So handsome!! I love a patient dog.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My first order from Pretties for Your Face came in! Also my first order from Devinah! Rediscovery – MUG Preppy. I wouldn’t say I ever forgot about it, but every time I use it I remember how great an eyeshadow it is – looks amazing in my crease and blends out wonderfully.
Weekend plans: Eat sushi XD And work through my continuing education credits for my professional license.
What do you do to help you fall asleep at night?: Aromatherapy and smelling my perfume oils. I also like to watch something funny if my mind is troubled.
I have really tried not to buy.. however here we are! I took advantage of the MAC sale and bought concealers and highlighters! I decided those were must haves and I use concealers, powders and mascara the most.. and I actually really run out of those items! I also finally bought PMG Divine Rose I yep I bought II and passed on I but with the sale I decided to go for it! I also picked up the under eye powder and a few lip glosses that were on sale in addition to Mascara and liquid Liner. I have been following the ULTA 21 days of beauty but only bought a Dermalogica cleanser and MAC fix plus because they were half off… honestly right now I feel like I need to just go to the hair salon, get a massage and a facial to get back on track.. make up can only do so much.
Mellan does look expectant. I see that look a million times a day when we play throw the favorite stuffy. He actually looks quite young and distinguished. My Buddy is very camera shy.
Recent Purchases: Just a couple of Rephr brushes from the concept store.
Rediscoveries: Laura Geller Baked Blush n Brighten in Pink Buttercream. It’s such a perfect warm spring pink. I wish I could find a more neutral pink that didn’t make my cheeks look lavender.
Weekend plans: Going go look at samples to begin the process of putting in new floors at our house. It’s the first time I’ve ever had such a large house project done, besides roofing, so I’m nervous/excited about it. For Easter, my MIL is coming over and we’re going to do all the fun Easter things with my son. It will be a nice weekend.
What do you do to help you fall asleep at night?: I journal for a few minutes and then read until I can’t keep my eyes open anymore. I love to read.
Haul/Rediscovery: Purchased Chanel Joues Contraste in Elegance. Rediscovered Chanel’s brow pencil in Auburn.
Weekend Plans: Spent Saturday afternoon visiting a friend outside at a distance and masked. It was a beautiful day with temps near 72F/22C. Spending Sunday getting my tax information together and preparing side dishes for an Easter dinner exchange. We’re eating in our separate homes.
What do you do to help you fall asleep at night?: Nothing. I fall asleep quickly after I get into bed.
RECENT PURCHASES: None
REDISCOVERIES: I’ve been wearing makeup more the last few weeks. I’ve been wearing the UD Electric Palette in conjunction with my newer colorful palettes.
WEEKEND PLANS: I’m late and writing this Sunday. Saturday we ran some errands and had lunch with our younger son. Today we had an Easter BBQ, and our sons’ friend came over.
What do you do to help you fall asleep at night?: Take medication and listen to music. I try to relax. I have varying degrees of success. I’m a lifelong hardcore insomniac with a severe anxiety disorder and high medication tolerance, so nothing has ever worked great.
