Haul: Saturday is my birthday so I will do more shopping at Sephora and Ulta. However, I started early since I have been saving for two months now! I ordered some of the new NYX Butter Lipsticks and butter glosses during the 20% off at Ulta, plus I had rewards points expiring soon so I got a really good deal on them. I also got two of the Maybelline Vivids (Vibrant Mandarin and Hot Plum) during that sale. I have SPRING on the brain!! I only got one thing from the new MAC collection, Heavenly Hybrid lipstick. From Macys, I got one of the Smashbox Wondervision sets on sale for $24 (for three full sized products), a restock on my Stila Stay All Day liner, an Urban Decay Naked gloss, and the Clinique Plum Pop blush.
Weekend plans: Birthday dinner party with my friends and shopping around in Ulta/Sephora.
Do you love to cook?: Yes! But I rarely have anyone to cook for. I am single, without children, so I typically prepare too much food and get sick of it before it is all gone 🙁
We struggle with cooking for two! We usually cook just enough for one meal, but then we’re cooking ALL the time. My mom cooks for an army, even though it’s three of them (and even when we go over there, it’s still way. too. much. food!).
Get in the habit of cooking extra rice or pasta. Then you can add to them and it will save you time. Roast a chicken and save some of it to use later.

Haul: Urban Decay Naked2 (Yes, I know, I’m late to the game); Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation in Pearl (just a sample to try it out – it’s clinging to my dry patches but I think it’d be wonderful for summer); Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer; FAB Facial Radiance Pads; Various fragrance samples! Now I’m on a no-buy until after my birthday at the end of the month.
Weekend Plans: I’m taking out my mother to dinner for her birthday. I haven’t seen her in about a month so I think it’ll be a nice time as long as the weather holds out! Also lots of Olympics watching. I’m a sucker for figure skating.
Do you love to cook? ….. YES. This is a passion that I would actually put over makeup, lol! I am even at the infant stages of starting a food blog. I’ve catered before, and I make every effort to cook everything from scratch, even breads. I’m planning to cook mussels and crusty bread for Valentine’s Day but I’m a little stuck on dessert ideas. Maybe eclairs or profiteroles. The husband has been asking for some ice cream, and if I make a nice minty ice cream to go into some cream puff dough and douse it all in chocolate… Well it seems like a tasty idea. 🙂

Do I love to cook: YES! I’m about to break in my new Le Creuset in Marseille tonight and for Sunday I’ll be making antipasti, Lamb Ragù with Gnocchi, and Italian Wedding Cookies. We’re also doing a blind wine tasting with Italian offerings.

Do you like to cook: I love to cook although with teaching Food and Nutrition (when I teach full time, it means cooking with 3 classes twice a week so that’s 5 or 6 kitchens of students X 3 class X twice a week) there are times when the LAST thing I want to do when I get home is cook, since I’ve been cooking all day long. But generally, I love to cook, I’m a pretty good cook and have a huge collections of cookbooks and cooking magazines for inspiration.

Haul: Finally gave in and ordered YSL Touche Eclat. It’s supposed to help dark circles but I am firmly pessimistic. I’ll just end up with an expensive highlighter that does nothing.

I have no idea why Touche Eclat is marketed by so many stores as a dark circle corrector – it’s really intended as a facial highlighter. 😐 My recommendation for under eye circles is Benefit Lemon-Aid. I find it helps to defuse the dark circles better than most most, and it meshes well with other products if you want a concealer over top. (I always recommend setting with a light powder, though, especially if you haves lines under your eyes like I do.)

I’ve always felt the same about the Touche Eclat but last week I was wearing my favourite drugstore bb cream which still surprises me by how full and natural coverage is (Garnier). I realized the secret was it just reflects the light back. Even my blacker than black dark circles almost disappear.
To make them fully go I need just a little bit extra but any other product kills the no makeup look (especially shimmery highlighters) so I’m hoping Touche Eclat will reflect without getting in my lines or being obviously shimmery (There are a couple of people who think my skin is really that good hehe and I’d like to keep that illusion)
Touche Eclat will definitely brighten the area and make it less noticeable, it just won’t…hmm, I guess I would say you can still tell the skin under your eyes is darker than your cheeks, it’s just not SCARY RACCOON EYES OF DOOM anymore, yeah? I found L’Oreal’s drug store knockoff of Touche Eclat (Magic Lumi…pretty much the same product, honestly) works really great for my lid area where I have milder staining than my undereye area. I do like the illuminating effect of Eclat/Lumi, but as I’m an NW10 in the winter, the Benefit product just gives it that little extra kick, y’know? Either way, I think Touche Eclat earns its price tag, I just generally prefer it as a facial rather than undereye highlighter.
I have persistent dark circles due to allergies and YSL Touche Eclat doesn’t have enough coverage for me. I either reach for a full coverage concealer or color correct first. Cancel out the color you don’t want with its complementary color. Benefit Lemon-aid, bc it’s very yellow–would correct dark purple-ish circles. Cancel out blue-ish circles with orange (normally tinted peach/salmon), cancel out reddish circles with green, etc. Blend, blend! Top with a foundation. If I’m too lazy to deal with color-correcting, I reach for a high coverage concealer.
Drugstore options: NYX has lots of color correctors in several formulations. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser for Dark Circles has a couple too.
A bit pricier: MUFE Camoflage palette? Graftobian HD Glamour Creme Palette in Corrector? It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye concealer. Bobbi Brown Corrector. Or Bobbi Brown Concealer.

Haul: I went to an YSL event last night and ended up picking up one of the Glossy Stains and one of the nail polishes from the Spring collection.
Weekend plans: Spending time with friends and getting some cleaning/ laundry done. Although since I’m now working from home, “weekend” is a bit of a loose concept.
Do you love to cook? Absolutely. Preparing our annual Christmas dinner is seriously one of the highlights of my year and having an appreciative audience for a meal makes me glow with pride.

Do you love to cook: Yes, I do and I cook every day. Its just a part of routine now. I pack lunch to work everyday. Same goes for hubby! 🙂
What are your favorite things to watch on Netflix?
Haul: Nothing. I’ve actually been pretty good with not buying anything! However, I’ve currently been eyeing Kiehl’s Cross-Terrain UV Face Protector SPF 50. I need something to protect my face from the nasty wind, snow, and sub-zero temperatures that we’ve been having here in Chicago!
Weekend plans: Work, then watch the Olympics! I’m an Olympics freak. (Funny, since I hate watching sports otherwise, except for NHL hockey.)
Do you love to cook?: Absolutely! I can also bake, though I don’t enjoy it anywhere near as much as I love to cook.
What are your favorite Olympic events?
Haul: Sleek stuff, including the 2 new Blush by 3 palettes, a bunch more La Femme blush pans and an empty palette to put them in, Seche Vite, a WnW colour trio (one of the old ones), theBalm Balm Jovi palette (finally!) and Meet Matte Nude.
Weekend plans: Absolutely nothing! I might just sit on the couch all day 😉
Do I love to cook? Yes, yes I do! Mostly because I really like eating as well. I made peanut brownies yesterday, yum!

Do you love cooking: well don’t love it, but I guess I am use to it, and eating out is not my favorite thing, because of higiene in restaurants can be challenged.

Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover (by far the best out there) which got me a lovely (and surprisingly substantial) makeup bag, sample Advanced Genefique Youth Activating Concentrate, sample Absolue Night Premium Cream, sample Definicils Mascara, full size Creme Radiance Clarifying Facial Cleanser and full size Color Design Lipstick in Intense Fuchsia.
Weekend Plans: What I’ve been doing since the first Polar Vortex appeared, hibernating.
Cooking: Hell no. Except for the love of my life, my Bichon-Maltese mix Munchkin, who gets fresh chicken every day. I look forward every Friday to your weekly picture of Mellan, Christine. He’s such a beautiful dog, and by the looks of the photo above, a very patient one.
Do you do a totally home cooked diet for your dog, Linda?
Oh no. I feed him Purina Pro Plan because I know he needs the correct mix of nutrients that are found in it (but it also is the type that doesn’t have any corn meal or fillers). But he loves his chicken and he gets a half breast in the morning and a half breast in the evening.
Gotcha! 🙂 The only time I cook for Mellan is if he’s sick, then it’s chicken and rise, lol!
Haul: Been going a little crazy lately, just got MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack and the 209 brush and Coastal Scents Palettes Wnterberry, Fall Festival, and Think Pink (received today!) I have on order a set of Sigma brushes (just an eyeshadow set) and some NYX blushes. I also just ordered last night the Coastal Scents Sweetheart deal #2 which is the original 88 palette, a set of 12 brushes, a blush and an eyeliner for $22.95 (seemed like a good deal!) Of course since I despise paying for shipping I had to add on a Revealed Palette and the 6 Contour Blush Palette. They get me with that minimum for free shipping every time!!
Weekend plans: Nothing fun, I have to work the whole weekend.
Do you love to cook? Not in the least! I can microwave, but if it takes more than 6 minutes I have no patience for even that!!
Btw I love the pictures of Mellan! My 90lb Greyhound is also a big lap dog!

Weekend plans: I want to find a few (hopefully free) textbooks about makeup and chemical peels. I’d like to dabble in making my own makeup just for fun, and I’m getting obsessed with chemical peels. 😀
Do you love to cook: Yes, if it has to do with chicken, bacon, or chocolate (not together, lol). I enjoy making bacon and cheese hotdogs in particular. Note: sorry if I blew anyone’s diet just now. xD
What skincare and lipsticks are you considering?
For skincare, I’m thinking about a 0.5% to 1% retinol product (Green Cream or SkinMedica) for the evening, a 10% glycolic acid lotion (likely Alpha Hydrox) for my back and legs, and and a 2% salicylic acid gel (Neutrogena?) for my face in the morning.
For lipsticks, I’m thinking about Bobbi Brown, L’Oreal, and Avon. You probably have a 4 mile-long list of what to swatch next, but if it isn’t too problematic, I’d like to see more Avon swatches sometime. 😉

His first bed I had embroidered, and since we moved to a larger place, he has a huge, full-sized bed in my office (what you’ve probably seen), and so the smaller one is downstairs in the living room!

Plans for weekend: Going into town for an anniversary bash at a nice hotel. Our friends (who’s anniversary it is) are paying for all their guests to stay overnight and for brunch tomorrow at a great restaurant. Bless ’em.
Cooking? Depends on my mood and energy levels. Am currently in rutsville which borders on Boring.

Naked3, some Chanel creme blush, NARS foundation, a TooFaced palette (Chocolate bar – press sample that still counts!!), a Benefit pocket pal and a few other things… Oh, and I ordered a Dior Awakening Blush and the Addict lip reviver from Sephora that I’m waiting on! I told you it was a problem.
Weekend plans: Sleep! And work, which is pretty much the same always.

Haul: Not sure if my Ulta order counts since it was technically last week but… I ordered the Lorac Pro palette and UD Cat fight lipstick. I also made an order from the balm during the 50% off sale; I bought Frat Boy blush, Cabana Boy blush, and Cindy Lou-manizer.
Weekend plans: Studying, writing, and squeezing in a movie or two.
Do you love to cook?: I used to hate it but now that I’ve learned a bit more and experimented, it’s become a lot more fun. I also love knowing I can make anything from scratch and it will always taste a thousand times better than buying some pre-made.

Haul: Just two Wet’n’ Wild Fergie lipsticks from the spring collection – Old School Glam, V.I.Pink. I cut my hair super short and got it dyed today, so that’s where most of my expenses were concentrated. 🙂
Weekend plans: Working night shift for the most part, but a friend’s baby shower is Saturday!
Do you love to cook?: Don’t hate it but don’t love it, either. I like that it saves me money from buying lunch at work, though. 😛
What color did you dye your hair?
Darkest brown, nearly black – close to your hair color, actually! Just a little ash-toned to work with my natural shading. . As a wintery NW10 and red lipstick fanatic, I like the Snow White look. 🙂 (I’d go true blue-black if it wasn’t for my brown eyes…I’m worried it would wash out my features without a lighter eye to contrast. :|)
If you’re already dying your hair, there is a part of me that says why not try black 😉 You can always go back.
I used to dye my hair a deeper, cooler brown (almost violet-tinged), but I haven’t since early college or late high school. Now that it’s all natural, I refuse to dye, lol!

Haul: NYX autoeyebrow pencils (for my mom!), NYX purple correctors, NYX wonder pencil, Coconut oil, and Tweezerman Slant Tweezers. Gosh–those tweezers are totally worth it–esp since I tweeze nearly everyday! Thought tweezerman was all hype until I got the award winning version.
Weekend plans: Purging my books this weekend bc they’re dust traps (highly allergic unfortunately). Going to replace the majority with e-books and just keep the one’s that are more helpful as hard copies like text books, cook books, instruction manuals, picture books. Hmm…I wonder what’s the best way to store these to keep them dust-free til I need them?
Do you love to cook?: I love food in general and cooking is another way to appreciate it. I thought I didn’t at first but I realized I disliked the pressure to impress others with it (total beginner here). I am lucky though bc my dad is a chef so I have a go-to instructor.
