-BITE Beauty Mauvember liquid lip
-Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation
-First Aid Beauty lipbalm, face wash, moisturizing primer, face wash, total hydration cream, and exfoliating pads.
I also picked up a bottle of Bumble and Bumble invisible hair oil as my best friend of 15 years christmas gift!!!
Weekend plans: I’m spending from 8AM saturday morning, to 9pm Monday night in Toronto for work!!! So busy busy busy!!!
Oooh that bite is going to be GORGEOUS on you!
Shannon, I’ve purchased two of those Laneige kits in past because they’re such good value and the products are awesome. It’s hard to get the moisturizing lotion out of the bottle (if you have the same one I do) but I use a Second Cup plastic stirrer and it works perfectly.
Haul: I need to replace my stamp pad and grab an acrylic stamp block. I thought I could without stamp block until I experimented last night.
Weekend plans: Not a thing yet. We will see if that changes.
What’s your favorite board game?: Not really a board game but Cards Against Humanity
Aw he looks so sad! Great gifts for your Mom and hubby!

Weekend plans: Well I’m off today (Hurray! And thank you to our Veterans!) I’ve already been to Bed, Bath & Beyond, TJ Maxx, and Ulta. I have some more errands to run. I also may go look for a new kitchen set and sofa.
What’s your favorite board game?: I’m more into card games. I haven’t played a board game in over 10 years…but probably Monopoly.
You’re welcome! 😉 Also thanks to you I’m ordering the UD brush set, I totally missed that being available. Enjoy your weekend!
You too!
I love the Sephora Collection Almond Foot Mask! And you can use one pair more than once 🙂
They’re fantastic! I use them as part of my Sunday “routine”.
Michelle, I was wondering about the Kat Von D and Urban Decay glitter shadow brushes you bought last week. I would like to buy one, not both, and was wondering if you have a preference?
Tammy, the KVD one has a larger brush head (slightly) than the UD one. The UD one seems to be better for patting on glitter/shimmers and the KVD works better for a more sweeping application. So I’d say it would depend on what you wanted to use the brush for. They’re both good.
Awwwww, Mellan…is that a baby gate?
Haul: Three products that I had run out of: Colourpop Ultra Satin in the shade Dopey, Clinique Mild Liquid Facial Soap, and Clinique Brow Shaper in Charcoaled. Since Macy’s was having a “spend $50 and get $10 back” sale, I added in a Clinique Berry Pop blush to get the special discount.
Weekend plans: Visit family, chores, relaxing, catching up on the TV show Outlander
What’s your favorite board game?: I don’t play board games very often, but I played Say Anything at a girls’ night recently and it was a lot of fun.
Outlander is my husband’s favourite show at the moment. That’s good deal at Macy’s you picked up.
That’s great! The books are considered “bodice-rippers,” so it’s great to see that men can enjoy the storyline, too. They’re doing a fabulous job of bringing the books to life.
HAUL: I bought a cake liner from NYX, it’s called Cake That. It’s a little palette with a black and a warm brown. SO EASY TO USE. I have a fold on my outer corners, so super sharp liquid liners always look wonky on me. I usually use pencils because they’re softer and more forgiving. The cake is SO EASY THOUGH. I use a flat, square edged brush and just stamp it on. Probably takes 30 seconds for both eyes combined. Stays on for over 12 hours with minimal transfer, and I have oily lids that incur a lot of creasing.
WEEKEND: Cleaning 🙁 But also going for an afternoon tea lunch and knickknack shopping 🙂
BOARDGAME: Trivial Pursuit. I have the original version and it’s really hard.
I have the original Trivial Pursuit and I find it a lot easier than the later ones. I have about four or five versions. Maybe it depends on one’s age? 😉
I can never answer the sports questions! I should play again soon and see if I’m any smarter.
Ha! Me neither!
Haul:
Lime Crime Hi-Lite in Unicorns, and free Pumpkin Matte Velvetine. I’m hoping this is my last Lime Crime order for a long time. lol I’ve been buying a lot of their product over the past year. Want to get more Sugarpill with the upcoming sales.
Last weeks VIB Rouge Sale:
MAKE UP FOR EVER Chromatic Mix – Oil Base 13 Blue & Oil Base 12 Yellow. I was trying to get these the past 2 IMAT but hey stopped bringing them.
SEPHORA COLLECTION Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover – 6.76 oz/ 200 mL (ran out of it)
MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Rouge Lipstick in C406 & C302, I could not get in the flash sale.
Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow Doce – 0.10 oz/ 2.8 g.
For this weeks VIB sale I was going to get the Pat McGrath Matte Trance Lipsticks but 1 the shades I wanted were sold out and 2 I remember that I wanted Viseart palettes for years soooooo….
Noy in but Just ordered the Viseart 01 Neutral Matte, 04 Dark Mattes, VPE09 Bijou Royal palettes. I wanted the VPE10 Warm Neutral Mattes but they are not selling it in the Shepora Canada store yet.
Weekend plans: Work and blog.
What’s your favorite board game?: Sorry and Fireball Island. lol
Haul: This is mostly from the sephora sale- Elizabeth & James Warm & Spicey/ Floral Sets, Derek Lam 2 am Kiss travel spray, BeautyBlender Summer fling set, Sephora #10 brush, Belif Holly Hydration set, Drunk Elephant Come C about Me & Hot Date Set, FAB Once Upon A Prime, Smashbox mini primer water, UD Optical Illusion primer, Hourglass Illusion foundation, KVD Lock-it Blotting Powder, Cover FX Blossom & Sunkissed, Huda Angelic & Moody AAAANNND Fenty Gloss Bomb
There shouldn’t be an “on top of that”, but there is due to Sephora cancelling my ND Joya & Aeris palettes order- So I bought that from beautylish…xD
Weekend plans: Hanging with friends and going to see a comedian tomorrow night!
What’s your favorite board game?: I was pretty much raised on weird strategy games- so I have always love odd games- bonanza, fluxx and nuclear war come to mind. But as far as classic board games that I enjoy…Clue and Life just make me so happy!
Haul: I just picked up the new Sigma Chroma Glow palette, and I “un-hauled” (returned) the Wayne Goss #00 brish that I bought because it was not anywhere near as soft as my WGs and much more tapered than expected. First WG brush I have been disappointed with ?
Weekend plans: we are gearing up to have some people over next week and then host Thanksgiving with my family, so lots of cleaning and leaf-blowing!
What’s your favorite board game?: Not a huge board game person, but I have always loved Boggle! And I HATE Monopoly!
You Monopoly comment made me laugh…and is soooo justified…xD
Haul: I have my 1st order for the Sephora sale in my cart: Marc Jacobs Beauty crease brush, Urban Decay Uzi eyeliner, Fenty Beauty Sci-Fly lipstick and foundation brush, Tarte scrub clean cleansing set.
Weekend plans: catch up on all the cleaning I got behind on when I was sick the last 2 weeks. Pick up paint & supplies so next week I can paint the master bedroom & bathroom.
Favorite board game: haha that’s actually tough because I play board games a lot! Probably Sorry (for easy ones) or Betrayal at House on the Hill (for more complicated RP type games).
Haul: Sephora Sale so far – Fresh Sugar Lip Tint in Bloom, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, Dr. Jart Cicapair serum, and Keihl’s Cucumber Herbal toner. I got some stuff for friends and family but they paid me back, it was just for the discount. This weekend I’m hoping to pick up Hourglass Mood Exposure blush and Diffused Light powder. I really want to get the Ethereal Glow blush too but I really don’t need it, the only way I’m justifying Mood Exposure is because I have zero plummy blushes. Blushes and Hourglass cheek/face powder products are my two weaknesses, and combined… disastrous.
Weekend plans: Tonight, I’ve got a Zumba class, then I’m going to karaoke with some friends! Then tomorrow I’m in Central Park for some field stuff (there’s a lot of cool geology in Central Park, believe it or not!), after which my roommate and I are doing a Friendsgiving dinner, and then after that, I’m having a few people over to watch TV. I’ll probably be spending all of Sunday trying to recover.
What’s your favorite board game?: I used to be so into board games when I was a kid, now I’m all about card games! We do a lot of Uno, Cards Against Humanity, and Superfight. But I’d have to say my favorite board game is probably Risk!
LOL at so far. I keep on making orders!!!
Hey, at least I’m self-aware! 🙂
New York is full of great geology in the parks. Have you been to Inwood Hill Park? Not to mention our only source of fall color..
I’ve been a few times with my dad, but that was back when I was little, so I don’t remember anything of the geology! It’s super pretty, though.
The haul: Oh what a haul this week. From the Rouge sale: Fresh pretty in pink gift set, Fresh soy face cleanser, La Neige Lip Sleeping Mask, Sephora eye pencil in Go For a Ride, Sephora Honey Lip Scrub (my fave, re-purchase) Fenty Gloss in Gal on the Moon, Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color in Telluride (I love this formula, this is my second so far), Belif cleansing oil gel enriched, Make Up For Ever Nudes You Need eye palette, Huda Lip Strobe Saucy, Burberry Liquid Velvet Oxblood, CoverFx Custom Enhancer Drop set (the minis), a mini Hourglass mood exposure blush, Bite Mauvember multistick, and I think that’s everything! Sadly, this week has been so busy, I haven’t even had a chance to go through and play with everything yet. Haven’t yet decided what I’m keeping and what I’m gifting, but honestly, most is for me.
Also Paula’s Choice 20% off: the new eye gel, a travel size of the clear spf 30, and a repurchase of Calm serum.
Also a few things from Kiko that have not arrived yet. An eye shadow and a lip gloss from their Arctic Holiday line, and some funny looking face masks.
Weekend plans: girls are coming to my house for a ladies’ night tonight to celebrate one of my best friends’ birthday. Have to tidy up like Cinderella when I get home. Tomorrow, my children are going to perform in a Veterans Day ceremony in our town, and Sunday, we are going to see a friend’s daughter in her school play. And hopefully will finally get a chance to sort through my new stash!
I wouldn’t play many board games if it were up to me, but my son loves them, and Cat Bingo and Dog Bingo are kinda fun. Also Apples to Apples.
Thank you Christine for helping guide all my cosmetic purchasing decisions! You have saved me from countless dollars of what would most likely have been disappointment. Have a great weekend everyone!
Mellan, jailbreak! Happy Birthday to your Mom!
Ok, so this is 2 weeks worth of hauls since I didn’t report in last week.
*Ulta – (almost 70% off, between 20% off coupon and Ulta reward dollars) MAC Snowball –shadows in Stylishly Merry (stunning!) and It’s Snowing (disappointed, mine is lot lighter and cooler, different color than Christine’s), Smoky Pink Eye Bag (gray shadow is gorgeous, pink is weak but workable) , Gold Eye Compact, Rose Gold Eye Compact (will probably return as the colors look boring), lipsticks in Shimmer & Spice (pretty), face powder in Here Comes Joy (subtle but pretty highlight, packaging is stunning). MAC x Nicki Minaj nude lippies in Derriere and Mmmmmm (hmmm, might be returning as the color is hard to pull off), Buxom Metalix Lip Glide in Copper Rose (absolutely stunning, my fave item in this haul, thanks for the rec Michele), L’Oreal Infallible Mini Lip Paints Kit (16 mini lip paints, great deal and super fun to play with)
*Lord & Taylor (15% off) -Teeez Cosmetics Spectrum of Star shadow in Smokey Rose (semi sheer pigment, but beautiful duo chrome), Teeez Serial Lipstain in Enticement, Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Wet/Dry shadow in Naked Gold
*Beautylish (Giftcard event)- Charlotte Tilbury Rock N Kohl Eyeliners in Barbarella Brown, Veruschska Mink, Marlene Midnight – I got some last year in LE colors, they are bulletproof on my super oily lids, so wanted to try more colors, $20 gift card went towards CT Airbrush Flawless Face powder
*Sephora (20% off) -Stila Eye For Elegance Liquid Eyeshadow Set, Pat McGrath PermaGel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil in Black Coffee, Too Faced Just Peachy Velvet Matte Peaches & Cream shadow kit, Tom Ford Lips & Girls in Gala, Kat Von D Lock It Edge Concealer Brush, Fenty Beauty Cheek Hugging Highlighter Brush, LM Eye Basics (in Wheat and Linen), LM Matte Caviar Stick (Blossom and Vanilla Kiss), Sephora Collection shadow in Secret Boudoir, ABH DipBrow Pomade in Dark Brown, ABH Brow Powder Duo in Brunette/Dark Brown, LM Translucent Loose Setting Powder Kat Von D Lock It Brightening Powder (Golden), Kat Von D Lock It Precision Powder Brush , Sephora Brow Gel, PTR 40% Triple Acid Peel (re-purchased), PTR Acne Clear Invisible Dots, Verb Ghost Oil (re-purchased), Reward Freebies ( KS Warrior Moisturizer+Serum), FAB Coconut Skin Smoothing Primer, Sunday Riley CEO C+E Cream
*ColourPop – pressed shadows in Glass Bull (stunning!! reflects light well), and Koi
*Weekend–OMG, have tons of makeup to sort, swatch, test, and put away. Also need to get haircut
*Board Game – have never been a big fan of them or maybe I wasn’t playing the right ones
Mellan in jail? Naw, never! But corralled? Probably!
Haul: Yay! My Sephora order arrived early this week! Have had 2 opportunities to play with my new Lila Palette. Beautiful colors and a very different formula. Very silky and more pearly than regular shimmer, as they almost look like satin? Cloth, not finish.
Also bought Fenty Astro-Naughty lip gloss and a new Sephora Contour Pencil in Go For A Ride, because my old one lost its cap and dried up.
Weekend plans: Where to begin??? My kitchen sink is jammed up and even drain cleaner won’t budge it! So my weekend has me stressing because our property manager is out of town and doesn’t like anyone to call her on weekends! OG plans now feel all up in the air. I was going to finally t/up my roots today as there is too many white hairs showing.
Favorite board game: It’s been way too long since I last played one that I liked! I only know that I hate playing Monopoly because it can drag out for hours.
How annoying about your sink Nancy! It’s really one household item that is needed all the time. I hope you can get a plumber in to fix it over the weekend.
Haul:
KVD Saint and Sinner Palette. MAC Gold Bag with Whisper of Gilt. MAC Stay By Me Pro Longwear Blush from Poshmark. I’m sad the Pro Longwear Blushes are seemingly discontinued : (
Weekend plans : saying no to VIB Sephora sale
Favorite board game : Always loved Trivia Pursuit!
Erica, If I could have only purchased one item for the Sephora sale, it would have been the KVD Saint and Sinner palette. I can’t get past the Heaven/Revelation combo (I put Revelation on outer 1/2 of mobile lid, Heaven on inner half of mobile lid, mix Amen and Martyr or Amen and Devil for transition, deepen the outer V and line under my lower lash line with Sanctuary, Smoke out lower lash line with Martyr or Devil, and pop a touch of Absolution for inner eye highlight). This look is just so perfect for fall. And Chalice may be the best sparkling taupe I’ve ever seen! Relic and Stigmata look fantastic together too (Relic inner 1/2 of lid and Stigmata outer one half of lid, with Exorcism under lower lash line). I hope you enjoy this palette as much as I do mine!
I really do like it! I’m wearing Immaculate and Heaven as I type this:) I have enjoyed revelation paired with chalice. Really love sacred heart too. I really love how you can go pretty out there with a look but still really create pretty everyday looks too. Find it funny the criticism it is getting bc of its layout. It hasn’t been an issue with me and I like how it reflects a stained glass window. I’ve been using this solely for a week and I have been so inspired. Unless one is a neutral eyeshadow only type of person, I say run out and get it before it’s gone. I love it!
Haul: I actually have quite a few things to report! I’ve been a good little consumer on the capitalist wheel… I got my Bite Mauvember and 100 point perks today, I got a NARS PM, SR CEO Cream, Buxom Lip Cream, and Bite Chutney. They forgot my samples again, the rat bastards. I ordered before VIB/R sale too! My VIBR sale haul is on the way which has SR Power Couple, DE Volume 2 and a few 100 point samples. It also contains my first gift of the season, I got my sis a Farmacy kit! She LOVES my Honey Drop Moisturizer so I’m getting the set for her. Between the two of us, mine is 2/3 gone, I probably should have gotten one for me too lol. Luckily, Michele is sending me her Rag and Bone sample to save the day cause I was bummed I didn’t get mine!
Weekend plans: My husband decided he’s entertaining this weekend. So I have people coming over tonight and a movie tomorrow. Hopefully, my ankle can take the excitement. We also need to food shop.
My favorite board game: OH SO MANY! My fave is Settlers of Catan with the Cities and Knights expansion. I’m also a fan of many others though. I mean there are so many and I love board games with friends!
I totally forgot I got the Tarte mini lippies and TF Seadragon in the sale haul!
Great gifts for your sister and I hope your ankle gets better. Food shopping must be hard for you do with it being sore.
Haul: This is my favorite time of year for BEAUTY! This year, I have been much more selective in my purchases throughout the year because I go CRAZY with all of the beauty sales and deals. So let’s see
Beautylish: Since the spend $100 and get a $20 gift card special rolled around, I restocked by Becca Luminous Foundation. I mix it with so many foundations because I love the finish it gives my skin. I also decided to try the Ordinary Serum foundation. It is less than $7, so why not? I got the ABH prism palette, so stinkin’ pretty but I haven’t gotten a chance to play with it yet because you know…LIFE! haha I also decided to try a new primer, Finisher HA Blur Hylamide. It looked cool because it has hyaluronic acid and is supposed to balance out the skin.
Sephora (three different orders-ShameLESS, lol)-I got two of the Buxom Lip Creams since they were only $10-Moscow Mule and Purple Haze, some Sephora Exfoilating Wipes ( I like these for fall and winter), restocked my MUFE Pro Finish powder, decided on the Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions palette ( it was between that and the Mauve), Fenty Beauty Trio Sticks in Deep, Huda Beauty lip contour set in Vixen and Famous, and a Smith Menthol and Eucalptyus lip balm
Had some HSN Cash from returns: Skin & Co Facial Duo (Cleansing Oil and Toner)-super excited to try, two of the Lorac Holiday sets (a lipstick one with the darker colors) and one with a blush and Light Source Highlighter, and my beloved Korres Wild Rose serum and overnight facial.
Still deciding on an ELF Haul since they are doing 50% off today!!
Weekend Plans: Hanging out with my boyfriend and my brother. We will find something fun to get into!
Board Game: Candy Land, I suppose. I work with 1st and 2nd graders and this is the one that they always pick when they come into my office.
Love that ‘shameLess’ comment – nope – you’re not – just taking advantage of good sales to stock up. It’s called ‘being prudent”!
Haul: Let’s see if I can remember this week’s! I just came back from Sephora with ABH Metal eyeshadow and a new bottle of my Boscia facial cleanser. At Saje (I think Saje must be Canadian), I picked up Sweet Sheets Linen Spray, a roller ball of Yoga fragrance and an empty glass spray bottle into which to put my Shiseido Eudermine Essence (the bottle it comes in is so pretty but so stupidly impractical); earlier this week, I picked up 4 other ABH shadows – Venice, Chocolate (Titanium), Vermeer and Tiger’s Eye) as well as Josie Maran’s Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment Serum. I also picked up Farmacy’s Sleep Tight Balm but that might have been part of last week’s haul. I’m planning to hit up the other Sephora to get IT’s Bye Bye Undereye Illumination concealer.
Weekend plans: visiting with a friend who’s back in town; going to the gym tomorrow and also to the Cenotaph for Remembrance Day ceremonies and going to the Sephora that has the full range of IT products.
Favourite board game – no question – it’s SORRY! We still love playing it with a friend of mine and the kids (friend has no children and just loves playing Sorry with my kids, who are now all adults but she’s played it with them since they were kids and when she’s here visiting, she’s always eager to play Sorry with any of the kids who happen to be home.
The ABH quad happened! High five, GF! (I’m checking out your colors!)
Well, it was a “quint” so “high FIVE” is rather apt. I do wish they made a 6 or 8 well empty palette. The 4 pans are actually really nice and generally pretty perfect until you end buying one or 2 more shadows! I think I might put them all into a Z palette.
A Z palette or equivalent is needed. My daughter and I picked out some ABH singles. I picked out Tigers Eye, Pink Champagne, Electro and Ballet. I think my daughter picked more basic shades like Birkin. Really love ABH as a brand! There’s way more singles online which is tempting 🙂
I grabbed Pink Champagne literally the moment ABH became available in Canada. The display wasn’t even up in the store yet but I called my local Sephora, they checked their shipment and dug one out for me and put it aside. It’s another reason I don’t have the ABH shadows in multiples of 4!!! I think I’ve got 10 or 11 shadows!
Pink Champagne is gorgeous and it’s usually sold out at Sephora and Ulta. I grabbed it when I saw it in stock!
I know – and it’s with good reason. Before the ABH single shadows were sold here but after I missed out on the Self-Made palette (that contained Pink Champagne), I got the counter tester from the SA at Sephora and wandered all around the store looking for a dupe, figuring there had to be something close but there really wasn’t anything that came close at all.
Haul: Today is Sephora 20% for VIB so I’m going in to get more Clinique foundation in the color clove, rebuy fav Smashbox lipstick in Cognac, Benefit eye grow gel, rebuy a Boscia Konjac sponge and I really think I might buy Derek Lams Rainy Day fragrance, it’s such an amazing scent especially for me and my allergies to most perfumes and colognes. I won’t be getting much from Sephora as I am waiting for Raye Royces collab with Bh Cosmetics. I like her so I am going to support and buy the entire collection because it looks beautiful. I am looking into some new brushes…IT brushes looks great and affordable so I may pick up something.
I recently purchased a PUR Cosmetics palette by Etienne Ortega. Never tried PUR but it’s so pretty. Haven’t really delved into the palette yet. I picked up Ciate London Chloe Morello II (don’t know who this person is but I thin kit’s a MUA collab?) set with a palette, full liner, deluxe liquid lipstick and mascara. Nice palette, great colors and payoff and best black liner thus far. Didn’t care for lippie and clunky mascara. I also picked up Jaclyn Hill Morphe palette and a 25A palette. Never tried Morphe before but I really like the palettes. I got ABH Prism and that thing went right back to the store – didn’t work for me at all, very powdery with no vibrancy.
Weekend plans: Tomorrow is 11/11 and marks 6 years since my moms death. I usually take this day off work if working and just relax and mourn. I do have a massage scheduled, don’t know how I’m going to do being outside on this day but I plan to get through it. Other than that, clean and play with makeup.
What’s your favorite board game?: Scrabble UpWords. It’s a version of scrabble where you can stack the words. I’ve been playing myself in this game for over 15 years LOL and I don’t cheat my selves either, I play by the rules. I like word games because they challenge you to really use your vocabulary.
I hope that you have a peaceful and reflective day on the anniversary of your mum’s passing. I am sure she would be proud of you.
I love scrabble and word games too. Word games and trivia is my jam!
Patticake says: “Aha! It isn’t just the bitches that are wrongfully imprisoned!” She got sentenced to another month of crate rest, but is doing far better at standing and sitting. (And trying to rip the clear plastic tape off the crate bars. I found a tooth in the washer. Haul: Sephora is pending. Guess they are restocking. Beautylish came, with the WG eye set, MA concealer (like it, there’s just a tad of corrector) 2 Ordinary foundations…one is wrong, by reading the box…will call or email. It’s no KGD, but at least is not too yellow, and quite skin like (the serum one.). Sugarpill subterranean for me; never tried SP shadow. Quite impressed. Kitten Parade for a cat lover, who has red hair and likes her only HE palette, N3. Plans: work night job, Patticare, drive people around some more. Did my first food shopping in a month already. Dog crisis is the worst. Getting out winter coats, etc, as it dropped at least 30 degrees, and there’s a wind chill. Gotta love 65 and 32 in the same week! No longer play board games, but liked clue, when young. Always a crime fan, now addicted to investigation discovery.
I’m glad to hear you’re going to take a break! Enjoy your visitors!
Haul:

Point perks: First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer and NEST Black Tulip. Various samples.
*Nyx.com — Luv Out Loud Liquid Lipstick in Fearless, Brave, Passionate and Extraordinary; Slide On Lip Pencil in Live in Pastel.

Weekend plans: We were planning to see Thor: Ragnorak, but my sons might be coming down with colds. If so, we’ll hold off. Other than that, I’m working on researching and writing articles and doing paperwork. My first piece for deardarkling.com is coming out Tuesday, so I’m trying to keep busy and not dwell on being nervous.
What’s your favorite board game?: I don’t have one.
French Grey sounds intriguing!
It really is. It has musk and lavender, but it doesn’t have that musty smell that combo can sometimes give scents. It’s lighter and has lots of white floral and a little citrus to it. It surprised me.
I want to try that out! I’ve seen mixed reviews so I was wary, but Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon is really the only perfume I’ll use, so I know that I like some of their other stuff. Those notes sound really nice.
I love the ABH Prism palette. The Elizabeth and James Amethyst is on my wishlist. French Gray is too floral for me and my allergies lol E&J has some of my favorite scents!
I originally wanted Amethyst, but it doesn’t work on me. It smells amazing till I put it on my skin. My body chemistry makes it smell like I’m a Cinnabon employee with a bad cigarette habit.
French Gray surprised me by smelling fantastic, but yes it’s very floral.
I love that analogy Rachel, LOL!
Isn’t that funny about scents? I don’t get that vibe from amethyst but I do prefer woodsy, warm scents. Florals all smell bad hairspray to me and as I tell my daughter, I like flowers but my nose doesn’t always:) Anyhoo, Elizabeth and James is my favorite perfume brand. Black Nirvana and Nirvana Bourbon are my go tos!
Kind of bummed bc “French Gray” sounds so romantic to me!
Bourbon is my very favorite, with Black next. Yes, it really interesting how scents can smell one way on one person, and totally different on another.
Haul: I can’t recall what I bought last week vs this week so I’ll just list everything (because there are All The Sales going on!):
MAC – I am finally, after all the years of buying makeup (including MAC), FINALLY starting my own palette. I bought the 15 pan and a few shadows – Woodwinked, Shroom, Handwritten, Patina, Oh My Mocha!, and Antiqued.
Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon, Clinique Mega Melon and Surprise lippies, bought/replaced 6 MAC lippies – Brick-o-la, Fresh Moroccan, Touch, Viva Glam I, Dubonnet, Hot Tahiti. Givenchy Coral Frenzy, Jo Malone Mimosa Cardamom and Oak Redcurrant colognes, NARS Cordura duo, backup of Laura Mercier Black Cherry glace, E and J Nirvana Rose gift set, Aveda Brilliant shampoo, NARS And God Created the Woman palette, Bite Agave lip mask, Tom Ford Wood Oud beard oil backup (it’s for the man but damn it works so well in my dry hair), Smashbox Cognac lipstick, Anastasia Warm Bronze lipgloss, Tatcha Kyoto Red gloss. Getting ready to push the button on the UD Brush set. OH, also randomly picked up a couple pieces of clothing from Target…they have all the smoked Autumn colors out…I want it all!
Weekend plans: Painters are finished so we’ll be putting the house back together. Walls look amazing though, totally worth it.
What’s your favorite board game?: Sorry, because my son and I have our own weird rules when we play our “Sorry Annihilation” version. 😉 I also love Clue.
Shroom, Patina and Antiqued are some of my favorite MAC singles! ! I also really loved Amber Lights & Rule this summer!
Mellan be all like, “Can I post bail with a kiss?”
Haul:
Nothing interesting to report from the Sephora sale to date. I have tried and tried to want this and that. Went to the store to check out eye palettes from Nars, ND, Huda — nope. Was desperate to love Dior’s Rosy Glow blush — didn’t. Nothing grabbed me. So I only stocked up on staples:
* EL Double Wear Foundation in Ivory Beige and Wheat. Mixing them works great for me.
* MJ Gel liners in Blaquer and Earthquake
* MUFE setting spray — maybe my 15th bottle? lol
* Givenchy lipstick in Brun Createur — maybe my 15th bullet of this shade. 🙂
* Shiseido facial cottons
Weekend:
My digital launch slated for last Monday will probably be this coming Tuesday. They call all this technology “progress.” It’s a giant PITA. The project is amazing, but glitches in this and that will have me working a lot this weekend — AGAIN.
Board Games:
Does Boggle count? I luuuuurrve scram-bly word games like that. I play Boggle on my phone all the time. Anyone into it? Hit me up on the Boggle app at lpatchery. 🙂
I also love backgammon. My husband taught me when I was 19, and we have played through the years ever since.
Mellon’s like a little child at the gate! So cute.
Haul: My birthday is coming next week, so I have requested perfumes this year. It has been quite a lot of fun narrowing down exactly what perfumes (sizes and prices) that I love the most. I only get Eau De Parfums. I am aiming for: Lancome’s Poeme, D & G The One Essence, YSL Ypresse, Coach, EL Beautiful and Van Cleef and Arpels First and Oriens.
Weekend Plans: Saturday will be spent just doing housework, but Sunday I will be going to an afternoon tea at my daughter in law’s grandmother’s house, which should be lovely.
Another task we have to do this weekend is getting Lachlan’s dummy out of our surround sound speaker box. He ‘posted’ it in the air hole yesterday – as a joke, but it went right into the box and now we have to dismantle it to get it out. He loves his ‘nana’ (as in banana) as he calls it – quite confusing sometimes, and I had to take him into the local shopping centre to get him a new one. He was quite dismayed when we tried to explain to him (21 months old) that we couldn’t get it out!
Favourite board game: We don’t really play board games, but when the kids were little we had a stack: Journey Through Europe, Uno card game and a few others were favourites.
By the way Christine, I hope you have a lovely time with your relatives and take some time off to relax. Enjoy your weekend.
Have a wonderful birthday!
Everything is finally in, so this really covers this week and last.
Nordstrom – Clé de Peau Holiday palette and eye crayon set, CdP Brilliant Enhancer (free gift), Armani Mia Milano (Nordstrom exclusive), Tom Ford Sugar Glider lipstick and La Mer holiday lip balm.
Armani – Mia Milano lipstick (501), LE Lip Magnets in Androgino (508) and Romania (509).
Sephora – Natasha Denona Lila palette and Tom Ford lip oil in Bitten Berry.
Weekend Plans – headed to a wedding tomorrow.
Favorite Board Game – probably Clue. I love a murder mystery!
Have a wonderful weekend Christine! Enjoy the time spent with your family 🙂
Haul: Sephora 20% (these are hauls for this week and the last one): DE Vol. 3 Let’s Dew It, Clarisonic Replacement Brush (Sensitive), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light, Guerlain KissKiss Matte Lipstick in Crazy Nude (M307), Biossance Squalane Superstars (I’ve already purchased in the past the Eye Cream and I loved it so much), Marc Jacobs Matte Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in (Earth)quake, Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencils in Meritage and Amarone, Huda Beauty Contour & Strobe Lip Set (Trophy Wife/Shameless), Sephora Almond Foot Mask (5).
Weekend plans: Lots of cleaning, studying, cooking. The temperatures dropped all of sudden here in the Montreal area. Yesterday there were +6C; today, they dropped to -16C with the wind factor.
What’s your favorite board game? I haven’t played one in more than fifteen years. I had a favorite one when I was a kid but I can’t remember its name (it’s an European board game).

All but the Tatcha products are gifts for the holidays.
Weekend Plans: My daughter and I are attending a Harvest/Craft Festival in Kalispell and then going into Glacier National Park for a few hours. I haven’t been into the park since the terrible fires this summer so want to see how much damage was done. I know they lost a very old chalet in the mountains called, “Sperry Chalet” and they were fearful that they would lose the lodge at Lake MacDonald which they were luckily able to save. Not sure we will get far as they have had snow already and they don’t maintain the roads that well but we will try.
Favorite board game: Don’t have one. When I was little my family, (Mom, Dad and us 3 kids) would play Monopoly. My Dad and brother cheated like crazy so us girls stopped playing with them. We played Scrabble but since my favorite past time was reading encyclopedia’s/dictionaries my family stopped wanting to play that. Same with Boggle. So about the only thing I do now that is a “game” is Sudoku and I try to do at least 15-20 per day to keep my brain functioning, LOL.
Haul:
Sephora:
Pat McGrath Luxetrance lipsticks Sextrology and Tropicalia – I still can’t believe I bought these. I’d overpaid on my card and had a credit, so I took that as a sign. I love the look of the bullet and the texture and finish. The sale was the deciding factor here – I would not have purchased otherwise because normally I like to keep to just my HG brands. These look so luxe – I’m excited!
Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing bar
Tom Ford Waterproof Foundation in Natural (6) – I wanted to get Traceless Perfecting in this shade but it is currently sold out. I think it will actually work out better because this can be a mix-in for all my other foundations that are a hair too light or that I want to bump up the coverage a bit. I don’t see using this by itself, though – I like a sheer to medium-plus coverage at most, especially with a matte foundation.
Weekend plans: Cooking, cleaning and laundry and then visiting with my sister, brother-in-law and nephew while they are in town. Hopefully I’ll be able to cook with my Dad for Sunday dinner.
What’s your favorite board game? Way back when, it used to be ‘Risk’, but I haven’t played that in 20 or so years. I liked that it was strategic and that it could last over an extended period of time. It didn’t matter if you won or lost because it was the type of game (for me) that kept your interest; I always felt like I was learning as I was playing.
Hope you have a nice visit with your family and some well deserved time away from work.
Haul (2 weeks): Sephora 20% off – NIOD Fractionated Eye Contour Concentrate, Huda Maybe palette, & Tom Ford Ines lipstick; Beautylish gift card event – Wayne Goss brushes 10, 11, 12 & 19, and Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish Face Powder; Nordstrom – MAC Smokey Pink Eye Bag and makeup remover (gifts).
Weekend Plans: Home visiting family and friends. Lots of hockey and football to watch this weekend…and maybe a board game!
Fave board game: I come from a family that loves playing board games!! Favourites are Chinese Checkers, any incarnation of Monopoly (with modified rules to extend the game), Connect Four and Backgammon.
Haul: My big purchase was new glasses. Red wire frames and they are round. Also Koh Gen Do Maifashi moisture foundation in shade 123, ColourPop supershock blush in Bardot [thank you all for this recommendation], 500 point perk Tarte Amazonian Clay minis (blush in Concept, Park Avenue Princess bronzer, finishing powder, mascara, and a card of foundation samples), Too Faced Is My Life mini kit from Ulta (Better Than Sex mascara, a mascara remover, Chocolate Soleil bronzer, Hangover Primer, Melted Matte lipstick, Lavanila deodorant, mini Real Techniques sponges, and travel size Living Proof Timeless shampoo and conditioner.
Week-end plans are nothing special. Usual grocery shopping and hanging around. I am going to Sephora to check out the Huda Beauty mauve shadow palette.
I haven’t played a board game in years. At one point it would have been Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit.
The deodorant, sponges and hair stuff obviously were not part of the Too Faced knit. I should not use parentheses since I forget to close them. I was $49 away from Ulta Platinum so I went for it.
CP Bardot is stunning!!
Haul: it is my birthday month, so I‘ve been treatig myself. Got two blushes by Armani (306 and 500) and Diorshow mascara and Dior Lash Maximizer. Feel a bit bad about it since I have been trying to reduce my spending.
Weekend plans: work and family time.
Favorite board game: checkers or card games
Haul: Just placed an order for the Fenty Beauty highlighting brush and the universal gloss (probably wouldn’t have gotten the brush if it wasn’t for the sale, but I’m excited to try it). I also got binder and a preservative to give pressing loose pigments a try. After a very frugal Black Friday (I only plan on getting the new Melt Cosmetics stack), I won’t be getting much for the next few months since I just paid for my study abroad trip to Mexico this summer!
Weekend plans: I spent all of Friday off from work and school, so my boyfriend and I cooked a huge breakfast for each other (chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, eggs, bananas, and tea). Today I studied, and tomorrow I’m going to see Fiddler on the Roof on campus!
Favorite board game: It’s not a board game, but Cards Against Humanity. If it HAS to be a board game though, it’s a tie between Scrabble and Monopoly. Side note: my adult self recently became reacquainted with Candy Land and man oh man is that game BORING. My inner future parent is already groaning at the prospect of my hypothetical child wanting to play it constantly like I did (mom and dad, I’m sorry).
