Haul: The new WnW foundation and powder. 30% off at Rite Aid plus $1 off coupon 😀
Weekend plans: Running around and doing last minute stuff before I leave for vacation on Sunday!
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately?: BSB…getting ready for that residency life 😉
How do you like the new Wet ‘n’ Wild foundation?
I purchased it today, so I’ll let you know the next time I post in a free for haul 🙂
Haul:
Blue Mercury (15% off): Oribe Masque for Beautiful Color. 4 days after my order I received an email saying the item was out of stock and they were issuing a refund. Surprisingly, they still shipped the 6 free samples which I didn’t really want anyway.
Fragrance.net (35% off): Shalimar 1.7 oz (set with maxi lash mascara), Thierry Mugler Angel Eau Sucree 2015 Limited Edition 1.7 oz
Lucky Scent: 9 fragrance samples
Neiman Marcus (Used $50 gift card): Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick (Lilac Belt 069), Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lipshine (208 Roman). Arrives today.
Saks: Viktor&Rolf Magic Liquid Diamonds Eau de Parfum. Arrives today (but I had won a sample of this and loved it).
Saks (10% off): Clarins 4 Color All In One Pen. Arrives next week.
Sephora: L’Artisan Parfumeur Coffret Miniatures Gift Set
Ulta (20% off): Nyx Vivid Brights Crème Color (Glam Rock, Pillow Talk), Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System Brush Heads, Fromm (1907 Glosser Paddle Brush, 1907 Copper Thermal Brush, 1907 Hot Paddle Brush), Wigo Round Wooden 100% Boar Bristle Brush, EL Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Makeup (1N1 Ivory Nude), EL Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Brightening Serum + Concealer, Too Faced Peanut Butter and Honey Palette (Swatches posted early this morning on my IG and Twitter).
As you probably guessed, my makeup stash is like the cosmetic department at Harrods! My new goal is to create a fragrance wardrobe. I’m working on trying to educate myself about scent and the industry.
Weekend plans: I have a hair appointment early tomorrow morning. The rest will depend on how long the rain holds off.
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately? I usually change up my music so really a bit of everything.
I love mini fragrance sets! They’re so cute!
Nice perfume haul Michele, Shalimar and Angel are classics! I love Lucky Scent they have a great sample program since most of their fragrances aren’t easy to find in stores. I had to stop buying perfumes, I need to use up my large collection. I didn’t know Sephora carried L’Artisan perfumes. I wear L’ Artisan’s Vanille Absolument and Nuit De Tubereuse parfums.
Thanks. LS seems to have a nice selection of niche fragrances and their pricing isn’t too bad for samples. I was shocked to see that Sephora carried L’Artisan as well! Honestly I had realized I hadn’t browsed through their sale section in a while and that’s the only reason I even found them.
Aaah, it’s Mellan, must be Friday!
*Haul- 20% off Ulta Platinum –Lorac Brunch palette, NYX Vivid Bright Creme Colour in Sugar Rush (pastel lilac) and Endless Sky (pastel blue)–these will be delivered today. As you can see, I’m on a pastel kick!
*Reporting back on the Revlon Colorstay Creme shadows in pastel shades of pink, green, and lilac–these are very sheer, and they don’t dry down on my lids, maybe it’s my primer IDK, so they will crease unless I set them with a powder shadow, but once I do, they last all day, and the shimmery effect is quite pretty, so will keep
*Weekend – work on Sat, then chores on Sun 🙁
*Album – no albums, just whatever’s on the radio
How will you wear your pastels, Katherine?
Unless I’m testing multiple shades, I rarely do rainbow lids, prefer to keep it to 1 color family. For inner 1/3 lid, I will do a shimmery lilac pastel cream base, topped with shimmery lilac powder shadow, then a slightly darker matte lilac shade on rest of lid. I think the pastels make my dark hair/brown eyes pop, then I’ll use a dark purple eye liner on my upper lash line.
That’s going to look amazing on you!
Thanks! Yes, I loved the look !
Mellan breaks it to you gently!
Haul: Last night NARS Aragon lipgloss arrived and I love it. I’m wearing it today with Thessalonique and one of the blushes from the NARS Unfiltered I palette. I even have NARS Luminous Weightless Foundation on–can you tell I love NARS?
Ulta 20% off: Cerave Facial Moisurizer (for my husband), UD Naked Illuminizer in Lit (daughter), two IT Cosmetics CC creams in medium (one for me, one for daughter), Rita Hazan Root Concealer, CovergirlColorliscious Lip Color in Bombshell Pink, UD Vice lipsticks in Spiderweb, Disturbed and Heroine (all for daughter),Too Faced Hangover Primer (I love it so much I bought one for my daughter), NYX Mechanical Lip Pencil in Nude Pink, and NYX Slide On Eye Pencil in Pretty Violet.
Weekend plans: Get my hair done, go on a date with husband, and organize my clothes. It’s time to put all the dark fall and winter clothes away and pull out spring colors.
No CD on rotation at this time. I am loving the Blood Orange track Best To You featuring Empress Offense and Smerz new track Because.
Aragon! Such a pretty color 🙂
A one-brand look! Those are fun to do.
Haul: Rimmel Nude lip liner, Wet n Wild PhotoFocus foundation
Weekend plans: catch up on schoolwork 🙂
Where do you but your groceries? Does Mr. Tech Guy go with you? My husband insists grocery stores make his feet hurt and head feel light ? Lol! Also, are weekends more relaxed for you? I feel like you never quit! ❤
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately?: NeedtoBreathe’s Hard Love & Starfield’s Starfield (from 2004!)
How is the new Wet ‘n’ Wild foundation, Joyce?
Since my husband and I both work from home, we basically are together 24/7, lol. So, yes, we go together, haha!
Every day is about the same, to be honest! Weekends and holidays just mean less emails (I often forget there’s a holiday until I see how empty in my inbox is!), but I usually do the same as I would any other day!
Wow – I’ve never heard that excuse before – grocery shopping makes his feet hurt and head feel light! That’s good one! My husband hardly ever goes supermarket shopping because he puts all kinds of things in the trolley and it ends up being twice as expensive as when I do it.
I ran out of my nyc sunny bronzer (now discontinued), and the tarte bronzer in my off the cuff bronzer palette 🙁 I am legit out of contour and bronzer.
Haul: I just ordered a custom Anastasia contour kit from the website. I am so out of the loop I didn’t even know you could pick your own colors for the palette for the same price as the premade. No one ever talks about the custom colors! My boyfriend okayed the purchase. LOL. He was like. “No you need it, you don’t have any, just buy it.”
I am so glad he understands me LOL.
I ordered the powders, Vanilla, Banana, Champagne, Macchiato, Cream Soda, and Nutmeg,
Weekend Plans: Nothing much, I work weekends.
Music I have on repeat lately: anything by In this Moment.
The Tarte off the Cuff Palette came out like 4 years ago, blushes still going strong. Bronzer is just now totaled. I hope my Anastasia lasts that long. lol. Also I used up my Too Faced Milk Chocolate Bronzer too. When you finish a makeup item it is so gratifying, and yet so sad at the same time.
I’m almost out of my Revlon colorstay foundation, and my Clinique 2 in 1, I also do not have anymore face powder so next week probably will be a drugstore haul 😛
What will you replace your bronzer with, Lacey?
Hoping one of the Anastasia powders I got will suffice, other than that I am sure I can find something good. If anyone has anyone has any good bronzer recommendations from the drugstore I would appreciate it. I am trying to keep my makeup purchases only to the essential, and on the more inexpensive end lately.
I am just now going to get around to trying the Loreal Pro Matte foundation. If anyone has an opinion on that too, I would love to hear.
Not sure what kind of color tone you like in your bronzer but you can def find something good at the drugstore or for drugstore price. Nyx has the same fill your own contour kit thing, so they have a ton of options. Check their blush line for bronzy colors too. Only thing is their in-store displays are often brief so you may need to order. For bronzers physically at the drugstore, there are well respected ones by Rimmel, Physicians Formula, Wet n Wild (they run reddish), and just today I saw some new ones on the Milani stand that looked very tempting.
I actually ended up ordering a No7 bronzer in caramel, new item on Ulta.com, barely found any info on it but for the price I thought I would try it, for the price I figured I’d give it a shot, always wanted to try some No7.
Thank you 🙂
Haul: I think I am actually going to un-haul my BECCA Prismatic Amethyst 🙁 It’s pretty, but it is not purple (or lavender, or lilac) and it’s also not prismatic. It’s just a shimmery pink highlight and I’m more than a little disappointed. Fortunately the Kevyn Aucoin Limelight IS purple and I am loving that one! So I will still be glowing violet come spring 🙂
Weekend plans: Our warm spell has ended (luckily we got a state park day-trip in during the week!) and the weather is going to be nasty, so I’m going to stay inside and clean. My office really needs a good once-over.
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately?: Not an album, but I’ve been turning on the “Indie Pool Party” Pandora station while I’m cleaning and crafting at home – it’s really fun!
Hey, if you don’t love it, it’s too expensive to just let it sit in your stash!
I thought the Becca was disappointing too! It’s not terrible, just not the shade it’s supposed to be. Good to hear you love the KA one. I have it saved in a few shopping carts and am just waiting for a good deal to pull the trigger! When you use the KA, do you swipe it together or are you using it by shade intensity?
Yes! Definitely not a bad product, just… not as advertised. FYI, I ended up getting my Limelight at 20% off through Spring (that’s the name of the site) because it was my first purchase with them – plus, free shipping/ no tax! I’ve been using a fan brush to pick up single shades – that way I have a better idea of exactly what color I’m getting 🙂 The left-most side of the palette is great for eye highlights too, just a pretty ivory pearl. And more importantly, the right side really is a true lavender!
Thanks Julia! I went to Spring and signed up but did not get the discount. Went to the shopping cart and not only was Spring charging me tax, they were charging too much tax for where I live! (Interesting as it also said the KA was shipped by Barneys who, if I order directly from them, do not charge me tax and are a 1 day shipment to me. Oh well.
I found the code just through a quick web search, I think it was spring20? But it did say it would ship through Barney’s (and it did) – which I do not understand but I’ll take it ?
Correction: The order went through Kevyn Aucoin even though I placed it on Spring, not Barney’s. Also, the code I used was LOVE20, so 2 strikes for me!
Thank you!
I was tempted to buy that highlighter but since my Anastasia Moon child palette has a pretty purple highlighter I skipped it. I love a pink highlighter though, maybe I’ll check it out in store.
I actually found it fairly similar to Pink Heart from Moonchild! There’s really nothing purple about it.
Okay thanks, easy skip then.
In all fairness to Becca, if you apply it and photograph it with a flash while tilting your head sideways, you can see a faint and subtle pale lavender undertone to the pink. This most likely only occurs when the moon is full however. 😉
Haul: Urban Decay Afterdark palette
Weekend plans: A lie-in, followed by domestic chores, and going to work.
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately? : Reinventing Hell – The Best Of Pantera.
Have you had a chance to use the Afterdark palette, Caroline?
I’ve used some of the shades, and I love em!
I love vivid eye colours so I wear them during the day as well as in the evening. Fringe is my current favourite as it really makes my eyes ‘pop’ (very important as I wear glasses and sometimes my eyes can get ‘lost’).
Haul: Benefit Hoola bronzer, this is my first time trying it and I’m wearing it to work today and I love it! Three Maybelline mascaras: plush lash, the falsies push up effect, and the colossal big shot. Also purchased a bunch of Paul Mitchell hair products from their line for curly hair.
Weekend Plans: have a church dinner tonight, and probably just relaxing over the weekend hopefully
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately?: Prince Royce’s new songs…his new album dropped today haha
I guess there’s a reason Hoola is a cult product 😉
Have a lovely, relaxing weekend, Jennifer!
You know, I’m Casper level pale. I also LOVE Hoola. I use it almost every day! Out of say every 14 days Hoola would be my choice 10 of those days. I use the lightest shade in every foundation and regularly use white drops because the lightest often isn’t dark enough. So Benefits decision to make a hoola lite rather than a hoola dark baffles me! If someone like me can make hoola work….they really really needed to concentrate on a product for darker skin tones, in my opinion. It’s really bugging me. This time last year I probably wouldn’t have said anything but nowadays it seems very important to call these things out even though I am in NO WAY trying to bring drama or controversy to Christine’s house. I just think a darker version would have been really cool especially since Benefit is a S.F. company. They are aware. Ya know?
TYPO ALERT!
I meant I sometimes have to add white drops because the lightest foundation shade is often not LIGHT enough. I wrote dark instead of light. :;;sigh::: Long day. I should add, I’m going to buy Hoola lite too. I want to check it out.
Haul: I was bad this week! Stress at work had me hitting the beauty department; I picked up the Nars Audacious Lip and Eye Coffret from the Sarah Moon collection because I really wanted Nars Leslie but they were out of stock of the full size everywhere. I also picked up the rollerball version of Replica Lazy Sunday Morning by Maison Margiela because I had 20% off and couldn’t commit to a full 100ml of either Tea Escape or Flower Market.
Weekend plans: Project meetings, meals with friends and work!
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately?: I’m more of a Spotify girl but I love Nothing But Thieves’ debut album.
Here’s hoping this upcoming week is less stressful at work for you, Kimberly!!
There is nothing like stress at work to send you running to the shops! I know that feeling very well myself.
Haul: Mizon masks and Voluminous waterproof mascara. Mizon masks are awesome. Oh, I also got some Alba Maximum Moisture body lotion.
Weekend: Well Elroy has been barfing on and off since Monday, so we have a vet appointment this today. Wes got home on Wednesday. I really hope we nail down what is wrong with Elroy, I’m losing my mind. Luckily all his biopsies came back clean including the nose. It’s nice to have the hubby back, but I need a 100% dog too.
Current Music: Really I haven’t been listening to much this week, because I’ve been worried about Elroy vomiting so I’ve kept the house quiet as a churchyard. Before that, I was listening to a lot of Death Cab For Cutie.
I’ve never heard of Mizon before! What mask do you recommend?
I’m really glad all of the biopsies for Elroy came back clean but hope you can find out what’s wrong with him soon!
It’s a Korean brand that Target is now carrying part of. I got the Enjoy Vital Up Time Anti-Wrinkle Mask. It’s got snail mucin.
As for Elroy, it looks like he’s having a problem with his esophagus, it’s a little irritated still from surgery plus his tummy seems to be really acidic. That’s the current theory. We had X-rays, no obstructions. If he doesn’t clear up in a few days with these meds then we have to do more bloodwork.
We found some new stuff though, there is lung scarring and spine arthritis. He’s so active you’d never guess. Both can happen with age. The lungs could also be from the exposure to carbon monoxide last spring when we had an electrical fire that melted some plastics. I got poisoned but I was right on top of the fire putting it out. Either way, there isn’t anything we can do about it now. But we can treat the arthritis. We’re going with supplements and possibly CBD too.
Mellan has a lot of arthritis – he has had good luck with Rimadyl (pain med) but also Dasequin (or Cosequin) supplements and adequan (rx) injections (which I do from home).
Good luck, Erin!
I’m sorry Elroy is so sick. Sending him pets and prayers. I’m glad the biopsies came back clean.
🙁 Hope you can figure out what’s going on with Elroy soon.
Sending a Get well soon to Elroy.
Hope Elroy gets better soon!
It’s a mixed set of emotions when the biopsies come back OK and yet you still don’t know what’s wrong with your pet. I hope he gets better soon, it must be upsetting for him to be vomiting all the time.
Poor Elroy, and poor you, too. The one bright spot being clean biopsies, but I really do hope that the vet figures out what’s making him throw up.
My heart goes out to you. It’s so awful when your furbaby is sick! It’s such a helpless feeling, but Elroy lucked out having parents who love him so much. I will keep him in my heart and thoughts. Please keep us posted.
Mizon in general is good. The snail gel is a classic. Speaking of KB, Ulta actually added 3 Cosrx. I had asked twice. They listened. The Cosrx snail 96 and aha/bha toner are regulars for me. Beyond Thrilled! Now, to get them to get the low pH good morning cleanser. If you’re ingredients-driven and like a no frills approach, with effective products, Cosrx will become a fave.
Haul: Sugarpill Ice Angel Pressed Eyeshadow (pro pan sold out), Glint Lipstick, Crystalline and V False Eyelashes, Pro Palette.
Pro Pans in: Dollipop, Money Maker x2, Castle on the Hill, Poison Plum, Tako, The Inventor, Heart Shaped Cookie, Home Sweet Home, Kim Chi x2, and Suburbia. (i wanted a few other pro pans but they were sold out.)
Weekend plans: Work and resumes. It’s my Dad’s B-day on Sunday but we are taking Monday off together to celebrate.
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately?: I’ve only been listening to the radio the past few years sadly.
Oh a sort of anecdotal things about B-days. When I went in for blood work on Tuesday the nurse mentioned she drew blood from 2 other people born on Christmas. lol I had had to laugh at that because it’s a date that she would remember while I was cringing with the needle slowly drawing blood.
Whew! That’s a Sugarpill haul 😀
Happy birthday to your Dad! What will you guys do to celebrate?
I’ll always take advantage of their 2 sales per year when I don’t own their newer products. 😉 Only 4 of the eyeshadows shades are back ups for me because I wanted the free pro palette. lol
Movie and dinner for the most part for my Dad’s B-day. 😉
Enjoy the birthday celebration with your Dad! Sunday is my Mom’s birthday too but we’re getting together next weekend.
Aww!!! I know exactly what you mean; the day just has to begin with “good morning” to my fluffies, too! He is such a precious cutie, he’s impossible to ignore! ?
Haul: KVD Hawkwind ELL. Wore it literally all day yesterday without ANY issues, and NO chapped lips this morning!!! Also went to Ulta last Saturday and used my 20% on a bunch of Nyx stuff: Angel Veil Primer, Faux Black Eye Pencil in Obsidian (OMG, gorgeous!), Lavender Steel Duochomatic highlight and Epic Ink Liner in Black. Plus another tube of Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.
Weekend plans: Getting my every 6 weeks infusion of Remicade this afternoon, then when I get home I’m going to try to make some gf brownies, rest of the weekend is my usual; hair, nails, meeting. Where is this horse property you speak of? Sounds like nirvana! When I lived in Phoenix, there were properties with horses, llamas, goats and emus that I’d go by just to gawk at all those cool critters!
What music do you have on repeat: Hmm, not an album, but a song I’ve been very into by Rihanna, Love On The Brain!
YAYYY! Happy to hear that Hawkwind played so nicely with your lips, Nancy! 🙂 I wonder why that shade did so well for you compared to past shades!
I think there are a few in the neighborhood, but there’s only one that I know of that you can see the horses and goats! Definitely uncommon. I remember when I looked at homes just below Shea and North Scottsdale Road there were TONS of horse properties still!
So far, only Hawkwind and Sanctuary have worked out formula wise, in that they didn’t drive me crazy with drying. I would have kept Sanctuary, but it just had too much of a gray hue to it for my coloring, it seemed.
That’s the one thing about AZ, lots and lots of horse properties out here! But goats or other critters? Not terribly common! Although, I keep hearing about some neighborhood in Phoenix that has a TON of peacocks! I haven’t found the peacock hood, but I know that I want to. We didn’t have cool stuff like this back in NJ, unless it was a farm. We did have that woman with all kinds of tigers and other big cats, though.
Hey Nancy – very curious how you like Lavender Steel!
Julia, I love it because it doesn’t have a whitish base, so it works very well with my medium olive skintone. And it’s such a gorgeous shade, too!
HAUL: Tom Ford Nude Dip and Chanel Tisse Rivoli quads. I expected them to look almost identical on me and I would choose between them, but they totally don’t. I’m definitely keeping the TF one, woo it’s pretty. The colors just melt together. The Chanel one is cooler in tone with a more professional vibe. It’s great but I’m still on the fence. Will have to use it a few more times.
WEEKEND: Watching the Oscars. They’re so stuffy and are getting worse but I just always have watched.
ALBUM: I prefer to shuffle, actually!
Lovely neutral quads you picked, Ginny! Happy to hear you are loving the Tom Ford quad!
Haul: Hourglass lip stylo in Dreamer — which I like a lot: nice packaging and formula, and this one is a good color for me. I see more of these in my future.
Weekend: Mostly the usual (errands, pilates, etc), but also a couple of friends over Sunday to watch the Oscars.
Music: Riverdance soundtrack.
Mellan is so dear. I’ve always been a cat person but that sweet face may ‘turn’ me at some point.
Yayy!! I love hearing reviews for products I loved, lol! It’s a relief to hear, haha.
LOVE Riverdance!
I love Riverdance as well, I am a big fan of Celtic music.
Haul: Finally got UD Thunderbird eyeshadow (how gorgeous!) and – believe it or not, I actually purchased a matte lipstick – Smashbox Infrared. The colour is so beautiful I figured I’d work may way around the matte-ness somehow. I got a mini of Drunk Elephant Marula oil which I think I like (I did get 1 lone spot the day after using it; could be a fluke or could be the oil itself). It’s a ridiculous $90 here in Canada so I went to my handy dandy health food store, which just recently started to carry Acure brand and got a bottle of their 100% pure Marula oil for $22!! The bottle is a semi-opaque plastic but heck, I can go to the drugstore and get a small bottle to protect it from the light or just keep putting it in the outer box! For a difference of SEVENTY bucks??? I also bought some birthday gifts for my daughter, whose birthday is next month – Naked 3 palette (which she very much wants), a Sephora plum liner and the Lancome blush she’s been wanting (bought that with SDM points!) We’re getting her some peridot or blue apatite earrings for her “big” present (she turns 33 and for double numbers, we always do jewelry)
Weekend plans: none, which seems like bliss!
Music – none (I’m not a “music” person)
Christine, I meant to add at the end of my post (but forgot)…..in the list of dupes for Thunderbird, you’ve got Buxom Bronzed Bod listed. I’ve had that since it came out but I wanted Thunderbird anyway. They are so close to one another but the other really weird thing they have in common is what happens (at least to me) when I blend them upward into my crease….they both seem to turn into a different colour entirely – a dark, smoky grey/brown shade and without the reflective finish I get when I press either shadow onto my lid. It’s uncanny that they both seem to do this (or maybe it’s just the lighting in my bathroom but I think it’s the blackened base that creates this effect)
I agree, I think it is the base!
A little balm might give you less matte and more comfort without altering it too much 🙂
Peridot is a gorgeous stone. How fun that for double numbers, you do jewelry!
Mariella, I gave my granddaughter my Naked 3 palette last weekend. Every time she comes over she goes directly to my make up stash and she’s had her eyes on my Naked 3 palette for at least a year. I’ve never had much success with it (most of the lighter colors either don’t show up or look dirty on my medium warm skin), so I finally just handed it to her. She was jumping around with joy! She’s coming over this afternoon so I can do a Naked 3 “look” on her.
I love that you get your daughter make up for her birthday. I buy my daughter and granddaughter make up for every birthday and Christmas, and often buy them things inbetween “just because.” Today my daughter will be coming over to do my hair and my husband’s hair, and I have a bag of goodies for her: four UD Vice Lipsticks, UD Luminater in Lit, IT cosmetics CC cream, and the Too Faced Hangover Primer. I figure the amount of money I spent on the make up is still less than I would have paid for professional salon cuts, root coverage, and highlights. It’s a win-win.
Which LANCOME blush did your daughter want? (I am a LCSW at a local hospital but I still moonlight in cosmetics a couple times a month–I used to work for LANCOME.) I am gearing up for my spring LANCOME order next month. Have you tried the new Grandiose Mascara? God, I can’t say enough good things about it!
Thunderbird over a dark base? I haven’t tried that!
I hope your daughter loves her gifts!
Tammy, I have the original Naked as well as #2 and Smoky but I knew 3 would not be for me at all. But DD has checked it out before in-store and really wanted it (I suggested looking at a few other palettes but she likes the pinker tones so it was her choice – she’s had lots of opportunity to check out Sephora’s other offerings!). For her birthday, we generally ask for a list of things she wants (so we can be sure of getting her what she likes) and then choose from that so it is sort of a surprise (that’s the purpose of the earrings! She doesn’t know for a fact that we’re getting those for her). As for the blush, she wants Tresor Subtil. She uses Nars Orgasm but thinks Tresor Subtil is similar but nicer. It wouldn’t be my choice but this is about her choice. I used to use Lancome mascaras exclusively 20+ years ago but haven’t tried one in years. To tell you the truth, the only “high ticket” mascara I really like at all is Clarins Be Long. I dropped a bundle on a Marc Jacobs one recently and really dislike it. As for Thunderbird…I don’t apply it over a dark base; it has a darkened/black base that seems to “emerge” when you buff it (it’s like the bronze colour fades, exposing the darker under-base; it’s a really great effect. If you just pat/pack it on, as I do on my lids, you get the “pan” colour but then when you buff, you get this “other” colour). You don’t need another shadow to get a “2-tone” effect with a darker, less reflective crease!
My daughters first palette was the Naked 3. She loves it. I think it is a generational thing lol but the young girls love Naked 3. I think is a good palette for a beginner tbh
Mellan seems back on track! 🙂
Haul: I got a Nyx micro brow pencil, just used it today for the first time. Not sure yet if the longivity is that much better then my old fashioned Rimmel brow pencil, but I am very happy with how fast I actually can fill in any gaps with this formula. (So I broke my no-buy. Hard to get back into it, hahaha, but I want to!)
Weekend plans: not so much :). Cleaning, reading, yoga. Looking forward to it.
Music: this question made me realise that I haven’t listened to any albums for a long time. (I think it has to do with the concussion… But it’s okay. Music will be for later!)
So far, so good! 🙂
You can get back on your no-buy!! You can do it!!
? Thanks!
Haul: Not very much. I purchased the Loreal Eye Brow pencil in blonde, a Nars Matte Velvet Lip in Cruella, Niotin 2 shampoo and conditioner for thinning hair and Duraline. I had been thinking about the problem of my Marc Jacobs Highliner pencils drying out and since I haven’t thrown them away, I wondered if using Duraline on them or with them would make them useable again. I haven’t received it yet but I am thinking it will so I am excited about that.
Weekend Plans: Start painting my new craft room space and begin organizing the craft supplies. I will be having dinner with my mother and brother. It is sort of a Friday night tradition when the weather allows. We drive into town and have prime rib. Other than that just some housekeeping.
Music: I am old school and still listen to the music of my youth! So, mostly late 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. With that in mind, I have been listening to the soundtrack from the movie Sharkey’s Machine. It is a soft jazz album. I also have revisited my Queen obsession and an album from a group called the English Congregation. They have one of my top 5 favorite songs, “Softly Whispering I Love You.” This song was also covered by a group called Mike Curb and the English Congregation which is not the same group. I recently found on Ebay the original album still sealed in it’s sleeve.
Duraline! Such a fab product. Let me know if you try it with the MJB Highliners!
Deborah,
Duraline for dried Marc Jacobs pencils? What a great idea!
Love your music choices. Queen was one of the first two bands I ever fell in love with. I bought all their albums and knew every line from every song! I grew up listening to the music of the 50’s as my mother was a dance instructor from the big band era, and I still flip on the 50’s channel on XM radio on a regular basis and dance around the kitchen to those wonderful songs! And the 70’s…they don’t make music like that anymore. Some of the BEST LOVE SONGS of all time came out of the 70’s!
Hi Tammy,
A kindred spirit. I pretty much think they stopped making good music after the mid-70’s and I find music to be a great prompter of nostalgia. I remember where I was at when I first heard a certain song. I will say this though, I have a younger daughter, born when I was 40, and the music she listens to now is actually quite nice. I have gone to a couple of concerts with her and have loved them. Your mother was a dance instructor? I love that. I wanted to take dance lessons when I was little but we didn’t have the money. Still love dancing, although I am not good at it.
What Mariella said about marula is true for Duraline as well. It’s basically isododecane, and works to resuscitate products, and thin things, esp. stuff like gel eyeliner pots. You don’t have to spring for a small vial from inglot or Beautylish. You can source a far larger bottle from Amazon, etc. why pay a 700% markup for a basic one note formula? The Drunk Elephant and Duraline may have a tad more elegance, but not enough to warrant the price.
Haul: the 3 dry shampoos from Klorane (regular, tinted and nettle) and their makeup cleansing water, Guerlain Les Couleurs de La Petite Robe Noire palette, and more activewear!
Weekend plans: dinner and board games with friends, a spinning class, a run, and if it doesn’t rain maybe a hike on Sunday.
Album on repeat: I’ve been listening to Google Play radios a lot so I’m not really listening to one album these days.
Now, are you trying all three to see which one you like the most or do you love all three and can’t choose?!
I’ve only ever tried the regular, and I want to compare to see which one works best for me!
Haul: Medusa’s Make-up sub box — Eye Dust in New Wave, Highlighter, and Kabuki Brush. Trades with friends — Besame Cosmetics Brightening Vanilla Face Powder in Translucent; e.l.f. Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California, and Wet n Wild MegaSlicks Balm Stain in Red-dy or Not, A Stiff Pink, 2 A.M. Call Time, and Rico Mauve.
Weekend plans: My oldest son’s 22nd birthday is today, and his party is Sunday afternoon. Very, very early on Sunday morning we’re picking up my friend’s daughters in Salem and taking them to PDX airport (they have to be there by 5 a.m.). Sunday is going to be a very long day. lol
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately? Meinhard Alchemusic I: Solve.
Hope your son has a great birthday, Rachel! 🙂
Hi Mellan! Sending hugs to you. You look so darned huggable in this photo. My 4 attack me in the morning, the cuddles come after the feeding while I’m sipping chai latte in my new bed while I have my quiet morning time.
Haul: I didn’t haul this week. Yay!
Plans: Catch up with admin for the business and procrastinate with some Netflix or any other distraction..
Music: I’m all over the map these days revisiting and embracing Nina Simone Sinnerman, Amy Winehouse Back to Black, but also some newer like Bon Iver 8 (circle) and M83 Road Blaster. I know jack about Pop music, despise country… actually rather listen to Opera in lieu; the one everyone else seems to hate.
Sounds like a nice way to start the morning, haha!
I’m fortunate that Mellan will wait for food… but he does indicate if I’m lingering too long, LOL!
Haul: Viseart Cashmere & Minx (e/s), MJ Kink & Kisses (blush), Chanel In Love (blush)
Weekend plans: Painting trim and putting guest bedroom together after renovations. (I want my living room back!)
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately?: Too busy lately 🙁
Yay for Viseart Cashmere and Minx!
They are my first Viseart. I should be getting the Petit one tomorrow in the mail. I am loving them. The only bust in the mix was the Chanel blush… pretty peachy-ish color in the pan. No payoff even on my lighter skin. Thank goodness Nordstrom has a great return policy!
My Haul: The Viseart Petit Pro Palette that Sephora just restocked and the Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eyeliner in Earthquake.
My plans for the weekend: Working out at the gym I recently joined, excited that my stamina is getting better now.
What (music): Listening to Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best of George Michael over and over.
Hope you have a great time at the gym, Fashn!
Haul: Sugar Pill Feline Fancy! I’m really excited to get it and do some looks with it! And I fell in love with the liquid lipstick the second I saw it!
Weekend Plans: Same as last week, My best friend has been home from University for a week, and she’s making the 4 hour drive back to her school on sunday. So I’m spending at much time as possible with her, because I wont see her again until April for sure 🙁 🙁 We plan on pooling all of our extra money together and going out for a fancy suhsi lunch!
Music album I have on repeat: I’v been listening to A LOT of of Paramore’s old school albums!! Brand new eyes, Riot! etc!!! 😀
Can’t wait for you to get the Sugarpill set, Shannon! 🙂
Enjoy your best friend’s visit!
Morning hugs with the pups are the best! Dogs just are the best people.
Haul: Nothing new. Ran out of foundation so I got a replacement. And I got a backup of the Chanel quad I’m in love with. (Not sure that counts as part of a haul, or if am I sticking to my no-buy for Feb? Cuz, you know not “new” stuff. LOL! 🙂 )
Weekend plans: A group my husband is active with has a February lobster bake to beat the winter blues with a taste of summer. That’s on Sunday. Nice people. It’s a good time and yummy. Usually we head there all bundled up, but it was 68 yesterday and 73 here today. Crazy. Other than that, not much.
Weekend plans: Last Stop Wonderland soundtrack from the movie from the late 90s. Lovely classic bossa nova. I came across it cleaning my desk and it’s been on for a few weeks now.
They really are, haha!
Have fun at the lobster bake tomorrow! That sounds like a nice way to spend your day.
Haul, nothing! Yay. I’m doing OK so far with the low buy. I do need most of my money for veterinary costs as my schnauzer is unwell again. Going to the vet on March 1st. The miniature schnauzer puppy ate som pebbles and spent a night at the hospital a few weeks back, silly puppy!
Weekend, I guess it’ll be mostly taking care of Stubbs, the schnauzer, short doggy walks and cleaning as there’s been a bit of barfing going on.
Music, I really mostly listen to the radio.
This feels like a very boring update, no makeup, sick dog and no music. So sorry, I hope for a better Friday next week.
Mellan is gorgeous as always, sucha lovley dog.
Congrats on doing well with your low buy so far, Helene!
I hope your poor puppy will be okay shortly! Poor pup!
Thank you!
Hope Stubbs is on the way to feeling better!
Thank you!
I think he is.
Going to see a vet tomorrow, I hope we’ll be able to find out what is wrong with his stomach and get help.
Haul: I used my 20% off Platinum Ulta deal to finally buy Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette and Too Faced Peach palette. I really don’t need these eye shadows ( have way too many) but after seeing so many great looks and reviews I think I’ll like them. Also brought Still Magnificent Glitter and Glow Liquid eye shadow in Rose Gold.
Weekend Plans: Me and my daughter might go to the movies to see “Get Out”. Have a nice sit down or takeout dinner, I don’t cook on weekends. And get rid of clothes that I never wear or like anymore, reorganizing my closet.
What Music / Album do you have on repeat: I like old rhythm and blues songs. I listen to audiobooks in my car or house while I’m doing chores. I have a music playlist on my phone and computers. And Sirius in my car but I rarely listen to music since I’m usually listening to a audiobook.
Fingers crossed that the two hyped up palettes live up to their hype for you, Denise! Keep us posted 🙂
Haul: anastasia lip Palette, dior addict lip glow balm in the new shade berry, too faced melted rainbow
Waiting for next week: we get the new mac matte lipsticks and the work it out collection on first and sixth march here in Germany
Weekend
Working again on Saturday
Album
I do not buy an album very often, I mostly buy single songs
At the moment there is no album or song I have on repeat
How are you liking the Lip Palette? Are you creating custom shades or using them alone?
I Do not know yet. I live in Germany and it has not arrived yet.
I think I will first try the shades alone. Maybe google for some mixing suggestions from others if there are some.
He’s looking better each week Christine – I would have morning cuddles with him too.
Haul: As stated last week, I went to Sephora and I didn’t purchase ANY makeup at all (my twin sister said she had to sit down in shock and my son said that was amazing). I liked a lot of products, but I didn’t need or love anything that I saw. I was hoping to get the UD Vice lipstick in Conspiracy, but it has a mauveish base, which didn’t suit me. But what I did get was the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose perfume – which is just beautiful.
Weekend Plans: It’s a lovely day here (it’s Saturday in Aus) so I am going to the nearby hills to visit one of the little villages that has lots of lovely shops for browsing and tomorrow I plan to take Olivia out for a steam train ride. Lachlan has had his fourth visit in his little life, via ambulance, to the hospital for croup this week and he is now at home recovering. It’s amazing how quickly babies can bounce back.
Music Albums: I am alternating between Enya’s Dark Sky Island (her most recent album) and The Best of Heart – just love those girls.
Wow, no makeup! That is great restraint.
Enjoy your weekend, and I hope Lachlan feels better soon!
By the way, how do you like Enya’s newest album compared to her previous releases?
Yes, my family could not believe the restraint I’ve shown at all! Lachlan is getting better, but he still has a cough and now is probably getting some more teeth.
I have all of Enya’s previous albums and this one is just as good.
Haul: Kevyn Aucoin Neo Limelight Highlighter, Algenist Liquid Glow Duo, a couple of Sephora Colorful Shadow Singles, Mac Luna Luster Highlighter (Star Trek-themed one), Bobbi Brown Longwear Gel Eyeliner pot in Sapphire Shimmer Ink, Touch in Soul Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo in Penny, Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet in Fawn No 5, Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in Achiever, Estee Lauder Smoky Nights Palette (plus the 7-piece Estee Lauder gift from Lord and Taylor), Kat Von D Lightening Liner in Hex (crossing my fingers on the liner as the reviews are truly terrible!)
Weekend plans: Celebrating my husband’s birthday with dinner out!
Music: I can’t honestly remember the last time I played a CD or a digital album, lol. Showing my age I suppose. I’m more of a Pandora fan.
Nice haul, Deanna! So many different types of products. What have you used so far?
Happy birthday to your husband!
Loving the Becca Amythst that I’ve already tried. I have a lot of Becca highlighters, but this one feels more unique (at least in comparison to what I already own.) I’ve also tried all the lippies and my fav is a toss up between the Hourglass Style in Achiever and the Burberry Liquid Lip in Fawn No 5. Unfortunately I’ve only swatched the others so far (though I know I’m not alone in sometimes buying so many makeup and skin care products I don’t get a chance to wear them all right away!) I didn’t realize I bought so many products until I started listing my haul, lol.
Haul: I’ve been using up some of my face mask collection recently, so I took advantage of Ulta’s 20% off coupon and got the Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque and the Miracle Skin Transformer Miracle Mud mask. I’d never heard of these but they had great reviews on the website. I also got the BareMinerals Bareskin Sheer Sun liquid brozer; it’s been on my wishlist since last summer and now that the weather is warming up I decided to grab it. I also got the 20-piece sample bag and four bonus deluxe samples with codes. I cashed in some of my points so it was a real bargain!
Weekend plans: I’ll be hitting the casino again (it’s one of my new favorite things to do, plus the casino keeps giving me free slot money!) and exploring some local breweries with my boyfriend.
What music am I listening to: The Salt-n-Pepa station on Pandora is amazing!
Here’s hoping the new masks you bought end up being great! 😀
Haul:
A couple of my Tom Ford blushes came in (Inhibition, Gratuitious) and am still waiting for the rest.
Wayne Goss brushes #2, #5
Weekend plans: The usual – laundry, cooking for the week.
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately? Nate Rateliff and the Nightsweats
Can’t wait for the rest of your blushes to arrive!
Haul: I ordered the Juvia’s place Masquerade palette on Monday afternoon and it was delivered to my doorstep by Thursday morning! It’s been a busy week at work so I haven’t gotten to try it yet but I’m hoping to have time to try one of Kathleen Lights’ tutorials for it this weekend.
Mellan seems like a sweet, really chill buddy. I have a parrot who demands “cuddles” every morning. Demands them! But his previous owner taught him that biting was a fun game to play. And screaming too. I’m working on retraining him but he’s pretty old so I consider all the little improvements to be a huge win.
Wow, that is fast delivery! Here’s hoping you enjoy your new palette.
Sounds like you have the patience of a saint for your parrot 🙂 What is his name?
Haul: Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy palette & Koko k Lip Kit. Not a Jenner/Kardashian fan, but this palette is amazing. Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips (Tiny Chum/Calypso) Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip (No Nonsense) Colourpop Gel Liners (Get Paid/ Mr. Bing/ Honey Dude) Get Paid Eyeliner is a beautiful Rose Gold shade, I love it as an inner corner highlight if doing a burgundy or pink smokey eye- so pretty.
Weekend plans: Working Saturday & a big family dinner on Sunday
What (music) album do you have on repeat lately?: Not really listening to a specific album, I tend to make play lists of my favourite songs. Loving Ed Sheeran’s new music though so might actually download that album as I think I might like all the songs.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Burgundy palette! Happy to hear more 🙂
Haul: I ordered a few Makeup Geek “ding and dent” shadows (meaning they had minor defects) for $3 each – Shimma Shimma, Frappe, and Beaches and Cream. I also added Chickadee, which I’m really unsure about, but I don’t have anything quite like it.
I also put in an order with Sephora for the Alchemist palette (not for me–for a friend in Germany who really wants it) a Bite Beauty holiday duo in Pepper/Bronze (I figured I should give Bite another try!) and a Sephora shadow in Mermaid Tail.
I can’t remember if it was this past week or the week before, but I also used an Urban Decay Kickback to get the Electric Palette for a little over $4.
I think that’s it for the week!
Weekend plans: We are both feeling a bit sick today, so not sure…but hopefully we will get out of the house for a bit!
Music: none really this week, sadly!
$3 an eyeshadow is a total score, Alicia! 🙂
Feel better!!
Thanks! I know, I keep going back on the site and looking for more to order…and then I tell myself to stop being an eyeshadow addict when I have so much already to use…but come on, $3?!? 🙂 Also, for anyone interested in their highlighters for deeper skin tones, last I checked they had three ones that were a bit damaged for $9 each…a great way to try them out, and it’s apparently not too damaged and still usable.
Awwwe Mellan looks so precious! That sweet face just gets my heart every time. Are his numbers going back down or is it too soon to know? I just wanttohughimsobad! It must be typed that way when you really really want something lol
Ok that Ulta order I went off the rails with? It came separately for some reason but it’s all here so I can finally haul it but it’s NOTHING compared to the damage I’ve done since then! I wasn’t on a no buy I was just trying to use what I have and spend more thoughtfully. That worked I think because I was so grossed out by the holiday releases in Aug. and so much poor quality being produced but I’m back!
ULTA HAUL #1
4 z palettes because I just happened to hit the time when the glitch was counting them as Ulta products which were buy 1 get 1 1/2 off plus 20% making them $8 instead of $20. Glad I stocked up because I’m pretty sure the owner just killed her own business. Not that I would support her anyway.
a nyx brand large barrel pencil sharpener
From Urban Decay
Nocturnal Vice Lipstick in Fireball
Lounge and Fireball singles ( I bought them when they released but gave them to my little sister bc she loves them and I love her.)
Vice lipstick in Violate
3 UD lip liners in Rush, Manic and Liar
From Tarte
The double duty beauty blah blah words color correcting palette ( this thing is AMAZING!! Srsly, forget every crappy palette like this you’ve ever seen. THIS. This is the goods right here!
It cosmetics
Elastic stretch volumizing mascara
And the best for last bc I’m still a child regardless of my age
Clinique
The WHOLE BOX of crayola branded chubby stix!! The box and chubby stix are so stinking cute plus they are really good products. I’m hoping they make these permanent because the shades labeled intense still apply and feel like a balm but most definitely look like a lipstick. The sheers do have sheer but visible color, they aren’t just shine. The shades are distinct just not opaque. I heart them very much.
The end.
For now………. ?
His numbers went down across the board, but we’ll be doing a recheck at the end of March to see if they stay that way! 🙂
Such a fun haul, Bonnie! What are you most enjoying so far – other than the Double Duty CC palette? 😉
As per usual I accidentally hit send…you’d think I would learn by now.
Weekend Plans: We were on flood evacuation warning earlier in the week. It was extremely terrifying! We are going out to where work crews and volunteers are shoring up where they can before the next storm hits to take them doughnuts, breakfast burritos OJ and coffee. My ride should be here any minute. After that, I’m promising myself to declutter one drawer at least. After that I can veg 🙂 Mainly I’m going to catch up on sleep. It’s not easy to get when your tv and phone are blaring those flood warnings every few minutes although I am NOT complaining!!! But I do want to sleep ?
Music on repeat lately: P!nk’s funhouse has been one I keep playing this week
Haul : Wet n Wild Megaglo LE Highlighters for Spring, Sweetest Bling & Lilac to Reality
Weekend plans: it’s back to frigid temps and snow. I want to buy a giant organizer for beauty products though so maybe I’ll venture out a tad
Music on constant rotation: Lady Gaga Joanne & The Best of Queen
Stay warm, Erica 🙂
