YAYYYYY!!!!! Go Mellan Go!! You can do it, you have the best Mom in the world to take care of you 🙂
*Haul–CP Shadows —-Valentine Duo in One of A Kind ( Going Steady & Pinky Promise)–your review is spot on, Keeper (meh, dry and sheer, there are better reds out there), and Ignition ( sheer but buildable to semi-opaque, gorgeous lilac color and finish)
*Weekend-going in 1 day to work (boo) but the usual -relax, sort/test makeup
*Orchids! I have a small collection –they seem to be the only plants that I can’t kill, the flowers are beautiful and last a long time

Katherine T. Avatar

Yes!! The packaging on the CP Valentine Duos was so awesome!! So cheery and cute, and it came right on time, on Valentine’s Day. And SO impressed they didn’t charge extra for the packaging either! I smile every time I look at the kit, so it’s going to be a treasured piece. Thank you CP –you showed us some love 🙂

Haul: nothing. Currently on a no buy for the month of February (but Estée Lauder will make it difficult ?).

Weekend plans: we had planned to visited the family and relax (it’s been crazy since I got back to work) but the little one has fever for the first time. We shall see and make the best out of it!

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)?: I have little knowledge about flowers and plant. Anything looks beautiful to me! I could say I particularly enjoy the beauty of banzai. So much work and art to shape them!

Julia Avatar

Haul: All these new violet highlights sent Munich self-control out the window! I picked up Becca Prismatic Amethyst on Rouge launch day since I plan on never being Rouge again and figured I may as well take advantage now, and also the new KA Limelight which I did manage to get at 20% off! I am going to be one purple girl this spring ?

Weekend plans: We should hit 60 degrees today through Sunday with no rain, so I plan in being outside as much as possible!

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)?: I love big flowers, but Lantanas have a special place in my heart- I love the bright little ombré clusters and they remind me of vacation. I put them in my front planter or hanging baskets every year.

Julia Avatar

You’d think… but I have a feeling I am going to “need” the upcoming Glow Kit, even though I have seen the inside!

Also, I forgot to say in my original post- Yay Mellan!! I am so glad to hear his stats are improving rapidly, and I will keep sending love and good vibes ?

Nancy T Avatar

Hi Tammy, I have been dying to use my Pastel Goth, Sugarpill Feline Fancy set, MAC Taraji P. Henson VG Lipstick and Lipglass, KVD Hawkwind all this past week, unfortunately, I’ve been fighting a nasty case of sinusitis and asthmatic bronchitis. It’s driving me nuts because I really want to dig into my new stuff, but feel too crummy. If I were you, I would just buy it. I intend to use mine to get a tropical rainbow look! I am convinced that these pastels have enough richness and depth even for us deeper medium-tan folk!

Wednesday Avatar

That is GREAT news for Mellan! I’m so relieved to hear he is recovering quickly. We all feel a connection with him as our Free For Haul Friday mascot.

Haul: Kevyn The Neo Limelight, Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet in Brilliant Violet and Oxblood. The Burberry formula is just absolutely phenomenal; a real standout. A couple of Huda lip pencils and I’m completely ambivalent about these. Anyone have a great mauve purple lipliner. I’ve got dark purple, I’ve got lilac.. I need a midtone mauve purple..

Weekend Plans: get out for a fun drive with H and the dogs. I bought myself a car. The body cannot take bouncing around in our big truck anymore.

Favourite Flower: Hydrangea. I’m nuts for them.

Christine Avatar

It was! It must be particularly great news if the vet actually says, unprompted, that he should live a long life in spite of the conditions! (I feel like vets straddle that line of trying to keep you hopeful but leave room for disaster.)

The Burberry Lip Velvets are amazing. They feel so great on the lips!

Wednesday Avatar

I deal with vets so often; they are meticulous typically and much like actuaries, they play the stats: there’s always a chance things will get better or worse. However, as the client sitting on that precipice: it isn’t especially comforting and downright emotionally draining when diagnosis spans over months..years..

I’m so frickin’ happy for Mellan

Christina D. Avatar

Great news about Mellan! I’m very much a dog person, but I have an asthmatic cat that requires lots of attention so I know how relieved you must be. Amen!

Lacey Avatar

Yay for Mellan! Happy to hear he’s doing better. 🙂

I may use the Ulta coupon I have for yet another shade of Becca matte foundation. Third color’s a charm, maybe?? It’s also time to start looking for a new shampoo and conditioner.

Monica Avatar

oh I’m so happy to hear about Mellan’s results

Haul: Maybelline Nude Glow and The Glo Down eye shadows! They are so good. I’m glad I snagged them at 40% off!

Weekend plans: not sure if I want to do a concert this weekend. I need to finish up last minute things for the upcoming trip to Vegas.

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)?: hydrangeas, lilacs, forget me nots, and apple blooms

Monica Avatar

I avoided the palettes because I saw reviews with bad ratings for them. Those particular shades are metallic. They are really pigmented and creamy. They remind me of the LORAC Unzipped palette metallic shades.

Tammy Avatar

Great news about Mellan!

Haul: MAC Taraji lipstick and gloss (perfect for me) and MAC Pearlglide eyeliner in Designer Purple (very pretty sparkling purple with good pigmentation).

I got an itch to try some different fragrances so I ordered samples of Eris Night Flower and Maison Francis Kirkdjan Paris Baccarat Rouge from the Perfumed Court. I hate them both, lol. But they did remind me how much I LOVE my favorite frangrances! After two weeks of wearing ick, my normal fragrances smelled amazing!

I also joined Scentbird, a monthly fragrance subscription where you get a very generous sample of a fragrance of your choice. I totally recommend it, especially if you get bored with wearing the same fragrances everyday. For my first order I got Norell New York. I have been purchasing tiny samples of this fragrance on EBay for the past couple years but have been hesitant to purchase a full bottle due to cost and the fact that I already have too many bottles of perfume. I absolutely love Norell New York and this sample will easily last me an entire year, as there are at least 6-7 other perfumes on my shelf that I will wear constantly throughout spring and summer.

I picked up a few things from Beautylish. One Temptalia reader recommended Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lip Stick in Crocodile Tears topped with Jouer Lip Topper in Skinny Dip, so I ordered those. I grabbed a second Crocodile Tears for my granddaughter. I think she will love having a green lipstick! I also picked up Jouer Longwear Lip Cream in the shade Watermelon, which should be a perfect color for spring and summer. I also bought two Clean Apothocary Brush Shampoo in Grapefruit, one for me and one for my daughter. I returned the Real Technique brushes I bought for her last week, and will talk more about the brushes I ordered for her next week.

Weekend plans: The weather is gorgeous, so I think we will have to cook out.

Favorite flowers: Roses and Hibiscus.

AB Avatar

Thanks for the tip on Scentbird. Lately I’ve been thinking of exploring new fragrances in fact, and this monthly sampler approach sounds like fun. I may give it a try.

Katherine T. Avatar

Tammy, if you don’t mind me jumping in with my 2 cents….I’ve worn KVD Pastel Goth 3x this week and really like it. When I swatched on my arm without primer, all the shades were smooth, pigmented, or easily buildable. I have super oily lids and must use primer. On my lids, they take a bit more patience to blend out (probably b/c they are matte and I use strong primer), but they last all day on my lids. I had the light pinky purple one last 17 hours! Even though I’m fairly light (NC 15-20), a lot of pastel shadows look terrible on me, because they have a chalky white base that clashes against my yellow undertones, but these have absolutely NO chalky white base, so I think even darker skin tones can easily pull these off. You can also check out You Tube to see how it looks on different skin tones. The only color I’m not too crazy about is the white–not too sure what to do with it, but oh well. Check out KVD Beauty’s instagram from 2/16/17–her swatches are spot on in terms of color, and she says she’s restocking later this month (Feb) on her website, so very very soon. If you’re interested, you can sign up for in-stock notifications on her site. I have a feeling the re-stock is going to sell out very quickly, as SO many people missed it the first time (including me), but if you don’t like it, they do have a 60 day return policy, or you can even unload it on ebay for a probably more than you paid for it. Hope this helps!

Joyce Avatar

Hooray Mellan, you warrior!!

Haul: Wet n Wild Illuminaughty concealer in A Happy Medium, Wet n Wild PhotoFocus pressed powder in Warm Beige; Ulta handsoaps in Sweet Apple, Hibiscus Punch, and Citrus Fizz

Weekend plans: errands and schoolwork. Super fun!

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)?: Tulips (especially pink) or Tiger Lilies 🙂

Joyce Avatar

Oh gosh Christine you’re a lovely optimist. I was such a cynic about the name. Like really WNW? I love a good pun but come on lol 😛

Also, does anyone else know it’s Friday but it doesn’t hit you until you see Free for Haul? ?

Veronica Avatar

Haul: waiting for 2 MAC orders in the mail.
Weekend Plans: Do nothing and catch up on all the TV shows on my DVR
Favorite flower: Tulips!

Glad Mellan is doing great… Hope he continues to improve. Miss Sally (dog) is starting to have heart problems, she is due for tests again in 3 weeks.

And Avene is great! I love the brand. So many good products from them.

Christine Avatar

I’ve gone through three daytime moisturizers in the last month, not having luck with any of them, so here’s hoping Avene has my number! (I do have ones I like, but I’m trying to test some new stuff!)

Hope Sally’s upcoming tests help you provide the right treatment/comfort for her! Mellan had a heart murmur as a puppy that never went away, and we did eventually correct his pulmonic stenosis with surgery (I believe around 1 or 1.5 years old).

Veronica Avatar

Sally has a heart murmur too, but now that she is almost 11, it is starting to go into heart failure. She started meds last month and will be on them for life, so the next EKG is just to see if the meds are doing something for her. I will also have to have her monitored often for the rest of her life, but she is my baby and anything for my babies.

Moja31 Avatar

I’ve been using the avene hydrance optimale light for about a month now, and so far I really like it.
As for a haul, I got the Mac velvet teddy lip duo, and I’m waiting a Sephora order which includes one of the new NARS lip pencil shades, another bottle of porchester square, and two splurge items: the Aerin rose lip conditioner, and the burburry fluid base primer.

Weekend plans: dinner w/ an old friend, & a trip to the movies.

MacKenzie G. Avatar

Haul: Loved my Kylie order! Now waiting on a very large brush order from Wet N Wild (46 brushs) mostly so I can start freelancing some time in the near future
Weekend plans: studying and getting packed to go to Chicago for spring break!
Favorite flower/plant: I think succulents and cacti are gorgeous, and flower wise poppies, carnations, and sunflowers are my favorite 🙂

MacKenzie G. Avatar

I really really like the blushes, not scary pigmented and actually looked slightly luminous on me. The eyeshadows are all of good quality to me (minus the glitter bomb that is the top row of the palette, but I’ll make those work).

Also, YAYYY MELLAN!! So glad he’s feeling better and that must have you feeling a bit better too. He’s quite a trooper 🙂

Christy Avatar

Haul: Some of the Colour Pop pressed powder shadows, Kat von D Trooper eyeliner
Weekend plans: Work–editing a Star Wars RPG game book
What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)?: Clematis and foxgloves

Shannon. N Avatar

Haul: I finally got my hands of the ABH Modern Renaissance palette!! And boy do I love this palette!! I’v used it, and only it for my eye shadow for the last 6 days!!!! It’s so lovely, and I love how many looks I can get out of it!!!

Weekend plans: I saw my doctor yesterday! And she was reading me the report from my biopsy. And It’s 100% non cancerous So thank the creator!!

My surgeon did the math, and it was a ONE in a MILLION chance, I would get this stupid tumor. And I got it! 😛 Can you tell I have horrid luck? ahahah.

I’m spending my weekend with friends!! I’m driving an hour to visit my one best friend tomorrow, and then on sunday i’m visiting my best friend of 14 years!!

Favourite flower: Gerbera Daisies!! I’v always ALWAYS had at least one growing in the house since I was an early teenager! They make me smile and feel happy! 😀

Tracey E. Avatar

Such great news about your biopsy, Shannon! I can only imagine how relieved you must feel. Your bad luck turned into good fortune!! 🙂 Enjoy your weekend catching up with cherished friends.

Shannon. N Avatar

Thank you SO much Tracey!! <3

It felt like a HUGE weight was lifted off of me, ahaha, I felt like I could breathe again once my doctor told me that!!

I'm actually running out the door right now to meet up with two of my good friends to catch up over some wine!! 🙂

kjh Avatar

Benign is one of the best words in the English language. You and Mellan with great health news. Wonderful! Off to look at your MR looks. I’ve held out, too, but it IS easier, when it’s perm. Know I’ll succumb eventually.

Lyn Avatar

So happy that your sweet doggie is on the mend.
Everytime I see his picture I just turn into mush. And he isn’t even mine 🙂
It is so amazing how these “wee beasties” (my beloved Scottish grandma’s term for dogs and cats) steal our hearts!!!!

Haul:Will be placing an order for ColourPop as a reward for finishing a task I’d been putting off.
Weekend plans: Enjoy the weather before it gets crazy cold again!
Favorite type of flower: Hydrangeas and roses.

Ginny Avatar

So glad Mellan is better!

I picked up some products from The Ordinary skincare 3 or so weeks ago and have been using them. The Hyaluronic acid 2%, the Natural Moisturizing Factors (really just a moisturizer), and the Vitamin C suspension. They aren’t luxurious in feel or packaging but they get the job done. I think they are great, totally recommend. The HA and the NMF really absorb into the skin and the Vitamin C is just as good as anything I’ve tried over $30 (can’t believe it’s only $6!). My skin really looks brighter the next day (this is a night product as it has a pronounced powdery/gritty feel). I will repurchase.

ouineque Avatar

Hey Ginny me too, I am a total fan of the Ordinary skin care! Just now I received the moisturizer, the azeliac acid and the Matrixyl peptide complex. The Hyaluronic acid I’ve been using for a couple of months now and I agree with you: it works beautifully. The Vitamine C is nice, but I do not see a big difference in my skin. Happy it works for you though!

Ryou Avatar

Oh yay, great news for you and Mellan! <3

Haul: Absolutely nothing.

Weekend plans: I need to rest my wrist (overuse), so I guess I'd be writing instead of drawing.

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)?: Roses, peonies, and sambac jasmine.

Ryou Avatar

Thank you! I resorted to rolling the muscles, which is the most painful thing ever. =’D It did the trick in combination with NSAID, though, so yay!

ouineque Avatar

Hurray for Mellan! I am happy for you Christine, you can be more relaxed!

Haul: nothing, but some skin care from the UK is on it’s way. (Incredible how I keep on justifying to buy things). Little update on my argan oil eye cream/gel: unluckily enough it does interfere with makeup. My eye primer and my concealer started flaking (even though I put an under eye primer on between cream and concealer). Too bad. I will use it as a nighttime eye moisturizer. And I will be on the look-out for a less expensive alternative of Chanel’s hydra gel pour les yeux, which I was using before. Tips are welcome!

Weekend plans: not so much, which nice.

Favorite plants/flowers: I don’t know enough about that, but I generally like plants, flowers (tulips and roses are my favorites!) and especially trees!

AB Avatar

Yay Mellan! He looks really clear eyed and well. Congrats on this great progress.

Haul: Guerlain Lingerie de Peau foundation in N01. Not available online that I could find, but it was in Frankfurt Airport duty free; matches my tone perfectly when I add it to W02.

Weekend: my first whole weekend at home for I think three weeks — so lots of errands and stuff. I enjoy auctions so may look for 1-2 to go to too.

Flowers: I don’t know, haven’t really been much on flowers or plants. When I pick up some cut flowers, it’s usually according to general quality; for color I tend to like very simple (e.g., all white with maybe a small accent of deep pink), but just depends what’s available.

AB Avatar

Both. Very occasionally I’ll see something I like enough to overcome my trending these days to own less — the last item was a piece of carnival glass too gorgeous to resist. As much though I enjoy watching how auctions go, how different types of people engage, etc.

Alice Avatar

I’m glad to hear that Mellan is doing well and his treatments are working!

Haul: Origins charcoal mask, mini FRESH Nude sugar lip treatment, mini Urban Decay Amulet vice liquid lipstick, mini NEST Black Tulip perfume.

Weekend plans: I have my yearly checkup doctor’s appointment, and as always a little work on the house 🙂

Favorite flower/plant: Birds of Paradise and Stargazer lilies. I also love succulents and fragrant herbs like mint and basil.

Patricia Avatar

Haul: Clinique moisturizer Thirst Relieve for face and eyes! And I got some clothes!
Weekend plans: Visit my friend wjo just had a baby! Little Isabella!
What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)?: Ipê Flowers and Sakuras!

Mellan looks so adorable!

Ashleigh Avatar

Congrats Mellan <33 What great news!
Haul: Some spring Guerlain fragrances (Herba Fresca and Insolence Glacee) for this year since my Flora Nymphea is used up.
Favorite flower/plant: I'm a sucker for ferns but as far as flowers go orchids are my absolute favorite <3 I can't seem to keep them alive though past one bloom. That's a work in progress…

Anna Avatar

Yeaah Mellan. So good to hear about his improvement. Hope he stabalizes and can reduce his meds. He has the best mom and love seeing him every Friday. Great news!.

Mariella Avatar

Haul: finally picked up Hourglass Visionary Lip Stylo and I think that’s pretty much it.

Weekend plans are to spend as much time as possible with our older son before he leaves on Sunday. Sunday afternoon, my daughter and I are going to see the filmed stage version of Newsies. She loves the musical and has seen in probably 5 times but never tires of it.

Favourite flower: peonies and tulips (my husband will often bring home a bunch of tulips in the dead of winter because he knows how much they cheer me up; if he doesn’t buy them, I’ll pick up some).

Nancy T Avatar

Yaaaayyyy!!!! I know how relieved you’ve got to be receiving such a positive update! So happy for Mellan and you! ?

Haul: Everything I had ordered came this week! But I’ve been too sick to even play with my new goodies. On Saturday, I had bought KVD Sanctuary at the urging of the SA. Next day, wore it, and hated how grayish it looked on me. Yesterday, I exchanged it for Hawkwind. So much prettier on me! Cannot wait to dig into my Sugarpill Feline Fancy set, too!

Weekend plans: REST. Trying to kick a nasty asthmatic bronchitis flare with sinusitis. Hopefully, the AB’ s will really start kicking this thing out of my body. Otherwise, just going to at least do my hair and nails.

What is your favorite type of flower or plant: Lilies!!! And roses, too. But, what I miss so terribly out here are our great big shade trees from back in NJ. Especially our big Maple trees, and tall, but very full pines. ???

Tammy Avatar

Nancy, I am sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. I was going to check in with you this week to get your thoughts on the KVD Pastel Goth palette but I’m guessing this is one of the goodies you haven’t been healthy enough to play with. I hope you feel better soon.

Katherine T. Avatar

Nancy, I know how you feel! Thanks to a toddler in pre-school, our whole family caught 3 almost back-to-back colds in Dec/Jan. And of course, box after box of awesome makeup was showing up at my front door, from all the holiday sales/promos/giftcards. But I couldn’t really play with anything –my eyes were watering, I was constantly blowing my nose, which would wipe away about 1/2 my makeup, and forget about blush, my nose/face was red enough. Hope you feel better real soon!

Nancy T Avatar

Thank you all! This bug has been driving me nuts. Can’t get much done around here. And really want to use all my new goodies, so it’s quite frustrating to not even have one ounce of energy to get fun and creative for an entire week. I may today depending on what I feel like after doing my hair. Hopefully that won’t wipe me out completely.

Tracey E. Avatar

Such happy news about Mellan’s liver values and treatment plan!! I’m relieved for Mellan and your family. 🙂

Haul: All from the CCO: Tom Ford Blushes in Ravish and Savage (big thanks to Sabrina for getting me Savage from her CCO); extra 20% off (random CCO coupon, TF excluded): Bobbi Brown: Luxe Lipstick in Bahama Brown, Eye Opening Mascara, Protective Face Lotion SPF 15, Nude Finish Illuminating Powder, Vitamin Enriched Face Base (To Go size), and Extra Light Peach Bisque Corrector.

Weekend Plans: Enjoy the near-record breaking warm weather before the temps become cold again. Symphony on Saturday.

Favorite Flower or Plant: I love dahlias, freesia, roses, and calla lillies, to name a few.

Tracey E. Avatar

I know! It’s embarrassing in some respects but when do you get 50% off Bobbi Brown (and other EL brands)? After seeing on my receipt that the Luxe Lipstick was only $19 before tax, I’m going back for a few more and looking for items that weren’t in stock in my shade, like the retouching wand, concealer, and maybe an Art Stick.

Christine, I wanted to thank you for the idea of donating makeup to a women’s shelter. Last week, in an effort to declutter, I collected all perfume, complexion, etc. samples that I would not use or had too many of, along with products whose scent was too strong for me (but might be fine for someone else) and dropped them off at a local coffee shop that collects toiletries for a women’s shelter. I’ll be making a another donation of “toiletries” shortly. I appreciate this new way to support those in my community and it is all thanks to your IG posts. Thanks for the inspiration!

Rachel R. Avatar

That’s fantastic news about Mellan! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Haul: NYX — Matte Lipstick in Up the Bass; Cosmic Metals in Extraterrestrial, Asteroid Aura, and Fuchsia Fusion; Slide On Lip Pencil in Revolution; Liquid Suede set (Subversive Socialite, Berry, Respect the Pink).

Weekend plans: Tomorrow a couple of Portland area makeup friends and I are driving down to Salem to meet a couple ladies in that area. Sunday or Monday, hubby and I are going to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)? Roses (unfortunately, my husband is allergic to them).

Anne Avatar

I’m SO happy about Mellan! That’s pretty much the best outcome you could have hoped for and I’m glad he’ll live a long and happy life!

Haul: Becca Amethyst, Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in Liberator, and I pre-ordered Jo Malone Whisky & Cedarwood from the new Bloomsbury Set.

Weekend plans: Probably finish watching The Expanse which I finally started watching a few days ago and am totally loving.

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)?: Flower- Day Lily but they’re poisonous to most animals including cats so I don’t have them around (though I grow them outside when I live in places with garden space). But in general I like plants that do stuff, like herbs (even in tiny apartments I’ve got to have a balcony or something for Rosemary, Thyme, Mint, etc) and aromatics like lavender that I use in tea. I also always make sure to grow tomatoes, and I used to have tons of fruit trees (pomegranate, cherry, apricot, lemon, lime, orange, blood orange, olive, etc) where I grew up as well as things like prickly pear cactus as the fruit is divine.

Deanna Avatar

Haul: Becca Prismatic Amethyst, UD Electric Palette, Shu Uemura violet eyeliner, Sunday Riley Good Genes, Sunday Riley UFO Oil, Viseart Theory Chroma Palette, Lipstick Queen Jean Queen, Space NK Spring Sample Bag, Clinique All about Blues Palette, UD Bordello & Sell Out

Weekend Plans: Winding up our spring polish collection, and maybe catching up on some TV!

Favorite Flowers: Dahlias and Sunflowers

Deanna Avatar

I’m most excited about the Becca Amethyst Highlighter. I have nothing like it in my collection (not that I needed anymore highlighters.) Of course it’s an item that hasn’t arrived yet. Also excited about the Space NK spring edit bag arriving Monday!

Erin Avatar

Haul: My Sephora order from before V-day got here finally. Hubby’s coming home on Monday so I’ll be playing with my new NARS stuff for the homecoming celebration. Sephora failed me hardcore with the samples yet again. I don’t even know why I bother selecting anything. I’m also heading to target this weekend to make sure my man has some fresh threads that aren’t saturated in dust. Our poor washing machine!

Weekend Plans: Cleaning…. ug it never ends. The front rooms, kitchen, and baths are clean. I just need to clean the office and bedrooms. I’m pooped. I also need to do some car cleaning, car care, and probably detail both cars. I really don’t have time to do all this. Plus I gotta food shop… I need a personal assistant/maid.

Favorite plants: Do trees count? Man, I love most flowers, succulents, and grasses. Cut flowers I prefer tulips, peonies, sunflowers, and ranunculus. My hubby loves roses. So I’ll be picking some up for him as a welcome home gift. He’s such a girl… a dozen roses, a bath with all the fixings, and pink wine. That will be his Monday afternoon when we gets home!

I’m stoked to hear about Mellan! Such good news!

Linda Avatar

I heart that news, Mellan!

Haul: Nothing this week!

Weekend: Not much. Swimming, time with dogs, kids are in and out. Long weekend for me, and the weather will be really nice, so I bet a trip into the city.

Favorite Flower: Not sure I have a favorite. Give me any flower, and I think it’s beautiful.

Fragrance.net (35% off): Serge Lutens (Ambre Sultan), L’Artisan Perfumeur Paris (Timbuktu, Noir Exquis)

Kiko Milano: Multicolour Glitter Eyeliner (01 Diaphanous Gold, 05 Celestial Steel). Scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

MAC: Lipstick (Betty Boop Red)

Osswald: Atelier des Ors (Lune Féline). UGH. I fell in love with this fragrance and ordered it from a shop in SoHo. The idiots at UPS delivered it to Macy's yesterday (and those idiots signed for my package!) I'm still trying to get this worked out.

Sephora: BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed (Prismatic Amethyst)

Strawberry.net (50% off): NARS Andy Warhol Collection Debbie Harry Eye And Cheek Palette. I think they're shipping via snail mail….not as in USPS but as in on the back of an actual snail!

Ulta: Nyx – Vivid Brights Crème Color (Endless Skies, Aqua Sapphire, 1 @ 50% off), Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter (State of Flux, Rose Quartz, Moonbeam), UD Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation (Light Neutral, 50% off), Nyx Velvet Matte Lipstick (Charmed, GWP)

Weekend plans: No clue.

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)?: I love any cut flowers in a vase in my home. I don't have any outside as I'm allergic to bees.

Denise S. Avatar

Haul: UD Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Midnight Cowboy, TF Sweet Peach Lip Oil in Tickle Me Peach, Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover and Sephora VIB Gift of Peter Thomas Roth Skin care products.

Weekend Plans: Dinner out with my daughter, returning the Natasha Denona 28 pan blue-purple eyeshadow palette the shadows fade quickly and blend altogether, not worth $239, spring cleaning

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant): Daisies or Sunflowers

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

So sorry the ND palette didn’t work for you. I had bad experiences with the 2 ND products I bought (eyeshadow and highlighter) and swore I would never blind buy her products again. Sadly, I feel her line is over-rated for the quality. I hope you can find something you’re happy with!

CeeBee Avatar

Haul: Just Colourpop this week – Meant to Be e/s duo, Deja Vu and Exotic blotted lips (undecided if I like these), Tough Love highlighter and the Short & Sweet lip set. Oh, and the brushes too, but I haven’t tried these yet.
I did muck about with one of the freebie CP pressed shadow palettes and you can pull out the silver pan holding insert (it’s just taped along the long sides with double sided sticky tape – takes a bit of careful manipulation but I got it out without damaging the rest of the palette, whoo!) and the whole base is magnetized and you can fit TEN pans in them, which is much more efficient, considering how bulky the palettes are for a “quad”. 🙂

Weekend plans: Our section needs some serious landscaping maintenance, so there’s that to do, as long as the rain holds off!

Favourite flowers/plants: I like orange roses and Dutch irises!

Haul

Flowers
I do not know the English name for my favourite flowers. But in general I never buy flowers and do not like getting flowers as a present. So flowers are nothing special for me.

Yay for Mellon! Thank goodness he has improved enough to have his meds lowered and he is looking like his old doggie self. Congratulations Christine – you are the best mum around.

Haul: nothing this week, but I am going to Sephora and Mecca Maxima next week, so who knows what I will pick up.
Weekend plans: the weather is going to be coolish over the weekend (yay) so we are doing some gardening on Saturday and on Sunday there is a family day at our football team’s (Essendon) ground, so the whole family is going.
Favourite flower: Roses

Lea Avatar

Haul: I picked up the Armani Chinese New Year highlighter and the Prima Smart Mousture Serum. Tom Ford Shimmer Shot in Sugar Sugar, Illuminsting Primer and Gratuitous blush. Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka Cologne Intense and pre-ordered Chantecaille matte mermaid trip and Marisa matte liquid lip.

Weekend Plans: no plans at the moment

Favorite Flower: Orchids

Lea Avatar

I like it, but I’m partial to his Bicoastal blush and like a buildable formula. I’ve only used Bicoastal and the blushes in the soleil palettes, so I don’t have reformulation disappointment.

Lulle Avatar

Haul: a few matte lipsticks from Essence during their Valentine’s Day sale, and the new hyaluronic acid moisturizer from Peter Thomas Roth.
Weekend plans: making kimchi with friends tomorrow, a spinning/sculpt class, and not sure about anything outdoors because we’re expecting a storm here in Southern California.
Favorite flower/plant: I like tulips, peonies, daffodils, and for plants succulents and palm trees!

So glad to hear about Mellan’s liver enzyme markers now looking good! I guess he doesn’t have autoimmune hepatitis after all!

Pearl Avatar

Yay Mellan! That is great news, Christine!

Haul:
Just ordered Tom Ford blushes Savage, Ravish, Flush, Frantic Pink, Love Lust, and Wicked in the old formulas and the 3 new formulas Disclosure, Inhibition and Gratuitous. They should be here between 2/22 and 3/10 (Disclosure is backordered).
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
MAC x 9 Navy and Purple (on sale at Nordstrom)

Weekend plans: Staying in because the sky is about to open up and it’s supposed to be pretty wet until Sunday. I had the day off so went to a few wineries for my pickups (it was heaven, barely anyone there) and I just finished making homemade Chili Verde, a tasty bolognese sauce and chicken and rice soup. Our DVR is full of all the shows we need to catch up on from the week so I’m lookng forward to just lounging around and staying in my pajamas all weekend if I have anything to say about it.

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)?: Orchids, Jasmine, Roses. And grass! I love grass! Yay for grass! (We just repaired our sprinkler system). It’s been barren in the backyard for over a year and we finally have some greenery back there and it looks lovely again.

Claire L Avatar

Haul: Latest in Beauty pick 3 box, I chose Givenchy Rouge mini in Rose Dreaming, Elemis Botanicals body cream, and Skimono anti ageing sheet mask, got a free Merci Handy hand sanitiser in New Wave and free LiB makeup bag.

Plans for weekend: Relax as much as possible, my fiancé was out 3 evenings in a row this week so I didn’t get any help with our 3 year old daughter or the house chores etc. So after a big barney tonight, he’s agreed to let me relax this weekend and look after our little girl. On Mon I’ve been invited to a 4 hour Caudalie event which I’m looking forward to but not the travel ?, it’s 1.5 hours drive there and 1.5 back home. I’m hoping my stamina holds up, it’s not the greatest. Still, there’ll be demos, facials, and samples, perhaps even a gift bag ?.

Favorite flowers: Roses first and foremost, cherry blossom, peonies, and for the smell, jasmine and honeysuckle.

Great news about Mellan’s results, is he looking and feeling better now? That is great they caught it and treated it early, before long term damage was done. Hope that eases your worries a bit.

We’re rejoicing here that Mellan’s tests came back with much better numbers. What a sweetie! I’ve got a fur-girl here with her own liver problems, so we can empathize. Hopefully, your sweet boy’s issues are totally on the mend. I found that keeping my Princess Leia well hydrated (adding salt free bone broth to each meal and as a snack before bedtime) went a long way towards relieving her painful symptoms, as she was passing stones. Ask your vet if this would be appropriate for your Mellan, of course.
This weeks haul: Mall crawl with a Sephora visit netted a Lancome Metallique lippie in 01-Polished Rose <3!, a Sephora Sollection liquid eyeliner, brown w/glitter ("Animal Instinct") plus a couple "Sephora Collection" face, lip and eye sheet masks in their 'Rose" formulation. I'm truly addicted to these as they really hydrate my aging skin… AND smell divine! Also, a generous online haul of Colour Pop's latest eye shadows, Had to collect their newest shades in duochrome greens, shimmery pinks and violets for fun eyelooks in spring.
Lastly, my favorite flowers are (obviously!) fragrant, old fashioned roses. Plus, I adore the scent of spicy carnations, pinks and stock flowers, too. And lastly, Hawaiian Plumeria! I just wish I could grow it here. *sad face*
Hope you're staying dry in this unusually rainy winter here in CA.!

Haul: Basq stretch mark oil; herbivore rose scrub (replenish, already gone through one jar in the last month- this winter is KILLING my skin)

Weekend: birthing class with the hubby, friends over for brunch on Sunday.

Flowers: peonies, roses, tulips

WildDove Avatar

Haul:
Becca Prismatic Amethyst,
Lancôme Le Metallique lip in Polished Rose,
First Aid Beauty – Face Cleanser,
Versace Eros pour Femme,
Juliette has a Gun – Mmmm… (travel size).

Flower / plant:
Big and tropical-looking like Hawaiian ginger, cannas, elephant ears, oleanders,
jacaranda trees, eucalyptus trees, tall palm trees.

WildDove Avatar

The Le Metallique is dry and very sticky. If one were using it alone, I’d suggest a lip balm first, and top it all off at the end with a pop of a clear moisturizing gloss. I’m just using the Le Metallique as a pop of metallic in the center of the lower lip, blended out, over a lipstick.

I have other metallic liquid lip products from NYX, Milani, and Colour Pop, and they’re all kind of like this as well — with Colour Pop being the most fluid and free flowing in application, so much so that it’s easy to get too much on!

Stephanie Avatar

Yay, Mellan! ?

Haul: nothing this week, but I didn’t talk about what I got myself for my birthday last week, sooooo…

Tarteist Pro Palette – This is one of my favorite palettes. It’s so good that it is right up there with ABH Modern Renaissance and KVD Metal Matte.

NYX Duochromatic Illuminating Powders – Lavender Steel, Synthetica, and Crushed Bloom

The NYX Liquid Suede Vault (on clearance for $25 at Ulta)

Zoya nail polish in Britta (also on clearance at Ulta, and so beautiful)

A couple of single Ulta eyeshadows in workhorse shades (also on clearance) – Camel and Yogurt

Weekend plans: taking the kids to a Mardi Gras parade tomorrow, housecleaning, and other things. Also, Monday’s a holiday, so I’ve got a long weekend! ?

Favorite flower/plant: Carnivorous plants like Venus flytraps and pitcher plants! Also roses.

Carmen Avatar

Wow, great results on Mellan’s levels! You must be thrilled and relieved; that is such good news.
Is he eating well, on a special diet?
Good luck with his continuing improvement.

Christine Avatar

He isn’t on a prescription food, but we did change to a food lower in copper (his old food had about 22 mg/kg, and his new food is 7.5 mg/kg – the prescription is 4.5 mg/kg) and lower in protein (easier on the liver). Right now, I am feeding him three different foods to get him to eat a full meal, but he is eating well!

Lacey J. Avatar

Haul: Juvias place Saharan palette. I have a one eyeshadow palette a year rule now, so I hope I picked the right one.

Weekend Plans: I work weekends but I get off work early enough, my boyfriends bday is next Wednesday so we are just going to go out with friends this weekend, nothing fancy really.

Flowers: No fav really but I love orange and yellow flowers of any kind.

Deborah S. Avatar

Yeah for Mellan. I am so happy that his test results have improved. Must be such a relief to you.

Haul: Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser, Sunday Riley Good Genes and Sunday Riley Tidal for my daughter and for myself the Ceramic Slip and The Good Genes. Sugarpill Feline Fancy Collection, Clinique Long Lasting Lipstick in Runway Melon, MAC Whirl lipstick, Buxom Plumpline Lip Liner in Scandulous and Restricted. Becca Rose Quartz Highlighter and Chanel Code Elegante (I loved the Subtil so wanted to get the other quad.).

Weekend Plans: Nothing really. We are suppose to be getting rain which is forecast to last for the next 10 days and with the amount of snow on the ground it is worrisome that we may have localized flooding. I think my house is safe but of course, I still have my leaking roof to deal with. I am concerned about some of the neighboring houses as they are closer to the river. So, need to be available to help others if the worst case scenario happens.

Favorite Flower: It is hard to choose. I love roses and peonies but we have amazing wild flowers here in Montana and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Queen Anne’s Lace and white daises which both grow across all the fields and on the forest floor.

MASSIVELY AWESOME FOR YOUR BABY BOY!!! Such exciting news. My Thurs day job boss brought in her babysat dogs …three labs: two fox reds and a small dilute black. She’s steel color. Gorgeous. one of the fox reds is a perfect blockhead. Maybe some non Lab people don’t realize that’s a total compliment. And her own…two border collies and this wonderful, wired huge galumphing guy that is mostly Pyr. Why that woman is not a dog trainer, I’ll never know! Absolutely thrilled about Mellan’s tests! Haul: knew I wouldn’t make no buy through another month. I hit that UD Ulta thing. Never did a short window thing before. Got UD ultimate basics, the Nyx gloomy palette, lavender steel, and the cooler essence blush. Prob Tues, maybe tomorrow. Plans: ssdw with night job, but cut back and have mon off from both jobs. Think I’ll head down to CCO tomorrow am. I called, when you first broke the tf news, but they had none. Haven’t been there in ages, anyway. Never leave there empty-handed. Flowers: daffs, jonquils, narcissi.

Christine Avatar

I love fox red coloring! Mellan is a deeper yellow but not quite fox red, but he is darker than most yellow labs I know (though if I recall correctly, fox red is still technically yellow).

Sounds like a lot of dogs on Thursday! Doggy heaven 😉

Haul: MAC Betty Boop Red lipstick (I like matte lipsticks, but OMG this one is SOOO incredibly drying), the Cargo You Had Me at Aloha Eyeshadow Palette. I really like this palette with the exception of the yellow shade- it looks horrible on me. I’m trying to branch out a little bit and wear a little more color on my eyes, and was able to use the four shades on the middle including the teal, so I’m pretty happy with it. I also got the Sugarpill Feline Fancy Palette- God only knows if I’ll figure that one out, but it called to me and I had to have it. Besame Wild 0rchid. The only other thing I can think of this week was a stupid bellapierre Glowing Pallette that was at TJMaxx. It was a dud and I miss my $7.99. Weekend Plans: Visited my son tonight, work Saturday, work tomorrow evening. Favorite flowers: Easter flowers, (Daffodils?), Tulips, Peonies, Lilac!!!

Been Lurking for a while & finally decided to comment- Hello from Ireland!

Haul: Only placed orders this week, waiting for a big Colourpop order (mainly eyeliners & Satin Lips). Placed an E.L.F order as I’ve never tried any of their products & want to test them. Also placed an order with Kylie Costmetics for the Burgundy Palette & Koko K Lip kit.

Weekend plans: Big family get together with extended family

What is your favorite type of flower (or plant)? Peonies- Planning to have them as my bouquet when I get married next year 🙂

Debbie Avatar

First things first, kisses to Mellan. I am so happy that he is doing better.

I had to replace my MAC Nylon and Ricepaper shadows this week.

I’m off this weekend, so playtime and family time.

Favorite flower…Daises, roses and orchids

Eileen Avatar

Woo-hoo! That’s wonderful news about Mellon’s latest blood tests! You and your husband are such wonderful parents and take such great care of Mellon. He’s lucky to have you and you’re lucky to have him ❤️

kjh Avatar

Hi, Mellan, again. So glad you’re doing better! CCO ALERT! Even though I called and they had no TF old formula blushes, I went anyway. They are having 20% off on $100. Wound up adding the Zac Posen eyes to make the 100. So, for 100 & tax: zac, pearl blossom beauty powder, 2 colored mascara to prep for MAC’s really big colorshow (beets me and high esteem), black honey pop, technakohl liners in clay and metalhead, fathoms deep, and, don’t even go there STAVROS. OMBFG, it’s 90% of one of my old Dior favorites, Violet Metal. The latter has a bit more red in the violet aspect. One good haul; well worth the drive; a thorough stomp on my no buy this week. Yay. Big yay, many were wishlisted, and now I have a tiny tom ford. Lots of yay.

Alicia Avatar

So glad you’re dog is doing better! What a cutie! So, I thought I was being pretty good after last week’s Makeup Geek pickups, and the previous week’s Revolution lipstick pick ups from Urban Decay. I went into a Kiko Milani store this week and left with nothing. (I might have to go in again sometime and pick up at least ONE thing…I mean, it’s a new brand to me, so how could I get NOTHING?!) Anyway, I checked with my brother in the U.S. to see what shipments came in, and then remembered my UD Kickbacks on the website, and decided to finally give in and buy the Electric Palette on sale for $24 (with my UD $20 kickback, it was $4 and change!). I feel like it was some sort of reaction to a) having received the Naked2 palette and the Ultimate Basics palette for Valentine’s Day, and b) my husband turning 40 this week. I’m thrilled to have more variety of nudes and mattes in my collection, but I wanted something young and vibrant and fun to counteract that feeling of getting older! I’m not quite sure how I will use the colors yet…I want to try to use pops of color in a way that is wearable for every day around this small town I’m in (where you don’t see a lot of eyeshadow on the women here at all, let alone hot pinks and neon greens). I’m thinking on the lower lid, as liner with simple looks, and maybe light touches on the inner corner or in the crease. I’ll be back in the U.S. in April to play around with all the goodies I had shipped there, and this one will be the most fun of the bunch to experiment with, I think! Hope everyone is having a nice start to this week, and I look forward to reading through all the great items everyone picked up!

Alicia Avatar

Oops, I missed the other two questions…well, we celebrated my husband’s birthday this weekend! Dinner with his parents on Friday night, out with friends to a pub on Saturday, and then a nice lazy day on Sunday with birthday cake and plenty of episodes of The Office to watch.

I love flowers and plants in general, so this is a hard question…also, living in The Netherlands, you get to see so many gorgeous flowers! From bright, delicate florals to hearty succulents, I love them all!
