Free for Haul Friday, Volume #314
Welcome to Free For Haul Friday!
- Haul: Well, my Origins order actually arrived this week (but I mentioned it last week). A bajillion Sephora orders — the last two (I think) Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors I didn’t have, Glamglow masks (small sizes), Laura Mercier #001 Matte Radiance, Marc Jacobs Beauty Coconut Face Primer, Lancome Bi-Facil, and then some eyeliners/lipsticks from various brands (you’ll see in coming weeks!)
- Weekend plans: Hubby’s reclining chair is due to arrive Saturday AM, and he’s excited for that (he’s always wanted one), and I’m hoping to steal it from him! I also need to hang curtains in a few rooms.
- Do you have any hidden talents?: I don’t think I do! I like jigsaw puzzles and can put them together faster than most people I know (but I don’t think I’m crazy fast!), though I wouldn’t really call that a talent!
Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group! 🙂
Makeup vanity goals!! <3 xxx
🙂
Where is Mellan? Did he take the photo?
Your makeup room is amazing!
Haul: Sephora 20% off: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, Besame Short and Long Hair brushes,
CLINIQUE Even Better Essence Lotion for Oily Skin, Marc Jacobs Night Owl eyeshadow palette, Marc Jacobs Supreme eyeshadow palette, Lancome Effacerne undereye concealer, Bobbi Brown eyeshadows in Velvet Plum and Rose Gold, May Coop Raw Sauce in trial size, Burberry eyeshadow palette in Gold, cream eyeshadow in Pearl Grey, DRUNK ELEPHANT T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum, Kat Von D eyeshadow in Thunderstruck, and Urban Decay eyeshadow in Loaded!
Weekend plans: Volunteering at the Humane Society with my husband, maybe seeing Spectre, although we keep hearing it isn’t very good. And cleaning and organizing.
Do you have any hidden talents? I can curl my tongue and touch my tongue to my nose…are those talents? Or just genetic quirks provided for entertainment purposes? I’m ambidextrous, but again, genetic… People don’t usually know that I can draw well, because I haven’t drawn much in years. Mostly confined to doodling while on the phone now.
He is milling about in the last half (near the black dressers) 🙂
Nice Sephora haul, Pteetsa! Those are all certainly hidden talents, but perhaps your drawing skills are the most hidden 🙂
I just have a blank space after the picture of your dressing table. I have no video showing. Am I the only one?
Christine any idea why?
No idea! It is working for me. It’s Instagram’s code (just copied and pasted), but here is a direct link: https://www.instagram.com/p/93pqX2SPwg/
Thank you! Looks like you have a lot of space. I need your organizing skills! 🙂
HAUL: Worst nightmare: my Sephora package arrived (yay for a second), with my name on the shipping label. Inside of the package, was someone else’s merchandise, worth $99. I called Customer Service and the girl was like, dang I bet that person has your stuff!!! (mine worth a lot more than that, sigh). And according to the record that person hadn’t called in…yet. So Sephora re-placed my order and re-shipped it, refunded me the difference since there are two items currently out of stock, and promised to give me the same 20% off on these two items when I order again via phone in the future. And I will return the wrong package as soon as possible. I have no intention of keeping things that don’t belong to me. I am ok with this solution, but man, what a chaos!
(in the package, there were Giorgio Armani Designer Lift foundation, several Sephora Collection high shine lip gloss, Glamglow cleanser, Marc Jacobs face primer, and multiple Sephora Collection eyeliner)
Weekend plan: Relax, it’s rain season, I’ll stay in and have hot chocolate.
Hidden Talent: haha I don’t know. Maybe the fact that I’m nerdier than most people think I am, is a hidden talent?
Oh no!! That really sucks. I have had that happen once 🙁 It was the same situation, too, my order was much more $$ than the one I got!
Oh wow, so sorry about your Sephora order!
Wow that’s way better customer service than I received when Sephora messed up my huge order during the last VIB Rouge sale. My package showed up with only the first page of my packing slip and less than half my order, I called them and was told “oops too bad, just order stuff again at full price when it’s back in stock.” It took over a hour on the phone, and a lot of frustration to get them to correct their mistake, which they went to great pains to tell me they were doing as a “one time favor.”
Here’s hoping for a better experience with today’s haul:
Beauty blender gift set, blackup concealer, nars sheer glow foundation, first aid beauty eye cream, mufe primer, and Juliette has a gun sampler set. I was good and kept it relatively small this time, my beauty spending has been out of control these last few months. :/
omg that really sucks! I mean we put loyalty in Sephora to become top tier customers who deserve the reward as they promised. I actually called twice to straighten up the 20% off discount coz the first time they placed my order in original price and left out my out-of-stock items.
I recently received the incorrect order from Sephora, too! I wonder what is going on in their shipping department? The order I received was worth around the same amount as the one I placed… but I NEEDED the items I ordered as I was running out of something. Sephora did straighten things out for me, so it ended well.
Oh Mellaaaan, where are you??
*Haul – Too much stuff! BITE #11 (love!!) From Ulta 20% off sale, Laura Geller Delectables Baked Shadow palette. Maybelline lipstick in Craving Coral, Too Faced shadow primer and glitter glue. Elf Illuminating Palette (yes, it’s baaack!), Hydrating Under Eye Primer, brushes. MAC shadows in Ascent of Glamour and the Moon is Blue (OMG, the blue has cray pigment), Sephora 20% off sale – NARS Lovejoy Blush, Sephora Matte Contour Gel Eye Pencils in Navy & Sea if I care, Sephora Bright Future Concealer, Living Proof Dry Shampoo (it works really well), FAB face cream, FAB 5-in-1 Age Sunscreen, Josie Maran Hydrating Mist (love! got backup for office), Verb Shampoo/Conditioner, Sephora Honey Sleeping Mask, Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Full Coverage Foundation Concentrate (exchanged for my matching shade)
*Weekend – test out all my makeup goodies!
*Hidden Talent – not that I know of
He’s right there in the video! Last half of it 🙂
Those MAC eyeshadows are intense! It was a pleasant surprise from MAC. Glad you were able to get your right shade in the new foundation. What do you use to apply?
Oh, I didn’t realize it was a video! There’s my sweet boy, wagging his happy tail. Awww…and great makeup room! The MJ foundations run light, but good thing there are 24 shades. I’m light/light medium and had to go to #27. It was sold out online during the sale, so I had to run to the store and grab the last ones. Some shades are also very yellow, so get samples. I’ve been using over the Kat Von D Primer, which is more hydrating for winter (thanks for the tip, Nicole!), and the IT Foundation brush works great. I dot on my face, then sweep the color around with the brush. MJ recommends buffing it in with a brush, but I find that looks too heavy. Only need 1 tiny drop, and my whole face is covered and it lasts all day and night. It’s a soft matte, but if I want to look more glowy, I spritz with MAC Prep & Prime or Josie Hydrating Mist
Glad you were able to catch it! 🙂
Thank you for the tips on the MJB foundation!
Katherine, what do you think of the Geller eyeshadow palette? I love everything of hers I’ve bought so far but the only shadows I’ve tried are the Cool Lids cream ones (which are amazing btw).
I was planning to test them this weekend, will keep you posted! The colors reminded me of the MAC Haute Dog quads in Posh Pedigree and Purebred, so that’s why I got it. Do you think the Cool Lids cream shadows will be good for oily lids?
Oh wait, I have one. I’m very petite, but people are always surprised by how much I can eat, although I still have to watch it. I thank my dad for the lucky genes.
Haul: Viseart Dark Mattes and Bridal Satin palettes, Marc Jacobs Eyecon Palette, Guerlain Kiss Kiss lipstick, Beauty Blender Cleanser solid, Nars Eye Paint in Black Valley, Benefit Gimme Some Brow, all the Kat Von D eyeshadow singles, Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder Pink Glow, Nars eyeshadow brush #40 (swoon), and Hourglass All Over Shadow Brush #3.
Weekend plans: I don’t have to work this weekend, yay! Going to have a family meal night with my children and grand daughters on Satirday night: homemade guacamole and pulled pork soft tacos. I’m so hungry already!!!
Hidden talents: You’ll have to ask my husband?!
Yay for Viseart palettes! Which of MJB’s palettes did you get?
Have a lovely weekend, Tammy!
I got the big holiday limited edition palette from Marc Jacobs. I’m giving it a go because you said such nice things about it, Christine! I’ve never tried Marc Jacobs before.
<3
NICE room!
Haul: Urban Decay Naked 2 Lip Liner. Not usually a lip liner gal, but I wanted to try a good nude lip liner and this didn’t disappoint! Super close to my natural lip colour so it’s nice for stuff like layering under nude lipstick or just evening out my lip colour and popping some sheer gloss on.
Weekend Plans: Nothing? Just catchup on a lot of TV I’ve missed.
Hidden Talent: Don’t know? A couple of years ago I might have said liquid eyeliner, because while I am beyond terrible at art and drawing and even colouring within lines, I found it much easier than most of my friends even with no practice.
I really like UD’s lip liners! Those are my favorite.
Haul: Fresh Rose Face Mask, Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer with SPF, the YSL Black Red lipstick (couldn’t resist! And it smells so good!), Audacious Lipstick in Barbara, Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight highlight (surprised me by being waaayyy too dark for my skin, looked dirty on me, will have to return), and a few MUFE Shadows and Sephora Shadows in a bunch of light beige/peachy matte colors. I intended on trying out all the shadows and just keeping a few, but I am liking most of them! The Sephora ones are totally up to par with MUFE.
Weekend: Christmas shopping! I always start early.
Hidden Talent: I’m good at crosswords and other word/logic puzzles, but don’t usually do them with other people 🙂
It’s good to get a start on your Christmas shopping early! Less stress, great prices 🙂
Ginny, Candlelight is too dark on me too! If you’re near an Ulta, check out the Laura Geller highlighter in French Vanilla. It’s been working for me. Alternatively, the Bobbi Brown one in Porcelain is super light – but you need to be light-handed with it and be sure to swipe the colors together or it looks white.
Thank you! I love Bobbi Brown’s highlighters–hadn’t thought about her finishing powders but I just put it on my list 🙂
Candlelight highlight is my skin tone as well. I like it as it gives my skin a glow but it doesn’t add a highlighted tone on it’s own.
Love your makeup vanity! Aww at Mellan hiding from the camera!
Haul: There’s 3 packages waiting for me at the Post Office depot, they didn’t deliver to me but left a calling card ? 3 days in a row. I’ll have to drive over there and collect them, but have been busy lately (and knackered from lack of iron!). On the plus side, I got freebies with magazines: a mini Clinique Cherry Pop, a deluxe size Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair II, deluxe L’Occitane hand cream in Vanilla. I love the Cherry Pop, I looked up your review of it and an delighted it came out well. It’s also a dupe for MAC’s Brave Red which I was procrastinating about getting since you reviewed the Guo Pei collection. Win!
Plans for weekend: Nothing much, hibernating and food shopping. Hurricane Abigail has hit us so the weather’s atrocious atm!
Special talent: I can draw and paint a bit.
I hope you’re able to make the drive over soon to get your packages. Hate when that happens 🙁
Stay safe and dry!
Haul: no makeup again. I might order from the Sephora VIB sale today though.
Weekend Plans: Fixing our roof and cleaning the yard! We got hammered by a thunderstorm with high winds a few days ago, and we have a bunch of branches down plus a chunk of our gutter and fascia ripped off.
Hidden talents: I’m actually a really good singer and I used to sing the National Anthem for my high school sporting events.
Did you end up getting anything from the sale?
Poor roof!
Haul:
Sephora Rouge Sale: Included in last week’s Haul. I wanted to get a number of other items (like the Burberry Kisses and Bobbi Brown lipsticks) but they were all sold out. Most have come back in stock for the VIB Sale but Rouge can’t use the VIB code. I tried calling Sephora and held for an hour and fifteen minutes before I gave up and sent an email.
Beauty.com (20% off): Fashion Fair Bag/Eyeshadow/Lipstick GWP, Butter LONDON Scrubbers 2-in-1 Remover Wipes, Laura Geller Retractable Baked Powder Brush, Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer Sample, Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner sample, Laura Geller Piece of Cake Collection (Fair foundation, Roseberry blush, Amethyst/Unearthed eyeshadow duo, Peach Buttercream lipstick, Black mascara, 2 brushes), Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair Eye Treatment Sample, Laura Geller Spackle Undereye Multicare Eye Primer
HSN (20% off): Trish McEvoy retinol eye cream and Trish McEvoy No. 6 Mandarin and Ginger Lily Eau de Toilette
Neiman Marcus: Lollia Wish Shea Butter soap and Cue Member GWP: Givenchy Le Rouge Mini lipstick, Giorgio Armani Ecstasy Mini lipcolor, YSl lip sampler. I had considered getting the Givenchy duo from Sephora, but when I thought about it, it made no sense to pay $25 for 2 minis when I could get one free (same color of rose) plus the Armani and YSL lipsticks/glosses/plumpers also for free with what for me was a $10 soap purchase.
Weekend plans: Go to the bank to close an account since my bank sold out and I’m moving my accounts to a new bank. Take my 3 y/o cat, Trouble, to the vet for his vaccines (shhhhhh don’t tell him!), go to the butcher to place an order for Thanksgiving…and…wait for it….work on my daughter’s house.
Do you have any hidden talents?: Well, if I told you, they wouldn’t be hidden anymore! 🙂
I bet you’ll be happy when your daughter’s house is all done!! 🙂
Fabulous hauls, Michele. What are you most enjoying so far?
Working on Rachel’s house is endless! I also am trying to get my house back together and move back downstairs to my master suite (which she lived in). After almost 2 years, redoing the space and moving everything back is almost like a move in itself! Goal is to be done by the end of this year.
Since I love a bargain, I really am loving the FREE Givenchy rose lipstick. It came in a small embossed black box with a slide out. So the packaging was as fab as the lipstick! (Also the Lollia Wish soap was a great find for $10. I love the quality and the scent.)
Your makeup room is always so clean and organized! It looks good!
I have a billion Sephora orders too. I wound up placing at least one each day of the sale.lol
Fri online- Mufe primer radiance peach(for under eyes),D&G lipstick in Inferno, Amore Pacific the Natural protector sunscreen, Skin Inc Get Glowing Custom blended serum, Loccitane foot cream, Armani Luminous silk foundation in 6.25( may need to exchange for 6), Mini Klorane dry shampoo, and a few Clinique skin care items for my daughter

Sat. online- Tony Moly Age defying Snail hydro-gel face mask, Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey pigment duo ( Rosegold got damaged in transit! II called and they were sold out by then. Sephora agreed to refund my $ and I am keeping the product. I managed to smoosh the remaining pigment down into the pot.so sad They are just stunning.),Jack Black lip Balm
Sun online: YSL VIB rouge lipstick, Buxom Scoundrel
Mon online-Living proof Full shampoo and conditioner and dry shampoo, and Viseart Dark matte and Paris Nude palettes!
Weekend plans: I decided to upgrade the bottle of Tom ford Noir Pour Femme I bough to the gift set and Nordstrom has a good sale going on and me and my daughter need some fall/winter clothes. So, I think a mall trip is in order. Plus, usual laundry, etc.
Hidden talents: Hmm.. I’m kinda ambidextrous. I write with my left hand the best. I can write with my right hand okay. I think it’s because my grandma used to try to make me write right handed.
Have a nice weekend!
Ha! The hard part is keeping it that way.
LOL! I think I ended up with 8 orders altogether 😉 It’s so tough to stay good! I also grabbed Tom Ford Noir Femme! Have you had a chance to try that one yet?
I have tried it. I get most of my Tom Ford via phone with a SA in Texas because there are no counters within a couple hours of me. She sends me tiny bottles of many of his fragrances! I could probably get away with not buying the full-sizes because I don’t wear fragrance daily. But, I love seeing the pretty bottles, lol!
I see you finally got your Viseart palettes! Glad they weren’t sold out during the sale 🙂 Do you like the Amore Pacific sunscreen?
Haha! I’m glad they weren’t also! It was a last minute thing on Sunday! I’m loving the dark matte a ton. It’s made me realize how poorly most other dark mattes are now, lol! I 100% will vouch for those palette being worth the $80!
I love the AP sunscreen. It’s more hydrating than the Supergoop. So, I prefer it in winter espescially.
I have Paris Nudes (love!) and was eyeing their Matte palettes but the colors don’t work that well for me, but I’m hoping they will release new ones. So far, the fall/winter here has been mild, but if things get colder and drier, good to know about that Amore Pacific sunscreen . I love the Kat Von D primer you recommended! BTW, you mentioned an upcoming birthday, hope I didn’t miss it. Happy Birthday!!
I must talk a lot about that upcoming Birthday! It’s not even until February! But, It’s 40. So, it’s haunting me. I’m glad you like the KVD primer.Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! 🙂
Haul: Sibu Lotion and Seed oil as well as Great Lakes Collagen Powder. Maybe something from Sephora.
Weekend Plans: Same stuff as usual. Games and food shopping.
Hidden Talents: I have a ton of visible talents. Hidden…. hmmm. I can touch my nose with my feet while laying on my stomach. I can do weird things with my tongue and my arms. I probably could have been a contortionist with proper training from a young age.
I’m also very quick with puzzles. It’s a combo of logic and spatial reasoning!
What games did you play?
Haul: I went by LUSH and was very good, just got 2 of their holiday things (for now)- the Salt and Peppermint Bark Shower Scrub and the Baked Alaska Soap. I think my L’Occitane advent calendar or my November glossybox is showing up today as well. Oh! And Tarte was on Hautelook so I got 5 of their waterproof liners, 2 of their larger smudge sticks, and I threw in 3 Nails Inc Gel Effect polishes to my order as they were only $3.50 each. I love Hautelook!
Weekend plans: Maybe see if I can place an order on Sephora, though there isn’t much that’s within my budget that isn’t sold out already. Take it easy as some heavy stuff has been happening. Watch Netflix, eat gingerbread and cuddle with the cats.
Do you have any hidden talents?: Apparently I can procure newspapers out of thin air, according to my friends. Mostly I can find free ones like the local ones whenever we were at the CalTrain stations and they’d look away for 3 seconds and *bam* I’d have a newspaper on my lap. I am an encyclopedia of completely useless facts, to the point where people I know just randomly ask me for facts and one just blurts out. I can use chopsticks with my feet… I am really good at accents thanks to imitating my dad’s for basically my entire childhood. I can throw my voice well enough to confuse even the cats. I am a plethora of random talents without any helpful ones basically XD.
So posting this promoted me to finally place my VIB sale order so I just got 3 things, none of which are limited edition but I’ve been wanting them for a while so may as well get them for a little bit cheaper. I got the UD Naked Skin Concealer in Fair Neutral, the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 01 Always Red, and the holy grail, Kevin Aucoin’s Sculpting Powder in Medium. I am vvvv excited about that last one.
Yayy!! So glad you were able to get a few things on sale, Anne 😀
The Sephora box came in today and I just handed it off to my dad and had him check that the contents were correct and not damaged and then had him hide them from me until Christmas XD.
You must be really good at trivia then, Anne! I’m horrrrible at things like that. How cool!
Yeah my friends always used to drag me out to the student pub on quiz nights so they could win XD. I don’t drink or like crowds so they would buy me free food (and split the winnings of course) which I was always down for as a broke undergrad.

Weekend plans: Hopefully, I will be able to catch up on my tv shows. I’m currently behind on the Blacklist, Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and Drugs, Inc.
Do you have any hidden talents?: No.
I think I held my breath when reading that list! I see we have an Artist Shadow fan ;D
Yes, I finally completed my collection!
Haul: Sheet Masks! I was completely out so decided to order some that I’ve never tried before. Ended up getting like 15+…Dr. Jart, Leaders Insolution, Cel Derma, Missha, SKII, Tony Moly, etc. Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara in Very Black Waterproof. Finally picked up the right color! I accidentally picked up a brown one first. I actually loved it so much I ended up using the brown one but I was in Target and had to get it in Black.
Weekend Plans: Study and sleep and repeat…eating is included in there somewhere. Finals are coming up…
Hidden Talents: Not so hidden but I can sing, play violin (badly) and paint.
15 masks! Someone is going to have several very luxurious nights ahead of them 😉
I saw his tail and back half as he was investigating everything! LoL
Haul: Nothing UNTIL 1 a.m. last night when I placed my rather modest VIB sale order just before getting ready to go to bed! So Guerlain Air Kiss, Bite Kir Royale, some clearanced brush cleaner wipes, and samples are heading my way! I’m so excited!
Weekend plans: My usual drill; clean, condition and blow out this head full of getting-to-be-too-much hair! Nails still look passable, thank goodness.
Hidden talent?: Dancing! And singing! This 56 y.o. Glam-Ma can still twerk it! (in the privacy of my own home, that is!), keeps me in half-way decent shape, I guess. Too shy to sing publicly, although neighbors have heard me and asked why I never pursued it, had to tell them I have severe stage fright and then I choke.
So glad you got your VIB haul in!
Work it, Nancy! 🙂
Got my little package today, and like what happened to Katherine T. a week and a half ago….it came with a little something extra!?! And like Katherine, because I know they’ll just throw it out, I guess I’ll keep it? Makes me wonder whether this is common for Sephora or what?
I can’t get over the Tom Ford private blend collection on the black dresser in the back by Mellan! LOVE!
It’s one of my fave parts, too 🙂
Haul: A bunch of stuff from Sephora. A few perfumes-L’Artisan Parfumeur’s Fou D’Absinthe and Atelier Cologne’s Blanche Immortelle (online only ones that I already know I’m taking back), a bunch of Formula X nail polishes, some perfume samplers from Tocca, Juliette Has a Gun and Etat Libre D’Orange, Wen, Ciate London x Olivia Palermo lipstick sets that are also going back because for some odd reason the paler colors actually look awful on me, a manicure set, Ciate London x Olivia Palermo eyeliners in Fig and Black (pretty nice, imo), Lancôme moisturizer…and I think that’s about it.
I’ve got to complain though. This is bugging me so much. I had put in another order with Sephora for some other perfumes and nail polishes (they’ve both been kind of my obsession lately) and it got cancelled because they said that I bought too many items. They didn’t even tell me that at first. The first message was that my payment had been declined, which I knew was ridiculous because I used the same card I always use and I had the funds available. So I called their number and spoke with possibly the least helpful customer service rep ever. She simply said that I had too many items (like, altogether or in the one order, she didn’t even specify). She then suggested that I could reorder the items again, in smaller batches, without the 20% discount. I tried to ask her if she could run it through again as it was, and she didn’t comment, but started to go through my order and comment on the nail polish colors she thought were pretty (yes, really). So I got off the phone with her and emailed Sephora. It took them 3 days to get in touch with me, which I would have expected with the sale, but when they did get back to me they just said the same thing: I had too many items and they couldn’t let me buy any more because I would be depriving their other patrons. It was basically just a form letter. I mean, I guess my biggest problem with this is that the only items that I bought multiples of were Wen (3 sets) and the Ciate London lipstick trios (2 sets). Everything else was just one of each item. I would 100% understand if I was buying a ton of limited edition items and it looked like I might be one of those people who buys a lot and then sells it online for a ridiculous price, but how am I depriving other patrons by buying one each of a bunch of different nail colors and perfumes, all of which are permanent from their various companies? And of course, there was no mention from the customer service lady or the email of how many items I was over by, or an offer to change my order to include fewer items or anything remotely helpful. I am just filled with the feeling of being over Sephora.
Weekend plans: I finally finished moving, yay! So relaxing, probably. My mom might come up to see me, I’m still not sure of that yet. If not, maybe I’ll just walk downtown or go to the library. Hang around. I’m still pretty sore.
Do you have any hidden talents?: I have absolutely no idea. If I do they must be hidden from me too!
There’s something about L’Artisan Parfumeur that draws me, but so far I have been able to resist.
I can’t believe they declined you for too many items? That is so weird… If they were limiting quantities, they should have stated that on the site. I’m really sorry to hear that, Nicole 🙁 How awful.
L’Artisan Parfumeur draws me in too. From the two (Fou D’Absinthe and La Chasse aux Papillons) that I’ve tried, their perfumes really stand out to me as unique compared to really any others I’ve come across. I think they use more spice than most do. I’ve been sampling so many different perfume brands lately that it’s pretty refreshing to come across. I was pretty disappointed that Fou D’Absinthe didn’t work on me, since it’s right up my alley, but it wasn’t the perfume’s fault I don’t think. It smelled really nice out of the bottle, but it just didn’t work when I put it on my skin. I’m probably going to try it again before I take it back, just in case.
I actually went onto their website and ordered a discovery gift set of six minis for about $55 dollars and the perfume samples for $20. I only did that because if you buy under $50 you don’t get free shipping and I wanted to sample all of the ones in the sample box. If you’re under $50 the shipping is about as much as the samples. I know that’s kind of expensive for what is basically a bunch of samples, but it’s not like there’s a decent store where you can go and try them in person. Just thought I’d throw that out there in case you’re interested and didn’t know-Sephora doesn’t have their sample sets, I don’t think. Also, when you go on their website if you sign up for their newsletter (at the bottom of the page) you get 10% off your first order. I thought I’d save that for if I like any of the samples and decide to get a big bottle, lol.
Thank you! They really should have been more explicit. But the thing that killed me is that when I called the customer service rep she told me to place my order again in smaller batches…so it’s ok that I got that number of items, just not at one time? It doesn’t make sense because the cancelled order was actually smaller than some I’ve made in the past and not had a problem with.
I wish that Sephora were not as big as they are in the makeup world because I know so many brands only release through them, or release through them first and I just don’t want to give them my business any more. I mean right now, to make matters worse, they charged me for my order before they cancelled it and my money cleared, so now I’m waiting to get my money back. According to them it may take up to one billing cycle. I’m just so disgusted with them right now.
The discovery set would be a nice way to try it. I tend to buy samples and minis over full bottles, because you know… I’ll be unlikely to finish a bottle!
Haul: I lost my mind last week at the Sephora sale. Viseart eyeshadow palette in Paris Nudes, the “Save the Sea” Luna, large bottle of Pink Sugar, large bottle of Fresh Sugar, Fresh shower gels in Sugar Lemon and Life, Mi Vida Loca Eyeshadow palette, Glamglow Clearing mud, Sunday Riley kit with the Luna oil and Good Genes, Hourglass lip oil in Icon, Guerlain KissKiss Roselip, and Burberry Gold Glow highlight powder. I am going to have to go on a low/no buy in 2016.
Weekend Plans: Work on a new lesson plan template because I have changed my class schedule around again.
Hidden Talent: Ha! No talent of any kind. I wander through life.
Paris Nudes! Yay! Such a pretty palette. Hope you love it as much as me!
Mac eyeshadows in soft brown, antiqued, and texture, morning coffee pro lip liner, evening rendezvous lipstick, layin low paint pot, and 15 pan palette parts. Too Faced hangover primer, beauty blender solid cleanser, MUFE hydrating primer, Nars sheer glow foundation, Kevyn Aucoin celestial powder in candlelight, Caudelie mask set, Beauty Blender gift set, ABH self made palette, Anastasia dip brow pomade, Blackup radiant concealer, PTR glycolic acid serum & retinol fusion serum, and FAB eye cream.
Weekend plans: catching up on tv I missed this week, playing with new makeup, and lots of laundry. Nothing exciting.
Nice MAC eyeshadow picks, Mojha! All three are amazing shades.
I can just see him!. Your makeup room looks lovely – clean, uncluttered and organized.
Haul – well my adult children are busy ordering stuff for me for my up coming birthday, so I am thinking about what I really want. What I REALLY want is that bareMinerals Soft and Smoky Eye shadow palette you reviewed a few days ago, but it hasn’t been available (apart from the store you purchased it from – does not ship to Australia). So I am stalking Nordstrom, Beauty Bay etc waiting for it to show up.
Hidden talents: Not sure either – love cooking, a whizz at Trivia puzzles – that’s about it.
Thank you, Genevieve!
Aw, your children are sweet! 🙂
Happy Birthday Genevieve!
Haul: Tom Ford Lovelust blush and Tom Ford Indian Rose lipstick (after years of reading your blog I finally caved!).
Weekend plans: I’m at a math conference down in San Diego for the weekend.
Do you have any hidden talents? Horseshoes. Useful? Not so much.
Yessss! Lovelust!
It looks like your makeup room is coming along nicely.
Haul:
*Sephora VIB Rouge sale — I got the Tarte Bling It On blush palette and Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer in Bavarian Cream. It’s their lightest color, and it’s a perfect match for my skin. It actually adheres to my oily skin and stays put. Thanks for Karen at the Makeup & Beauty Blog for help choosing that one. I was actually really restrained this year, as I had gotten the two Urban Decay palettes last month, and I want the Tartelette in Bloom and UD Gwen Stefani palette when they come out. I just wasn’t feeling most of this year’s holiday collections.
*Looxi Beauty — Highlighters in Celestial (silver with light gold), Luna (icy blue), Voodoo (iridescent green), and Ever After (iridescent violet). They’re all stunningly ethereal looking and beautiful. The quality is wonderful, as well. Thanks to Momo for telling us about the brand!
*Other — LA Splash Dia de los Muertos Collection in Catrina. So cool! The Ipsy $20 Sangria Set of four Ofra Liquid Lipsticks. It had full-sizes of Ultimate Red, Mina, Pasadena , and New Orleans (which I already owned, but that’s fine). Four large Z-palettes , two black and two orange. I combined their Halloween special with my birthday coupon. E.l.f. baked eyeshadows in Burnt Plum, Pixie, Toasted, and Enchanted.
*
Weekend plans: I got my cast off, though I’ll be on crutches and in physical therapy for the next 3-4 weeks, but at least I can drive again. I’m hoping to chug over to Ulta and get the Tartelette in Bloom palette on Sunday.
Do you have any hidden talents? I am awesome at knitting, crocheting and hand embroidery.
Just realized today is online only for Tartelette in Bloom. I can’t order from their site any more. It doesn’t work and CS has no ideas. I’ve researched online, and other people are experiencing the problem, but no one has gotten a solution yet.
It’s pretty much done as far as I expect it to be! I should probably do something decorative over my bookcases, but I haven’t decided on what yet. Maybe move stuff off my other vanities, lol.
Great hauls, Rachel! I don’t know if you saw it, but Tarte also launched the palette on their site.
I did end up getting it from the Tarte website. It was easier than waiting and driving 30+ mins. to Ulta.
Oh… This is going to be long…

Whew! That is a massive haul! Any new favorites yet?
Hi Christine,
I’m loving everything Burberry! Also the Viseart palettes are dreamy and so is Chanel Beige perfume. 🙂
Sephora haul not yet mentioned: Bite latte/cortado, Nars Deborah & Leslie, Unlawful blush, UD Rapture blush (not in perfect condition, but not broken,) Besame Merlot OOS @ Besame, Lolita 1 &2: quite ladylike for KVD. Ulta NYX: the dark matte l/s set, SmashBox Gemstone liner, some other stuff. Now for the Nars f&f. Hope they still hold it. Like some of their exclusives, like Despair.
Plans: night job, online CEUs, making eggplant with pomegranate and fish cakes.
Talent: none really, but I recognize virtually all dog breeds: even spotted a Gul Terr import (Pakistani hill tribe breed) and I’m good on birds, and improving my weeds, ornamental trees, and other plants. I’m heavily curious, and don’t like when I don’t know what things are. Everything in our environment deserves our knowledge and respect.
I just grabbed some of the Mix ‘n’ Mingles… somehow missed them during the sale.
It’s quite impressive that you can actually recognize all the dog breeds! I need your knowledge on identifying all the plants in my yard, LOL!
Mellan seems a bit camera shy!
Haul: ABH Self-Made; Clinique What’s The Skinny Set; and a few hair and skincare necessities during Sephora’s 20% off sale. I also purchased a Marc Jacobs face brush… and it looks used! It’s unavailable online now but the website says it’s available in store.
Weekend plans: I need to put summer things away so I can better organize for winter. I hope to exchange the MJ brush at Sephora, which is really close to the restaurant with the famous clam chowder, so maybe my husband and I will be able to get out of the house alone *this* weekend. =)
Do you have any hidden talents?: Hidden? Hmmm… well, I see more variation in color than the average person, I can usually knock out the daily crossword puzzle in less than 15 minutes (but I rarely do them these days), and I can tell you the song title and artist of most popular 80’s music after hearing only three notes.
For once! Sometimes he is a ham, and sometimes he really has an attitude of, “seriously, again with the camera?”
I miss that show — Name That Tune! I bet you’d be good at that one 😉
Bought quite a bit at the VIB sale, including the Naked Smoky for my cousin (I have all 4 Nakeds). The only thing that has made me upset is that this haul made me VIB Rouge (OMG) and now I can’t use my VIB code anymore and only used it once. I called and they basically said I would have to call them for every order to get a one time code. Guess it keeps me from shopping more…still upset, wonder if the store can do something about it.
I got the following:
Sephora favorites time to prime
Living Proof happy hair kit
Estee Lauder skincare kit
Laura Mercier translucent powder
Sephora lashstash
Perricone MD lip set
Samplessss 🙂
Oh nooooo! At least they’re letting you call in!
What a lovely vanity you have, Christine.
Haul: Wayne Goss Brush 00 (formerly the Holiday brush) – can’t wait to try it! CCO: Bobbi Brown Finishing powder in Porcelain (50% off the outlet price), Bobbi Brown blush in Pastel Pink, and Bobbi Brown eye shadow base in light, THEN I learned they stock some Tom Ford makeup (what?!), so bought the Cognac Sable eye shadow palette (the only warm palette they had), a corrector pen, and 2 lipsticks. Will put together a small Sephora order this weekend.
Weekend Plans: Enjoy some down time. Research cell phones and catch up on paperwork although the nice weather might pull me away from this.
Hidden Talent: Hmmm. I tend to use my left hand much more than my ‘dominant’ right hand. Maybe I’m ambidextrous. (Is that a talent?)
Have a great weekend, everybody!
Thanks, Tracey!
Cognac Sable! Wow. I can’t believe they had that at the CCO. Great find 😀
Haul: Not much this week, actually. Still waiting for my BECCA order to arrive… Hopefully Monday!
Weekend plans: Cocktail night tonight!
Do you have any hidden talents?: Not really. Boo me.
Fingers crossed your order arrived!
I have been dreading this, I went a bit over the top this week. Next year will be a no palette year 🙂
So, here goes,
From Marc Jacobs: The Free Spirit es palette and the set with 5 lipsticks, I’m liking these a lit, so far.
From UD: the Vice Palette and finally the Naked 1 palette, haven’t had time to try these yet, but I like the other Naked palettes I have, and now I have all of the big ones, might need one of the basic ones, for some good mattes. I couldn’t help getting Vice, such pretty colours!
From Laura Mercier: though I know it didn’t get the best grades, Sleek & Chic Eye Colour Palette. I have wanted African Violet for a long time, but I got the palette for less than 3 LM singles, and I’ve been curious about her ES’s.
From Nars: Vera lipstick
From Sephora: Glitterguard, I couldnt find the glitter glue from Too Faced, and A lipstick(?) in an egg shaped package called Lucky Cherry, rather sheer, glittery, almost metallic.
From MUFE: Artist Shadow in M-600 and M-530.
From Formula X: Top coat nail polish and a set of 4 products for weak, peeling nails. I hope it’ll work!
And,
From Benefit Roller Lash, I got a sample, and I really like it.
It doesn’t look like a lot, but my walett was screaming.
Weekend, today mostly listening to the news from Paris, but I need to do some cleaning. It’s very autumn-y outsode, so I don’t feel like going for really long walks, and I daren’t go anywhere near a store, in case I see some NEED objects. 😀
If I have any hidden talents, they are very well hidden, I’ve not found any yet.
I love how Mellan almost managed to stay out of the video. He has a pretty tail, though. I love the look of your makeup room!
No palette year! You are brave 😉 Hopefully they are all middling and will be easy passes.
Vera! So glad you snagged that one.
Haul: ColourPop pencil liners in Boots and Puppy, and a back up of the lippie stix in Oh Snap! The eyeliners are another hyped product I’m disappointed with but ohwell, atleast they were cheap.
Weekend plans: I never have any weekend plans I realize! I got to dance and practice driving and that’s it.
Do you have any hidden talents?: Hmmm no, I’m pretty good at mental calculation maybe. But nothing crazy, it wouldn’t class as a talent!
Also your vanity is looking amazing!! So sleek and tidy. Mine is such a mess right now haha, I need to get more storage.
Do you like the liners at all or not at all?
The colours are amazing, and the pigmentation is pretty good. But they broke in several pieces when I first used them so I’m not sure if I’ll get much use of them anymore…
I found him!
I didn’t get too much, wishing I had grabbed a few extra things. 2 packs of the beloved shiseido cotton, fresh Umbrian clay mask, black tea instant infusion, drunk elephant c-firma day serum, and two sets of Sephora favorites cologne samplers for my boys for Christmas. Wish I had grabbed the new Kat Von D palette, Kevin Acouin palette. And MUFE stick foundation.
May I ask where you found the mirror over your vanity? I am thinking of getting the same vanity if I don’t get the Merideth from Pottery Barn. Huge difference in price! ?
I always get sale regret, too, Jeana!
The mirror is from Ikea 🙂 http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20288699/
Haul: Big haul this week after the Sephora sale! Bite Beauty Mauvember (x2), all the duo Mix ‘n Mingles, and Opal lipstick. Repurchase of FAB radiance pads, Too Faced Melted French Kisses set, Kevyn Aucoin sculpting book, T3 voluminous hot rollers, tarte eye liner brush, and Bobbi Brown long wear eye set. I also bought the 100mL Nirvana White for my mom (also repurchase). I spent points on a Clinique set, a Nest fragrance, MUFE powder, and D&G Light Blue fragrance.
Weekend plans: Yesterday I went to brunch to catch up with a friend and went to a show, da kink in my hair, with my mom. It was a great day! Today I’ll go for a run and have some homework.
Do you have any hidden talents? Nope! 🙂
Perhaps you’re a Bite Beauty fan… hard to tell 😉
