Last weekend I bought some Armani things – the new Maestro foundation (loving so far), an AMAZING red lipstick, and an ETK eyeshadow.
I’m going out of town this weekend for a wedding. Should be lovely!
I also love scarves and boots, and I’ll add tights too. But here in SoCal, we have another month at least before it’s cool enough to tolerate wearing such things, and probably two before it really makes sense.

Weekend plans: Cocktails for a friend’s birthday tonight. Not much else.
Favorite part about autumn?: EVERYTHING! Scarves, boots, hats, smokey eyes, vampy lips, clothes in black, maroon and dark green, leather, velvet, soft knitwear, the colours of the leaves, the smell in the air, Halloween and Bonfire Night! Damn, I love this time of year.

Haul: I’m waiting on my shady lady vol. 2 and nude’tude from theBalm hautelook sale. I got orly “toast the couple”. I also got my glossybox the other day with Koh Gen Do cleansing water, Missha BB cream, and an odd smelling lipstick.
Weekend plans: Well I skipped work today because I have to keep watch over our Lucy the Husky. In the middle of the night she decided she was going to eat a very large amount of carpet. I mean…the thing looked like a crater. She got some of the foam and the wood too. Unfortunately we rent this place so we’re in a bit of a dilemma and need to sort that out this weekend. So plan…puppy vomit watch and fixing a ruined carpet.
Favorite part about autumn: turning the air conditioners off! they mess with my skin so bad and dry my nose out 🙁

Haul: Maybelline Color Tattoo in On & On Bronze, La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5, some Essence polishes. Nothing too glamorous, as my high-end embargo expires at the end of the month. I did get a Shiseido Perfect Rouge as a gift though 🙂
Weekend plans: Work. Barhopping on Saturday night for my best friend’s birthday. Watch football with the boy on Sunday.
Favorite part about autumn?: Almost everything except the rain – it’s my favorite time of year. Boots, scarves, (faux) leather jackets, opaque tights; sitting outside in cafes and feeling the first chill; the trees turning red and yellow; birthdays and shopping for presents (it’s like Christmas before Christmas in my house, as me, my sister, and a few very close friends have birthdays in late September and October).

Yes, love it – but I meant to say soccer or European-style football. I generally love watching sports, especially soccer and tennis 🙂

Nailed it. I see a lot of feedback written up on-line regarding clothing being too thin. It gets perceived by some as cheap. Personally, I’m lOOking for fine finishes like this to layer. I rarely wear one top, even in summer.

Haul: Nothing; I’ve decided I really don’t *need* anything, although I’m still contemplating the UD Vice palette (I have both Nakeds, 15th Anniversary, BoS IV, several Deluxe singles, and some others, so it seems unnecessary).
Plans: I’m almost done reorganizing clothes, so I should start to go through my makeup and get a new “system” started.
Autumn: The temps (usually) begin to drop (I live in L.A.), although the heat came quite a bit late this year, so I think we’re in for a looooong Summer…
I’m working on my new system and it’s okay, but I’m dying to rip a wall out of my walk-in closet and set up a full enchilada makeup ZONE with vanity, mirrors, chair, storage… That’s my dream, but it will have to wait.
I actually have more space than I’ve ever had, so I don’t have to “rotate” constantly. I’m trying to figure out what makes the most sense, since I don’t have to keep everything in bags & boxes.
That is excellent. I’m certain you will come up with something perfect for yourself! The bags and boxes routine definitely leads to things completely forgotten and unused. My bathroom is mine alone and H can pick and choose from the rest in the house. I’ve gravitated over to clear plastic bins which I stack in order of type of product I put on my face. I have 7 bins:
a. skincare and treatments
b. foundations, highlighters, powders
concealers, brow powders
c. cream eyeshadows, loose pigments, eyeliners
d. eyeshadows, eyeshadow palettes
e. blushes, bronzers
f. lipsticks and glosses, mascara
g. nail treatments, tools, and polishes
Once I am done, I restack. The remainder of things which are used on occassion are stored in my cupboards. But the cupboards are mostly occupied by hair products, mouthwash, soaps, hair appliances, moisturizers, jewellery..etc..etc.. My bathroom is definitely not made for a product junkie like me. At some point, I need NEED a separate space completely out of the bathroom to do my makeup. Sorry for all the boring details. By typing this, I am always hoping for more inspiration and thoughts on what I can be doing better. I know..more freaking SPACE!

Haul: My Birchbox and my Glossybox arrived while I was out of town, so I got to open those yesterday. Some nice goodies in the Glossybox, but I was less than thrilled by the Birchbox.

What’d you like in Glossybox?
This month surprisingly everything – I had a shampoo and conditioner sample set, generous sizes, and the research I was able to do showed they’re sulfate-free which means I can use them. Koh Gen Do spa cleansing water, which I’ve wanted to try for a while, and a lipstick in a nice neutral pink I’ll probably wear a few times. The only bummer was the MIssha Perfect Cover BB cream – I love the product, but they gave me a shade I can’t wear. But the other four make up for it 🙂

I hate summer too… I was built for colder weather. lol
I can take or leave summer, myself. I think it’s because the area I live in tends to be very rainy, so our summers are hot AND muggy. When I was in the Southwest, I felt more comfortable in the intense heat simply because it wasn’t so humid. And as for hair? Forget it. If you’ve got any curl, it’s a goner.

Weekend Plans: Facing an impending legal suit with a company whose product, professionally applied, completely messed up the wooden exterior of my house. I have to wade through everything to get a definitive timeline to pass to the lawyer. Health is particularly bad, but this happens each year as the cold weather comes in. It’s excruciating. My face and neck went into rash central, but it’s fading and I got foundation on top today and it looks pretty good!:) Apparently, I need yet another coating of teflon.
Favourite part about autumn: EVERYthing with respect to beauty and fashion. I love the colours, the layering of clothes, getting out my boots, my beloved leather jacket and sweaters, all the cozy things!

Weekend Plans: catching up on sleeping and eating! I stayed up all Wednesday night to make sure I got my Marilyn stuffs! While I was waiting I thought I was pretty sad for doing it LOL but I had a chance for a couple of naps during the day so it wasn’t really that hard. I had a jigsaw puzzle-fest on shockwave while refreshing.
Favourite part about autumn: ummm, not dying of the heat & humidity anymore! 😀 and my pollen allergies dying down(I hate ragweed so much)

Haul: No makeup, only more perfume. (I had bought a Milani 3D lipgloss & a grey glitter eyeshadow but returned both.) I got Roberto Cavalli “Eau de Parfum for Her;” Dolce & Gabbana’s “The One;” and Givenchy’s “Amarige.” I’ve bought 5 perfumes in large sizes & EDP in 10 days, so I better cool my perfume passion for a little while.
Weekend plans: My father is having a movie marathon for the family Sat. or Sunday to show off his new baby, a monster-sized LED TV with 3D and about 800 diff. speakers. It will probably be The Avengers for my nephew, along with something in 3D. And I may have to find a computer repair guy as I think my laptop is slowly dying. To counter that, there is the joy of Homeland’s return. Oh, Revenge & The Good Wife too! (Have I mentioned I’m a TV junkie? lol. Thank God for DVRs.)
Favorite part about autumn?: Cold weather — which means that it will only be about 60 degrees here. *eye roll* Also, grey & dark makeup, and boots.
What is your favourite from your perfume haul? I know that is difficult to quantify with such different scents. I did receive my TF Café Rose which starts out beautifully and hauntingly and then fades into nothing on me. Disappointment..so glad I didn’t buy full size. I think if I want something rose scented, I will just pile on one of my Joues Contraste! My whole blush container smells of roses as a result.. Love it!
I also received TF Lys Fume which I had heavy and sultry undertones from a very floral top note. Interesting! It put me in mind of TF Violet Blonde which is another floral I can wear successfully. TF niche scents are pretty much total hit or miss with me. Still waiting for my haul from Europe.
My favorite, hands down, is the Roberto Cavalli. It’s a spicy floriental with African Orange Blossom, pink pepper, tonka beans and, imo, peach and honeysuckle as well. Then perhaps either the Dior Pure Poison or the Amarige. I’m contemplating returning the Dolce & Gabbana as it does not smell the way it did in the stores. But we’ll see.
TF’s Lys Fume is actually one I’m interested in, though it’s low on my list. I have his Neroli Portofino and, while I love neroli (technically diff. than orange blossom), there’s something about it that I find a bit off-putting. As for some of the niche fragrances, my concern is the longevity issue. I think my body chemistry must have drastically changed over the last 10 years because I seem to eat up scents. Before, things really lasted on me. A lot of these niche scents seem to have minimal sillage and/or longevity, so I hesitate to spend a lot (esp. if buying blind) on something that may last 1 hr tops on me.
I have exactly the same issue 🙁 So, as Christine so succinctly put it..it’s an expensive hobby. For us, even more so.
I’ve been meaning to try the Cavalli. I have samples of TF Neroli Portofino and it does’t work on me. I think that one I had to run to the bathroom and immediately wash off. It made me feel nauseous. I’ve wanted to try the Cavalli, glad you are enjoying it. I’m get my grabby hands on some at some point.
The perfume term for what you went through would be “Scrubber.” And I can definitely see it. The first time I put on the TF Neroli Portofino, I actually felt my throat close up a bit. I have a really acute nose for scents (I’ve been repeatedly told that I’d put a pregnant woman to shame) but something in that one was just too, too much for me and made me feel queasy. I’ve gotten a bit more used to it but I may just give it back to my mother. Since I really do like neroli, as well as orange blossom scents, I’ve got Annick Goutal’s Neroli on my list but I fear it’s discontinued. Oh, and at the top of the niche ones: Serge Lutens’ Fleurs D’orangier! Spicy orange blossoms…. mmmm.
Are you generally a rose person for scents? What category of scents do you prefer for the most part? For all that I enjoy pure florals (as opposed to the florientals that I seem to gravitate to quite heavily), I don’t do predominant or purely rose scents, so your TF one would be a total pass for me. (Plus, it didn’t get super great reviews at Fragratica which you should really check out. Amazing resource!)
This is the floral I want: Annick Goutal’s “Grand Amour” which has hyacinth (love hyacinth!), Indian Mimosa, French Jasmine, Turkish rose, leather (!), myrrh, amber, Lily, and honeysuckle. She had it done as a love poem/love letter to her beloved husband. Isn’t that sweet?!
And then, the Hermès one, the Elixir, is a woody, balmy, orangy scent with: peru balsam, orange peel, oak, caramel, incense, siam resin, vanilla sugar, amber, sandalwood, tonka bean, patchouli, siam resin, and cedar. It’s seems to be unisex, I believe. Pretty cool, huh? I’ve also got my eye on Bvlgari’s Jasmin Noir, Guerlain’s Mahora & a bottle of YSL’s Yvresse to replace my now almost-finished bottle of Champagne (the old name).

hell no you don’t! LOL at the term ‘scrubber’.. H and I are both extremely scent sensitive and the vast majority of mainline perfumes are scrubbers on me.
No, I’m not a rose person. Lately, I’ve been looking for a rose based scent because it reminds me of my grandmother. I lived with my grandparents when I was quite young..have very fond memories. Roses will always remind me of her; a classy, warm, wonderful woman. I typically do not gravitate to florals either. It’s just my latest craze to prove I can wear them. I’m more citrusy/woody/powdery/earthy/patchouli. Chanel Mademoiselle Coco, Gucci Rush, YSL Ysatis, oh and Red by Giorgio Beverly Hills (an oldy, but a goody)
The particular floral that suits me very well is jasmin.
Want both the Annick Goutal and the Hermès.. they sound positively divine and both contain notes I gravitate towards. I’m going to sign-up to join Fragrantica 🙂

Even more so when: A) it’s a slight obsession and addiction; B) when you can’t seem to force yourself to buy small decants; and C) all your normal spending rules fly out the window when it comes to perfume. *gulp* That said, I may have to get decants for the Serge Lutens because it’s far, far too expensive to buy a whole bottle blind & untested given the sometimes questionable sillage, but I have enough other scents I want to get before that to make my wallet whimper and bleed. This evening, I just barely (BARELY!) restrained myself from ordering Annick Goutal’s Grand Amour & Hermès’ Elixir de Merveilles. But they’re calling to me, dammit, and I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to hold out. LOL.
Haul: Nothing for myself but I bought all the Great Lash limited edition color mascaras for my mom. She has an obsession with colored mascaras!
Weekend plans: Work and a concert.
Favorite part about autumn: Just one? Well then I’d have to say the smells. I love the scent of fallen leaves and anything pumpkin. This time of year is when I stock up on Yankee Candles (my faves are Autumn Leaves, Autumn Wreath, Harvest, and Spiced Pumpkin) and Fig & Brown Sugar scented goodies from Bath & Body Works.

@MAC: Two MAC Volcanic Exfoliators and an MSF in Earthshine (that I’ve had on hold for 15 years), Black Black Pigment, Blacktrack Fluidline (trying again to like this stuff), Studio Moisture Fix, Shag lipstick, Peaches blush, Chromagraphic Pencils in Marine Ultra and Landscape Green, the MAC Spatula and a 228 brush.
@Sephora: The Cinderella compact and the Tarte Carried Away palette (photos are taken, I can now play!)
@Nigel’s: Ben Nye Essential Eyeshadow Palette, some old age stipple, fake blood in various colors and textures, tooth colors, bald caps, one of the Ben Nye Bruise Wheels, stipple sponges and other tools, empty 5-well palettes and some fake teeth 😛

Favorite part about autumn?: Ugh… really?! Watching scary movies around Halloween? The rest of the time I’m pretty much angry. LOL

Says its out for delivery! I swear, while I LOVE my UPS man, whenever I actually am WAITING for something, he’ll show up at 5-7PM. When I don’t even know something’s coming, it’ll be 11AM!

Yes, I did. I haven’t used White Frost for over a year. Same with the Gentle Fume Quad, which I love for fall.

Which OCC Lip Tars are you trying to decide between, Miss J? Which ones are really calling out your name? I’m doing the same thing and my list includes: Hush, Memento, Divine, Demure & Pretty Boy. I think I’ll go with Memento & Demure first.
I’m debating between NSFW, Stalker, and Vintage for a red pick. I’ve also been eyeing Demure, and I’m pretty sure I’m sold on it. Divine is definitely a me color, but I’m not likely to wear it much during fall/winter, so I think I might wait on it. I want to get one out of Hoochie, Belladonna, or RX for mixing. I’m thinking about getting the white, too, for mixing. Too many choices!!
OCC tars are pretty cool for mixing! You can always buy one pre-mixed colour and then grab black or white or both and create your own shades from one single pre-mix tube. Yeah, and it’s still impossible to decide! 🙂 OMG Starbucks Pumpkin spice…yum!!!
I am SO close to just getting NSFW, RX, Traffic, Feathered, and Tarred to mix whatever shade I want, LOL.
Haul- Did some damage this week… Revlon color stay quad in addictive and decadent, Revlon nail polish in Radiant… NARS Sin blush, Casino bronzer (although I may exchange for Laguna)and Vent Glace eyeshadow duo, MAC Fix+, and 2 pressed pigments in Light Touch and Day Gleam… Not to mention clothing shopping :-/
Weekend Plans- Jay Z concert tomorrow night and a Baptism on Sunday, squeezing in cleaning and lesson planning as well.
