I try to keep my retail therapy constrained to buying him stuff, rather than me, LOL! But he doesn’t destroy toys really, so they last awhile!

Haul: I’m waiting to receive a couple of BB creams from Korea (my first foray into Asian BB creams) and a Real Techniques brush. I also bought two Beauty Blenders and (surprisingly enough) I love them!
Weekend plans: I’m going to try out a couple of cupcake recipes. My friend’s baby shower is next weekend and I’m baking her cake and cupcakes.
Favorite bad-for-you food?: Thin Mints, cajun chicken pasta, and Baked Lays.

Weekend plans: Look at wedding venues! We’ve been procrastinating on it forever, but we finally hired a wedding planner so things are moving forward.
Food: I subscribe to the philosophy that everything is okay in moderation 🙂 But I have a hard time keeping my diet soda consumption to a “moderation” type level (it’s all I drink, pretty much).
Soda was the easiest thing to give up, but luckily, the bubbles tickle my nose, lol!
Soooo cute! I want a hedgehog toy! Mellan has a lot of nice toys in his toy chest. I will confess that I am a bit jealous 😉

Favorite Bad for you Food: This is a dangerous question! I have a feeling the answers to this are not going to be good for my health LOL. For me it’s French pastries that are made with like a thousand pounds of butter. What’s worse is that they taste so light instead of heavy so I “feel” like I haven’t indulged as much as I have when I eat them and therefore feel like I can eat more of them.
I’m not sure if this is allowed, but can anyone here recommend a sheer, bright red lipstick (or maybe balm)? This fall I’m totally feeling the lots of black mascara and sheer red lip look. I’ve just been wearing my Dr. Pepper Lipsmacker lately, but I’d like something slightly more pigmented.
I checked the swatch gallery and I did find MAC Cockney and UD Gravity which may be contenders. Still, there must be others out there so I’m open to suggestions.
Cockney is what I’d have recommended… maybe Ladybug.
Maybe Tarte Lipsurgenge in Fiery? Or, if you have a red already that you *really* like, you can slick on a thick layer of balm (or gloss), and with a brush, lightly apply the red lipstick.
I do have and like Russian Red, but it’s sorta a pain to put on on rushed work mornings since I have to be so, so careful about application. And there have been a few times I’ve messed it up and had red lipstick outside my lip line. RR stains pretty much the moment it touches my skin. I’m hoping a sheer red lippie will be easier to put on when I’m walking out the door.
However I’m going to look in to Fiery! Thanks for your suggestion. 😀
Have you tried the Revlon Lip Butters for a more sheer red? My favorite is the Candy Apple (I think that’s the name), which is a warm red. I’ll definitely look through my stash for others, but that one is my go to for a pop of red that is sheer, but still distinctly a red lip.
So Candy Apple is a sheer color? I have Strawberry Shortcake and it’s actually close to opaque on me, that’s why I never thought to look at the red Lipbutter shades. But now I will probably pick one up eventually. Thanks for your suggestion! 🙂
Candy Apple can be opaque or sheered out to a tint, which is why I love it. If I keep layering, boom, opaque, but if I dab on or do a light swipe then it’s more of a hint of warm red, not so opaque. 🙂 It’s a quick, easy red for me. I’m about NC20 in MAC for reference.
Did you check out Revlon Lip Butters? They have a few reds: Candy Apple, Cherry Tart, Red Velvet, Crimson.
I haven’t yet looked at the red Lipbutter shades, but I think I’ll take a look at them now. Thank you for your suggestion!

Mellan is super cute. I have had in the past a hedgehog that looked like that, or it may be the same one. I picked it up at PetsMart (which is having a sale) a couple years ago. My Black Lab mix destroyed it in about 2 days. LOL! No bueno!!

■Weekend plans: Crush pop cans for recycling, replace the plugin fragrances all over the house, spend time with my bestie and perhaps go to the casino AND as per usual, SLEEP!
■Favorite bad-for-you food?: Pop, fried chicken, onion rings and anything Asian/Chinese that is greasy and deep fried … Like an egg roll or sweet and sour chicken without the sweet and sour (sweet or sour meat is just wrong IMO). Really I could go on but I’d take up this entire webpage. I’d say my weakness I have to reallllly work on and be aware of is pop and fried foods.
My favorite Chinese dish is either mushu chicken, spicy dumplings with peanut sauce, or fried rice… can I have all three?

I have never had Kraft mac ‘n’ cheese made with anything but whatever was in the box. Interesting!

Haul: Nothing, yet again (I’m trying so hard to be good…).
Plans: Baking cupcakes; the temps have been a bit more tolerable this week, so I’m going to take advantage of it before they spike back up. We had a nice, mild Summer in the beginning of the season, so we’re likely to have a longer stretch of heat.
Bad food: All of them; I really, really try to eat healthier foods, though. “Bad” food just tastes better! As someone else stated, moderation is key.
Bad foods taste better and are cheaper. Go figure!
– Haul: Boots Botanics cleansers, nail polish remover, and a new moisturiser.
– Plans: Hopefully taking Martin’s dogs to the beach if the weather’s nice. The youngest one is so confused by the ocean and I need to watch this. And actually doing… anything productive. Job applications, masters course applications, anything!
– Favourite Bad-For-You Food: Um. Everything… >_> Haha, probably share bags of chocolate – especially Magic Stars. I can move the bag like half an hour later and just find air.

Hello Mellan! My dogs love your hedgehog! My gang have a squirrel that makes 4 or 5 different ‘squirrel’ noises when you squish its body. I don’t have the heart to actually give it to the dogs because it will be destroyed in a matter of seconds. If you saw my gang with chipmunks, mice, red squirrels, and baby turkeys..Oi! They are definitely farm dogs! Anyhow, I run around the house squishing the fake squirrel and the dogs go apesh*t 🙂
Haul: Long story about my Illamasqua Raindrops which I spent a small fortune obtaining on eBay. Suffice it to say, it’s also dead!!! My puppy Bernice jumped my studio barrier and got into my big box of nail enamels and she just so happened to choose the Raindrops box!!! What are the odds?? She chewed up the box and chewed off the plastic top *cry* I managed to save a bit in another bottle. Luckily? I found another bottle up for auction this week from the same seller and I got this one cheaper! Small victory.. *sigh*
Weekend Plans: try to get some sleep
Favourite Bad Food: Anything super spicy and east Indian with creamy fat filled sauces. It is also easy to get vegetarian dishes and although I am no longer vegetarian, I rarely eat meat…’cept maybe bacon LoL and that would be favourite bad food #2.

I’m so sorry about Raindrops too….. do dogs understand which are the products we struggled the most to get and that we love?? It’s incredible Bernice CHOSE to chew off that one!! Glad you were able to replace Raindrops, yay!!
Awww thanks ladies! I almost had a heart attack and yes, I absolutely couldn’t believe it because the box is large and there were dozens for her to choose from. I can only guess it was the last one I touched and so she zeroed in on it. Bernice also sneaks and grabs things out of my bathroom in the garbage can like facial wipes, makeup remover pads, etc.. I caught her yesterday with one of Harald’s socks. She’s almost 6 months old and going through that stage. I’m so fortunate another Raindrops was on eBay.. In fact there were 2, but the first went for almost $100 and I couldn’t justify participating at that level. The second, which I picked up, went for $55.. still pretty steep, but not over the top fortunately!

You poor thing! I know how much you wanted that Raindrops and how much you loved it. I’m glad you could get another one. As for Bernice’s choice of chew toys, the honing/tracking ability is pure GSD. (I blame the naughtiness on the Bernese Mountain Dog side. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it. ;P lol)

The pawing thing sounds German too! All of mine have always done that, whereas the other breeds I’ve had (all 15 other types, lol) never did. (Well, except for a Shih Tzu but he was just plain starkers in general.) BTW, you may find that Bernice just gets more…. er… expressive, intense and opinionated about things as she gets older. The personality of Hairy Germans seem to intensify and magnify with time. I think they’re just too smart for their own good. And, usually, for yours too! 😉

Haul: Revlon No Shrinking Violet and LA Colors Eyeshadow Trio in Iris. I also got an American Painter brush with a fine tip. I plan on using it for eyeliner app.
Weekend plans: A friend is coming in from out of town, and we’re hanging out for a few hours. I am taking a break from the never ending sociology reading I have to do. On Sunday I’m doing the makeup for a friend’s photo shoot.
Fave bad-for-you food?: I love so many things! It’s kind of a curse that I am a great cook/baker, because I can make many sinfully delicious things. I guess the worst bad food I like would be Checkers fries, french fries in general, salsa con queso on tortilla chips (warmed up), and Little Debbie snack cakes.

I love the hedgehog! The Now-Quasi-Hairy German has a long, stuffed mallard that he loves to take around with him and just hold in his mouth like a pacifier. But when he’s happy, he shakes it madly just like Mellan in this video!

Weekend Plans: Spend time researching & narrowing down the Serge Lutens decants I want to try, based on Fragrantica and other sites’ reviews/notes. (I’ll be trying out The Perfumed Court that you often suggest!) Maybe try out a new Thai place that opened near me.
Favorite bad-for-you food: Pizza!! (It’s the bread junkie in me). Also, Popeye’s fried chicken, frozen cookie dough & cheeseburgers.
I did a weird thing on eBay this week and bought 1 ml samples of some perfumes from a woman’s own collection in Europe. There is a Serge Lutens in the mix, Bois Vanille, and a number of other niche perfumes I have wanted to try such as Hiver by M. Micallef, etc.. I hope they arrive safely! I am quite excited about this. What are some of your personal favourites? What categories do you prefer?
I don’t think that’s weird at all. I found some woman on eBay who apparently began that trend, is some sort of chemist by background, has listings that are as long as encyclopedias with the details of how she transfers things, and a massive, MASSIVE collection of niche perfume brands, including some not supposedly available in the US. She’s in the US, so probably not your woman.
I’m looking into getting a few from her in 5 ML sizes of diff. Serge Lutens scents, though 5 ML seems awfully small. Then again, I keep reading on Fragrantica.com that a lot of the Lutens scents are very weak and have poor sillage, so maybe 5 ML is best after all. The ones I want to try are the famous Orangier one, his Datura Noir, maybe Chengui and possibly the Tubereuse Criminelle. I’m also looking into a few of the more niche Guerlain scents.
But my main plan in the upcoming weeks is to buy proper bottles of Roberto Cavalli’s new Eau de Parfum (that’s the whole name- lol), Michael Kors by Michael Kors in EDP, and Dolce & Gabbana’s The One (EDP). Maybe Amarige by Givenchy too. As you can see, I’ve returned to my perfume passion with gusto. LOL. Are you going to get some decants of the Tom Ford ones you were interested in trying? And have you looked at The Perfume Court that Christine often recommends?
I will have to look for the US woman! I love this trend 🙂 I have commitment issues.. 5 ML seems perfect for me unless I end up completely in love. I’m difficult with perfumes because a lot just genuinely overpower me and give me a headache. Harald is the same..we are both very scent sensitive.
I generally can wear anything Guerlain too 🙂
I still do not have my TF decants from the US. They typically take at least 2 to 3 weeks to get here via regular post. I really would love a gorgeous glamorous darker rose scent as I’m getting nostalgia in my older age and it reminds me of my grandmother: one of the sweetest most genuine woman I have ever known. She loved roses and always smelled of them.
No, I haven’t visited the perfume court..will def check that out.!!!

3. Real Techniques brushes. Ulta has an insane buy one, get one 50% off sale on them. Fiance looked at me like I was crazy when I came home from my binge.

Haul: My iPhone 5 arrived yesterday (1st new phone in just over six years), Essie nail polish in Don’t Sweater It, Merino Cool & Miss Fancy Pants, a backup MAC Coffee Walnut Pro Sculpting Cream.
Weekend plans: Welcoming autumn, and hatching an elaborate recon mission to steal Mellan (just kidding of course), family Sunday dinner, trying out fall makeup looks.
Favorite bad-for-you food?: Pizza and french fries together…soooo bad but that’s my favorite meal

Haul: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick, Darling, Crush, Smitten, and Precious (I’m a little obsessed). Sinful Colors nail polish in Mint Apple and a sheer glittery pink. Going to try to find the limited edition color tattoos tomorrow- nowhere around me seems to have them! Also got a replacement Skin79 vip super gold plus bb cream.
Weekend plans: Work and a party today, errands and dying my hair tomorrow.

Weekend: Absolutely nothing. No plans, projects, work, or anything. My boyfriend and I can't wait!!! May throw in a little iPhone 5 research…should I trade in my "ancient" (bf's word) but perfectly fine 3GS? Yes or no?? Hmmm….
Fav Food: Stuffed crust pep/mushroom/jalapeno pizza w/extra cheese, dipped in ranch dressing. So bad, but soooooooo good!!! Of course, my plans next week have to include working all those calories off. 😛

Christine will you be reviewing the Haus of Gloi products you mentioned here? Are they the Halloween scents? I’d love to hear your reviews! I’m a huge fan of Gloi. Though recently their customer service was very,horribly slow and I all most decided against ordering. I had problems with their website for some reason I could’nt order.
I have no plans to review at this time! I am sorry to hear about your experience with their CS – I did receive my last order in normal speed/time (in case that restores any faith).
