It will be interesting to see what she comes out with, I have a few of her make up products and they’re all really good.
If it would make my skin look like hers, I’d be in. I don’t have great luck with Fenty, esp base products.
It irks me when celebrities and gurus come up with skincare lines, I don’t mind them releasing makeup and fragrances though..
It’s quite interesting what perceptions we have on celebrities and ‘gurus’. Yes, they talk a lot about make-up, but this doesn’t mean they don’t love skincare or wellness; or cooking, given the number of make-up YouTube creators sponsored by Hello Fresh or other meal services. 😆
Tati was a make-up reviewer, but came out with vitamins at first. Patrick Star decided to do make-up removers at first (and the skincare dreaded wipes). Rihanna adding skincare to make-up seems not that odd. I wonder what House Laboratories and Lady Gaga will do next.
Call me very intrigued by this. Since I absolutely love how her Profilt’r Hydrating Longwear foundation looks on my skin, I’m curious to see how this new line goes.
I wish either of her foundations worked on my pale skin as both lines have my shade! But the Matte one looks way to chalky and it seems to be an issue with their pale shades in general look way different on the skin compared to the rest of the shades in terms of foundation texture. The Profilt’r Hydrating Longwear foundation on the other hand turns to a powder on my skin… Litteral powder and fluffs off. >_<
That said I've been on the hunt for a SPF to work under my makeup and the Skin Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen (God damn these names! it like my Marcelle makeup remover. 😛 ) sounds perfect!
Kind of interested to see the ingredient list and the types of products. The make-up line is just not my aesthetics and preferences, but I did like the eye liner. Given her primer, foundation and concealer have fragrance and/or alcohol, and Rihanna gives me the vibes of someone liking fragranced products, I will skip the products just on that.
I do hope they reached the proper skincare reviewers and sent them PR weeks in advance, so people really get to test them and be critical (in a constructive way). I do feel Fenty is overhyped and make-up reviewers have been notoriously less critical with the brand just because… Rihanna. Not that the products are bad, but everybody raves about them at launch, but you rarely see them months after used or as favorites.
I was concerned about the fragrance when I read the moisturizer smells like melon. You don’t get that without fragrance so it will be a pass for me on that. The rest I’ll wait to see the ingredients. I don’t care who makes it if the ingredients aren’t something that will improve or maintain skin.
When it comes to skincare, I’m not really into paying for something just because it has a famous name on it. Hopefully it is good skincare for those that decide to buy.
Not excited about this. I have my routine and can’t really see a a celebrity makeup line-introducing-skincare-line complimenting my staples. But every time I say something like that, I end up a convert. I’ll see what is being offered. I love the Fenty eye primer and bronzers that I’ve bought so far.
I’m definitely interested. She really revolutionized the beauty industry when she released such a fantastic range of foundation. I hope she does the same for skincare.
I’m disappointed that she says she wants to make her products “clean” but then puts fragrance in all of them?
Bingo! Why do they think we need fragrance in skin care products especially knowing how bad it is for the skin
I didn’t think I would be interested, but I would be interested in giving Fenty Skin a shot if it reviews well! I tend to prefer East Asian brands because I assume they are tested on a wide consumer base with more similar skin to my own. But here, she’s hit a lot of key points I’m looking for in skin care products – vegan, reef-safe, ingredients-focused (e.g. hyaluronic acid), and with eco-conscious packaging (though I prefer glass and metal because they’re easier to recycle). Rihanna is so savvy when she launches her businesses and how she grows her holdings!
I am VERY interested. The cleanser sounds really good (speaking as someone who does double cleanse from time to time but who hates feeling like she should double cleanse). And while I have doubts about the “one size fits all” moisturizer, I am glad it has SPF (and that the brand is emphasizing the importance of it) and I’m willing to give it a try.
kjh raises an interesting issue – I have the feeling that Rhianna probably uses products priced in the stratosphere as well as specialist treatments, etc. etc. It’s like Jennifer Aniston as the pitch-woman for Aveeno. Yeah, I’m sure that’s all she ever uses, right? Ditto other celebs pitching L’Oreal, etc.
That’s an interesting idea. At least for Fenty Beauty, she did make a point that she had been testing Fenty Beauty products on herself long before the official promotions — she would go back for the initial releases and show prior papparazzi photos of her wearing product. I don’t doubt that Charlotte Cho (“Then I Met You” founder) uses the skin care products she formulates. I guess you can count me an optimist, but I believe that Rihanna would use the products she sells, and thankfully she doesn’t affirmatively say that these are the only products that she personally uses.
The market saturation is just insane.
Now that this has been updated with more details about the products (and I was reading an article about it from Harper’s Bazaar earlier this morning), I have to say I’m here for it and willing to give it a chance. I know a lot of people will likely take issue with the fragrance, but I’m fine with it. I’m not sure that I believe the “works for all” claim, but the sheer volume of skincare products out there and all the things they claim to do can be really overwhelming so I like that she tried to take a more streamlined approach, but pack as much punch as she could into those three products as possible. As someone approaching the fine lines stage I would still likely need to supplement these three with an additional couple of products, but if I was back in my 20s these three products would have likely done it for me and I would have been content.
The fact that every product listed above has fragrance in it makes it pretty unlikely that I’ll use any of them.
It’s very strange how many people in America can not tolerate fragrance in skin products. And perfumes. (And gluten, and nuts, and pollen, etc). I very rarely hear this in Asia. Is it a weak immune system? 90% of the pleasure is in the scent and texture. Niacinamide is niacinamide is niacinamide. On their own they are like stuff hospitals provide before surgery, blech.

Fragrance can be sensitizing if your skin barrier is weak or broken. Sometimes it just gives you a headache. It’s nice just to have the option not to have scents in a product. I like what Purito does, offer a scented and unscented version.
The problem is there is A LOT of synthetic fragrances added to products in North America and they are undisclosed which makes it very hard to find the culprit when you skin has a reaction. So cutting out an unlisted ingredient makes it easier to track. Some scents has skin benefits as well and the Mellon they are using also has added benefits so I’m willing to give it a shot because we know what has been added, 😉
I do have sensitive skin but also some scents they add might not affect my skin but are too strong that it makes me want to gag as well. lol Korean skincare I’ve tried is well balanced on the other had for scents and are usually not to artificial either so I’ve been fine with their market brands by comparison.
I wonder if the “undisclosed” is the problem. Because the word “fragrance” is so opaque and could mean hundreds of different things, people have to be on the lookout regardless if whatever’s in that particular product is irritating to them or not. If companies actually listed whatever that ingredient was (like, rather than “spices” on a food description, saying “garlic”) we’d be better informed and more likely to say, “oh I’m allergic to garlic but pepper is okay!”
There are so many skin types and no one product is going to be perfect for everyone. I wish brands would stop making claims like that. It doesn’t deter me from wanting to try these, but does make me roll my eyes a little. There is nothing wrong with having products that are suited to be best for your particular needs/issues!
However, I’m interested in the toner/serum and lotion. The pink tint to the lotion/sunscreen sounds interesting. I haven’t heard of any others on the market like that. I’m about to run out of my morning lotion so I’m in the market for something light and hydrating with sun protection. I do like that you can get a refill… even if for a minimal discount. I’m not sure how my skin will react to the fragrance as it is very sensitive, but not every fragrance bothers my skin so it is worth a try!
The face cleanser is a no go for me. My face reacts very badly to products with coconut ingredients. If the other two also have coconut ingredients they will sadly be a pass.
Pink tinted facial creams are actually not a new concept, you will often hear them referred to as Rosy Tone creams. Brands like IT, Lancome, Givenchy and even Loreal make them already. If the concept appeals to you, but you don’t like the ingredients in the Fenty version you could always investigate some of the other brands out there.
Interesting, I’ve personally never heard the term Rosy Tone cream. I’m not sure if it is something I actually *need* – but good to know that there are other options out there!
I continue to not understand the hype behind this brand. There isn’t anything in this launch that seems particularly interesting to me, and as always with Fenty, it seems geared towards oily skin types. There is nothing revolutionary sounding here, and nothing that sounds like it would be better than what I already use. I hate that every product talks about the scent, which worries me there will be fragrance.
It’s already confirmed that all 3 products are scented. I personally can’t be excited about skincare products without seeing the ingredient list, just because it’s Rihanna’s brand. I also agree that the products themselves don’t seem very revolutionary or different from everything already existing on the market. Hopefully it’s good skincare and whoever buys it will be happy with it.
I’m totally intrigued by the sunscreen. This is something I constantly struggle with. I have yet to find one that isn’t greasy or gives my face a white cast, while still working under makeup. I have high hopes for this One.
I’m in. Skincare has become so overwhelming to me lately, if she can give me minimal steps and elegant formulas, with bonus pretty lavender bottles, I’m in. It may not be perfect, but it’s what i need in this moment.
