No – I don’t spend a lot of time on it as it is only chin length and I have naturally wavy/curled hair, so it’s pretty easy to work with. My hair is pretty much always done, whether I have makeup on or not.

My hairstyle influences my makeup 100%. If my hair is slicked back in a pony/bun, I will chisel the hell out of my face to avoid looking like an egg!! If my hair is blown out and very shiny and perfect, I will do a more perfected look with crisp liner and strive for my base to be that matte flawless finish. If my hair is beachy, I will diffuse almost everything and have a glossy lip!

Katherine T. Avatar

Not really. Since time is limited in the mornings, I usually wear the same hairstyle every day, and focus on changing my makeup looks and clothes.

Lulle Avatar

No, I’ll usually do my makeup first and then decide how to wear my hair – sometimes certain makeup looks look better when I have my hair up and away from my face, other times I feel like wearing my hear down with its natural waves pairs with the look best!

Lauren Avatar

Absolutely. When my hair is bleached I wear way more makeup because I’m very pale and I have to accentuate something–eyes or lips and flawless skin. When I’m light brown and natural, I tend to tone it down a whole lot.

Wednesday Avatar

Yes, I do. My hair is short which is surprisingly versatile and at this point it is longer than in my avatar photo in a chin length layered bob. I can wear my hair swept forward circa 20’s flapper bob or behind my ears and smoothed down into a vidal sassoonish geometric. If I go the Sassoonish route, I usually do a subtle cat eye liner and demi fake lashes. Because the ends are textured, I can also flip the ends out a touch for a textured look (lisa rinna is an example) and for this hair look I usually go with a darker smokier eye and paleish lips.

I hardly ever tie my hair back and always let it loose (goes great with any make up look for night and day!) But I guess because there is volume, so I tone down the make up a bit… I’ve recently switched from a silicone based shampoo to a 100% natural range and its done wonders for my look 😀

I’m pretty lady with my hair too! I hate that I had to chop it for a surgery. It’s a little bit shorter than shoulder length atm. Pretty much lives in a pony tail . Has to be styled to look decent . I will be a 70 year I’m lady with long hair just so I can spend an hour on my makeup and toss my hair into braids or a bun! I love curls and heat styles too. But, I don’t have the patience or skill for daily basis.

Hi Nancy, Cold?! It was gorgeous weather for me! Fri in Sedona was a little crazy windy though. But, everyone said that was very abnormal. Sat,was beautiful. I love AZ! I so want to relocate! I actually was able to spend time outside! With TN, in the winter in Ohio, that doesn’t happen. Being from Jersey, I’m sure you know what I mean. I can certainly see myself living there one day!
Anyway, the dr was helpful and not helpful. He was a neurosurgeon. I was hoping for a second opinion or a permanent fix /follow up on the surgery I had this past July. Shortly before I left my neurologist here sent me to a MS specialist. She has not said that I for sure have MS as she is still working on test results etc. So, that surgeon said since I likely have MS, the ATN/TN will not be able to be solved with surgery. I just need to get the MS figured out. He did find a reflex called Hoffman’s sign that no other doctor has. I’ve been having symptoms for over 3 years. So, I’m not happy with Oh. doctors at all. I certainly do not want to have MS. I watch my dad suffering with it. But, there are good medications these days. If I do have it, I want them to have me on them 3 years ago! Maybe, the right medications will help get the ATN/TN under control.
Thank you for thinking of me Nancy. So sorry if that is a lot and I know it’s way off topic!

Nicole, thanks for the update. I’ve been thinking about you too. Sorry to hear no definitive solutions yet, but I keep hoping for you. Hang in there girl. Glad you were able to have some fun in AZ

Nicole Avatar

Thank you Katherine! I know you were and I was thinking about you too and everyone else too while I was traveling. I think about you girls all the the the time. The doctor I saw was a neurosurgeon. He did make some referrals to other areas at Mayo there. So, I still have other avenues to explore and a few other doctors to see.

LOL, yeah my blood got too thin out here, I guess! Or at least what the old-timers keep saying! Very true about our Northeastern winters being unbearably cold especially if one has something like TN, or what I have, PN and Raynaud’s, too. Out here, my PN hasn’t been as painful, but my feet and fingertips get numb, Idk? But I am so glad that you and Chloe had a good time out here! Sedona is so other-worldly or something. Me and my kids went up there a couple of times. Someday, Oak Creek Slide Rock and Flagstaff, oh yeah! I truly hope it’s NOT MS, because that can get bad, although nowadays the treatments they have at their disposal are quite advanced and could put it into full remission. I suppose an answer, even a not pleasant one , is better than not knowing and having no effective treatment for it.
Sorry I didn’t answer you much earlier today, I was dealing with a family dilemma of epic proportions. I won’t put it on here, though.

Nicole Avatar

Nancy, are you speaking of Peripheral Neuropathy when you say PN? If so I have had PN since 2012 starting with foot drop in my left foot only. Gosh, it is awful! But, I have some pins & needles in my other arms and legs. But, it could be side effects from my medications. I feel awful for you having that and Raynaud’s! I’m sure the warmer weather is helpful. I will be leaving this cold asap. But, right now, I can’t until my daughter’s dad would agree or until she is older unfortunately. It’s a toss up on the MS thing I guess. Most MS manifest before 40. But, then again I could have been having vague symptoms. I’m praying it’s not MS. My dad is in a wheelchair at 63. It kills me to see him like that. But, like you said, the medications were not as advanced when he was diagnosed. My brain MRI was clear. The spinal MRI was not. But, the pictures were fuzzy. My symptoms are kinda , maybe ,sorta could go along with a form of MS that originates in the spine. So, next Tues., I’m having the MRI repeated in a more advanced MRI tube. After those results, I’ll figure the next step. I have a few ideas.
I hope your family ordeal is panning out okay.

Nancy T Avatar

Yes, Peripheral Neuropathy. Got Dxd with that, Raynaud’s and at first, Discoid Lupus when I was 37. Been almost 20 years. The warmer climate definitely helps the Raynaud’s, unless we get below 50°-ish. It’s as if , starting then, my immune system has turned on my own body in war-mode with several autoimmune diseases! Crazy! Wow, I feel for your situation. I had to go to court to move here with my two teenage kids. Otherwise it’s called something else. Definitely also understand about watching parent’s health go seriously downhill. It’s horrible and leaves us feeling powerless in the face of it.

Nicole Avatar

That’s a lot to handle Nancy and I’m glad you were able to win that court battle. I’m thinking one day in the next couple of years I may be doing the very same thing. I literally go days on end without going outside since I work from home, making way less that I would out of the home. I’ve tried tirelessly to find a permanent solution. The medications and side effects are just becoming intolerable and my body is becoming more and more used to them so they are less effective. It’s really tough. But, it is what it is. I’m still not ready to just settle for it. My daughter is only 10. I think she has to be 12 for the court to look at my case. So, I will keep trying. Sorry for the non-beauty related rant!

I tend to change the colour of the streaks I have in the front of my hair quite often. The only concession I make to the sometimes bright colours is to not pick eyeshadows that clash with, or compete with, my hair.

xamyx Avatar

My overall aesthetic-makeup, hair, clothes, etc…-is always cohesive, and if any one thing holds the most weight in terms of influence, it would be my clothing (and that is *heavily* dictated by the event/environment). I tend to go with “wash & go” hairstyles, and I just follow my gut when deciding. Since I have a very “deliberate” sense of style, my choices all tend to fall in line with each other. The only things that may differ in terms of makeup depends more on hair *color*; obviously, if my hair is auburn, black brows won’t work (and vice-versa), and I’m more willing to play with warmer eyes & lips.

Irene Avatar

Not at all. When I had long hair I’d only wear elaborate make up if I was curling it 50s style, but now that I have a short bob with bangs I stick to straight hair, and it looks good with anything.

Karen Avatar

Depends on my mood, actual color -which ranges from very highlighted brondish to almost black. qnd whether or not I’ve got enough spray tan. The under eye circles are usually what decides lol.

Cat Avatar

No, not the style. The color does, though, as I can get away with much darker, warmer colors now than I could when my hair was blonde. One of the reasons I’ve kept my hair red is because I’ve fallen in love with certain eyeshadows!

Alecto Avatar

Not at all. I wouldn’t think one would influence the other, more that both would spring from the same source. Although, I can see someone with long hair experimenting with updos and letting their experiments guide their look for a day.
