Do you use the same brow highlighter shade for all your looks?

Do you use the same brow highlighter shade for all your looks? Do you have a few you cycle through? Do you change it all the time?

I used to have a few I cycled through, and now I primarily use Burberry Trench, because it goes with everything! If I don’t use that, then I use what I’m testing or is included in a palette.

Yes, I use the same highlighter shade for all my looks. I found it to suit my complexion the most after experimenting across several brands, textures and colors. It blends well with my NC44 skin and gives a subtle highlight without being too shimmery or ‘disco’-ish.

I usually use MAC’s Ricepaper.. If not that, MAC’s Yogurt or Vanilla. Never really play around with other brands when it comes to highlighting. Maybe I should try!

Pretty much, though if I’m wearing cooler-toned shades I’ll go with a cooler-toned highlight, and just the opposite for warmer-toned shades. Sometimes I get crazy and just wear a lighter, brighter color that goes with all the other colors (even if it’s green or something).

I use to use MAC Vanilla eyeshadow everyday. Now I shake it up, but not by much honestly. I still use Vanilla sometimes or Cream from the LORAC Pro Palette, Chella Lace pencil or Venus in the UD Basics palette if I want something more shimmery.

Eva Avatar

I only use the one (Venus from Urban Decay’s Naked Basics palette) because despite looking, I haven’t found another one I like yet. The fact that where I live, next to no quality makeup is available in stores, and delivery charges for ordering over the internet are steep, when they deign to deliver at all, does not help. And I’d so like a nice champagne shade…

I have a few shades that I work through, but generally all of them are within the same range – off-white, beige, or bone-colored matte shades. I generally avoid shimmer or satin because they sometimes emphasize my brow bone rather than downplaying it – something that hooded eyes don’t need help with, LOL. 😛

I try to stick to one but it’s a bit difficult if you haven’t found your HG yet. :/ How long does it take you to finish a pan of Burberry Trench?

When I’m wearing eyeshadow I wear a matte ivory shade usually. If I’m going for a natural look and I don’t wear any make up then I use a cream slightly pearly highlighter or a dupe of the crayon brow highlighter from benefit.

Mariella Avatar

Nope. There are times when I want a more matte look, either because I’ve got sheen on the eye or just for a daytime situation so I’ll use MAC Orb or TF Heaven or Benefit High Brow (which I find to be amazing). Other times, I do want a bit of shimmer on the browbone, so out will come MAC Phloof or Stila Starlight (probably my favourite glowy highlighter).

I always use the same type-a matte whie/ivory shade. Through my depotting I’ve accumulated so many “highlight” shades that I refuse to buy any more until I use up what I have. After that my go-to will probably be Wet N Wild Brulee because it is the perfect shade for me to use as a highlight and a perfect dupe for mac brulee

Actually, I’ve been using pretty exclusively Chanel Poudre Signee de Chanel for the purpose! A light dab with 217 and the job is beautifully subtly done, plus I haven’t had any problems coordinating it with my eye looks.

I love using MAC Blanc Type. Now that I’m older, this is much more subtle. I’m using less and less shimmer as the years pile on……sigh!

lancome continuous creme 24hr eyeshadow. It’s brightening, goes with all my looks, and even though it’s matte it’s not dull or powdery looking.

I use a number of different brow highlight colours depending on the colour base of my eye look. I also change between matte and shimmer finish. I’m about NC20. Some of my favs:

Illamasqua Stealth – it’s a light creamy yellowish white matte shade from the neutral palette. I use this one a lot.. goes with everything.

Chanel Mystere palette – the highlight shadow also a yellow white, but with generous shimmer. This one is really gorgeous on my skin, applied sparingly. This is a recent addition and an instant fav which works really well with any olive/khaki neutrals.

Lorac Pro Palette: on the matte side – Cream, on the shimmer side – Nude or Champagne

MAC: Vex is tough to describe, but unique and interesting and Vapour and Malt are a fav beige pink neutrals.

Oy, there are more.. so I do use a fairly large range.

Brenda Avatar

nope. I use a different highlighter depending on the tones and hues in the look, my current skin’s shade and sometimes I just use my face powder or nothing at all!

Eileen Avatar

Because I prefer palettes to singles, I have a lot of different highlighter shades from which to choose depending on the look I want. My standard go-to highlighter, though, is Guerlain’s Precious Light Rejuvenating Illuminator in 01. It’s luminous without being shiny, sparkly, or glittery. In short, it’s perfect for everyday wear.

I’ve never really “got” browbone highlighters. The odd time I think to use one I use urban decay anonymous from he vice palette, but I don’t really think it enhances my looks :/

Lee Avatar

I have two I use regularly: MAC Femme Fi for warm looks and MAC Shroom for cool. I use other highlighters occasionally, especially if they’re in a palette or quad so it’s just more convenient but I don’t see a hug distinction on between any of them.

Jo Avatar

Usually MAC Shroom or Ploof for shimmer or MAC Laundry Daze from the Colour Added palette or the ivory shade from Guerlain’s Ecrin 6 Couleurs Place Vendome for something more subtle. Alternatively if I’m playing around with a palette, I might use a suitable one from that. Although I love the idea of using Chanel Poudre Signee de Chanel so I might give that a go tomorrow!

Alyza Avatar

I just use Virgin by Urban Decay because it’s quite subtle and natural looking on my skin, so it’s perfect. Most I find are too grey-cast or have too much chunky glitter for my taste.

Julie S. Avatar

No, not at all! I like all kinds of eyemakeup, and am starting to feel as if I must highlight and contour my eyelid as I would the rest of my face, before the color! Since that, to me, would be a monumental waste of time, I coordinate the browbone highlighter with the color of the rest of my eyemakeup!

doroffee Avatar

I tend to use different product and shades, rotating them. Sometimes I like a matte look, sometimes I prefer satin, sometimes I want a warmer shade of highlight, sometimes I opt for a cooler one (depending on the shadows I’m wearing)…

Adeline Avatar

It depends if I want a matte, shimmery, or cream highlighter. I generally use Urban Decay Foxy or Kinky for matte, the shimmering nude color from Tarina Tarantino’s Dreamy eyeshadow palette, or my Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter pencil. I sometimes go for NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Cashmere.

Jan Avatar

I change it up based on season as my actual hair tends to pull more red/orange in certain months and more brown/black in others. Unless doing a specific dramatic look, I try to keep my brows pretty close to actual color.

Jan Avatar

Answered the wrong question. I often don’t highlight the brow – but when I do, I switch it up and will usually tend to match whatever highlighter I’m wearing on the cheek.

Denise S. Avatar

I mostly use Bobbi Brown Banana eyeshadow as my highlight. I like that it’s not too shimmery or light for my complexion, like a lot of the highlight colors in palettes are. Didn’t like it much on the lid but found much love for it as a highlighter.

roxana Avatar

I like to highlight my brows with YSL’s Touche Eclat pen or Benefit’s eye bright. When I’m going for a more elaborated look I go after a shade that is more appropriate in tone with the rest of the shades (cooler or warmer vanilla or whitish shades).

I usually tend to prefer to highlight my brows with a shade which is the closest to my skintone. YSL does the trick in an amazing way. I just love that highlighting pen!

J Gabrielle Avatar

I almost always use Wet n Wild Brulee. It’s a matte off-white that is so soft and easy to blend. I’ll wear it just about every day, whether I am wearing other eyeshadow or not.

Olivia Avatar

I love all my highlighters from thebalm. They make the most amazing shimmery golden-white highlight shades that look awesome on my skin. My favorites are jet setting jennifer and Iron Maid-in. : )
