Do you like your lipgloss sheer or opaque? Somewhere in the middle? Why?

I like it semi-opaque — I don’t need it to be as opaque as a lipstick, but I like a decent amount of pigmentation. I find them more unique that way. Sheer glosses tend to look very similar after awhile!

I love pigmented lipglosses. I find the sheer versions to be useless and why wearing something that looks just like your lips?
i like it sheer, because i think the other ones are often a bit drying..
i don’t like it clear, there should be a touch of colour, but i shoudn’t look like wall paint!
I like my lipgloss opaque :). But I do keep a clear gloss around just in case its too much
I have very pigmented lips so i tend to like clear gloss. If I want color i usually put a lipstick on first then clear gloss.

I totally agree with you. But I also like Laques more than glosses because they have more color like the Lancome La Laque Fever 😀
I tend to like it sheer, but definitely not clear, because the latter seems kind of pointless.
Somewhere in the middle, or on the sheerer side – I have quite thin lips so they plump them out a bit 🙂 My HG is MAC Miss Marble!
I like mine semi-opaque! It’s because I have pigmented lips and want to change colour, without the risk of contrasting colorus showing through between lip vs. lip colour.

Kind of lean towards both. Sometimes a sheer one to put over a darker one to lighten it and sometimes sheer when I don’t want too much color. But after awhile if it is mostly sheer than I can’t really tell the difference…not really worth it anymore.
I like them to add at least a little color to my lips. Not necessarily opaque.
I like lipgloss to be opaque enough for me to layer on top of a lipstick and give it a different type of look.
I agree with Temptalia…I like it semi-opaque. I like to see some color, but if it were totally opaque, I’d purchase a lipstick!! 😀
i dont like spending money on lipglosses that look great in their tube but look all the same on my lips…what’s the point of buying different shades and matching them with the rest of ur make up, since it will eventually look ( even in my eyes..not to mention men’s eyes) the same pinkish- almost clear-shine….i need colour! and it schould be worth buying ..otherwise all i need is one tube of whatever brand…so..opaque please!
I need mine really opaque. I have super pigmented lips so finding a lipgloss that’s more then clear with glitter can be hard to find!

I like lip glosses that are sheer, but have a nice pop of color. If no color shows up on your lips, you might as well just get a clear gloss. On the other hand, I don’t like anything that’s too bright or heavy. Opaque lip glosses are usually the ones that are sticky or uncomfortable on the lips.

I totally agree with your point… I do enjoy to be able to put an opaque lipstick on and over it a lipgloss that has its own color but lets a bit of the lipstick color peek through, and sometimes the mix ends up with a new great color… I learned this with some of your looks and lip combos =), I didn’t enjoy tinted lipgloss as much as I do now. =)
I like both of them When I don’t wear a lipstick I like to see some color to the lip gloss I wear, and when I wear a lipstick I really like I don’t like the lip gloss to change the color.
It depends: I love opaque glosses to wear on their own, I prefer the sheer ones for layering them on lipsticks. But above all I like them sticky!
sheer. i love dazzleglasses, Buxom lips, korres lip butters…. sheer is definitely more moisturizing and natural looking.
I find a sheer, transparent lipgloss as the more important part of a make up collection, but i find the opaque ones more fun. Most I like the half opaque red ones that gives that half transparent-half opaque glass-like coat over a red lipstick. If it’s a more natural color I actually find them better if they have some more color, or barely any at all.
I like the pigmentation somewhere in between too.
I usually layer them over lipsticks, so I want the lipgloss to add oomph to my color. 🙂
I like sheer, but with colour you can see when you wear it, to wear over lipstick to either enhance or alter the colour of the lipstick
I like it sheer in summer and opaque in winter. My lips tend to get blueish when it’s cold and I have to cover this. But sometimes in summer I also like an opaque l/g – for a night out or sometimes even in the daylight 😉 my latest discovery – Just Add Color – I love it! So it seems I’m into both, depending on various factors. 😉
I dont like very sheer glosses because my lips are quite pigmented so the color wont show at all. So i’d say semi-opaque as well
I like it both ways. Depends on what my mood is. I just love glosses and have heaps of them in all shades and textures.
It depends. If I’m wearing a lipstick that needs a little shine, I prefer a sheer gloss. I do love MAC’s lipglass. It’s a lazy way of giving me some color without having to take the time for precision with lipstick.
If it’s a non-makeup day, I prefer a lipgloss with a hint of color but not overbearing since the rest of my face isn’t done up.

Opaque semi or fully. I hate when I see a nice color and go to put it on and you dont see ANYTHING. For that wear clear. Its drives me crazy.
both. i am an avid fan of lip gloss. i like sheer when i am looking for a more neutral look, or when i do more dramatic eyes. opaque is my go to when i am doing more of a lip focus.
Personally I like both types. Erotic by Too Faced is opaque but with a high glossy shine. Normally, though, I like a slightly more sheer but highly pigmented shine (Clinique gloss comes to mind).
I like semi-opaque to opaque. My lips are fairly pigmented alone so sheer lipglosses tend to blend into my lips. This is why I have more lipsticks than glosses!

so I don’t NEED lipstick, its sucha hassle sometimes when you
need to carry lipstick AND lipgloss.
I really only wear lipsticks these days because lipglosses tend to bleed really quickly on me, and I’m no good at fixing that. If I ever wear lip glosses I prefer them opaque or semi-opaque.

I am a semi-opaque fan as well. I want a little bit of color to show through. If the lip gloss is too sheer then it doesn’t really do much and I figure that I could just as easily put Vaseline on my lips.
Definitely needs to be opaque because my lips are pigmented. I can always blot to make it a bit sheer it is too intense. Sheer glosses are just a waste of money to me.
It depends on what I feel like wearing that day. I’ve got so many glosses I think I have all the bases covered just in case.

It depends on my mood and the look I want to achieve! I usually don’t like too much coverage with lip glosses. Most of the time if I bother adding a gloss it means I am in the mood of having a layering effect so I play with the lipstick color underneath it. Sometimes I like the fullness of the coverage an opaque gloss gives. I don’t really like plain clear I need some shimmer at least.
I like mine really pigmented as well. There are too many that are sheer and when I put something on, I like to have colour!

i agree sheer glosses end up looking the same to me. I like semi opaque glosses as well. Like i love macs english accents lipglass but wouldnt really be able to pull off illamasqua’s lipgloss.
I like more sheer lipglosses… if I want opaqueness, I will just opt for lipstick instead.
Generally, I like opaque because I usually wear gloss instead of lipstick. So having that pop of color is pleasant.
I prefer Sheer with different color shimmers…
I really don’t know when I would wear an opaque lipgloss. If i want color, i’d go with a lipstick..

It really just depends on what kind of look I’m going for… sometimes a sheer wash of colour is all I really want, other times I want something opaque & vibrant 🙂
It really depends on my mood.
I like opaque more, e.g. Bobbi Brown Rich Color Gloss. Because if it comes to sheer glosses, especially, similar hues ones, it seems it doesn’t make any difference on lips.
I love them pigmented, but not as opaque a lipstick (for that I sue lipstick!), so like you, i’d say I love semi-opaque glosses!
