Do you like that seasonal collections come out before the actual season?

Do you like that seasonal collections come out before the actual season? (Like we’re barely into spring, but we’re actually seeing the launch of summer collections.)

Not really — I think we’re always too early. I think it needs to be early, like halfway through the previous season.

It kind of drives me crazy a bit. I like to see them before the actual season hits, but I hate when it’s months and months in advance and stuff from the current season is still being launched. It just kind of gets jumbled and annoying in my mind, lol. It’s just annoying when I’m still sort of enjoying my fall stuff then spring comes out and then at the same time bits and pieces of summer. It’s a bit of an overload.

Not REALLY… Well I think it’s good to know what you can look forward to, and at the moment I’m looking forward to summer. However, I’d probably be a tad sad to see the winter collections come out in the middle of summer!

I find it frustrating because I barely feel like I’ve gotten a chance to enjoy my booty from the existing season, and then I’m under pressure to haul if I want the upcoming season.

I need to go on a one year no-buy and work on organization. I have more than enough of everything I need in every shade and category!

I’m with you, Melissa. I should just spend at Ikea and Container Store for about 3 months. I need to take time to catalog and organize.

I don’t really care for the mosT part but, I do like it during spring and summer cuz Hawaii never gets cold and I always get bored of fall and winter so spring/summer collections….COME AT ME! Don’t really care for clothes either, except maybe you can get things you can still wear on sale xD

I think it’s important for a collection to be launched BEFORE the season (i.e. it’s pointless to have a “spring” season halfway through spring) but on the same note, launching a collection a season ahead is silly.

I work in retail, and I’ve always been bewildered that we get collections in far too early than necessary. For instance, here in NZ, we’re in Autumn now. We’ve had our Autumn stock since the end of January, and are just going into Winter stock at the moment. We’ve got heavy winter coats and jackets which people wouldn’t think of wearing here until July/August. The ironic thing is that in the past two weeks, we’ve had better summer weather and temperatures than we did between December and February! And we’re halfway through Autumn now! Ridiculous! I certainly wouldn’t be wanting to buy thick trench coats in this weather – and it’s no wonder nobody else is either.

I like the idea, because I have a chance to see what I really want, and actually try to save for it, instead of having just bought something pricey, only to find out something more fabulous is coming soon. I just found out that NARS is putting out a Warhol collection in October, as well as MAC is doing a Marilyn collection at the same time, so I have a solid six months to save, as these collections have the potential to really interest me. What does bother me, though, is when one company puts out back-to-back collections, sometimes multiples at one time, but having a window to decide is convenient.

Yessssss ! I love it.

Especially when it’s winter and I’m dying for sun and warm weather. I live in Paris, France and it’s really not sunny most of the time so spring summer make up is helping in february/march. As well as spring summer clothes by the way. I really love it early.

I’m not that kind of person that needs to buy something to wear it now. I can easily by a bright blush in february and wait ’til june to wear it. Same for clothes.

Well, I guess I like that they come out before the actual season because I get to see them swatched on websites by regular users (with a variety of skintones) before getting them. We’re always a month or so late, so I’ve seen (for example) MAC+Chen Man swatches before it came out where I’m from, and that helped me make decisions faster about what I’ll get.

BUT if we were on time, and we had 4 seasons (we only have 2 = summer and rainy), I suppose keeping track of everything would drive me batty if I were THAT trend conscious. 😛

Honestly I don’t mind… I’m the type of person who googles collections (usully NP collections) buys what I want from that collection the first day its out, and (typically) don’t go back. So If the Spring collection came out in early Feburay and its now April, I’m ready for the next collection 🙂 I dont think its the names or the seasons these collections are for or even when they are released. Its the fact that they are so limited edition they sell out within a few weeks. People have been learning the hard way about not picking up something they love, and now its now discontiuned… Companies use that to their advantage.
Wow! Who knew I was so passionate about this topic? lol.Anyways short answer is I dont mind :)Good Question Christine!

Anything more then a few weeks early is too much! I have forgotten about it by the actual season,or I get it right away because I love it, wear it early, and am sick of it by the time it would be appropriate to wear it.

I think the season collections come out too early and everything gets jumbled. I’m still trying to wrap my head around what’s new for spring, and there are already announcements for summer collections. I do think collections should come out a month (?) before the season start.

Karen Stauss Avatar

No! No! No! No! Absolutely hate it. I can see a couple of weeks early but seeing SPRING collections coming out right after Christmas Day? Ridiculous.

Jessica Moxcey Avatar

I do to a degree. I like to be able to have the stuff as the season starts, but I hate that the seasons launch so early.

I kinda of don’t like it, because I’m from South Africa and here we have fall now whilst in the states its spring.. 🙁 so we kind of have to adapt the spring collections to suit our winters 🙁
