Do you like building your own palettes?

I do! I think it’s fun to create different color stories, though I am often too lazy to do it in person/in real life, so I build virtually.

Ye-es… but I’m not really much of a palette version, so more like, I enjoy moving around my collection of singles to be a gradient of one-and-done eyeshadows. šŸ™‚

I’m on the fence about this. I do like being able to avoid shades I will never in a million years use (TF Totally Fetch, UD Woodstock, ABH Love Letter, Ventian Red, Realgar…basically 3/4 of the shadows in the Modern Renaissance palette) but left to my own devices, I end up with a palette full of colours like BareMinerals Elitist or MUFE Reptile and Taupe Platinum, with perhaps an ivory or pale peach shade for brightening…so basically, multiples of the same sorts of colours. Most people would laugh if they saw my self-made palettes as they all look pretty much the same!

And, Christine, you are very good at it. I noticed you received a compliment last week from none other than Lisa Eldridge on that talent. Congrats. Sometimes I disagree with your grading, probably because our skin types are different, but I always love your combinations. Always so creative and beautiful.

I really enjoy my custom made palette, for more than one reason. First, for me it’s a practical issue; less waste, I can buy the colors that I use and suit me, it’s a one and done so I don’t have to get multiple palettes. Second, while I’m not creative and certainly don’t have an eye for color, I certainly enjoy the process of deciding which color to replace or add in my palette, search swatches online, do mock-ups to see how the palette will look like. Too bad it doesn’t happen that often. šŸ˜… Eyeshadows last such a long time…

I recently bought some singles from Clionadh and Sydney grace and made a nice palette for myself. I actually really wanted to buy your palettes and loved all the greens and purples but somehow couldn’t imagine buying 3 palettes (not for the price) as they are so reasonable but I would never use 3 more palettes. So I created one with all the greens purples yellow blue and an orange. I really love it so much and might dispose all of my palettes including pat mcgrath. Hope one day I could get a really nice colorful palette from you. I bought it on the sale and it’s about the same price as your 3 palettes but I would use these colors for sure

I have never bought a pallette because I prefer to carry around single shadows. Less bulk. These colors you have here are intriguing and beautiful, especially the middle and bottom row.

No, I don’t really have many singles in which to create my own palette. Like many others here, I would probably end up with the same sort of shades: golds, olives, bronze and warm browns – with a pewter or two for lighter tones.
Although I do buy palettes with the majority of shades the ones I use, every now and again there is a shade that, in the past, I would not use, but now feel I can give it a try. So, sometimes, palettes can gently encourage you to extend your repetoire of shades.
