We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Not so much loyalty as a “soft spot” – for MAC and UD especially (even though both are starting to specialize in Crapology), as well as NARS. Every time something new comes out from these companies and the quality is poor, I feel a little stab in my heart!

I do for perfume (Juliette Has a Gun, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, Kuumba Made). I have a soft spot for Sugarpill Cosmetics, Girlactik, and Glamlite. I like that the founders/CEOs are involved and still creating releases. I am a Bobbi Brown fan, so I’ve been checking out her new line Jones Road instead of the former eponymous brand.

I do too for perfume, but mine are Comme des Garcons and DS & Durga. I buy the occasional Sugarpill just because they do some irresistably adorable packaging — and now I’ve got the beginnings of a loyalty/adoration thing going on for Salt New York bc hot dang, Sneaky Balm and the similarly-formulated cheek tints are IIIIIIT.

Only for skincare brands like Paula’s Choice and Drunk Elephant due to reliabilty of being free of irritants, which is so important for my rosacea skin.

My top brands are Chanel, Lancome, and Dior, but I also like Bobbi Brown, YSL, and Giorgio Armani. I’m not really “loyal” to any brand….if something new comes out from any brand and it gets rave reviews, I’ll try it lol. I’m always on the lookout for something new.

My favourite body care products – the Japanese Camellia and Hawaiian Kukui body butters from The Body Shop – were discontinued at some point toward the end of the worst of the Pandemic at a time when I wasn’t shopping in store so didn’t get a chance to buy extras. One of the hair care products I really loved – Living Proof Style Extender – met the same fate at some point (though I have a massive 1 liter bottle of it). It seems that if I love something, it’s doomed to be discontinued!

Not to be a bore, but I was devoted to Laura Mercier. That ended and my one brand is officially Dior! They rarely discontinue and are constantly good.

No, not at all these days. Long gone are the days of brand loyalty because a brand can come out with something spectacular one season and the next moment bring out something awful….
Also some brands are better for one type of beauty product, say lipsticks and pretty average for everything else.
However I do find that indie brands like Give Me Glow, SG, JD Glow etc generally produce excellent single eyeshadows.
To me – CP’s Lux lipstick range is often high quality.
Even good old Pat’s quality can vary.

M/u? A decade ago, yes. Not now. For S/C I tend to go by need, anti-aging, inflammatory, acne prone, etc. Now dry/aging, which NEVER happened. I was oily for > 40 years, so go figure. For scent I def prefer the DNA of some houses better than others. Oldie boldies like Guerlain, Hermes, Creed, and some of the mood based, like old Commodity and old Phlur. Today’s gourmands, sweets, fruities, not only do not appeal, but I think would read inappropriate or trying-too-hard on an old person. Yes, hahaha, your grandmother’s perfume? Yeah, maybe MY grandmother’s perfume. Boomer here, as they say.

No, not at all.
In the beginning of my makeup life I was a one brand at a time girl, I had my Lancome period, Chanel, Dior YSL. I mixed the HE brands with DS brands.
Then MAC arrived and I was a MAC girl/woman for a long time even though I never was loyal to the brand, then UD arrived in stores and the same thing happened.
These days I buy from brands that release interesting products that gets good reviews.
I agree with Mariella about the soft spot feeling to MAC and UD.

ANY brand loyalty? Well sort of? If I particularly like a particular product of a brand, then I’ll scope out the other colors in the same range or similar product category (i.e. if they do great cream blushes, I’ll look at their other cream products or if I liked a powder product–I’ll look at their other powders) in hopes for another color with a similar sensation/effect. I have sensitive combination acne-prone skin and allergies, so winning formulas that not only look great on me but also are non-irritating, don’t break me out, long-lasting, and comfortable to wear are formulas to NOT stray from.

I have some favorites, like SG, Viseart, Devinah Cosmetics, MAC & Dior, but I certainly don’t buy everything they launch and if something didn’t work for me, I will say so. Makeup is subjective and I hate seeing people attacked by a brand’s uber fans if they don’t like a product.

I used to be a die hard Clinique (mostly skin care & some makeup) & Tarte (mostly makeup, some skin care) fan in my younger yrs. But after so many yrs of disappointing products combined with the surgence of SOOOO many new brands & products, its been very difficult to maintain loyalty bc there has not been much…consistency. I find it wild that there is not 1 brand, where I can honestly say “they are reliable, all their stuff is amazing”. I guess my closest would be Nars. NYX, for their price point, has not let me down.
