Do you associate makeup looks with memorable events in your life?
Do you associate make-up looks with memorable events in your life? For example, would you wear the same makeup look you wore when you first met a significant other, got a promotion, or achieved some other milestone?
I never thought about it, but I suppose I don’t! I thought back to some of those memorable events and can’t really remember what I wore. These days, I tend to wear Chanel Dragon on special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) but it’s more of a default look.

Not really! Thinking back on special occasions, I can’t really remember what makeup I wore–if I had makeup on at all!
But I do remember when my older sister wanted me to help her get ready for a dance (we’re like in middle school at this point, lol), but she didn’t know anything about makeup. Somewhere in there the communication was mixed up, so she ended up putting gold eyeshadow all over her face. I believe it was from a Lancome gift with purchase palette hahahahaa
I remember what I was wearing when my fiancé proposed : MAC Lady Grey Quad 🙂 So that’s pretty recent.
I can’t really think of any other look I wore for an occasion.
Only one really, which was a super bright yellow, orange, and blue look I wore to Manly Beach when I was living in Australia. It was a really fun special day with my boyfriend, right before I moved back to the States. I’ve tried to recreate it several times, but it never turns out the same, which makes me sad. Not for make-up, but for nail polish yes – I wore China Glaze Ruby Pumps for graduation so now it’s my go-to special occasion polish.
I do!!I remember every look I wore on my important days (graduation day, first day at work etc…)!I even remember what I wore on other not-so-important days…! I guess I have a really strong memory…

I definitely associate certain events or periods in my life with particular elements of makeup looks. For example I know wore clinique’s black honey to high school grad. And there is a new years pic where I am wearing this eyeshadow trio from covergirl, where the brow highlight was wayyyyy too reflective of the flash. Ghostly expression immortalized.
Another time I was hanging out with my cousins, doing their makeup, and when my cousin did mine she ‘accidentally’ made me look like a clown.
So makeup looks are definitely associated with memorable events in my life, or are memorable in themselves, but I’m not sure I’d necessarily want to relive the memories in all cases!
Yes, the makeup I wore to my wedding. I feel it was the best I’ve ever looked. The artist did a great brown smokey eye with bronzed contoured cheeks. It was so lovely!
I tend to remember which perfume I was wearing during special times in my life but not makeup
I tend to associate memories with my fragrances just because scent is so enmeshed with memory, but I do always get a little nostalgic when I wear the look I wore basically every day back in high school. It was nothing but a ton of cheap CoverGirl dark brown eyeliner smudged out into a smoky eye with a lot of bareMinerals Flawless Definition mascara. It’s so simple but to this day it still seems to be my most comfortable and flattering look!
I don’t even know how you’d remember some of those things. Do you know someone is going to be your significant other the first time you meet the person?
i just know for any type of memorable events…i take time putting more effort into apply makeup and doing my hair. Extra minute or two on every feature. Even if the night wasn’t memorable for me, it could have been for someone else
I tend to remember smaller events, but never big ones. For instance, I can picture exactly what make-up I had on for almost every basketball game I went to in high school, but I have no clue what I wore for graduation/homecoming.
Might just be that these are the memories I tend to hold on to.
Nope, I associate music with events and people. I’m glad I dont associate makeup I’d hate to have to stop wearing a favorite lipstick because of an ex bf or something.
I’m the exact opposite–I’d hate to have to stop listening to certain songs/music because of an ex!
Nope, since my make up are not sophisticated at all: just one eyeshadow on my eyelid, black eyepencil and lipgloss
I totally forget about makeup I wore, but I do remember the outfit and the fragrance I wore on graduation day, certain weddings, certain important first dates or first working day; and i do rememebr because somebody complimented me about my outfit and/or fragrance (but nobody ever complimens you about makeup!!)
