Dior Promenade Doree (543) 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($68.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, limited edition holiday palette that featured four warmer, gold-brown hues paired with a pop of cooler-toned, silver in the middle. The quality was so-so with the two bottom shades being better, while the upper three shades were of lesser quality. For the price point, I’d definitely want all five shades to perform well!

Promenade Doree #1 is a light-medium, orange-gold with strong, warm undertones and a pearl finish.
- Mostly opaque pigmentation
- Slightly dusty, a touch thin; not as emollient as past formulations
- Applied evenly and blended out well
- Long-wearing (8 hours)

The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately.
There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades.
Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer).

I really quite like the colour story of this quint, but as you have written Christine, the first three shades are underpigmented and underwhelming. It could have been a lovely autumn palette otherwise.
So many much better quality eyeshadows in these exact shades right here in my vanity. This is definitely a major waste of money.
Frankly, I expected it to be worse. The fact that there is only one C grade is a win for Dior at this point. Usually I like Dior’s color stories, finding them interesting in their pairing of shades but this doesn’t do anything for me. Hard pass.
I bought it. It’s amazing, if only I could have known about it sooner.
This is “nice enough” but not particularly festive or holiday looking and the B rating makes it an easy skip. I much preferred the one from last year that I wasn’t able to get my mitts on – Cosmic Eyes, which was similar but, IMO, nicer.
I purchased Cosmic Eyes, new and still in box from a secondary seller and I am so happy I did. It is truly lovely. I got it for $25 with $4.30 shipping so under $30. I also picked up the other release from the same holiday, Galactic Eyes. It was the same seller so she combined shipping and gave me a discount on the second palette. She hadn’t even swatched them. I have worn them both while in Denver and they really are lovely. If you truly want it, you should periodically check the secondary sites. I have saved items to my “loves” and mostly just to take time to see if I like them or to compare and many times the sellers will send me a discount which makes it worth my while to get them. Just a thought.
I think I’ve mentioned before that I’m in Canada so things are just a bit different and it’s a bit more trouble than I’m willing to expend on makeup. If I can’t see it for myself and get it into my hands “immediately” (my husband jokes that I’m “a bad waiter”), it just really isn’t worth the time and trouble to me. I’m glad you were able to get those 2 palettes for such a good price but, like I said, I’m just not willing to spend that much energy (even if the seller did ship to Canada, etc.).
