Dior Holiday 2015 Collection
Dior Holiday 2015 Color Collection
Gold has long been a signature color for the House of Dior. Mr. Dior’s creations incorporated gold in various ways, whether as an opulent adornment on a timeless Dior Grey Bar Suit or in a complete ensemble. Today, looks created by Raf Simons for Dior feature metallic, subtle gold elements to balance audacious shades of red, pink, fuchsia, or silver. Now, Peter Philips has combined the storied history of Dior Gold and Dior Grey with the modern incarnations of these elegant shades to create a limited edition color collection for holiday. Philips’ vision of gold and radiance incorporates the emblematic Dior Grey with gold to create a subtle, delicate hybrid. This modern shade of Grey-Gold mixes seamlessly with more intense shades of radiant reds and pinks and delicate, shimmering nudes for an urban yet sophisticated look.
Eyes are imagined in iridescent and metallic effects, from shimmering grey-gold contrasting with warmer hues of soft burgundy and pale pink, to elegant champagne complemented by regal purple. Lips pop in moisture-rich matte shades of vibrant pink, rosewood, deep red, and fresh pink, while nails complete the look in shades of grey iridescent gold, blazing red, burgundy and sparkling glitter gold. The complexion is luminous, highlighted by shades of golden beige.

The eyeshadow quads are sooo pretty… it’s too bad most Dior quads turn out to be a complete disaster :'(
Quints I mean… gah!
Such a beautiful collection! One of those brands where I typically love the look of the collection, but you have to wait for the reviews. It’s tough to narrow down as I love the looks of all of it. Argh!!! Items that jump out at me: The third lipstick from the left (Fabuleuse 750?)!! The second nail varnish (Gris Or 227) looks very unique and last nail varnish in the deep red (Passion) calls my name I love both of the 5 couleur eyeshadow palettes..but performance wise ?? not the most consistent track record. I also like the multi-use palettes, but figure that’s asking too much to have one of those babies score an A or even a B+.
Oh yes, that 3rd lipstick over has me very interested to see how it looks! It appears to be a more complex, less blah shade, but also daytime appropros? Curious to see it on!
This collection is not exciting me at all. A bit of a disappointment, because I like to collect Dior quints. None of the colors seem unique, though. I’ll sit back and see what swatches and looks come out of the quints and decide whether to purchase later. If I purchase, it will likely be for collector purposes only. So far, I really haven”t been blown away by any of the Holiday 2015 promos.
On a positive note, this should free up some much needed monies to allocate elsewhere this holiday… like Guerlain and Chanel. Or perhaps, Spring 2016 will bring some refreshing collections.
I hope to get something from this collection as I only currently have a Dior gloss and Dior maximizer in my stash. I am eyeing the shadow palettes, the highlighter, and as much as I hate mixing lip product in with face powder, I do like the kits actually. I like the first the most. But, I can see a possible disaster if not well done.
I’m dying over the quints at the top. However, I know how bad the quints usually perform. I can’t wait to see this in person. (And for your review, Christine!)
When I read the header I just pictured Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada saying “Gold for the holidays? Ground breaking.”
But it looks well coordinated, if not original.
I love gold, but don’t have high hopes for their shadow quints. But that Mono Fusion cream shadow looks right up my alley! And maybe that gloss. $ 82 is too much for a gold highlighter, and looks really small too, I’m hoping for cheaper dupes.
Not very groundbreaking or unique, but if they perform well it’s still a good collection. I see some pieces being good Christmas gifts!
The eye shadow quints look gorgeous. Have to wait and see how they swatch and perform to see if they are actually worth getting.
Gold, gold and more gold. What is it, the 3rd year in a row for Dior? I had an appointment with a MUA at a Dior counter last week and the people there were… not too excited about this collection. They were hoping the highlighter would be better than last year though, lol!
The eyeshadow palettes do look cool, hopefully they’re not the powdery mess that last year’s were, and I think it’s exciting to see Dior joining the matte lip trend. Dior can do great lipsticks, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed here.
The truth is that I still regret not getting my hands on the Dior highlighter from the Transatlantique collection in 2014, so everytime Dior comes out with a highlighter I say a small prayer that it will be the Transatlantique one. Not this time though, unfortunately 🙁 Let’s hope the shadows do better!
Well, everything certainly looks beautiful.
I have a lot of Dior palettes, but haven’t brought any lately . Not too impressed by these photos. I love gold but these palettes just have one gold shadow in them. The highlighter looks pretty. Wish someone would make a palette with just different shades of gold. My current favorite gold palette is the Unzipped by Lorac . I’ll check this collection out in the stores.
I think the Gold Illuminating Pressed Powder looks gorgeous but I’d probably be getting it more for the packaging than anything else. It’s so beautifully presented.
Ooh-la-la! Some of these have got my full attention! In particular, Couture Collection Palette, the 3rd lipstick, the Smoky Palette. Not sure, but I wonder whether you’ll be reviewing any of these? Especially considering how those Dior quints tend to disappoint…
Phew, this collection did not blow me away…my wallet is free xD
Those face eye palettes are nice!! I’m saving my splurges for Guerlain but that Multi-Use palette is pretty tempting.
I just died…I want it ALL!
but..maybe the quality will be terrible and my wallet will be spared. I kind of hope not, I haven’t been this excited about a fall collection in quite some time.
Is it my imagination or is this holiday palette the exact same as last year.
I too like the quint shadows, particularly the first one shown with the burgundy. Have to wait for reviews as quality is not consistent. Hope it gets a good review
There are lots of choices in this collection – love the Eternal quint better than the Blazing Gold one. The nail polishes look beautiful too. Their lip, cheek and eye travel sets are gorgeous too. Lots of variety to suit different complexions. But as with Dior + eye shadows – I shall await the reviews. I think their lipsticks and blushes are better quality.
Actually that all looks nice! Need to see some swatches!
Oooo I hope you review the lipsticks! The packaging is so pretty. 🙂
I’m unlikely to buy anything (I don’t own any DIor and tend skip things at this price point), but the color combinations in the quints look well thought out. Like others, I really like the look of the second-to-last lipstick and the second nail polish, and the Pret-a-porter Smoky and Nude palettes look well done (color-wise), though I’d really only wear the smoky. Considerations of quality aside, seems like a nice, pleasing holiday offering.
You know you’re getting jaded when you look at this perfectly respectable holiday collection and think, “Meh.” No matter what brand, every Christmas it’s a gold/silver/red/wine colour story, with brush sets and palettes, and often not made up to the brand’s usual quality standards. I returned a lovely looking palette without even opening the box last year because it was made in China, and not France where it’s usually manufactured.
I keep hoping (and I know you do too Christine!) that the holiday quits will be as good as the Bonne Etoile from years back. The holiday matte lipsticks are always amazing, and worth buying IMHO, but the nail polish is just so-so. That gold highlighter, while it may not be the best performer, looks so beautiful I’d buy it just for collecting sake. It’s interesting to me that they’re using the same holiday packaging for those lipstick and nail polish that they’ve used previously..
Dior eyeshadows are the best, they are so pigmented and I love these new colors.
*bleh* lip products uncovered right beside eye products. That right there will ensure I buy none of those palettes. Why can’t Dior seem to put out decent palettes? WHY?
And then there’s the brush set….are they drunk? I’d rather buy MUF’s set, which is significantly more expensive but has several more brushes as well, and is a beautiful set. Very very soft, gorgeous on the skin. I’m glad I picked that set up.
There isn’t a lot that is interesting me this year, which really is too bad. I’m taking an exited family member to Sephora this weekend – her first time ever shopping there – & was hoping there were some holiday sets I could recommend to her. Things are definitely not looking good. I’m predicting she will be incredibly disappointed 🙁
The Pret a Porter palettes look interesting but that thing with the powders getting into the cream products? Look like there’s a lifty “lip” so perhaps there is a way to protect them somehow. As others have said, the eyeshadow 5 pans look very want-able but, knowing Dior, we’re all wise to wait for reviews. I don’t know how I missed this entire post til just now, several days after the fact!
